Zanarkin
When i was in Bamberg Germany, i used to get this (well i think this is the one) pastry all the time with coffee and i absolutely loved it. I think the name was a Mossdecka or something like that but i guess its not cause the name doesn't bring anything that looks like it. I also don't know if this is the one, but i'm hoping the name i typed might sound like something similar. I'm pretty sure the picture is very similar to it, if it isn't the pastry itself. Also it does look a bit like a pretzel but i'm almost sure it wasn't a pretzel...? it tasted very different from what i remember. Original Alear
Did you get it at a lot of different places? Do you know the names of the bakery or bakeries you went to? Maybe these are obvious leads you already looked into. (I went through a wikipedia list of german pastries and didn't see any promising leads). Etria
Could be a Nussschnecke or Zimtschnecke in pretzel shape. If no one else sold it, it might be a specialty of that bakery. You probably wouldn't find it then on the internet. What did it taste like?

It was from a bakery close to the university, and i can't quite remember if they sold it elsewhere. I can't remeber the taste, but i do remember thinking it tasted wonderful with the coffee. 15 hours ago, Original Johan Liebert said: Did you get it at a lot of different places? The bakery was called Der Beck if you are curious I hadn't thought to google the name and i couldn't find the website button on the little google maps section. But i just did and I think it might be a Mohnschnecke Edited December 20, 2020 by Zanarkin
Etria
Oh yes, Mohnschnecken are one of the three common Hefeschnecken (Zimt, Nuss, Mohn). They're actually not hard to make them yourself.
