  1. I don't know what to really make out of Grima... he is such a bland villain (granted this has been a problem in other fe:s like 7 with the fire dragon), who is evil for the sake of evil. while the final boss tends to be a bit forgetable, the secondary villains at least are memorable... discounting Validar. Back to Grima... the thing is, we know so little about Grima so it's hard to say anything about it. Medeus at least had a backstory and motives, while, again, Grima is evil for the sake of evil.
  2. I like the concept, but thinking that the execution of it could have been a lot better. It's a difficulty to test your adaptability, but some things have been way to luck based(some skill combinations almost impossible to get past, especislly in yhe begining).
  3. English isn't my native language so I'll probably make a few mistakes... and my first language (finnish) is fairly different from english when you consider that it's not related to it in any way (unlike most european languages).
  4. Because interesting characters can live in a wacum?
  5. acctually... this is a good question, cause if my memory serves me right, wasn't Gotoh a servant of Naga who was supposed to help him protect the world from danger. Yes at one point he tells Marth he had lost hope in humanity, but Marth rekindeled his faith (unless something happened during the time before awakeing... which again isn't explained...)
  6. The lack of lore and just... explenation buggs me, it's just that shes just there... in Valm... serving a person it's hinted at she hates... alone... which is mentioned that she hates. I could be very easily just called character development, but the way it's brought forth and just "accept it", buggs me. If you like Awakening, fine, I just happen to not so there is probably some things that outweigh the other things, and really, it's just a matter of opinion.
  7. If I'm saying something wrong (like mistaking story for writing), sorry, english isn't my native language. But really?, you think none of the fire emblem games have better story or writing than awakening?... I know fire emblem doesen't have groundbreaking stories, but objectivly speaking (like looking at story, progression, pacing, character etc.), I can tell you this isn't a high point for the series, heck, shadow dragon got some things better (like the pacing and progression of the story).
  8. Why should we then not pay atention to it and just call it one of the best fe games? I'm think I can hope for an fe game with at least as good writing as the series tend to have. (If you have said this allready, sorry, I kinda just glimpsed at the last page)
  9. I ceckt this up, and your right... all though I still don't see why they would stop worshiping them since they think one of them (or their decendant) walks among them, (Celicas ending). Here I'm lifting my eyebrows a bit, as you said, the death of Tiki is hinted at if you fail to collect all star shards, but would Naga really sacrafice the world for Tiki? yes Naga was protecting Tiki but this comes from Gotoh who tells Marth Tiki probably hates them for the method they used. And this is something I have said in several topics, this game needs more exposition to explain said evets, because it sitll doesen't make sense to me why Bantu and Tiki wouldn't look for each other after all they been through. ...or I'm just rambling about things that are explained or false in the game... I'll go back to my corner now.
  10. ...That I'll anyway do. If there is one character I can't stand in awakening (which is quite an accomplishment nintendo thinking about that said character & Bastian are my favourites in the series... or favourites in the others with the exeption of fe:). Said character is Tiki, what is she even doing in awakeing, she has no reson to be there, and the place she is in and the things she do raises even more quistions about what were they thinking and if they bothered to read the scripts of the games they were making a sequel to. I'll explain a bit (and maybe you can enlighten me how this makes sense...), first, what is she doing in valm, formerly known as valencia? a place where they have eradicated the dragons and have two gods of their own who they have no reason not to abandon (really, they are active gods, without they can't get promotins, crops won't grow and they can make people stronger). And why does Tiki even help her parent? I mean Naga gave orders to Gotoh to seal her away from the world and presumeably to kill her if the binding shield was never restored... why would she begin to serve said person? and where is Bantu? do you think they wouldn't start to look after each other after Marth died and Akaneia fell? and what about the binding shield being the thing that made sure that dragons wouldn't go feral, and where are the dragons that Marth saved by restoring the binding shield? how hasn't Tiki degenerated already after all these years (despite not abandoning her dragonstone) if the binding shield has been destroyed and spheres scattered. The mere exsistance of Tiki in awakening with so little explenation buggs the crap out of me, why did they even need to set this game in Akaneia? ... well, Iv'e ranted for long enough without accomplishing anything... good day, I'll just go back into my corner now.
  11. I'll put it in very simple words this time so there will be no missunderstanding what I mean: I don't mean that it should be exactly like RD or PoR, but that awakening really needs something to counter the brokendness of dark magic (as a point in talking about magic)... thats it.
  12. Here I'm gonna be an asshole and say look in the mirror. There are a lot of mechanics I wonder why they didn't bring back (for example hight differences) and awakening really needs 2 magic triangles a la PoR & RD, because, even if it has wind, fire and tunder, fire is the thing you will never use because it has no advantages why you would use it over tunder, or wind if your fighting fliers, and all the anima magics are left in the dark for the supperior magic... well dark, so yes, awakeing really needs something to give DM and sorcs a dissadvange (like the trinity of magic or weight). And I can tell I really don't find any FE "the best" in the series, they have their pros and cons and I pretty much like them all... with the exeption of awakening.
  13. Because they couldn't write it any better and have slightly more exposition? and sacred stones had a narrator and it worked well even though the game had a world map.
  14. I deffinetely agree with you, but I've seen so many call a particular FE "the best" (depending on which forums you look), and I can't say which I think is the best because of the exact reason you state, but I'm curious what others think due to what I've seen on other sites.
  15. in all honesty, I would rather take RD gameplay, hight differences, two magic triangles, ballistae, victory conditions, fog of war, second promotions. And I would not have second seals and do some skills like SS (rogues have pick while thiefs and asassins have lockpics, and make rouge a utility unit and not a fighter), if there are monsters then slayer could be reintrodused for bishops (why wasn't this in awakening?) and make more difference between the classes than there are in awakening... or at least make the classes so that they are useable and not like awakening where there are classes highly suppirior to others (granted this has been a problem in several FE:s).
  16. And please, separate "favourite" from "best", we all have the favourite fire emblem on our profile, so we know which one you like the best, but which one do you think is the best? I really can't tell and that's why I'm asking your opinion.
  17. So was mystery of the emblem for snes, and honestly, if it's a sequel to awakeing, I'm not sure I'll even buy it (LIKE NINTENDO CARES....capslock yay!). And awakening is already a sequel of a sequel of a remake, I think we can have a pause from said world, no matter how popular it is. And part of the reason I didn't like awakening's story was because of the retconing and unexplained events (elitism!!) and that it couldn't keep it's shit straight in it's own game... I just hope the next game is completely seperated from awakening.
  18. In RD I acctually enjoyed the challenge, and somewhat liked the story to part 4, and while there are things that are broken (like you having 3 promotinons and the only the enemy bosses) and I liked a lot of the mechanics in radiant dawn. With the snes games, I acctually did find the stories in the snes games interesting enough to keep me playing, put aside the very merry sueish main characters (luckily remedied in Shadow Dragon for FE3). If you wan't to tell a game I will have a hard time to enjoy, rather say the nes games, and even there I enjoy gaiden for what it is, yes, the story in it is pretty bland (after all, it's an nes game, what would you expect?) and it's really grindy, and I acctually did get tired of it a few times, but I came back to it every timne, and now I'm hoping for a remake to fix the problems it has. And about awakenings plot, it's because it's brief, bland, predictable and clished even for an FE, I got bored with it, it has little lore of it's own, we know very little of the world, and bulks of texts isn't a problem for me, heck I would even argue that awakeing would need more exposition into the main story to explain things and have that overworld storyteller, or whatever it's called in english, that every other FE has.
  19. About a game with Anri, I have and idea for that that I don't know popular it is... make it a game like legend of zelda. that's my idea how it could be done since Anri pretty much traveld and did his shit alone.
  20. Wasn't FP the alternate timline thing (dunno cause I never played the DLC, why spend more money on a game I already don't like). I've acctually played gaiden, and I liked it, and I whish for a remake so more people could play it... and so I could play it in english without emulation . I would acctually rather have a game, especialy if it's a game that has nothing to do with the game it would be DLC for, as a hard copy I go and by, but thats me.
  21. I sure hope it wont be, due to things that have been stated in these forums several times. I really hope it's just gonna be an entirely new game (which I think awakening should have been, a game of it's own in the series instead of a sequel) or a remake of gaiden. Your thought?
  22. I really agree with that the story is really bad, but for me it has a far larger impact, because if get uninterested with the story, I will most likely stop playing the games, it's either that or the callenge, lore, world etc. that keeps me with the game usualy, and I didn't find i that hard (exepct L+ because I'm not gona start a reset fest). And the amount of unexplained events and retcons just anoy me, but this is more of a personal opinion and while fire emble stories tendto quite simple (at least on the surface), their still enough to keep me interested, I just got really quickly tierd of awakenings plot and had to force myself to play it.
  23. I did not expect this topic to be this popular, yeah there are a lot of off topic things but still... On a few things a saw in this topic: I don't think that awakening has the best gameplay, I think thats radiant dawn, it just has more depth to it. Yeah, I think the designs of the character look bad, and some things don't make sense (like why is lucina and chrom wearing riding boots when they are never on horses as lords... and this is not mentioning the fanservice and knight and cavaliers). Music, while it's good, I don't find it as memorable as in the earlier games. And yeah, the thing that has madde me dislike the game (even more), has to be the fanbase (which I pretty much mean gamefaqs)
  24. since it's getting closer to a year since awakening (I'm from europe so it's 19 april), have your opinion about awakening changed? Mine really haven't, I still think it's below avarage fire emblem with bad story telling, really unbalaced combat, so little respect for the games it's supposed to be a sequel to it makes me want to cry and pretty much an overglorified waifu game. What are your thoughts on the game now?
  25. But why would Emmeryn send him to Ferox without any kind of help from, for example, a diplomat, why would she only send Chrom who confesses that he is bad at that kind of stuff, when the safety of their country relies on it?
