  1. I agree with Phoenix on that no matter how offensive the content is, there shouldn't be violence over it. It deserves to be ridiculed, but it's certainly not worth killing over, and what happened was tragic.

That being said, as for the magazine in question, I think that that is very offensive. Should it be removed from public sales? No. However, the right to free speech does not give you protection from criticism. CH, another magazine, or anyone in a country with free speech rights can say whatever they like, but many fail to understand that freedom of speech does not equate with freedom from being called out for their stupidity/insensitivity/whatever else.

  2. trump is a level beyond plain speech

there's a difference between being politically incorrect and being factually wrong but refusing to admit it

I will concede that. The main point is that he has displayed an inability to act and speak as one who would hold the office of "leader of the free world", as it's often called.

  3. I'm interested to hear more conservative perspectives about Trump, as people seem split on him for different reasons. My very-conservative immediate family thinks he's an "immoral" blowhard who's only running so Hillary will win, while my even-more-conversative extended family thinks he's the only one in the race with any guts. Plus, the main problem the GOP has is that everyone who doesn't want Trump wants someone different from all the other dissenters; there are too many candidates and none of them are very strong.

In other news, that debate was worth seeing just to hear Lindsey Graham actually open an argument with, "Look, don't vote for Hillary Clinton."

I appreciate Trump's plain speech, but plain speech doesn't really have a place in modern day politics. Especially from a guy with a reputation of being as arrogant as Trump has been. I want him gone because he will split votes too much, and if he somehow won the Republican primaries, the liberals would tear him to pieces. He's just not doing any good for the Republicans. Hopefully he's out of the race soon.

I agree with that. Also, Perry describing Hillary as "good at email".

  4. If a woman is letting you know that she's not using birth control then it's not deceitful. That basically means you should act rationally and get a condom.

That's not what the hypothetical said. It said that the woman told her husband that she was on birth control, but she actually wasn't.

In my mind, that is incredibly deceitful and wrong of someone to do. If a pair is at the stage of the relationship where they could potentially have children, then they should be open about it.

  5. The first GOP debate is tonight (actually two; the seven lesser-polling candidates will debate at 5:00, then the ten higher-polling ones at 9:00). I keep waiting for Trump to say something so stupid that even the far-right will turn and run, but after the little-to-no amount of backlash towards that McCain comment I'm starting to wonder if it'll ever happen.

I'm almost too cynical about politics to support anybody. Sanders seems to be one of the only honest ones but I split with him on a variety of things.

Far-right (well, relatively speaking) person here. I've hated Trump from the start. I don't want to sound like I have a "better than thou" attitude, but I've never seen why someone could want him to get the nomination, unless they are a liberal who wants conservative votes split. He's good at what he does, i.e. making money and being Donald Trump. I highly doubt that he would be good as a president. I really hope that he will drop put of the race totally, and I hope he does it fast.

Personally, I'm really interested to watch the debate tonight, as long as some unexpected conflict doesn't pop up. I've done a fair bit of research, but there are so many candidates in the GOP this cycle that you have to do a ton of searching just to have a decent grasp on it all. Right now, I'm leaning towards Rubio or maybe even Cruz, but I'm still far from decided.
