  1. I was going to continue arguing my point, but then a mod decided to reduce my argument to a strawman and it really drove home how pointless this whole thing is.
  2. I'm not saying it's above critique. I'm saying you shouldn't support it's removal for only part of the playerbase. Again, this isn't about an unpopular feature not returning for the next game in the series, this is about a feature that was already there being removed. Completely different scenarios.
  3. Nope, he only needs an A support. The marriage mechanic is still 100% optional despite what people want to claim. There are actual bonuses to that one, but it's still not required.
  4. No, no you're not. Because, for the fifty millionth time, it was an optional feature that has no effect whatsoever on the rest of the game unless you choose to use it. The people who wanted it are missing out, and you have gained absolutely nothing from it's removal.
  5. You know what? Yes, I am saying that. I'm getting kind of tired of saying this, but fine, I'll say it again. People who didn't want to use this feature, or any other, never had to. So yes, while they shouldn't be as upset about it as the people who actually were looking forward to it, everyone should be upset about the removal of content in the process of localisation. We're not talking about a feature that wasn't well liked and so didn't make it in to the next game in the series, we're talking about something that was already there and was then removed for non-japanese players. This is not some moral victory, it's plain and simply the removal of an optional feature in the game, resulting in the people who wanted it losing out, and people who didn't want it gaining nothing.
  6. I'm genuinely disappointed in how many people are just so happy to let the gaming industry get away with removing content during localisation. "It happens all the time anyway" is not a reason to just deal with it and buy the game anyway, it's a reason to be even more upset.
  7. Maybe, but I'd probably get just as much fun out of buying some other game, with the added bonus of not supporting business decisions I don't agree with. Fates is hardly the only game on the market.
  8. Not really. I know this is a fire emblem forum, but sometimes it feels like people on here seem to think I'll be missing out on some huge, life changing experience by not buying fates. It's just a game.
  9. I don't want to support a business decision that results in me getting an inferior product to the one another group get, so I'll spend my money on something else. This really isn't all that complicated.
  10. That's because the instant you tried to defend it you were accused of being a pedophile or a rapist or some other such idiocy. Since, at the time, it was in the game and didn't seem to be going anywhere, it wasn't worth the hassle of defending it.
  11. The point is, people who don't want to use the skinshipping mini-game never had to, but because those people apparently can't just not use it and instead have to insist it's removed entirely, now the people who did want to use it are shit out of luck.
  12. That's not true and you know it. The vast majority of people didn't give a shit about it one way or the other.
  13. I'm sure if you tried really hard you could miss the point even further.
  14. So an equivalent analogy in your case would be that the rest of the chain is selling pineapple pizza, but your local store is not. You'd be disappointed, right? Maybe you'd just buy another pizza, or maybe you really wanted a pineapple pizza, so you'd leave the store entirely. I'm not saying that nobody should buy fates just because the skinshipping has been removed, I'm just saying I totally understand why they won't. Although in my case, it's more about the fact that I don't want to support a business decision that results in me getting a lesser version of the same product than another group of people would get.
  15. I'll bite, and fix your analogy for you. A large pizza store chain has just announced that they will be offering ice cream pizza in the future. Later on, I discover that my local store is not taking part. I do not have the right to force them to give me an ice cream pizza. I do, however, have the right to be disappointed. I have the right to inform them of that disappointment. And most crucially, I have the right to take my money elsewhere.
  16. I regret buying that game so much. I bought it as an impulse buy when I saw it in the shop, but when I found out how much content I was missing out on I was furious. I no longer buy games without doing some research first. As for the 'lack' of outrage, pretty sure that has more to do with the utter lack of advertising that game had. Nobody knew it existed in the first place, so they couldn't get upset. The people who did know about it were, naturally, freaking pissed.
  17. It's a good thing I refreshed and saw this edit before posting, because I was just about to add this. By some people's logic, since it's not a 'core' gameplay element, there'd be no reason to be upset about the removal of multiplayer, but even though I'd likely never use it I'd be very upset if it had been removed.
  18. I'm not really sure what your point is. I don't expect the removal of skinshipping to kill the series now, either. Doesn't mean I support it.
  19. 100% honesty here, I've never played it so I couldn't say. In general though, I don't like changes between one region and another when it comes to games. It's not really about censorship or anything like that, I just want to have the options other people get.
  20. Just because it's a part of the game you, personally, aren't that bothered about doesn't mean people can't be upset about it's removal. All this 'it's not real fire emblem' stuff is rubbish anyway, and completely misses the point. What the game is, or what the feature that has been removed is, is all besides the point. A perfectly reasonable gameplay element has been removed in the localisation process, and people are upset about it because it looked like it might have been fun. Therefore, since a part of the game that looked fun has been removed, people are reconsidering whether they want to spend money on this game.
  21. I never had a pre-order to cancel, but I don't think it's about 'entitlement'. It's about not wanting to pay for a game that has had features removed, and there's nothing wrong with that. It doesn't matter if the 'core' is still there, an aspect of the game has still been removed. Frankly, I don't understand why people are so happy to let companies get away with removing optional content precisely because it's 'optional' and therefore doesn't 'matter' as much. The whole game is optional, since it's a game.
  22. "I don't like vanilla flavoured ice cream, so nobody should be allowed to have it." Some people like vanilla ice cream. Some people wanted to dick about with a stupid game mode where they get to poke a cartoon character. There is no possible way that removing such a harmless feature 'improves' the game, any more than removing vanilla ice cream from all stores would 'improve' their stock. I'm going to spend my money on a game that made it over intact, rather than one that had features removed because some people can't stand other people enjoying something in a different way to them.
  23. Well, guess I won't be getting Fates then. Anyone got any suggestions for games that made it over intact that I can get instead?
  24. I don't, personally. I'd be extremely surprised if it were replaced with anything at all. That won't stop me making dumb jokes though.
