When they're both draftable, Vanessa saves a ton earlygame, but leaves the player without a decent bosskiller for the rest of the game, while whoever has Franz should not be too far behind Vanessa early on, and becomes a bosskiller himself. Like Integ might have Vanessa, Tana, and Syrene, but if his Eirika gets strength screwed, who is going to kill Callaech? But without Franz in the draft, there is nobody to equal Integ's early game, and he's gone kick our asses unless he suddenly can't remember how to play FE8.

I would wait on promoting him until dragon's gate, because 18 is a defend chapeter, and him being a General in 19 and 19x won't speed up the Marcus charges. Unless you want him to use Silver Axes sooner.

I think the only times I've had to restart are once in chapter 13x, once in chapter 22 because I failed a trade, and once in Living Legend because Pent died. But I've beaten this game a ton on HHM, so it's no biggie for me.

Fionorde, there's no way Lyn is surviving 4 enemies, 2 of which she 3HKO's without a crit, and 2 of which have javelins. And all of them 2HKO Lyn. She's not living without any of the others getting involved in HM.

Purge and recover. And you should be able to match some turncounts with just Marcus but some like 17, 20, 22, 27, 29 and Final might be hard to duplicate. Since you have Jerme's map, and I have the best attacking unit for Cog of Destiny, (Harken) and two brave weapons. You do have three fliers, but you won't save turns on 25 (because Fiora) and uh, you might save one in VoD because Vaida is invincible with pure water and Fili shield.

Saleh? I only picked him because every time I try to use Kyle or Forde they get speed and strength screwed. And he joins kinda early in the easier route, I think.

The drafts themselves are pretty random, they have Garcia going anywhere from 3rd pick to 5th round.

They're than bad? It's true that I'm more used to just plowing through with Seth and Franz anyhow.

Also, if you draft Franz first, you have a good high movement combat unit. If you take Vanessa first, you lose out on a good combat unit for the first 8 chapters, as Garcia should be gone, and probably Joshua as well, given how clutch they can be in the early chapters where you get thrown units like Neimi, Colm, Ross, and to a lesser extent Lute who will be useless for a while.

I think rescuing Ross should be free, because if you have him drafted, it'll be a pain to keep resetting.

That map is really sparsely populated for the first couple turns in NM.

They aren't in hard mode, but they all raid the island and attack from above, with the exception of a bandit. Unless there are fewer enemies in normal mode than hard mode.

I would make Knoll free before Syrene, because Syrene can have a chance at killing something with Killers, has flying utility (which helps in chapter 18 (well, high movement does) Chapter 20, and endgame. And all Knoll has is Phantoms. And avaliablilty I guess.
