  1. Here's how I'd do it. Takumi and Leon are early to mid-game bosses and you can either choose to kill them or spare/capture them. Killing them will give you some rare item or other in game benefit but sparing them could open up other more diplomatic options later on. For Sakura and Elise, I think you should be able to recruit them from the opposite side on the condition that you spared Takumi and Leon. If you killed the younger brothers, Sakura and Elise will be bosses but are only captured after the battle. In the story, the enemy will capture either Camilla or Hinoka and if you have Sakura or Elise as prisoners, you will be able to trade them back. If you don't trade them, a paralogue will open up to rescue the older sister but the other older sister will be the boss of that level.

Ryouma and Marx will be killed unless a long list of conditions are fulfilled including keeping their siblings alive.

I think there should be a difficult way to save/spare everyone, but only the younger sister should be possible to recruit.

That's actually a very good idea. At the very least, it gives the player options at how they want to handle things.

After all, Radiant Dawn is another example of "doing x things will save a character".

  2. I guess my question is, is being a manakete an ability or is it a part of being a species? If it's an ability, then both dragons and humans with dragon blood can be manaketes. If it's trait of the species, then only dragons are true manaketes. I guess it's a matter of perspective, is the dragon or the human the true form? Is Nah a dragon with her powers sealed in a dragon stone or a human with enough dragon blood to use a dragon stone?

Interesting point on the longevity. I wonder if Kamui will outlive all his siblings because of his higher concentration of dragon blood.

I don't know. So far, Kamui seems to look the part of the middle child of the family. If I had to guess right now, I don't think it'll be an issue, but what do I know.

  3. It depends on how you define what a manakete is. If it's someone who can use a dragon stone to transform, then yes Kamui is one and his siblings are not. If it's a dragon (as in a species) that takes on a human form until they use a dragon stone, then Kamui is simply a human with "dragon blood". I'm not bothered by the distinction. Kamui is a manakete, in practice if not also in name.

Question: If a Elibe, Magvel or Akaneia Manakete lost their ability to transform and was stuck in their human form, would they still be a manakete?

Well, I would imagine they would. Even if they couldn't transform, they would still have things like their longevity and such.

  4. To answer non-SMT fans' questions:

Atlus is the single best localization company in video games. They localize pretty much EVERY SINGLE GAME, even ones that are so obviously not going to be commercially successful, they localize anyway just for kicks. They also do a very good job, and release localization really, really fast.

Yep, a huge reason why they're a fan favorite company. Companies like Nintendo and Namco could learn a thing or two from them.
