  1. Shame. One of my biggest gripes about Say'ri, Tiki, Anna and Priam in Awakening is that they were unique and interesting characters that you got, but since they could support with NO ONE you never had a reason to use them. Sucks to see Crimson and Yuugiri probably get assigned to that pile.

  2. Reading through 100 pages was not easy. Got caught up in the gamexplain stream so that didn't help. I finally finished catching up with the Hoshido stream that played through the game and now I'm off to watch Nohr too. I'll probably do streaming tofu, mynameismaurice just wasn't appealing to me.

but holy heck the twists and new information that we're finding out is crazy! Right now though I'm most interested in making sure the hot spring doesn't actually increase support levels. If it doesn't, I'll probably forgo it in favor of leveling up the other facilities like the arena.

  3. I'll be honest. The amount of fan-service did make me a little apprehensive at first, but watching a stream I can relatively safely say I'm no longer worried about it. Sure the small bonus you get from the Fire Emblem Monomie thing and the hot springs for support grinding may be too tempting to resist, but overall the main campaign seems focused on it's own thing.

I support the gay/lesbian options in the game. I'm more squeamish about the marrying the siblings who I guess aren't actually your siblings part, but I'm not the developer of the game, IS is. If they chose to include that option, I'd prefer to honor that option rather than take it away. It's all about free speech and whatnot, so censorship isn't really my favorite thing. Besides, it's not like Teenagers can't handle a little bit of fan-service in the form of this stuff. Same with marrying the gen 2 kids. I wasn't a big fan of it in Awakening, and I'm not the biggest fan of it now, but I'm not about to rally the 'troops' in an attempt to have it removed. They chose to have it for a reason. I'll play the game, probably have a ton of fun with it and then realize my worries were unfounded and only hyped themselves up because I didn't yet have the game.

So nah, I'm not gonna let the amount of fan-service worry/affect my decision.

  4. Edit: if the Amie thing/character customization gets censored/removed in it's American release then i'll be upset, the suggested incest i'll expect to be altered since they changed it in FE:A.

America already censors enough stupid crap in the world, but gore, violence, anything of the sort, it's all allowed, but sexual themes and nudity? God forbid we allow our minds to experience things that we will experience one way or another through life.

Yeah it's mostly wondering what/how much will be censored in the american release. I'm kinda beginning to wonder if they shouldn't just keep it as is and let it fend for itself. Free speech and all that, but also sometimes when things are changed or removed its really easy to tell and just hurts the game more >_<

  5. That looks so good! I seriously hope that 2-in-1 game makes it stateside.

I feel like they'd want to release the third path quickly to keep the game hot while it's still relatively new. NOA could potentially be working alongside IS to localize it? We'll just have to wait and see though!

That's what I'd think too. Especially with Fire Emblem still being new to popularity over here you wouldn't want to drag out a release of big DLC like that or you'd lose out on people being interested in it.

  6. I really appreciate all the replies.

Just to clarify, I have no issue with someone having concerns or criticism and then expressing them - I have just been surprised today by the sheer persistence and scale of the negative reaction i exposed myself to on the subreddit earlier. I haven't been following the pre-release information closely due to work commitments, so to go from a position of relative ignorance to today's subreddit was eye opening.

I really really genuinely was starting to think that everyone following the game was fully and completely up in arms about .... well... everything.

No worries. I think the biggest issue is all most of us can rely on for another half a year is the news we get out of Japan about the game. People see the my castle stuff and the quotes like 'trying to create a living anime' and freak out because they jump to the worst conclusion about it.

To be honest, that quote is nothing new. We've heard constantly that games are trying to be 'interactive movies' from developers for years. Is it a mistaken approach? A great deal of the community feels so and we're slowly seeing the genres open up a bit more and be their own things. However, there will always be games trying to be interactive movies. In that sense, it's no surprise that a Japanese game is trying to be an interactive anime. Anime is big business in Japan. Not necessarily all the otaku merchandising that comes with it, but anime production itself and the art form is hugely important. In that sense, it's not surprising that japanese game companies emulate animes when making their games.

Even with all of that said, I'm not a hater of anime or movies or games that try to emulate them. When it's done right, those games are by far some of my favorites. Xenoblade Chronicles ring any bells? Highly acclaimed cult JRPG now that was on the Wii? Yeah, they were emulating anime with that one. Done right it can be a very good thing. Done wrong it can be horrible, but most rational people just have to wait and see before making their judgment. What you're likely seeing is kneejerk reactions and people who automatically associate anime with crap whine about things they don't know whether they'll like or not yet.

So don't let the haters get to you. let's wait it out and enjoy the news when it comes. hopefully, it'll be good news. :P

  7. i'm personally hoping they do- i really want that artbook, tbh. concept art and the like is my weakness.

it's also mentioned it's going to be sold as two over here, which is another reason i want special edition. i'm hoping that they do end up releasing or making more than they did, as there was such a high demand. plus, it would increase my chances of getting my hands on one, lbr....

and also, yeah-- the DLC doesn't come out until next year, but the special edition gives you a code for it. so you basically have it preordered, if that makes sense.

I hope they do. A couple of my friends are on the 'if they don't sell a two in one I probably won't buy the game' bandwagon, and while I'm not, I'd still like the special edition for the artbook and such.

Also, the DLC doesn't come out until june of next year? Yikes, that's going to be a long wait. Hopefully when we get the game over here there's either enough replayability to keep it fresh for a year or NOA plans to translate the third path quickly/at the same time and release it two/three months after the japanese version of the DLC. Somehow, I doubt that though.

  8. But if after the marriage proposal, one of the characters die on the battlefield or decides to backdown from marriage - wouldn't the nextgen character be forced to disappear?

Because I find it hard to believe that a simple act of saying "I love you" = nextgen characters. Nextgen characters are physically produced you know?

Once the Child character appears in the current timeline/dimension, the future/dimension that child came from is already changed/ceases to exist. In that world they did not ever meet their future/alternate self, but chose to travel back in time/across dimensions to help their parents. Their real parents already had them, so the man/woman dying in battle would not make the time traveler/dimension hopper disappear.

  9. Knowing Nintendo, they'll probably push both paths rather equally, with a slant on Hoshido in the public eye and a slant for Nohr in the more dedicated gaming sense (Social Media and Dedicated Events). Post-Release in the event the game is received well, we could get trailers promoting the critical response like with Awakening. Or, they could give us something like this (please no!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LM-s5C0dnZs

Dunno what you're talking about. This ad is hilarious to me. Though admittedly I might not realize it was advertising a game so...

  10. My biggest fear for this is that marriage and children will now become a staple for Fire Emblem, and they will remain in all future releases of the franchise... I understand that IS is moving onto new plateaus, but did it really have to be like this? Oh well, I still love FE for being what it is and will continue to support them either way.

Let's all just hope Fire Emblem remains a tactics RPG with dating sim elements rather than turning it the other way around.

I agree with you there, to be fair. As long as the main focus is on the gameplay staying the same and the cool stories and characters, we're all good. Besides, there's more than enough dating sims already. I just meant I like being able to ship the couples I like together inside the game itself, rather than speculating on boards about it.

But yeah, FE is always gotta be about the strategy first. You aren't missing me there.

  11. If you're only there for the gameplay and watching all the My castle stuff didn't make you think you'd be unable to do all the gameplay elements you need to, go for it.

If you want the story and characterizations, you'd be better off waiting for the US version. There are always some inevitable changes made, but overall the experience is better when you understand what's happening.

  12. Simple.

Because she's a forced waifu like Sumia.

I would assume they bond over their similar circumstances. Why she accompanies you no matter the side, I'm not certain of. In Hoshido, it may be that she's been treated far more kindly there than she was in Hoshido, but we've not seen her relationship with the Hoshido siblings. Did they treat her well like the Nohr siblings treated Corrin? Did they shun her because she was a prisoner? We don't know.

For Nohr, it's likely because Corrin confided his plan to reform Nohr with her or she came up with the ideal in the first place and suggests it to him, so she takes responsibility by accompanying him.

I'm looking forward to the third path after playing the first two though. Should be a barrel of fun to take on both sides (Hopefully) and force them to stop fighting.

  13. I think the Siblings on the Nohr side join you later on.

Even in Hoshido just by siding with them did not make all four of the siblings join you instantly. It's more that they are vital parts of the story and will join you at the specific points.

But yeah, it's weird to see so many promoted units overall. Like others said though, I think for Nohr it's because of the higher difficulty and overall grinding seems less useful in this game (Particularly on Nohr where you cannot grind). So giving you stronger units makes sense.

  14. Just a Big Heads-Up!

The release is in a few days and this topic is going to have a huge overhaul:

    I will be listing:

Everything involving the Marriage and Support System

Which Units Can Support Which Units (Both Romantically and Non-Romantically)

    Children Units and Mechanics

I do not have the game, nor can I understand a lick of Japanese, so If anyone has any information to share, post in this topic and I'll update the OP. However, I much rather prefer you to PM me everything for the sake of convenience.

    Sweet! Looking forward to it!

  15. Even if there were limited options for the parents, I somehow doubt we'll see the child be that much more different in dialogue. I imagine they may base the child or invert the child based off the father, since that seems to be what each child is tied to this time rather than the mother like in awakening. That way they can sort of get away with it like they did in awakening. I didn't hate that the children had the same conversations, I just wish that there had been a tiny bit more dfference for Lucina's conversations with her mother/siblings since she was so gosh darn important to the story as a whole.

Also, I always felt that Lucina's Mother Supports suggested that Chrom married Maribelle. Lucina's fashion sense being so off kilter felt like it would really only bother Maribelle. Sumia and Olivia seemed to nice to let that effect their love for her, and Sully wouldn't give a hoot. Maybe Female Robin would, but it's not like she knows all about fashion herself (Being amnesiad and all that)

So I guess in that sense if he children aren't a big deal this time it won't bother me as much if their supports aren't unique.

  16. Love is great, but I wouldn't go to war knowing the fact my loved one is worried sick that they could get informed that I died. Have you seen 'Dear John'? Seriously tho, these Fe characters sound pretty greedy.

"War is better than Love, because you either live or die, but at the end of love, you neither live or die..."

I think it's more because they forge bonds in battle. Those bonds cause certain people to be drawn together in a more romantic way. It's like when you know a person at work. Sure, you're co-workers, but outside of the workplace you may become friends because you happen to work together everyday and you get along okay. That may eventually turn into romance and marriage. When you're around the same people all the time, you're more naturally drawn to certain members of that team.

Something like that. Also... it's kind of just a thing for shippers to get into. We're going to ship it anyway, so why not let us marry the characters in game? At least then we know the characters get to have some happy in the middle of death and despair and terror and faceless and family killing and...

  17. Am I the only one that thinks Flora may be related to Azura? They have the same hair color. Yeah, you can pull the no-hair-genetics-in-FE card, and two characters can certainly have the same hair color without being related (no indication of any relation between Titania and Jill, for instance), but that's why I say MAY BE, not definitely.

Flora doesn't have to be related to the other Nohr royals either. Who ever said that Garon had kids with just one woman? Or perhaps the woman he conceived Azura with also had a kid with some other dude and that kid happens to be Flora. And they happened to both inherit the same hair color.

I wish Flora was the central maid instead of Felicia though, I like Flora's design better. Her hair color is my favorite and her pigtails are kinda cute too. ^^

You aren't the only one. I don't think I hate Felicia or anything, but I'm not a huge fan of what we've seen of her character so far. I know it's mostly an anime thing, but I can't believe they would let Felicia be a maid when she utterly fails at it. You could claim it's because of her fighting prowess, but even though her fighitng isn't super special (At least during gameplay) wouldn't gunther/gunter be more than enough for that?

  18. Perhaps there's still hope left for the Nohr path. Whatever happened to them trying to appeal to the oldschool fans that liked how supports worked in the past, revealing romance shit at the end? Were those just empty words? We'll see.

I think the Nohr story is how they're trying to appeal. They're keeping in the mechanics that made their series popular enough to continue, but Nohr being a much harder path is meant to be a shout out and thank you to all of the fans that have stayed through them the entire roller coaster. The marriage system and children is more a mechanic than throwaway now with the stances (Support levels influence the boost people get) so I doubt we'll see a huge return to the romance that happens after the story. Though most of the characters still don't begin married life until post-game (I mean, in awakening everyone met their future kids but only Chrom ever had time to actually have a kid, somehow...)

^NeonZ beat me to the punch >_<
