  1. I hate that too in this game. Even Chapter 1 had that issue where some of the tiles that look like they could be Forest tiles were actually Plains tiles. Not sure how you figured out which are Plains and Desert in this Chapter but I find it helps if you look at the bottom screen map. The darker orange-like squares are Desert; light colored is Plains; green dots are Forest.
  2. I would say Brave for the Might and increased durability over Eirika's.
  3. My apologies. I forgot about those facts. Never had to put Mist in BK's range and personally never used Resolve on Ike even after getting it. As for Ragnell, I would agree with both answers. I don't even recall there being an in-game scene for Ragnell and Alondite being used for 2-range (lending credit to not being able to see stats).
  4. Ike doesn't necessarily need to use Aether. Even if it's possible the way Severlan says it, you can't forget about Resolve/Wrath (or Nihil, if not confident) Ike either. As far as I've checked it, Maniac BK doesn't change from Easy/Normal/Hard BK. The only Maniac change was to Oliver. BK moves in Chapter 24 Hard mode. He's going to try to proc Luna (though I've never confirmed if that's the case even if Ike has Nihil, but I would assume BK is still programmed to attack close). In Easy/Normal, BK won't be moving around so Mist has a better chance to kill that Bishop. In Hard, it should be easy enough to get to the Bishop as long as you have Mist hug the right (I think that's where the Bishop comes from?) side of the map and Ike lures him away from her. An Ike with at least 21 Speed can with Resolve. If you remember him proccing Aether and doubling (outside of Aether's effect), though, then that would be wrong.
  5. Just for clarification, a no grind run means no use of DLC fighting, or does it also include Risen spawns? I will be sorely mad at myself since a Thief Risen group spawned with a Dracoshield.
  6. Why would you need to reset the levels of your growth gods, Wolf and Sedgar? General!Wolf is the only Knight/General I grew to like.
  7. Ah. That's good then. Thanks a bunch!
  8. True. Up until Chapter 3, she was having trouble doubling even with Chrom at C Support, and even getting in good position in Chapter 2 required her to get a lucky crit to the Mountain Barbarian. Oi. I don't remember the enemies in Chapter 7 but I have no qualms pouring all resources into Avatar. Thanks!
  9. I believe what Levant is saying is that you can promote from Barbarian to either Berserker/Warrior, hit lv. 10, and then reclass to Hero. And yes. Edit: In the same post, would like to thank Czar_Yoshi for the answer earlier. I wasn't expecting you to give full details like that, but I'll surely credit you if the run goes well!
  10. Either have to deploy a whole bunch of Galeforcers and maybe those that can use Mire/Armsthrift from a distance. You can also add onto the Golden Gaffe funds by equipping Despoil and Leif's Blade since enemies won't attack you at all in Golden Gaffe.
  11. Finally got to Chapter 4 in a no grind! So now I have access to Renown items (which I'm considering not using the weapons in there). I'm not sure who to use the stat boosters on between Chrom and Avatar (the only couple I'm doing). Their stats so far: Lv HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Res Weapon Ranks Chrom 5.77 24 8 2 9 12 6 8 2 Sword C Avatar 14.33 (+)37 14 11 (-)9 10 15 10 10 Sword D, Tome B (First time playing with code option, so please excuse if it looks horrendous) Spirit Dust will definitely go to Avatar, but the rest I'm unsure. From how I remember, Chrom kept getting weird stats in level ups, barring Spd (his first level up even gave him Mag of all things). He's starting to get better thanks to C in swords, B support with Avatar, and C with Lissa and Fred and I feel safer having them together during Enemy Phase, but he is still a squishy Lord. I would think Energy Drop and Dracoshield to Chrom so he can give +1 Str and Def to any pair-up but Avatar might get the best mileage out of any stat booster maybe? The Renown Second Seal I could of think using on Chrom if I have Avatar go Grandmaster for Rally Spectrum--but I am still debating about buying an Avatar/SpotPass/DLC character for Rally/Staffbot. I wanted to have Lunatic(+) earn its namesake after I unfortunately broke Lunatic with DLC grinding and extra items.
  12. Haha. I could possibly save myself less restarts and headaches if I didn't have the mentality of "KILL ALL THE THINGS FOR EXP"--which does include waiting for all reinforcements. I need to learn that the effort to kill enemies in Lunatic is not directly proportional to the EXP I will gain. And having uncapped stats by Endgame is not bad. That's good to know. Thanks. I always knew about forts and stairs, and sometimes I get surprise-attacked from the edge reinforcements. Especially if the enemies come from the area I start the map from. I really need to learn about benefits and costs. I guess I'll ask a question here. I want to attempt Lunatic(+), possibly a No Grind run. I know probably one of the most efficient ways to do so is to have Robin (F) x Chrom, Lucina, Morgan, and just a whole bunch of staffbots/rallybots. But I'm a little irrational and like to use Chrom!Inigo, which I know means Olivia's going to need to get trained fast so Lucina isn't screwed. I'm thinking of not attempting this on my first run (probably going efficient Chrom x FeMU) but in another one. For future reference, though, what would be a good way to train her? Dancer (lv. 10) --> Pegasus Knight --> Dark Flier (Galeforce) --> Dancer?
  13. I wasn't trying to say Dance isn't useful. More like because of the overall lack of non-fighting related missions (Seize, Escape, Talk to X, etc.), Dance's uses are limited in Awakening. As I've noticed in my Lunatic run, enemy reinforcements tend to act a lot more in the same enemy phase that they arrive. If one doesn't know when reinforcements come in a chapter, Olivia might just get slaughtered in a turn you thought you were completely safe. Though this is coming from someone who's doing their first Lunatic run and had gone in without memorizing reinforcement data. In my future Lunatic(+) runs, I hope to know reinforcement data by then. Sorry if that bit was confusing.
  14. If you don't want to autocombine items, I'd say have someone that you're not going to be using carry them. Autocombine shouldn't work in their inventory. Otherwise, good job so far. Sucks about that str tonic shop enemy occupation. I guess it's meant to limit your resources/make you think on your toes about what to do (always keep a healthy stock in convoy?).
  15. The main site and subpages (including where all the info for Awakening is) definitely has a focus on the gameplay and internal mechanics. They do keep a record of support conversations, but I'd say that's negligible compared to the other info. The record just shows a completionist view of the game. It's not a bad topic, truly. But it is a gameplay-oriented site/forum. And there are some people here who do pairings because they like them and not for stats. I am of the camp of Tharja x BENCH/LONER STATUS, but that would mean missing out Noire, and I don't hate Noire. I'm so sorry, Donnel.
  16. Depends if allowing grinding and SpotPass team item buying. Well, if you're grinding on DLC and allowing SpotPass team item purchases, units like Donnel and Inigo are more possible to obtain. If not, units like Donnel and Inigo should be avoided. Generally, people say the less amount of pairs, the better. But don't expect Stahl!Kjelle to go far even with grinding and the less amount of pairs.
  17. Some people like to power through the game; some like to enjoy it as they want to; others for other reasons. The outlook for the whole "selective breeding" mentality in FE:A has to do with the difficulty selected (Lunatic(+) particularly) and, well, just people wanting to make their experience easier. ("Work smarter, not harder," I guess?) I mean This kind of thing was even in earlier titles, what with the whole "5 bond" support system in FE 7/8/9. Edit: I agree with shadowofchaos' point about the forum.
  18. I feel like as though we should make a creative writing workshop thread, haha. That could be fun, if it is allowed on SF. In regards to the thread's original topic, I put my OC's into the game with the idea that the OC's are not the tactician. Mostly because Robin's personality is nowhere near close to my OCs' personalities. I feel the same way too. I'm an English major with a concentration in creative writing, and I have more focus on characterization than plot. Sometimes I worry if people will hate my character too. And sometimes I have to remind myself of something: People will dislike me or hate me in real life. Why should I worry if my character is hated if I honestly could care less if some people hate me in real life? Perhaps because there will also be people who like me for me, and there could be people out there who like my character for being who they are. Heck, I have gotten good and bad reactions to the same character shown to two different-minded groups. Sometimes I have to disregard certain advice because I have only shown snippets of the story when s/he is at their absolute worst or their absolute best. Maybe it's best to put the whole work forward rather than just on a chapter-by-chapter or passage-by-passage basis. That way, people will not be giving their opinions about a character as you're writing and you will get incluenced to change the character. I haven't read your work so excuse me if I'm stepping over boundaries. More than likely, Sangyul is having a problem with how the story is executed. Execution is very much a key in any piece of fiction. Two stories can have the same kind of content, but if one treats romantic love as something one has to forgo all their aspirations to become a satellite to their partner and one treats romantic love as a relationship of equality, they will elicit different reactions. From what I'm understanding from Sangyul's post, it seems Ralph has no other role but to be the main team's cheering squad. He has no personal goal; he has no arc; he has one role and that is to ENHANCE the main team's morale. It's not always bad but it shows that he is there to elevate the main couple rather than be his own character. He's almost no different from being a plot device. The main characters are going to get the most attention, but you can't disregard characters that you've given names and faces to. They should have their own agency as well, even if they're not under the spotlight, if they want to be taken seriously. I would recommend maybe making a fiction focusing on Ralph if you haven't done so. Don't mention Frederick or Kelli--or, if you must, it's a passing mention. Go through his history. Histories could almost be like works of fiction themselves! I've done the same with my side-main characters so I can speak to them and ask them questions about how they react and how they dealt with their pasts and how they will deal with their presents and futures. Treat him like a main character of his own piece and see what you can discover about him.
