As you said, ASW did Persona 4 Arena and has got a semi-close relationship with Atlus out of it. Torimichi Mori is a RWBY fan himself (explicitly saying he'd like to work on a game involving its cast) and Monty Oum was a Guilty Gear/BlazBlue fan in life. At first it all sounds crazy, but looking at it the choices do make sense.

It would be cool if they initially considered adding the RWBY cast in Monty Oum's honor considering well, y'know.

    Honestly I'd love cross-language.

Like I mean Ruby voice actor in English is the original same with the JP VAs for all the other characters.

Cross-language would be nice.  There is a Japanese dub for RWBY after all, so it wouldn't be too out there.

If I were to guess, naïve characters are easy to expand upon, and their inexperience makes it easier and more sensical for others to explain what's going on, which is helpful for the player. I've also heard that the Japanese love their coming of age stories.

Of course, I agree with you, and I think this has been done to death. Not only that, but in some cases it doesn't even make sense, like with Corrin. Corrin, while sheltered most of their life, is implied to have spent a lot of time reading and having book discussions with his retainers back at the Northern Fortress, and I doubt he read nothing but fiction, especially with both Xander and Leo visiting frequently. The protagonist monologues in Echoes were a fantastic addition that rooted Alm and Celica in Valentia, and I hope that comes back in some capacity.

You're definitely correct with Japanese developers loving their coming of age stories.  It's pretty much everywhere when it comes to Japanese media.  It's sad, considering that even experienced characters can have a coming of age storyline.  I'm pretty sure it's as you say, naive characters are easier to expand and write about.

  3. The ones I can think of at the moment.

    • When people talk as if they know everything about a superhero, but they have only watched the movies.  Yeah, you can be a fan, but don't talk as if you know everything about the character.
    • When I wear my Superboy shirt and people keep saying it's Superman.. I don't know why I get annoyed by this, but I just do.
    • Loud chewing of any sort which coincides with people chewing with their mouth open.
    • Unnecessarily loud people.

What the hell did I just watch? (Has played a bit of BB and UNIB in the distant past)

So this will seemingly be re-using lots of existing assets right? At least that's the impression I'm getting from the video, with newly developed content mainly being the RWBY cast.

From what I can tell, they are reusing assets from their other games, which isn't a surprise since that's basically how Marvel vs. Capcom 1 and 2 were as well.  At least the art style for the characters/sprites look similar enough and not super out of place though haha.

This sounds like the fakest real announcement of a game ever, but that's fine

Basically how I felt when I first watched the trailer.

  5. Suikoden II's opening of starting off in the camp and then running away is one of my favorite starts to a game.  Shoutout to Suikoden III for the opening cinematic.

Persona 5 has a good all-around opening in my opinion, from the cinematic to what you do at the very beginning of the game.  It leaves a lot of mystery and intrigue for what's to follow.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth's opening cinematic is really nice.  The PS1 version with the anime one looks pretty cool, but very 90's and the redone one for the PSP looks really good.  I also enjoy that after you go through the initial story bits, you start off as Arngrim before taking control of Valkyrie herself.

Despite the game being a pretty lackluster JRPG, Fate/Extra's opening moments were really good since it kinda dives into how brutal the Moon Cell's Holy War is.

For worst though, I would have to go with Persona 4.  I like the overall game, don't get me wrong, but it's such a slog to get through everything.  Some can argue Persona 5 is the same way, but I feel like Persona 4 had very little intrigue at the beginning of the game.

  6. Fixing Least Favorites:

    • Corrin: Make them less loved by the cast of Fates.  It's no surprise to anyone who has played Fates that they know that a lot of the characters practically bend over backwards for Corrin.  It'd be better if Corrin wasn't liked by some of the cast and then they grow to either tolerate or like them.  In Conquest, make Corrin have more of a conflicted personality of wanting to save people, yet they have to harm others.  Corrin's personality is too one-noted that I honestly can't see myself being Corrin which causes the dissonance of myself and the MU.
    • Tharja: I get that they wanted to go for that abusive mother thing when it came to Noire, but you didn't quite see that when Noire and Tharja interacted with each other.  It's hinted and talked about, but not something we get to really see.  Not that I want to see Noire get abused because she's precious, but her backstory would make more sense if we got at least a glimpse of it.  And also make her less stalker-ish towards Robin because it really doesn't make sense to me as to why she's obsessed with Robin.  If anything, I feel like she should've been more stalker-ish towards Chrom.
    • Est: Her ending with Abel is just sad and just the general way she treats Abel is just so wrong.  I get she's mad at him for fighting against Marth for a while, but her immature personality makes it painful to see as she just leaves him in the end.  Seriously, he only fights against Marth just so Est's life is still safe because, surprise-surprise, she gets captured.  I don't mind the outgoing, energetic personality Est has, but her interactions with anyone that isn't her sisters just rub me the wrong way.
    • Alm: Just...fix people's perception of this guy.  So many of the characters, pretty much all of them, are so quick to defend Alm whenever something happens that it ruins Alm's character for me.  It's okay to make mistakes, but having everyone basically say he didn't do anything wrong is what's wrong in my opinion.  Only when certain conditions are met do we see somebody telling Alm that he messed up and even then the whole defending thing kicks in.

    Improving the Favorites:

    • Ike: I don't mind his inclusion in RD, but I will admit that he becomes a little involved with the plot.  I would keep him in FE10, but only have him serve a lesser purpose than he did.  He can still be a pretty important character, but maybe we hear about what him and the Greil Mercenaries are doing for most of the game and then we get him way later.  However, if they want to keep Ike as one of the main focal points of the story of RD, then at least have Micaiah compete with him in the spotlight.  Also, fix his ending.  I find it extremely out of character for him to leave everyone to go on a journey by himself or with Ranulf/Soren.
    • Lyn: Have her be more important to the story of Blazing Sword.  After her part of the story/prologue, she's just kinda there with Eliwood and Hector and she doesn't quite have a presence that I think she should.  As one of the three lords, I feel she does deserve to have more importance.
    • Elincia/Pelleas: The improvement I want for these two are basically the same, as they share similar story elements and roles.  Basically, have both of them play a more prominent role in their respective stories and games.  Not only could Elincia have joined earlier in PoR, but she could've had more screen time.  RD does Elincia more justice though and I'm glad for that.  Pelleas kinda needs more to him in RD as he gives control of the army to Micaiah and he's in some story bits, but kinda disappears then you have the choice to kill him and whatnot.  Again, both could benefit with stronger roles.
    • Lilina: I've honestly seen Lilina as an unofficial lord in Binding Blade.  She's pretty important to the story, while her importance does kinda die off later, but she's still relevant.  Basically make her a mage lord or something and have her shine just as important as Roy.
    • Aran: This goes for pretty much all of the Dawn Brigade..GIVE HIM A PERSONALITY AND A STORY.  Aran's such a simple enigma that I feel like they just lost a good opportunity to make a really cool character.

    Honorable Mentions:

    • Azura: I really like Azura, but she's not quite a favorite of mine.  Regardless, fix her role in the story of Fates.  They tried to make her mysterious, but they kind of failed to do so.  Her endings just don't make sense to me considering she's supposed to play a critical role in the story.  I also feel that Corrin kinda steals the spotlight from Azura.  Sure, Azura even tells the siblings to pay more attention to Corrin, but Azura could've prevented so many things if only she would've talked to the siblings or y'know SHOW THEM VALLA.
    • Camilla: Similar to Azura, I like her, but she's not quite a favorite.  If we could understand why she's obsessed with Corrin, it'd be great.  She has so much potential for her story that just didn't happen which is sad.  Give us a reason to understand Camilla's character rather than rely on her design/looks to garner fans.
  7. Do you drink juice?  If so, what's your favorite kind of juice?

Do you know any martial arts, and if not have you ever though about learning any?

I've learned kung fu (as stereotypical as that may sound haha) and hapkido.  I've also learned a bit of jiu jitsu and took a class on MMA.

  8. Hmm, there's quite a few I would like to see.

I would love to see a Romance of Three Kingdoms styled FE game where you assume a more interactive role with certain characters.  Others did mention a Pokemon Conquest styled FE game, which could work as well and would be pretty interesting.

Others also said a fighting game, and I'm for that idea.

Even though I don't have a lot of issues about TMS, I'd like to see an actual SMT x FE game where I can somehow have a team with Demi-Fiend and Ike fighting against Lucifer.

And I'm not opposed to that one idea that IS had about making and FE game in a futuristic or modern time setting rather than medieval.  I want this more than I probably should.

    This, this, all of this.

  9. Honestly, it it's just a graphical update to Fates, I wouldn't be interested at all.  However, if it improved upon Fates such as fixing the story bits (although that would have to take a some time), adding in certain supports (Ryoma and Scarlet were made for each other!), and just generally fixing Fates' errors, then yeah I'd probably get it or at least consider it.  But if it's just an all-included routes package with a shiny coat of paint, meh.

  10. @The DanMan I really hope it's good as well.  And it would make sense for BlazBlue to have the most representation, considering BlazBlue is in the title.  Again, really hoping for Nine because I'm biased and she's my favorite.  I'll be super hyped for RWBY reps if that's a thing.  Although, if Ruby is the only RWBY rep, that's fine at least RWBY is getting more exposure elsewhere.

@TheGoodHoms I also do feel that the lack of Guilty Gear characters is a huge lost opportunity as well.  A lot of people would love to see that crossover of Sol Badguy vs. Ragna in an actual game.  While I really don't enjoy the DLC practices that most fighting games have had for years now, I wouldn't be surprised if Guilty Gear characters became DLC.

  11. So this got announced not too long ago at EVO.

It's essentially an Arc System Works crossover fighting game with BlazBlue, Persona 4 Arena, and Uniel with guest(s) from RWBY.  I'm not quite sure if there'll be more RWBY reps than just Ruby herself, but I would love to see the main team and Pyrrha.  And I'm generally just excited to see all of the anime fighting glory that is the beauty of Arc System Works.  I'm not very good with their fighting games, but I'll at least try.  Here's hoping for more Persona reps (mostly Akihiko for me and maybe even a P5 rep because why not?) and Nine (Konoe) from BlazBlue to make it in.

Any thoughts, concerns, hype, general "what the hell did I just watch" comments?
