  1. It doesn't work. I tried and they still loved each other. Which was weird because I remember that another character died in a previous chapter and Lachesis didn't love him anymore. Oh well, it doesn't matter now. I killed her and now Levin loves Fury. I'll revive her once I pair up Brigid.
  2. Thanks everyone for saying hi :)
  3. Hello there! I'm Erik :) I discovered Fire Emblem through Smash Bros and it didn't take me too long to play Shadow Dragon and cosplay as Marth because I liked the character and wearing a cape. While I ended up not beating Shadow Dragon and my friend's attempts to lure me into Gaiden failed, I decided to revisist the series again now that I have a handhelf ready for emulation. I've already beaten Blazing Sword and I'm now playing Genealogy of the Holy War, which I'm liking very much. I want to eventually write a good overview of the series, but I always promise to write more and almost never do! Name: Erik Twice Favourite FE Game: So far, Genealogy of the Holy War Favourite Game (other than FE): Android: Netrunner, Team Fortress 2 Favourite FE Character: Too many waifus, can't choose. Least Favourite game: I suffer from an irrational hatred of Final Fantasy X. Favourite song: The Flight of the Bumblebee Country: Spain. MSN/Yahoo/AIM: None, but you can follow me on Twitter (@ErikTwice) Hobbies: Game criticism, writing Good Point: Sharp-witted. Has best avatar in the history of the universe. Bad Point: A bit too argumentative. Procrastination-prone. So yeah, that's it. Nice to meet you all :)
  4. Why should there be? A good game can come in many forms, like any other form of art and there's no proper lenght all games should fit into just like there's no page count that fits all books. This is not to say a particular game can't be too short or too long for its own good, there are many poorly-paced games out there. But there's no secret pattern of perfection in art that all works of a medium should strive for. And while I can understand that the price of entertainment is always a factor, I can't help but notice that most gamers not only have huge backlogs but that most games are not played to their completition. With the magnanimous offers of retailers and the quick depreciation of games just a few months after release price it's difficult for me not to think that game lenght is overrated as a factor in a purcharse. A couple days ago I saw the three Commandos games, which are strategy masterpieces for less than 70 cents each. I can buy indie games like FTL or Fez for a few dollars or even a single cent thanks to Indie Bundle and not even open them because I'm too busy playing the incredible Thief or checking the classics found in Taito compilations. Even if you are on a shoestring budget, you can buy four or five games per month and still have money to spare.
  5. Yeah, you need to conquer two castles which are pretty far away from each other. I don't think it's possible to beat them so quickly. While it's more than possible to reach that village in 14 turns and then make her attack the boss, I don't think my units are strong enough to do it without abusing the save system. There are enough trinkets in the game anyways, no need to rush ;)
  6. Hiding her in the castle doesn't work, sadly. I think I'm going to restart the chapter and get her killed. I don't think I can rush and capture the castle before they fall in love (14 turns) and I don't know how to cheat my way through.
  7. In general, Fire Emblem seems to reward alpha strikes in which the enemy army is completely destroyed before it can counterattack. If your characters are well positioned and powerful enough defense doesn't matter too much because they'll only be hit when they attack and not during the enemy's turn. Enemy formations big enough so that you are forced to become exposed to them makes high-defense characters better. They also make movement less important as clinging together is vital to avoid being hit from the side.
  8. I wanted to match Levin with Fury but before I could have them talk he fell in love with Sylvia, despite not being nearly as cool. What can I do to fix it? I can reload a save fom the beginning of the chapter but I'm not sure it would actually help since they gain love points just be existing on the same universe and Fury still isn't a match for the dancer in Levin's heart. If I kill her, can I make Levin fall in love with Fury and then revive her? Or is there an easier way to do it? I know LevinxSylvia is a good pairing, but I don't like it from a narrative point of view.
