  1. In Search of Victory:

My choice as well. Though for the purpose of nitpicking, I'll note that In Search of Victory is slapped onto the name of every PP map theme of the game and Leaf/Leif is the song's name proper.

EDIT Oh right, shoutouts to FE3 Dragon's Altar, since the EP final map themes seem to get disproportionately less attention.

  2. *cough* RabbidLuigi, Greenscorpion64, Fawful's Minion, QuarterGuy, Maverickhunterzero75 *cough*

I don't think the 'countdown artists' (if that's what they still call themselves lmao) are informed enough to construct well-justified top lists on anything but the series they are most familiar with, and as those are generally not the lists they stick to, I'd disagree.

  3. question, have you run into any issues with Marth not being the first unit in the party? When I messed around with FE3 I remember the game freaking out whenever he wasn't the first unit.

also, I'd totally play B1RR. who even cares about balance, that's part of the fun of FE3!

Yeah, the game over happens whenever someone performs an action. Everything else can be changed without issue, but the unit names will have to be edited through some other measures. The same also applies for other scenarios, whereas Lorenz's 'name' (what's labeled as 'name' in the Nightmare modules evidently connotes more than just the name) has to be Shiida for him to recruit Tomas, whose name also has to be Castor to be recruitable.

Haha, true, that's also a large part of the charm of RR in the first place. You'll get Chiki and Xane in the first chapter anyhow. Samson also seems like a reasonably viable unit, but I doubt the other mooks will get any better no matter how I try to balance the others.

EDIT: To be fair, I think when I made these a while back I didn't round stats with .5 or higher decimals up, so they might not be as hopeless as shown here in the end.

Oh yeah I finished the book 2 modules, going to finish my for-fun mod first, but I'll do book 1 after. Can I attach them to a post or do I have to use another site?

Attaching them to a post should be fine, as far as I know.

  4. EDIT: Also if I recall right Elice has quite good growths herself, will she be a class that uses the Falchion? Or stay caster (And start as mage or cleric, since a cleric lord would be interesting and frustrating at the same time)?

Also of note, replaced characters if the chapter is suspended and resumed it reverts them to the originals, I have no clue why (Though on an emulator you would never really need to use the feature, but I still found it interesting).

EDIT (Again): For a Jeigan replacement you could use Gotoh instead since he does have unused data and Est could replace Shiida (And be not broken for 2 or so chapters)

I'm sure I'll at least make Book 2 Nyna a mage as getting four clerics in the first chapter would be way overkill, and you never see her as a cleric in the entire game (she's also a sage in FE11, fwiw). Changing Elice to a mage isn't all that bad of an idea either for quality of life -purposes and is definitely an option, but I'll probably keep the Falchion as Marth-exclusive.

Oh wow, you're right. I'm glad it seems to be an issue exclusive to the suspend feature, though.

Taking Gotoh into account would make things more interesting, but necessitate a few tweaks. He doesn't seem to have a starting level here, but that can probably be assumed to have been 18, as it was in FE1/11; I might also want to offset his inclusion by removing another character from the recruitment list altogether. On the other hand, there are people who think balance changes such as this go against the concept of a RR patch anyway, so we'll have to see what to do when the time comes.

  5. I've been taking notes for potential Book 1/2 Reverse Recruitment patches for a while now, and the army/reinforcement editors would finally make them possible (though I'd still have to edit the names in some other manner to not screw up Ellis' seizing capability or recruitments, seeing as changing unit names through the army/reinforcement editors results in that). The lack of Book 1 modules wouldn't necessarily bother me, since not too many people would be interested in B1RR to begin with and it'd have some serious balancing issues by nature.

[spoiler=C1 Est, what a balanced unit]

  6. IIRC it's impossible to reach the C10 thief before he empties one of the chests without a 10 mov unit (unless you Javelin crit or something). Movement is also a good quality of life stat in a game where much of the map design is just running for a few turns before encountering the enemy.

I'm glad his offensive lead isn't any higher, seeing as there are obvious benefits in him leaving all the brigands in the first 4 chapters with 2HP whilst taking a negligible amount of 3 damage from counters; it's also a quality he's unlikely to lose even if he gains a level. Even with a Steel Sword he'll continue to have 4 AS which is enough to get roughly the same effect on all Cavaliers up until C16 or so. It's also worth noting that Horseslayers don't deal any bonus damage against Paladins and he almost never has a reason to equip or be afraid of an enemy having one.

Jeigan will unquestionably become subpar in the long run without investments, but I'll still make the claim that he's definite top tier material, and as Jeigans always are, good.

  7. but Awakening is way easier to break than the others, and there's literally nothing in the game stoping you from doing it

Like, the game itself kind of expects you to get a lot of EXP on a unit, seeing how the enemies start with very inflated stats, and from that to soloing with Robin, it's just a small step.

I don't think FE7 is nearly as breakable as Awakening.

Yeah, the stat inflation is definitely a big problem in that regard. But I don't think lowmanning FE13 in practice is all that different from throwing Sigurd/Marcus/Seth at everything and it's probably something people would tend to avoid, even on first-time Luna playthroughs, to get themselves a better experience. Still, I'll admit it's probably the worst out of all the Lunatic modes thus far and definitely a step back from FE12's (can only evaluate by hearsay on FE14 though, thanks NoE).

  8. Barst is legitimately one of the better units on H5, he can't obviously compete with Sheeda/Sedgar/Wolf but starts to outshine his competition beyond that (he does a lot better on the bosskilling front than Wolf/Sedgar as well). You also only need 18 spd to not be doubled by Camus and only need to be able to take a 40 attack hit, so I'm pretty sure Barst can do it without delving into obscenely expensive Poleax forges.

EDIT It seems to be pretty effortless to get him into 2HKO range with an unforged one, now that I've taken a better look at it.

  9. Yeah, it's definitely more snappy with katakana, but the effect is still there with Abel->Alba even if the relation isn't as prominent in the pronunciation.

All this makes me feel bad about my procrastination on FE5. It's only that game and FE2 and I'll have completed every FE and can finally move onto finishing TRS, but with FE5 I'll have to make a choice between an English script that kind of screws up the UI or the Japanese version where I can't really make anything out of the script but can work with the UI.
