I dont see anything P2W in the FEH Pass currently.

However what i think they should have done:
    For all Players:
    - Rewind
    - Auto-Battle function
    - Stat boost to the Resplendant Hero

    For FEH Pass users:
    - Summoners support for 2 additional characters seems fine
    - Cosmetic change/Resplendend Hero
    - Allways double SP and EXP (quadruple during weekends)
    - allways double Hero merits
    - The quests

This seems like a solid compromise. I'd add on an extra free summon for each banner for subscribers.

It's a shame they don't make Resplendent boosts available to all. If they did, I think people would be pretty on board with the pass existing, even if they didn't want to pay for it.

Probably Lull Spd/Def or Repel/Close Call if i get that.
could remove timepulse, and slap on Panic Smoke (and basically make Bylass, Larcei lol).

but even with my 3H love, i'm not understanding why any of those 3 Lords are near the top 10. I can sort of see Bylass-lad because at least Ruptured Sky/Fury 4/DC - but still.  I'mma doing a Side-eye.

Lull Spd/Def sounds nice, although it might be nice to build her in a way so she's not like every other swordmaster archetype (lol).

I suppose not everyone is voting for the best community options, rather they want their favorites that they don't have yet. All that said, people are MASSIVELY dumb, which is the only explanation for Ike being there. I wonder if we'd have better results if the characters were listed in alphabetical order instead of the completely arbitrary "number of taps" which slants voters towards commonly owned (because they're f2p giveaways) units.

exactly.  and she's a +10 project of mine. (hopefully she can appreciate this dedication that i am going to give her by coming to me frequently in pity breaks in the circle where i get the intended target/free pulls and the like). it's really bugging me i can't try to get her to at least +2-3-4 via Legendary but i have to save for CYL/Legendary Dimitri/Claude.

Besides DC and Time's Pulse, how else would you build her? I've been enjoying Windsweep on Bylad.

I have never got to tier 27 either. I have one Altina, one Naga, two Eirs and two Peonys. I have an interesting strategy in mind once I get hands on a second copy of Altina and a second copy of Velouria which is why I will support her in the VG. But other than Sothis and Lif, the top 8 is disappointing to me. I'm going to vote in Surtr to top 8. Since Altina is guaranteed to be in the top 8, who are you going to vote for to bring into top 8 at the expense of Edelgard, Leif and Alm? Alfonse seems like the best option but I dislike how duo heroes have been implemented in the game so I'd rather not promote them especially because Alfonse and Sharena duo unit overshadows Sharena, just like the story. Also, I want Surtr merges. Surtr shits on your boy Lyon and shows us what a true villain is like.

Alfonse is a solid choice for fodder and as a unit (Special Spiral for Lyon, om nom nom).

Surtr? More like Suckr! Get back to me when you win a voting gauntlet.

  5. I think it would be a cool feature for the pass if it gave you permanent focus banners for resplendent heroes you own so anyone who really liked a character could keep spending orbs to +10 old 5* units. Of course, there are more player friendly solutions to this, but this would be an improvement over them getting Thanos snapped and maybe coming back for a single banner in who knows how many months.

The thing is, those supports take a while to build and they're something you're adding to your units. The other stuff you mentioned don't affect your units stats or anything.

Send an inquiry and keep us updated! The only thing I confirmed with my inquiry was about retaining Resplendent Heroes.

Personally, I want Altina to lose so ranking high in Astra would not be harder.

I mean, it is still fine if she wins, since I do really not need a Gold Throne, but it would be nice to have.

Gold Thrones are impossible (hyperbole) to get right now. Even getting to T26, I missed the cut for the Silver Throne. I suppose I'm lucky to have gotten a few Gold Thrones while there weren't so many players in T21+

  7. I dunno if anyone else was wondering but since I was curious about whether we'd get to keep the costume and stat boost of Resplendent Heroes if our subscription expired so I made an inquiry.

In short, the answer is yes! While I agree that it's quite scummy to lock QoL improvements and strengthening old heroes behind a paywall, this is a fairly reasonable price to get particular heroes for the costume (and extra merge). Some characters really need the art "refine". I won't be an active subscriber but I'm considering signing up for a month because I like Lyn and Cordelia.

Just because the banner has the most popular characters not yet in the game doesn't mean the banner in and of itself will be exciting to a maximum number of people. For example, imagine the banner has Nils, Jill, Shinon and Awakening Anna. A Nils fan might be better off if he came on an FE7 banner because chances are, the Nils fan is more likely to be a fan of other FE7 characters. But it is in IS' interests not to throw all their popular characters in one banner while it is not necessarily in the player's interests.

Just because I'm a fan of Blazing Sword doesn't mean I'd want all of the possible characters on that banner. I generally only want (not to mention can only afford) 1-2 units on any banner. If a banner has even one character I want on it, it's good enough for me. Also, as CYL4 has shown, people are often more upset or are at least disinterested when a banner is only from one game. A full Blazing Sword banner does nothing for Awakening fans, for example. I'm not saying that single game banners are better or worse than mixed ones, just that there is no universally agreed upon "best banner", although Farfetched gets closer to this by being characters people voted for.

Your contradiction of my point is a straw man because I never said IS chooses a bunch of unpopular characters that nobody wants. Nor did I say it is better than farfetched to have a banner of nobodies.

The main point I wanted to hit was not about IS choosing absolute nobodies, just that it's not better for IS to choose banner content than it is for players to have some sway. I want regular outfit Mikoto in the game, but if people voted for other characters then I have to concede that is what the community wants the most.

Premium kits accelerate the rate of power creep so while I can understand where you are coming from, it can be spun as a negative.

I can agree with this point, which is why I stated it last, as one of my weaker points. I do think the Farfetched banner was nice, however, because all the heroes on it got good kits which were enticing to pull for. Loki adds way more to the game than Mercedes does.

Vote for an offense mythic hero as they are more valuable than their defense counterparts. Furthermore, they help in Mjolnir strike to score higher. Astra season is terrible if you don't have a single mythic hero so I recommend voting for Naga or Altina. I prefer Altina myself but Naga is a superior support unit.

I don't think Naga is a great support unit. Her whole gimmick is handing out the dragon killer effect (and buffing herself, but it's clunky and I never see people using her that way) but hardly anyone uses dragons on defense besides Duma, and there are plenty of counters to him. Altina is a great vantage sweeper that acts as a counter to L!Alm and Thrassir, two characters you'll probably see a lot of.

  10. I really miss Farfetched and I don't agree with the sentiment that "we don't need it because many of the higher ranking characters made it in anyway. Even if the original runner up characters are already in the game, Farfetched still gives us THE MOST WANTED CHARACTERS not yet in the game. It's still a reflection of player interests which is a positive for new character banners.

To contradict OPs point, no a bunch of unpopular characters that no one wants chosen by IS is not better than a group of characters chosen by the players.

And for a final point, the Farfetched heroes are generally given premium kits so that batch of characters isn't going to be screwed like a character might be if they were chosen as the demote. I understand that being 5* locked has its own issues but getting a shit kit and/or statline is a pretty big let down.

  11. Man, them choosing the winner by a VG is a guaranteed recipe for salt. I can be glad the voting isn't biased like last year ("You can vote for any Ike, I mean hero, to make them available to all players. You can even vote for LEGENDARY IKE!!! Or any other hero you want. But especially LEGENDARY IKE! Woooooow!" Kthx Feh.) but the result of this event could be the 8th most popular character winning. Upsets are really unimportant for a normal VG but this has a significant award.

I think I'll vote for Altina anyway. She's a good unit and a good choice for all players because she's a hero anyone can use for AR (we already have two free Light heroes, so free Astra heroes ought to be a thing).

That’s a completely different situation though. I never said Comparison on its own is a bad thing because it isn’t. It’s completely possible for a character and a story to be better written than another. I think Ferdinand is just Tobin except infinitely more well written. Like I’m not gonna say Bernadetta is a worse written character than Marianne simply because I relate with Marianne more as a character and that her arc ends in a happier place cause that’s a subjective argument. It’s fine to have that opinion but it’s not an objective critique.

I guess it depends on the specific argument being made. Saying something like "Depression is more relatable than social anxiety so Marianne is a better character" is a poor argument but something like "Marianne's emotional issues are treated with more respect than Bernadetta's which usually have her freak outs for comedic purposes so Marianne is a more tastefully written character concerning emotional trauma" carries more weight.

To address your specific example, while it should be worded to inform on the subjective appeal, one could make the case that Marianne's arc is more agreeable because she has more growth.

I hate the usage of buzzwords/phrases like "nuanced" or "morally-gray" when discussing 3H's plot. It just seems like another excuse to justify one character as good, and another as bad which defeats the purpose of using the terms to not see the characters as black/white. For example, if you like Edelgard and hate Rhea, it's almost always like "Edelgard is morally gray, Rhea is a murderer/tyrant" or if you like Dimitri and hate Edelgard it's "Dimitri is a nuanced character, Edelgard is 100% murderer/tyrant". Gets old really quickly and it's a claim I see sooooo often in the 3H subforum

While I wouldn't call those buzzwords, I agree with the general sentiment. Dimitri/Rhea/Edelgard are all morally grey, but that doesn't stop people from picking a camp and demonizing the other characters. Leave it to fans to make a nuanced conflict a black and white one. I suppose part of that is by design of the routes being biased in favor of one character but I think it's also a matter of tribalism.

Ugh I just dislike comparing characters like this in general. I mean comparison isn’t entirely bad but I hate when it’s done in a way that sounds like “Oh this character handles their trauma in a way I find more agreeable so they are an objectively better written character” like fuck off with that. People are different. Characters are different. We all handle our own issues in different ways. No one way is “more valid” than another. One way can certainly be more healthy but in regards to character writing that sort of judgement is for the most part moot because it’s those very flaws that ground a character to reality and make them relatable.

Would you agree that it's possible for some characters to be better written than others? And if that is possible, that it's reasonable to compare two characters that you think differ in that writing quality?

I really don't want a tome Dimitri. or a horseback dimitri. I know a lot of people are channelling the Rodrigue angle which is fair. but they could also have him channel Loog, or just be lie his daddy

with two eyes instead of one

but especially because he's already a Cav, i'd really hope they don't double down on his horsebackness (it doesn't even really matter about his legendary self) - only because A: there is Reinhardt, and B: there are soo many mage cav options (heck. lance cav options!) - and very litte infantry lance options.

    Spoiler

Lance Cavs are definitely oversaturated (Sirius/Percival/Eliwood all kind of do the same thing) but the fact that Rein is the only prf blue tome cav worth using currently means Dimitri could carve out a unique niche easily. The sky is the limit for how they want to design CYL characters.

As far as Lance infantry goes, we're guaranteed to get that when Dimitri becomes a legendary unit (probably this year) so I'd much prefer his CYL alt gets something different.
