  1. Validated? How so? I never said that he was bad, as far as I see it, he's about my equal. If bragging rights is all there is to it, then why bother doing it in even less turns? Aim for S rank with the least amount of turns to spare as possible. If you can manage to do so in 317 turns exactly, than you would be my superior in everyway. Sure thing. It will take some time, probably some months, until then.
  2. And what's wrong with that? I too did hit S, but Instead of rushing for the sake of rushing, I rushed to have the S rank and didn't care about having the lowest turn possible, since there's no profit in me for doing so. As I said before, I will just record another S rank run and show to you guys once it's done. Not really, since I give good advice. More than comparable, she outclasses him, specially if we go by A-S rank runs, since Dart is forced to not promote due to the very expensive Ocean Seal. Heaven's seal on the other hand is cheap enough and more than makes up for it in promotion gains. Also doesn't help that Dart joins slightly underleveled.
  3. Alright them, then I accept your explanation about bringing pokemon and apologize for calling you out on it. I do think before endgame though. That's precisely why I use growth units. Since there's Battle Before Dawn, Night of Farewells, Cog of Destiny, Four Fanged Offense (Linus) etc... Not really. I don't drag the team down, on contrary, I make sure the team is propely built instead of dragging the team by overelying on Marcus, it doesn't take skill to use Marcus, to have a proper team does. If it's so obvious, but I still give it, is probably because you sound like you don't get it. Considering that I am reading here, I should state those pieces of advices, regardless if it's obvious or not. And what's wrong with that,? Mental gymnastics? It takes little effort to state what is common sense to me. I will give advice whetever you like it or not, I'm not pointing a gun at your head to heed it. I am a veteran, and thus I will dispense advice if I feel like they need to hear it and I won't let anyone stop me from doing so. I don't know this shockgod guy, but I do know that I'm a FE veteran, that's the proper label to give to someone as me. Anything less is wrong by default. The problem with Marcus is that he only doubles early enemies often enough. He has 11 SPD, that might seem good, but reminder that means that he only doubles enemies with SPD 7 or less, which from that very list presented here, aren't as common as you make it seem, the worst part is that considering Marcus' growths, his SPD won't be able raise much further, if he reaches lv 17 he might double a bit more, but he's not reaching lv 17 when there are better units with better stats by then. Kent is going to end up taking most kills that would go to Marcus (assuming one would only use Marcus and Kent and not the myriad of other good units that are available) since Kent is just as good as Marcus before even promoting if we list averages. And yes, that's mediocre SPD, he should be doubling more enemies than those he can. Even Kent's SPD isn't that impressive until he promotes. Lv 15 Kent Cavalier: HP 31 STR 11 SKL 13 SPD 13 LUK 4 DEF 8 RES 4 Lv 5 Marcus Paladin (the more likely level for him to be at by then, assuming one uses him as one should) HP 33 STR 16 SKL 17 SPD 12 LUK 9 DEF 10 RES 9 This is what one should expect around chapter 19. As one can see, STR, SKL and RES are the only things he truely has going for him. A cavalier is catching up to him before even promoting, if we take into account promotion gains later on, it becomes quite obvious why Marcus can't compete, specially since Kent deserves the Dracoshield more than Marcus does, since he's the one with the growths. Meaning that at this point Kent would have 10 DEF, the same as Marcus is. This isn't to say he's useless, only that he's not as great as people stated before. Balcerzark's team wasn't what I would call powerfull, only decent, barely so in terms of power. Why have both, when Sain, Kent and Lowen are better than Marcus? That's already 3 Paladins, more than you will ever need. Marcus is just as waste of a deployment slot at that point even if we just take into account Kent and Sain only, since you will want your mages, Lyn, Raven, Rebecca, Serra, Lucius and possibly bench Guy in favor of Pent if one wants an extra mage. Just those units alone take all or almost all deployment slots in a lot of chapters, sometimes even forcing you to bench Lyn in favor of Raven in chapter 18H. Not at all, the more you rush it, the more effort it takes, specially if you have to drag yourself down by using units like Marcus and Louise. If you are going to use pre-promotes, use good ones like Geitz and Pent who at least have some growths, specially Geitz who is pretty much Lyn with axes. They are looking to make it faster not to make it easier, but to further challenge themselves, I on the other hand I'm not interested on it, since there's no profit in me to do it faster. For regular playthroughs, A rank is good enough, and for a S rank run, the closer one is to the minimum turn, combat and funds requirements, the better, not so much for experience, since more trained units means more power, which is always a good thing. But your bosses aren't demanding you to be ridiculously fast do they? Because that's what happens in those LTC runs. I never had such problems, since I do my work fast enough, now that I'm doing some temporary work, but I hear complaints about other workers trying to rush the job only to have pallets poorly sorted or have a plastic film that isn't tight enough due to such rushing. It doesn't require you to be very fast to do those propely. That's not what I meant in that phrase though. 10 turns to spare, refers to Balcerzark having close to the requirement limit, which as I said before is a good thing, since the more of those turns you consume to make your team more powerfull and well equipped, the better. Just on the Ostia's defense chapter, Hector should easily gain levels due to his great DEF. He doesn't need too many turns when there are enemies crawling everywhere. By the end of it, he would be around lv 10 Great Lord or so, specially since he already gains 3-4 or so levels in the Thunder Axe chapter.
  4. Seems like your team is somewhat passable in terms of power, but I see some units whose stats make little sense though, Hector being lv 7 Great Lord for instance, he should be lv 18 or so, if you only had 10 turns to spare then that's alright and I thank you for your effort into posting this. Once I make my S-rank playthrough after finishing my regular playthrough, It will show you how to do a more balanced playstyle between effectiveness and efficiency and see if it might be of some help to you.
  5. It's a pity that she doesn't join earlier. Like chapter 24E/26H or before that, she would have been decent if so. Otherwise, her availability is just too low to make her a good unit. If you can find a way to put her to some good use, then don't let me stop you though.
  6. Well, at least you said with all due respect, that's an vast improvement over how the others have been behaving here. I don't have any problems with being melee locked, since the damage she takes from lances is acceptable and Mani Katti is almost godlike how it destroys nomads Knights, Cavaliers and other annoying enemies and you have enough uses for the entire game. Rebecca and Wil are good, Rebecca is faster while Wil is stronger, Rebecca is the preferable one, since she doubles easily even with heavier weapons like Brave Bow (meaning 4x attacks) as a Sniper, Nino is bad however, because of her poor availability, she would need to join at chapter 26H at the very least or before to be of any use. No it's not, 1-2 range is not that much of a thing other than a few chapters and Barte's averages show that he's going to take a long time before doubling. Also you have more than enough units to kill everything that survives during Player Phase, and those times you can't kill all of them, you usually can't do it with 1-2 range weapon either due to their meh accuracy and MT. Not to mention that a large portion of enemies attack at 1 range, meaning that you will find yourself wasting javelin and handaxes on enemies that have 1 range. 1-2 range is usefull, but a unit can easily compensate by being better in other areas. You shouldn't play it whitout LHM to begin with, you are only handicapping yourself. And if you want to skip Lyn mode, there's a better way to do it, by keeping a save of chapter 10 or 11 around.
  7. But the thing is, they have the bases to level up. And you would rather drag a Jaigen around with their poor growths instead? I will take my chances with the growth units, since there are dozens of them, while Marcus is only one unit. Even if one gets remotedely RNG screwed, I can just replace them with another growth unit, like Geitz for instance, since he has both good bases and good growths. The best part is, even when RNG screwed, chances area that a good deal of screwed units still end up having more stats than Marcus. So unless you are expecting your luck to be abysmal when it comes to growths, I don't see why it wouldn't be reliable. The chances of most growth units being RNG screwed is incredibly low, it would be like a lightning bolts striking the same place twice.
  8. On contrary, it's precisely because I give them the worth they deserve that I'm good at this. They aren't the end all be all, but one look at Marcus averages should have told you that Marcus isn't all that.
  9. That's why I buy swords instead. Pratice Katana for SPD and Nohrian Blade for DEF. Sakura may be a healer, but she has good HP growths to begin with. I always use Rinkah, since HP is hardly an issue for me when I have DEF to burn. STR is 45% so it's decent when coupled with her personal. She has good bases for a lv 3 unit though. I have litle issue using her, since she even helps Micaiah level faster due to taking hits more often. It required little babying on my part. I find her to be barely decent, only slightly above average, but I usually use her at least until endgame.
  10. True, Lyre it's possibly worst, didn't even remember her, since she's a laguz. Can't see it with Meg, when she has decent bases and growths, her only problem being that she begins on a map that she can only take a single hit from the enemies there.
  11. He's good enough, but I bet his party was poorly trained. He put too much effort to make it faster, there are easier ways to acomplish the same thing. If you can finish the game and get an A rank, then you are a good player. Balcerzak's flaw is that he's putting more effort in finishing the game faster rather than focus on finding a easier way to play the game (that doesn't involve exploits by the way). If he S ranked this way, good for him, but I have another way that works just as well. I'm one of the more experienced FE players though. Not really, I seriously doubt I'm the only one, when I've met players before that prefer to have a balance between having a powerful team and efficiency. Would you rather put more effort into solving a problem, or choose a method that is slower but works better and easier? Because that's common sense, specially on a job. They want a job done well, not one done fast.
  12. It doesn't matter how many there are to disagree with me. It is since he is the one to mention Pokemon when nobody asked about that, we were talking about FE here. Not really, all I keep seeing is 8-14 SPD for the most part of midgame. He certain doubles a lot before chapter 19, but considering that his SPD is stuck at 11 SPD and that it takes him lv 17 to reach 15 SPD which is mediocre by endgame, I have no reason to keep using him.
  13. I already did it before though. Why do you assume I never did? So my confidence is justified. Not really. It's just as his mistake as is mine. Also, from that list, I can tell you that you just gave me further reason why I shouldn't care about using Marcus. Since he isn't doubling a good deal of them.
  14. You are free to do so. Mind you, on the matter of Arthur, pretty much any Nohrian can be made good if you slap a paragon on it in REV. Arthur is the one that jumped to my mind the most, since I really couldn't find an excuse to ever use it on him of all other candidates, since he has meh bases and is inferior to Effie. As for Henry, he joins at a time where everyone is already close to promotion and Tharja is better than him, he ends up being a redundant unit as a result. Astrid in RD is just too hard to train, I suppose it's possible Makalov is even worse, but I never used either so it would be hard to tell other than their growths and initial stats. Why would it rely on SPD? Why would it be any different from other swordusers? Just because someone is the equivalent of a Myrmidon, doesn't mean that they have to be fast. Hinata's is more of a sword tank, and as far as it goes, he proves to be quite competent at surviving hits, also helps that he has a base of 14 SPD, so his 35% SPD growth ends up being a mediocre growth, but one that still holds up somewhat. He can never be better than Rinkah no matter what he does though. Rinkah has better DEF and SPD, which Hinata can't compete with, specially since as a Oni you ruin his already poor SKL, while Rinkah never suffers from SKL problems due to her good growth.
  15. That would have to be Sophia I suppose, this comes off the top of my head, so I might missing someone. Gwendolyn can still be trained due to early availability and have good stats, Sophia on the other hand has growths that don't make up for her late time and she starts at lv 1 with the stats for her level, pretty much making training her much more diffcult. If I were to make a list of every FE, that would be: FE2: Phyton FE4: Arden FE6: Sophia FE7: Karla FE8: Ewan FE9: Sothe FE10: Astrid FE11: Matthis FE12: Matthis FE13: Henry FE14: Orochi (BR), Nyx (CQ), Arthur (REV) FE15: Phython
  16. Signficantly more difficult? Not to me it didn't, since I always make sure to only use him when he's actually needed. If you have 20 turns to spare, than you overdid it in your rushing. 10 turns and close to that is what you should have aimed for, for the purpose of there being extra in case something goes wrong, 20 is overkill and should be sacrificed for more experience, treasures that you might missed and kills. It's pretty clear that you could have avoided using Marcus more as a result. I don't skip any sidechapter whatsoever under no circustances, they are part of the full experience. 10 turns surplus is what you should aim for in that chapter. Make sure to write down the number of turns each chapter took for that purpose. Effectiveness means in the context of Fire Emblem, to have a powerfull group of units, rather than rely on the bare minimum stats units like Marcus. Meaning basically to have more overall fire and man power. As well killing as many enemies as possible, since you have 20 turns to spare, clearly you rushed too much and there's room for improvement. Well, at least you managed to only get him to lv 4, that deserves praise. He's not invaluable for Dragon's Gate, Kent and Hector are already the champions there. Don't bother with the northern secret shop, you will get Physic staves and the chance for killer weapons later on, if you can buy the chest keys on the southern secret shop, you will spare yourself some turns later on. I missed it, no big deal. Maybe if you made shorter posts, that wouldn't happen. Yeah, and? It still applies to FE, since it's also about building a stronger team. Please, I've been playing this game for over a decade, I have about the same experience if not more than you do, and from I am reading around here, you could do with some advice on my part, specially since you consider my gameplay videos to show my inexperience when in fact it shows that I know better than most. And for the record I have everyright to give advice since I'm a veteran FE player, so the only way you can stop me from doing so is over my dead body. Once I've done my S rank, you will change your tune, and if not, it will only show that you know less than I do. Either way, you lose.
  17. It would be kind of difficult to implement, since Lyn's personal stake is to avenge the attack on Caelin and keep it safe from further incursions. She is there for that purpose and to support Eliwood and Hector on their righteous quest. They could have made it an Lyn exclusive chapter, a sidechapter at that, for her to get her just revenge against the Taliver.
  18. How so? They are mostly a curse. As for funds, you can just use the Silver Card and buy expensive items at the final secret shop and make sure to not use Fell contract, Ocean Seal and the S rank weapons. As for our never ending argument, this is what I sugest, I'm in the middle of a regular run that I'm posting on youtube. Once I done with that, I will move to do a S ranked run and I will show you how one accomplishes it whitout overelying on poor man units like Marcus. This is going to take some months, I'd wager, but at least that way we can put this topic to rest for now while at the same time reaching an amicable agreement. He probably meant that you needed to cut some slack on efficiency and building a stronger team would be my guess. I assume with the way you play, you would have plenty turns to spare for a 5 star in tactics. I sugest you give up some turns to make up for it.
  19. I don't have one though. Nor need to, I know that as long as I'm efficient and effective, than I'm playing the game right. Not at all. The right comparison would be that I forgot that 0.9 doesn't round up to 1 in this game. Since Kent has a 16.5 in DEF. That's why I assumed it was a 2 point advantage, since 0.5 would round up to 1. Oh really? And how do you plan to kill Kishuna in a single turn? Because if you don't, Berserker reinforcements and you still have to deal with the ones near the door. Way too big? Talk reasonable. Genesis is dumb, but at least it makes it possible to get anything resembling a reasonable value to make up for the bugged ones. If you have to do more than what is the requirement, than you are already putting more effort than the chapter deserves. Play it effectively first, efficiency is second place.
  20. Considering the ridiculous amount of enemies that throw themselves at Hector is easily done, specially since there's no shortage of enemies for him to deal with, specially chapter 32x. Want to warp skip? You can do so, but Hector will have to kill at least 4 Berserkers before doing so. No turtling involved, since my turn count is in accordance with the 5* rank requirements or close to in most chapters in the tables in this site. All Hector has to do is to be in the frontlines, isn't that hard. So, since you don't agree with me, is double standards now? How exactly is a double standard when they are two completely different units? -> Indeed. Your point? Because it is not significant enough. -> I didn't say it has vastly so. Don't put words in my mouth. Since what those numbers mean, is that Kent has better stats, if even so slightly. And those leads of Sain don't last long, precisely because Kent has slightly better growths on those very things. Sain has no HP lead, he has 1 point less than Kent from the beggining and a 80% growth against Kent's 85%. You did? Because those proved nothing other than what I already stated before, that Marcus is inferior to Kent and Lyn. I don't know what fftff is, but I assume if it ends this topic and puts it to rest, might as well go there if only so I don't have to deal with this persistence in kissing Marcus foot.
  21. I don't know if it can be done or if the supervisors here have the means, but what about a blocker that makes certain tags invisible? I noticed that topics have tags associated with them, so as long as a topic is propely tagged, one would be able to avoid them.
  22. Considering how usefull he is, he reaches lv 17 in late-endgame with little issue. That's unlikely, Lyn reaches lv 15-18 Blade Lord by endgame, let alone Kent. And that's not going into Hector who almost always reaches 20/20, so quite a few doe realistically reach that level. Except, whitout a self-sufficient team, lategame is harder than early game to begin with, which is why people create that illusion that is less important when it's about the same if not more important than early game, that's why you should have a team that is about stats more than just being the bare minimum by using poor man units like Marcus. Kent is also the 3rd best unit in the game, so there would be no way he wouldn't be part of that team. Wrong. It is neither, since I forgot that you don't round up. I stated that before.
  23. His averages say that he has 1 points higher than Sain by late levels. I Forgot that it doesn't round up. 1) Check the averages. He does have 1 point higher though 2) Wrong again. lv 20 Paladin Kent has higher DEF. And that happens before he reaches that level. Not to mention HP as well and RES, meaning, better tank, and faster at that. It's not random numbers though, I've seen the averages. Marcus is inferior, and Sain as well while at it: https://serenesforest.net/blazing-sword/characters/average-stats/kent/ https://serenesforest.net/blazing-sword/characters/average-stats/marcus/ http://serenesforest.net/blazing-sword/characters/average-stats/sain/ Source: I've played the game very often as well, so don't bother arguing using that argument.
  24. promote ASAP, Echoes/Gaiden is the only game in the series where early promoting is to your advantage rather than hurt you in the long run.
