Yeah, I couldn't find anything on Liv Strander, too. It's also possible that Liv Strander is some sort of alias, I guess.

I knew Gaiden existed before the FE Direct and I knew who the protagonists were. I also kind of knew the plot, let's say that I realized the trailer was about Gaiden the moment thei mentioned Duma and Mila. I started playing it after the Echoes announcement and I'm currently at Chapter 3. I've had a hard time getting used to graphics and gameplay, but I'm actually enjoying it right now.
Like some of you said however, it really didn't age that well and feels very dated. I'm very curious to see how they will manage certain game mechanics in the remake. I think there is no need to over modernize it, it just has to be polished and expanded.

I was talking about how long Fates localization took and how this won't be the case for Echoes :) I know it releases a month after Japan.

Another big problem with Fates was the time it took for localization. It was released several months later in North America (February) compared to its original Japanese release, whereas Europe and Australia had to wait almost a year to get their hands on it. And for 2016 that was a ridiculous high amount of time. That's why for some of us it might seem it died very quickly, but it will actually be a 2-year-old game by the time Echoes is released in the west.
I'm so glad this won't be the case with Echoes (even if they are kind of forced to localize it quickly because of Switch, so there wasn't much of a choice here).

This would be... interesting to say the least. My answer is "not sure", but I'm more directed towards "no" actually.
I wouldn't mind if they add Casual Mode (veterans can simply ignore it, as usual), as for all the other features it is a bit different. I mean, if Supports are present in the game, I would like to enjoy them even if I choose Classic Mode, they shouldn't be left out. Same with new classes. It could be ok with the weapon triangle, though.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing how they will manage gameplay.

Well, I'd say it's going to be considered FE15 in the fandom at least, where I always read about Awakening being FE13 and Fates FE14 (and previous remakes FE11 and FE12). Cannot say the same about IS since I saw them calling Fates FE15 in the Iwata Asks.
However, I wouldn't consider Echoes a spin-off because it's clearly a main series game, despite being a remake (just like Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem). Hybrid or crossover titles like Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and Warriors are generally considered to be spin-offs. I'm unsure about Heroes though, but I tend to consider it to be a spin-off, too.

I personally hope Supports are present in this game, at least in the form of basic conversations like previous remakes (or just for the sake of expanding the original plot of Gaiden and its characters). They don't have to be necessarily marriage related (and even if they include marriage, I hope they leave out the children mechanic because I would be disappointed in seeing another Fates situation in that regard).

This. In most of them you weren't allowed to bring your own units, so even grinding was pointless. Again, I believe an Apotheosis-like DLC was planned but then cancelled.

In the trailer there were scenes showing Mages attacking (Boey and Celica, correct me if I'm wrong) and it seemed to me that they were not holding any kind of Tome, so I'm guessing they're keeping the original Gaiden mechanic for magic.
I didn't see the self-inflicted HP reduction though, but I think it's too soon to claim it's not there (it may occur after the battle animation, similar to some HP reductions in Fates).

Same here, I'm so disappointed :/ also because some of the DLC conversations were actually good ones (such as Azura/Camilla or Leo/Niles) if not better than many of the in-game support conversations themselves.
As others said, I believe they were originally planning at least another wave of DLC in Japan, but then cancelled it for reasons (be it negative feedback or simply they got busy working on the upcoming titles). It feels incomplete even for the Japanese version (5-star difficulty Xenologue where? Missing DLC skills?), but the fact that we're missing just two maps really bothers me.
Supposing they won't announce DLCs in the next few days, but I highly doubt that by now (and FE Direct was just the perfect occasion to do that).
I hope the same will not happen with Echoes DLC maps.

I pretty much agree with SaiSymbolic about Fates storyline.
I might add that I found Conquest storyline not so underwhelming like other people did, but maybe it was because I had read other people's comments months before playing the game (...yeah, I'm from Europe) and my expectations were very low. In that sense, I found Revelation to be the most lacking one out of the three (but I did love the supports between counterparts on the enemy faction so, again, it is a very subjective matter).
Like said before, I think it is definitely not the best FE storywise (I liked Awakening much more), but the gameplay is really worth it (and that is actually much better than Awakening) and this is true for all three games (even Birthright which would be the simplier route).

First FE I tried was actually Blazing Blade, but I never finished it. Also tried Sacred Stones, same story.
Awakening was the one that got me permanently into the series. I know it received mixed receptions from veterans and newcomers, but I have enjoyed very few games the way I enjoyed Awakening. I put so many hours into it (and still do).
