Lt.Smirks
So I was testing out some new mugs in FE7 and tried to change the names go to go with it, I edited the name in FEditor, opened the ROM, put the cursor over my character and all the foreground sprites disappear. I looked back over my work but I can't find anything wrong. I even tried just changing the name in a clean ROM; same problem. I've never had trouble with this before, can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Chocolate Kitty
Try opening the rom in feditor, save it, close and re-open then make your changes.
Lt.Smirks
It worked! Thank you. One question though, why did that work?
Chocolate Kitty
Because the feditor writes a checksum or something I don't remember; let alex explain it because I'm just going to screw it up. I just know it has to do with checksums; if you opened your broken roms in feditor and saved, they'd also probably be fixed.
CT075
when you save the ROM, you refresh the checksum and clear out any potentially improper metadata
Aleph
It worked! Thank you. One question though, why did that work? this is an excellent question because I am pretty sure I took out the "can't let you do that starfox" part of FEditor at the request of a bunch of people (who then complained about FEditor "breaking" stuff that they had already broken after they no longer had a safeguard within FEditor to stop them from screwing up further)
