  1. To be fair, our units are muuuuch better against defence than magic for the most part. So she's on average hitting harder.
  2. Eeeeeeh... gotta say I like the old one better. Like details/mechanically is pretty great, not saying the art itself is bad or anything. But there's just something about the torso/armour size that feels off to me. Like its too bulky for a pegasus rider or something like that?
  3. Hmmm... Some of your points will be made much clearer later on in the game. Consider this more of a build up scene to explain the future stuff, rather than something that needed to be built up to. First time I've seen somebody finding this particular scene odd however. Interesting to see. But yes this is a very fun map to play to be sure. I'm still not 100% sure what the victory condition is myself, but its fun!
  4. >My decision Uhhhhhh I had no part in designing this hack outside of a few of my balance suggestions making it through. Which happened after several of the initial releases. With other people agreeing to at least the general idea for them. I mean I have zero problems stealing somebody else's credit if you wanna do that
  5. Well THAT'S different from what I saw to be sure. That ain't a Valkyrie. Interesting. Looking forwards to seeing how you balance her against the other healers.
  6. I think its better that it happened off screen. We've already had our fill of the onscreen related drama. Also gives reason as to why Ash wasn't around during the fight. And yes. The next chapter is one of the most difficult in the game imo. Also one of the most enjoyable to me. A nice and intense defence map without going too far. I'll have a small note I can add after you show off the map. Just a minor edit that had to happen to the map from earlier versions.
  7. 1) Only the one thief. That chapter isn't bad actually if you huddle on the right side with the treasure chests. Trying to hold the starting area is a bit of a trap. Its not that much more difficult than the early defence chapter in PoR imo. 2) I've heard of Res bugging out when you get units back, but not Skill. O_o
  8. Ah, that spread looks ever better! Fixes up Grace's numbers as well, with Owen now being the lord with the low overall total but I'm not worried about him. He has good growths where he needs them. My bet on Aurora's solution is a unique staff of some kind.
  9. Oooooh growth rates are up! 1) It pretty much confirms I just had a blessed Owen and screwed Sawyer, which is good to know. 2) Eagle having more strength is good... even if I find the fact that he gets more Res than Def baffling. I mean I noticed he was getting an oddly high amount of Res for a cavalier but I didn't expect that to actually be planned. I was thinking he had like, 30% Def, 25% Res. Huh. That uh, puts Owen in a very weird spot where he's the one getting the most defence for his group until Darius joins. Very weird but it certainly wasn't crippling early game. Guess we'll have to see how that pans out in the completed game. Unless of course that was mistyped because he has the exact same growths as Saywer on the sheet atm. That could be the case. 3) I see what's being attempted with Oona and Aurora growth wise. I again, don't know if that's going to pan out well enough to keep Aurora competitive during the time she has no weapon but we'll have to see. 4) Yay Charles has a noticeable Def growth! At least noticeable for this hack, only character with more than 35% is Darius. Which I do find weird as cavaliers are normally the second best physical tanks in FE. Still his growths are... almost identical to Eagle's. Only difference is in Def/Res assuming the ones currently posted for Eagle are correct. Huh. If that is the case I'd think dropping his speed a tad to 40% and using it to bump up Strength and Defence by 10% each would add some more variance between the two. Lets Charles be the Darius to Eagle's Axel. They are perfectly functional as is however if those are Eagle's real growths, just a suggestion for variety's sake. 5) Not entirely sure why Grace is getting the Oona treatment total growth rate wise, being the only other character below 280% total. Still if she's supposed to be a glass cannon the current growths are probably fine. I'm slightly worried about how she compares to Marques but I think the 15% edge in Strength and better promoted class will keep her ahead. 6) Liking the balance I see between Darius and Axel: Axel is the all-rounder with a slight leaning to Skill/Speed over Def/Res. Darius hits things hard and face tanks physical stuff. As the comparison between the two should be. Overall certainly an improvement over the last patch, with one mystery that might be due to misreading while typing up a new row and one where I'll just have to wait and see for how it looks later on in the game.
  10. I have special access! Nobody else can preview this map but me! That also explains why the houses didn't work. And why some the textures looked off. Totally didn't take me 3-4 turns to realize what was going on. Anyhow, this does let me have an easier time comparing my characters as now I have access to a prep screen. It would be handy to have the updated growths on hand (assuming those made this cut). Owen vs Sawyer: Poor Sawyer. Sawyer was one level behind, and only beating Owen in Luck and Res by a few points. Owen was tied or ahead of him in everything else. With the Strength Ring, Sawyer had.... 7 magic, 8 skill. The 11 speed was nice... but Owen had 12. While having 14 magic. Eagle vs Charles: this time Eagle was better by a fair margin overall, though Charles had a significant lead in strength and HP, while only being behind in speed by one point. Charles was still able to tank a bit, but 6 defence at level 9 wasn't cutting it well, either was 6 skill. Even so, because of where they were close and where Charles had the advantage I'd actually say the two were.... almost even in value. I suspect I just got a tad defence screwed on Charles. Oona vs Aurora: Both got crap level ups the whole way through. Oona still kinda dominates Aurora despite having noticeably less magic. Oona was crushing Aurora in speed and luck, and then having the horse and light magic on top of it. There was a two level difference, but that wouldn't have changed much in their comparison if Aurora had caught up. Darius vs Axel: Hopefully I'm not misremembering things but I'm pretty sure you changed some of the caps between these two and it looks a lot better with what I got. Darius got strength and defence at least with every level up, Axel got mainly speed, skill, and luck. Belle was pretty decent if slightly fragile (which is fine). Elijah only got HP and Strength for his two level ups. Grace didn't get to level up much, so she's still currently sitting as a weak glass cannon. Stark was what I expected. --- As I said before I like the story changes, they help to tie up some of the previous issues. Looking forwards to the next chapter. Might wanna give that new unit some better stats though. Like I get why their stats are they way they are, but another party member is still currently most likely dominating them. Also might be a tad of overkill in that particular department of weapon usage.
  11. Mini-bug report. After finishing 1-8 where the game used to cut you off, it will briefly show the castle background with greenery in front for convos, and black text in the upper left corner will say "a short range fire spell" or something close to that effect. Lasts only half a second. EDIT: And then it plays 1-9 by just throwing you into the map, with only two enemies. I uh, don't think this version was supposed to keep going?
  12. I uh, don't know if I can due to being on a Mac and running OpenEmu. I tired to do that for Midnight Sun and it was a no go. I'll give it a try again though. EDIT: .....that could be because I'm many many many versions behind without realizing it when it comes to OpenEmu. Newest is 2.0.2 or something like that. I was on 1.0.3. Whoops. EDIT2: Didn't fix the freeze, didn't change how savestates were made.
  13. Here's another bug for ya My game froze after killing Regina. Stark got a level up, froze mid animation, so his sprite is facing the screen right now. But the other units are doing their idle animations and the music is still playing. EDIT: reloaded the stat and tried again with a different character. Froze. Turned off animations and tried again. Still froze.
  14. Hrm, I never had that problem in the previous version. I was nearby within turn 3. If anything waiting that long is causing me problems (though the whole "Aurora is now suicidal" bug is probably the main issue. That and trying to keep the green units from attacking her that long). Another minor bug report: on chapter 5 the archer on screen during the cutscene will have the ! icon over his head that you get when deciding the move of a flying unit. It stays there until you get control and click on one of your units.
  15. Well I was able to get around the Aurora issue by having Eagle rescue the green unit and then pull back. She didn't turn green until the start of Turn 5 however. Is that normal? It was pretty dicey by the time that event finally triggered and I remember it being sooner than that before.
  16. Righto. On Belle's first chapter. Liking the story changes so far. Noticed the one less reinforcement at the top during the first chapter. However, Belle's personal weapon? Suffering the Short Axe glitch from the last patch. Only info I have is Prf/1 Range/5 Wt. Stat wise it seems to be working fine: its 1 more Mt than the Iron Sword, 5 more hit and crit, her stats didn't plummet using it in battle or anything like that. EDIT: Also uh, Aurora ran up to Saywer and somehow started a battle with no weapon. O_o And then the green units killed her. EDIT2: Retried the map, she ran up to a green unit, started a battle, got hit. Other phase started, green unit killed her. Green unit had moved to attack an enemy the previous turn, putting him in her range. This is uh, kinda a problem.
  17. Sweet. I'll be checking it out tomorrow. Obviously the intent is to start from a fresh rom (and I have to in my case: Mac only has one patching tool for ROMs atm and it won't let you patch a file multiple times), but if somebody wanted to apply the patch to the old version just to quickly try out the new maps would it be possible? Or is fresh rom required?
  18. Might have the wrong name. Green dude who notices the uprising planning but just gets caught and doesn't really add much to the story with his two current scenes. Previous guy mentioned it. Thought you guys might have updated the stat stuff already, decided to throw in my two cents anyways.
  19. Finished playing through the hack, it was pretty fun. As somebody else pointed out better than I could: while the actual writing itself it top notch, the story itself has some holes in it. Like the basic structure of the story is good but some points feel rushed in order to set up things. I will say Frozen_Blades81 was slightly off about Owen and Regina not having a convo: they do have one if Owen fights her. I do agree about what he said about the Queen, Seneca, and the fort falling in particular. The fort I was completely confused as to why it had apparently fallen, my best guess was that when they made a hole in the wall they had taken out basically the whole wall. When it comes to fixing the Queen and Seneca stuff, that's probably a bit tricky. I doubt you all want to add more maps to this part in order to smooth out the pacing. The Queen in particular is a problem, and Mangs pointed out the issue pretty well in his LP: we never find her sympathetic. Nothing to even hint that she might be onto something and that Seneca is just too quick tempered to realize it. She just looks like a complete and utter fool that Belle supports because well, its her mother. The Nero thing is easy to fix: have Lily be there with him at the time, have him send her off to warn Stark of what is going on. Have him say he'll stay there to keep an eye on the situation. But hopefully the narration during map screens will smooth out some of the issues. --- When it comes to the units themselves, most of them are pretty good. Sawyer was noooot doing good until about the last two chapters, and looking at the growth rates his are noticeably lower than the other two lords: (265 vs 280 and 285). Given that lords are supposed to have a bit of an edge over regular units, Sawyer could probably use a little bump up to 280 for total growths. As he seems to be designed to be the speedier mage of the two, maybe 10% into Luck and 5% into Skill? Would let him fit into that role a bit better I feel, feel more like a "swordmaster" like mage unit. Eagle... Eagle didn't get a single point of strength the whole time and he nearly hit level 10. His growths say its a meer 35%, and while I undoubtably got screwed on top of that... that's really low for a cavalier. Despite Charles having 25% lower total growths and access to only one weapon type, he felt like the better unit between the two (though by the looks mine got def blessed as he could actually tank pretty well). Eagle I feel should have at least 40% strength, that's the more typical "low but not so low you get screwed over by hitting averages" number. Speaking of Charles, looking past mine being particularly good... 20% defence growth? On a cavalier? With Owen, a Mage Lord, having more? Cavaliers are supposed to be your front line physical units, something Bella's party badly needs. And while I can see that he's supposed to lean more to HP than defence... 20% is crippling. Compared to Elijah, he's equal or below him in everything in terms of growth rates outside of res, making his only true advantage being the horse and some of his base stats. I'd bump his defence up to 35%. Maybe give him access to swords as well even though with how the early chapters are set up he won't be able to take advantage of that for quite a while. I think it would let him compare against both Eagle and Elijah better that way. Darius I didn't get to use much, but I'm worried about him compared to Axel. Same join time, Darius only wins in HP and Defence. While knights are supposed to have that speed weakness, they should be winning in the strength department: they're slow, some amount of trouble hitting, but when they hit they hit hard. I don't know if his base Strength is enough to keep him ahead of Axel long enough. I'd probably swap their strength growths around, and then bump up Axel's res by 5% up to 20%. Makes Axel a more well rounded unit while Darius is a true knight type character. Oona outclasses Aurora pretty hard. Horse + Light Magic vs 15% difference in total growths. I'm guessing you guys don't want Aurora able to attack as that would make Owen's part of the game very magic user heavy, in which case I think Aurora is going to need some kind of benefit. Maybe lower her starting level + increase her base stats a bit so she had more room to grow and take advantage of her higher growth rates, maybe make Oona start off one level higher with her current base stats as well. I think they'll be fairly even if both promoted, but the early game difference as is is fairly noticeable. --- Fun facts about my playthrough: -Stark hit his def growth with every level up he got. 10%? What 10%? -As mentioned above, Charles nearly did the same. Marques also hit it for his one level up. -Darius hit speed with his first level up. Which kept him from getting doubled by mages thank goodness. -Neither Belle or Eagle ever hit their 35% strength growth. -Sawyer was weird. First half of his level ups were all 1 or 2 point ones, and never included skill. Meanwhile Owen was enjoying 10 speed by the end of the game. Last few levels he kicked it into gear though.
  20. Kinda a spoiler there for those who don't want to know anything.
  21. Well, when it comes to Kane and Isaac I can tell you what the general consensus results are for them: Kane is better early on, but by end game Isaac tends to be a bit better. Obviously not much different between the two overall but that's how it tends to work. Both pretty solid units. And ya at this point in the game you have a real inventory crunch. Really have to look at the map and plan who's killing who when it comes to droppable weapons and make anybody left behind hold the maximum amount of items they can. Don't be afraid to burn healing items up to make room either.
  22. Don't believe there's any same-sex pairings. Only a few paired endings in general and most of them involve the main lords. This game doesn't really need many of them tbqh. People are too spoiled by Awakening and Fates, take off your shipping goggles people. I can tell you which one is the most likely "canon" one for Val, but that would be spoiling things. Also there is actually a way to bring things over from "Lyn Mode" to the next mode. But I can't talk about it yet. Next chapter shouldn't be as slow paced.
  23. For the record: Val and Keiran do have a support together. And ya, that whole "go easy on them" doesn't effect gameplay at all. Its just a way of saying "You're capturing them. With swords to the face. Don't question it."
  24. Yes and no. How do I explain this without saying too much.... think of those two like Titania. But instead of being FE9, its more like she (they) are in FE7 HHM. You are absolutely going to use them at the start of the game. But unlike Marcus the EXP they gain isn't a completely waste either, they still turn out pretty solid. Use them as you need to, don't be afraid to have them hold down areas in particularly tough maps, but slowly ween off of them.
