  1. I really like the Cecilia card artstyle. I think I preferred Nephenee's armor when it was less intricate. Amiti looks nice even if it's different, not sure why there are some kind of ribbons coming from it though. Vanguard Ike looks good too, although his face made me think of Greil, and his pose of Itsuki (I know that this pose is pretty generic, but it still was the first thing that came to my mind).
  2. If these are the actual official lyrics, they are pretty close in tone to the fan translation I've seen when the song was first shown. It is very "Kiria-like", and I look forward seeing the lyrics for all the songs, some of them seem really personal so it'll be interesting. The characters' songs are pretty varied in style, between different characters, but also between songs from the same person (Reincarnation and 迷路 Meiro, using Kiria as an example), so I don't think classifying everything as just "J-pop" is going to be very useful. If you are curious, the complete Vocal Collection is not longer available on youtube, but still up here (fair warning, the last 2 could be considered spoilers).
  3. Interesting thread, I can recognize myself in multiple of the playstyles you suggested, I still picked "I play fast/I like to go at my own pace" since I'm mostly adapting to what the situation request of me while still trying to be fast and efficient (which fits more or less the definition of completionist you provided). I'm currently playing Conquest Hard/Classic, resetting each time a character dies, I don't think that perma death is poorly implemented. It adds a lot of tension and forces you to be meticulous, I think it's a good way to teach the player to be better, by punishing mistakes where it hurts. Whether one accepts it and moves on or resets to do better is up to preference, I personally haven't met any player playing in "iron man" though. However I don't mind the inclusion of the Casual mode, not everyone want to bother themselves with resetting, on the other hand, I think Phoenix mode kind of defeats the purpose of playing a strategic/tactical game (I still don't mind its addition to the series just like Casual mode, people can play the game in whatever way they want, and more options means more people playing). It felt weird when I first learned that other people did reset when a character died too. I haven't put a lot of thoughts into it before, but the FE games do allow for a lot of freedom and variety of playstyles from a common base, which is pretty impressive.
  4. Indeed, regarding E3 Zelda will be the only game they will focus on if I've understood the news correctly. I'm disappointed since it's a missed opportunity to promote the game (and to be honest, not only #FE, there are other games that I'm sure people would have liked, Pokemon Sun & Moon just to name one of the most popular), but at the same time, I wonder if it is truly the place to promote a game that will release like 2 weeks after the event. I personally hope that they'll announce a new Nintendo Direct in the coming weeks, it'll be about 3 months in a week since the previous one. Atleast they brought the game at others events, like PAX (not really familiar with that event since I'm not american), and they are apparently doing some kind of event tomorrow (only saw that recently), it's not the kind of overwhelming advertising that games like Smash or Splatoon got, but the game doesn't reach as much people due to its genre and theme, and is hard to advertise because of the second. I'm getting a little sidetracked, but even if they put massive amounts of efforts and money to promote the game, they probably wouldn't get a lot from that. The best that can happen in my opinion is once the game is released, good word of mouth will incite people to try it out, because they weren't interested at first but will give it a chance after hearing that the game is good, or just out of curiosity to see what all of this is about. The way people are receiving the game seems to have changed a lot since its reveal, mostly in a positive way, even if no dub and the "censoring outrage" (outrage is probably a little hyperbolic) have discouraged some, the game also got a boost in Japan after the concert event, so overall, I'm more optimistic than I was a few months ago, and I can only see the situation improve.
  5. I think my current stance on the game is pretty well known at this point. I was skeptical when they reintroduced the game, but still intrigued. After we've seen more about the game and especially after the japanese release when people started streaming the game I was sold. I'm also waiting for reviews to come up, I absolutely expect them to mirror the japanese ones (in fact, not only the reviews but also players' impressions after release). It probably won't change the fate of the game here (won't sell very well), but I think it'll be enough for a starting point that will allow the game to grow further next time, if the hints we have end up concretized. If not, well, that will still remain an enjoyable game to play, especially since there isn't many JRPGs on Wii U. I wouldn't expect that, everything is on Nintendo side, and they are already promoting the game on their own. I may be wrong, but Atlus has only been involved twice, first time when they developed the game, and second time when Nintendo decided to rely on Atlus of America for the localization, and that's it. I don't think they have high expectation for the game, so probably low and limited supply. While the game may end up selling better than their expectations if word of mouth is good, I don't expect it to have a great impact overall.
  6. The game is not bad. If you like turn based RPGs that is, if you don't, then the game probably wasn't for you to begin with, and that's fine. Whether one finds the entertainment theme appealing or not is usually the point of contention, and there is no absolute answer to that. Personally, I'm not incredibly fond of it (I prefer much more classic fantasy, like Fire Emblem), but I don't dislike it either. I probably would have ignored the game if the gameplay wasn't as good as it is. The post above answers this pretty well, the team behind #FE isn't the same as the team behind Persona, and I didn't play DAN, but I don't think they portrayed the "idol industry" too negatively in Persona 4 (it was balanced in my opinion). For #FE, it's not especially that they show how awesome being an idol is, more like the overall tone of the game is more upbeat and positive. One of the negative points I've seen mentioned is that they didn't focus enough on the bad aspect of the entertainment industry, but if they aimed to have a more cheerful game, then it's understandable why they wouldn't put too much focus on that.
  7. The 3 lords are pretty much a given, not sure about the rest, but does someone know when was that poll made ? I've seen no mention on that page and I'm wondering how relevant it is now, both to gauge the popularity of the characters and how they will be represented in Cipher. Not saying that they won't follow it, I'm just curious.
  8. Glad to see I'm not the only one feeling that way, I was secretly hoping for a specific expansion dedicated to Villains at some point, but I don't think they'll do that, but if they include more of them in the upcoming sets (if including them make sense of course, I'm not particularly asking for a Batta the Beast card), I would be fine with that. I'm still a little confused over how they'll do the Revelations/Conquest and Revelations/Birthright thing, what the "Revelations" part will add compared to just... well simply black cards (Conquest) and white cards (Birthright). Maybe more alternate class cards (like Leo Samurai, Ryoma Wyvern Lord etc...) ? Although I'm probably looking too much into things, if they just release more cards to complement already released sets (like set 4 was for red and blue) that would be fine too.
  9. In featured games, don't you mean Blazing Sword instead of Binding Blade (which is releasing next month, set 5) ? I also didn't know that before, but they precisely mentioned インビジブルキングダム / 暗夜 (Revelations/Conquest) for set 6 and インビジブルキングダム / 白夜 (Revelations/Birthright) for this set, I wonder what does that mean for the cards they will feature. Also, not specifically related to this set, but I would like them to release more cards featuring the villains/antagonists of the various games, I thought it could be interesting. They already did that for example with the Black Knight or Hardin (I think ? I've never played a game with Marth yet) and showed Garon and Hydra/Anankos for the upcoming sets, for FE7, it could be Nergal, the Four Fangs and also some of the Morphs. I don't know how much material there is for that though, or if fans would be interested.
  10. I think they actually talked about that a bit after they showed that card (why 1 cost Radiant Dawn Sothe and not Path of Radiance I mean), I don't understand japanese well enough to make sense of what they said, but I think they said at one point that they did a 1 cost Sothe to allow people to use him as a Main Character, same for Sanaki.
  11. I'm partly joking, but they showed multiple merchandise items and called them "主人公" (protagonist) version, with characters like Roy, Marth, Kamui, etc... and without Chrom on it, but Lucina instead. Forgot about that too, I'm not very far in the game and I didn't expect to be spoiled... I think it's a boss in Fates (probably the last boss on one of the routes). For the first question, I'm not sure I'll be able to get that, but I'll try to rewatch the broadcast with timeshift later and check if I can find what they said (even though I'll probably end up not understanding anything).
  12. They actually did announce set 7, can't say I was surprised at Rekka no Ken, after Binding Blade was announced, still pretty happy at that annoucement. I didn't know that set 6 was only Revelations/Conquest for Fates, so it makes sense that they follow with Revelations/Birthright. I suppose Chrom is "officially" not considered a protagonist. Japanese absurd humor doesn't fail to put me in a good mood (the section with Yang, or Kitanishi messing around). The art shown was amazing as usual, especially for set 6. Also a lot of side promotion for #FE. Overall it was a very enjoyable livestream, like the previous ones, however I do enjoy the release livestreams more, as we get to see more cards (also to see Kozaki Yusuke sitting on top a tower of cushions).
  13. 幻影異聞録はいいぞ, stream starting well. Do you mean about Fire Emblem Mobile or them porting Cipher on Mobile ? Hearing about the first on a Cipher livestream before they introduce it seems unlikely, the second would be pretty cool, but I don't see them doing that for now.
  14. Livestream starting in about 30min, I know that most people coming here must already know, but this is just a friendly reminder. The previous livestream started pretty well with a signed card in the first pack opened. I'm curious to see if they'll announce or hint at future sets, can't remember if they did that during previous launch streams. Nevermind, special livestream and not a launch stream, so Cipher caravan and more set 5.
  15. The dress wasn't added, it's also present in the japanese version (there are spoilers in the video, but it starts with the right part with Tsubasa).
  16. I see what you mean, I think I can see what they were trying to do with that, but not being a native english speaker, I'm not sure how "authentic" it feels. Personally, it didn't resonate with me, however the presentation of the game mechanics and the setting was still pretty good in my opinion.
  17. They've just posted the second trailer a few hours ago on the Nintendo of America youtube channel, I'll try to keep this updated, but I don't think we'll see many newer ones since the game releases next month, but there will be at the very least one more. I was actually intrigued about how they would try to sell/advertise the game, I guess the second trailer gives some kind of direction. [spoiler=First trailer : First beats] A nice introduction trailer, emphasis on the "FE" of the title being Fire Emblem, the subtitles are a little too big in my opinion, but it's just for the trailer and not in-game iirc, so it's fine. [spoiler=Second trailer : Hyped for combat] Not really fond of the voice over, that aside, I think the editing (the transitions, animations, tooltips...) is pretty good looking and fits the game. The content is also an introduction to the game in general (context, combat system...). Almost thought they spoiled one boss, but after some more checking, it's actually not the same character. [spoiler=Third trailer : Mastering Dungeons] For some reason, the video isn't displayed here, but you can watch it here (link to my post about the video) ( )The voiceover acting seems to have been toned down, which I appreciate. That aside, the trailer is just reviewing the basics of gameplay inside dungeons, there are some mild spoilers. Not much else to say. [spoiler=Official Game Trailer E3 2016] / [url=]Post on SF Not displayed again, it's visible here The huge yellow subs are back, the trailer itself is nice and uses one of the battle theme which is a nice change from the previous trailer. I like that it's a little closer to the japanese trailers we had, with the characters doing the explaination instead of a narrator. [spoiler=Treehouse Live E3 2016 Demonstration] / Post on SFBe wary of spoilers, they skipped most of the text but I'm warning just in case. [spoiler=Story Trailer (Nintendo of Europe/UK)] For some reason, the video isn't displayed here, but you can watch it here (link to my post about the video) ( )Modestly titled "Story trailer", I would liken it to the "First beats" trailer from Nintendo of America, but with a greater focus on Prologue and chapter 1, the subtitles are also much better than the huge yellow ones that they did for First beats. [spoiler=Nintendo UK - Launch Trailer] A really good trailer, an overview of the different aspects of the game. There are some spoilers inside, nothing as severe as what was in the american trailers though. Character trailers from Nintendo of Europe/UK, with the matching japanese character trailers. [spoiler=Meet Itsuki] Videos not displayed again, / [spoiler=Meet Tsubasa] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kN3W-dKUs8I Videos not displayed again, / [spoiler=Meet Touma Akagi] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1v04TnZaP4w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYyavBIePXc Videos not displayed again, / [spoiler=Accolades Trailer] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgsBExbP9jE They once again have put a major spoiler inside. I'm not really a fan of accolades trailers or things like that. Self congratulation never reflects well on the person doing it in my opinion (I like modesty and humility), even if the congratulations here don't come from them. But it shows that the game has really, really reviewed well.
  18. I see his name mentioned pretty often, I think he is also overseeing Fire Emblem from the Nintendo side, it's nice to see that he values the game and the fans (it also adds more RPGs to Nintendo library, so even if they don't follow up #FE, I would like them to keep making projects with developers like Atlus). I've seen multiple japanese blogs (I don't know how relevant they are though, since I'm not very familiar with the japanese side of internet) make the connexion between what he said and the first rumor of avex doing auditions for a new RPG, nothing confirmed still, but it's a little more credible now. I really didn't expect the concert event to have that much effect on the japanese side, if the game is well received over here as well, it may convince them to keep trying to grow the IP (it can already be considered as a FE spin-off of sort).
  19. A few new elements, it's nothing as tangible as the previous rumor (which still may be unrelated) but I thought it was worth mentioning. Hitoshi Yamagami, producer from Nintendo made a new blog post on the official site, mostly about the concert event which he attented along with Kitanishi-san from Intelligent Systems. Near the end of the post, he writes : "皆様を見ていて、幻影異聞録を終わらせちゃいけないなと思いました。", I won't try to do a direct translation, but if I'm not mistaken, it means that he doesn't want the #FE "IP" to end here (if anyone would like to correct me/confirm or anything, I would appreciate). It doesn't mean that a sequel is necessarily going to happen, but atleast he seems open to the idea. There are also some reports that some voice actors and people involved also would like a sequel to happen (here Moroboshi Sumire, Tiki's voice actor), I think they hinted something during the concert, but not sure about that at all. So, nothing concrete so far, but atleast it doesn't seem "out of question" like some people may think (I can't really blame them for thinking that though). Not so sure about that, I wouldn't be against the idea, but there's less incentive to do that compared to the first Bayonetta, since the game wasn't even on Nintendo console.
  20. Ah, didn't know about that, thanks. I can see how Makoto could be Queen and Anne Panther, I'm curious for Haru though, "Noire" doesn't seem to fit her image. Morgana being Monarch seems to reinforce the idea of Zorro being of the Emperor Arcana. Pretty hyped for the game (even though I don't own the consoles that run the game), hopefully we'll get the western release dates announced at E3.
  21. Multiple websites already did translations like these two. Curious to see how Makoto is going to use Johanna in battle since its a vehicle, also into what it'll possibly evolve. Also, we have so far : Protagonist / Arsene : Fool Ryuji / Captain Kidd : Magician ? Anne / Carmen : Lovers ? Yusuke / Goemon : Hanged Man ? (I thought something like Hermit at first, but since Necronomicon took that slot...) Morgana / Zorro : Emperor ? Makoto / Yohanna : Empress/Priestess ? Sakura / Necronomicon : Hermit Haru / Milady : Priestess/Empress ? The only ones pretty much confirmed are Arsene and Necronomicon. There's also with different nicknames for the party :ジョーカー Joker, the protagonist スカル Skull, Ryuji クイーン Queen, Anne パンサー Panther ?, Morgana イナリ Inari (related to foxes iirc), Yusuke ノワール Noire, Makoto I'm pretty sure a lot of people on the internet already have speculated over all of this, but I didn't follow any of it so this is just my take on these tidbits
  22. Sorry for the bump, I didn't really know where to put that, and I don't think it warrants a new thread of its own since we've discussed sales here, but the game got quite a boost after the concert that happened 2 days ago (concert which was apparently a big success). The game achieved to take rank 2 on the Wii U Nintendo eShop, rank that was previously owned by Splatoon, and behind Minecraft at 1st place. Also 2nd on amazon.co.jp on best selling Wii U games, behind Splatoon. I didn't know what to expect from the concert, since the game didn't perform well, but it apparently did a lot of positive word of mouth on top of being a success, with the merchandise selling extremely quickly and the afternoon session being sold out (the evening session also did well, but I didn't see much report on that). I'm a little surprised since the situation is kind of "reversed", the game performing well should have brought people to the event instead of the event doing well (when the game didn't) getting more people to buy the game, since people that attended the event must already own the game (they were also selling the game at the event, and apparently one of the voice actor made the remark, saying "it's to gift your friends" or something of the sort, I'm not absolutely positive on that, but well, it's just some random statement). There were other interesting things that transpired from the concert, but I think this is probably the most unexpected.
  23. The video seems more empty without it, I liked it better with it too. I can understand why they would get rid of it since most people can't read it though, and is it just me or do the subtitled lyrics almost match the rhythm ? It's harder for me to tell since I'm not a native english speaker, but it almost seems like it does.
  24. I think the new outfit is fine, I'm more worried about what does that mean for the story, since it's a part of the main story. The other changes seem unnecessary, but I don't mind them too much. I'm not sure there is a way to make the game have a broader appeal without denaturing the game itself, I'm not sure just because they did these changes the game will appear more appealing (or family-friendly, the game doesn't seem especially restrictive on that to begin with). And apparently, having an english dub does have some effect on sales, so that should have been the first thing they should have done if that was the intention. I'm not blaming them for not doing it (although dual audio would have been nice), but all of this just makes me puzzled.
  25. Just read through this edition, I'm not sure, but I think that they said they'll introduce soon a new character (or multiple ?) to join Ema, Shade and Yuzu to host these columns. 「そういえば川出Pが、もうすぐこの「サイファ最前線付近!」に新しい仲間が増えるかも…って、言ってましたー!」
