Want to bring to the forum's attention of a game called Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga.
It's by an indie Western company called Dancing Dragon Games. Published by Freedom Games, the same publisher of Dark Deity.
The gameplay is reminiscent of Soul Nomad. Grid based, turn-based strategy but rather than 1 v 1, it's squad v squad combat. A squad can be led by a generic or a named character.
Class changes, promotions are all present. There's a wide variety of units, ranging from swordsmen, samurai, knights, gunners, archers, mages, healers, etc. Oh, and dragons!
I won't be starting a LP of this, as I'm still not done with Banner of the Maid. That one is delayed, as....well...first there was work and then there's medical issues with the family that require my attention unfortunately.
Either way, I'm intrigued by the game and wanted to let you guys know!

'Ere we go for a slugger of a battle.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Each battle group will need to overcome the initial adversary before they can link up with each other to storm the boss.
May also like
JeraltSomeone's hinting at a weather change
On the left we need a group of people who can smash line infantry but can contend with the lights in the rear. Therese buffs nearby cavalry so her escorts should be able to tank everything that comes their way. She's grown into quite a capable sniper herself.
In the center we need units that can destroy light cavalry. Artillery and line infantry and heavy cavalry are useful for that.
Nicolette can farm some exp this way
Sappers have such low speed and accuracy
On the right it's mainly light infantry so light cavalry and light infantry should be able to steamroll them
Light cavalry tank
You can double me and it'd still do negligible-ish damage
Time to advance down the flanks. Gotta slaughter the enemy captains and try and accomplish the challenge objective.
Big oof
Refresh, repeat, kill
The French Army has already
obliteratedpart of our vanguards!Wait, what new French friends?
Advancing into the entrenched artillery will be suicide currently. But maybe I should wait for the weather to change...?
Oscar might be able to tank it all
Cannot be touched
Adelaide is OP and I'm okay with that
Storming the hill is definitely going to be suicide. Oscar will be whittled down by the cannons, and enemy light infantry WILL make short work of her
I do it anyways. French elan!
Finishing up the left flank
Laure will hold the right flank. Adelaide can take a more forward position because she can actually dodge cannons.
Murat doing fine work
Assault underway. I hope nobody dies next turn.
Oh fuck
Thanks for missing that 100% chance
I may be able to finish off 2 of these fuckers. Unfortunately it seems Anne has retreated. Can't finish the challenge objective...
I have to retreat and heal up
Mopping up flanks still
Regroup and we shall storm the center again. They can't kill us all.....I mean there's AOE attacks but...
Weaksauce. Die already!
Storm them!
RNG blesses Murat
Mop up
Some items are obtained
Shame we couldn't reach Anne Wellesley
Oh snap, who is this knight you speak of? Is it Desaix?!?
Promotions for the chasseurs

Damn, my posting and playing speed is really slow.
Where did the time go?
Feels like all I do is work and the pandemic isn't helping.
So to recap, Hubert is grabbing power and the Italian front has a lot of heavy fighting.
No battle update this time however.
I guess Robespierre is a man of his times, regardless of how "enlightened" he may be.
Not sure what Robespierre meant by that, who is Pauline resembling?
You PC bro?
I feel like this is going to be one of those choose some answers, gain or lose relationship points situations
Am I just Robespierre's pawn to combat Hubert the dipshit?
I'm gonna try and pick answers that I feel would be most reflective of Pauline's personality. She's an adaptable tactician right? Socially awkward, but adaptable
The introvert in me is sweating
Alright Pauline time to go full turbo awkward
Knowing I just went full turbo awkward, time to go the opposite direction and become mainstream media
How to appeal to populism?
I wonder if faction support alters the ending rather than just unlock different items
Noice. I think Charlotte the fallen noble deserves the crown
Mirabeau either has lung cancer or tuberculosis
Some level ups from grinding before I embark on the next chapter
Looks like Wellesley is back with some mini bosses. Kill 'em all.
Map is separated into 3 parts with different enemy troop compositions. Will have to adjust accordingly.
-
Gatekeeper literally has a gambit as his weapon lmao GOAT
-
And time for our monthly update!
To recap, in the previous update we started fighting against French Royalist rebels. The machinations of Hubert are starting to be made apparent.
Oh snap,
waifuRose is an enemy! Nooooooooooooo how will we face up to her cannonballs.Interestingly there is no challenge objective. Just defeat enemies and don't lose more than 2 units.
From the way the dialogue goes, maybe there's a way to convince Rose to join us?
Ayy it's Philippe. Time to deploy Ernestine.
Double artillery attack time
Therese is coming into her own
Dodge master
Making a push with arty cover fire
Lot of high HP enemies on the flank
Sadly Oscar didn't make it... but she took quite a few enemies with her
Finish them off!
2 groups of enemy reinforcements arrive, all cavalry
[Together We Ride intensifies]
Cheeky. I did hear that foreigners' stereotypes of Germany are actually more applicable towards Bavarians.
Do you not realize they wear similar clothes?
Don't even let them get close. Use the power of cannonballs.
Dutheil is the ultimate tank.
So hard to 1-round enemy heavy cav nowadays
Level ups abound
Now that we've handled the enemy reinforcements, we can finally march on Rose. Gonna skirt her attack range.
>only 6 damage
You lack balls, sir
Okay that hurt a bit more
>relationship has grown closer
Well damn, do I have to talk to her with multiple people?
>no option for Dutheil to talk
Sorry Rose, guess I'll have to kill you
Stun so she can't counter, then finish off
Meanwhile Ferdinand can't be spoken to, and he's a bit of a pushover
Mop up
Rose didn't die!
I wonder how many chapters this game has
>Egyptian campaign
Oh man, will we get to go? I want to recruit some Mamluks
Damn, I stay in Italy
Fuck Hubert
Who dis
She's definitely an Est. She's still unpromoted, low-leveled, and has traits that give her an edge against tougher enemies.
It seems she's the female version of Nicolas Charles Oudinot, 1st Count Oudinot, 1st Duke of Reggio,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolas_Oudinot
She will promote into the line infantry classes
The NPCs have things to say too about the royal family
-
Previously on Banner of the Maid, shit has hit the fan in Paris!
We now are treated with a gory spectacle.
What has Hubert done now?
No Assassin's Creed will save you now
Careful, Josephine. Such words can get your head removed
I do wonder, will we end up with new enemy types like Royalists or Revolutionaries or something
Can Robespierre be trusted?
RIP.
Let the blood flow.
Surprised you're still alive, sir.
Getting some people new skills.
Pauline never says anything stupid. Only inspirational things.
Sidequest time.
Mon dieu, it's boss rush time isn't it?
Speak for yourself sir, you self-styled wisecracker
Lots of snow, but thankfully the enemies seem grouped by unit type.
Big John's men are no match for Laure.
Baldur is an annoying shit. Starts off full morale. Good thing Lafite is tanky.
ONE FUCKING HP
Moved the heavy infantry in front of Lafite.
Oh shit
Eh...56%. At least she didn't get doubled.
Sir, you have fallen into the trap square of artillery
35%? Worth a shot
>High ground
It's over! We have the high ground now!
Remove simp
He can't fight women
Tactic for this map: Camp next to the fires
The rock-papers-scissors system of this game really makes it hard for job classes to defeat their weaknesses.
Therese gets to shine.
Boss rush removed.
And we only get 500 gold. So little.
Time for sidequest #2
It would appear Pauline is NOT wearing her uniform as advised.
It seems everyone believes in the Maid powers now
We're just going to be tools huh
What ARE your ideals?
Lmao imagine if he saw the political echo chambers today
A night battle!
Sounds like artillery may be useful
The enemies are all scattered.
Seems like they can be picked off
I can only wonder why the sounds of guns going off don't alert enemies
Interestingly enough, the attacked units don't sound the alarm despite surviving. So no, you don't need to one round kill them
>17 ATK
>not strong enough
Your little trench won't protect you
Annnnd they've been alerted. Seems like it's the guard posts that sound the alarms. But at this point our units can mop up
Ruh roh
I pull Lannes back so the cavalry will push too far ahead and die to counters before the rifles can catch up
How do you miss a horse?
Princess is putting them down.
Diiiiiee
Uh oh
Die ye royalists
Power to the people
Noblemen, swerve
Serfs will rule
Stat bonuses in sidequests only? Interesting.
Unlocked the next tier of unaffordable items
-
Real life really likes to cut into my gaming time.
Adulting is overrated. Why can't I be a kid again?
Previously Zhiyun and Pauline are talking about the lost treasure stolen by perfidious albion.
Rose is somewhere and Desaix died a heroic death.
We now visit Laure's home village which has unfortunately become one of many battlefields during the Napoleonic wars.
Zhiyun is one OP pirate when there's rain on the battlefield.
Let's sell some loot and buff some characters
Sir are you part of the revolutionists too?
Dutheil is insufferable
Promotions
>no bonus challenge
Oh man, is this mission so hard that a challenge would make it impossible?
While browsing for new items, the characters had interesting things to say
Seeing as Hubert essentially figured out the Queen's maid ability, he's probably plotting something
The enemy has set up positions in favorable terrain with high dodge. Line infantry will essentially be useless here.
In front of each cabin/house there are spots you can visit
Poor Laure. Science is witchcraft even in that age.
It seems most of the enemies are afflicted with cold. Might be useful.
This is the boss. Good thing all the OP units are women.
Oh shit, what's going on in Paris???
Not a great time to be a noble. That nefarious Hubert must've started something
Therese is pretty underleveled at this point. She'll need a lot of babysitting. Hopefully she's like an Est.
Charlotte can probably deal with these guys singlehandedly.
Oh crap
The enemies refused to leave the grass. I'll have to take the initiative.
It's no longer snowy either, so there's no debuff to take advantage of.
I should probably leave out leveling Therese until the side quests
Oscar really carrying the day here as a tank. I miss having Desaix too
Line infantry are really dying to the light infantry in the grass
Cavalry to save the day
Adelaide has not been dodging well at all this mission
I mean a hit chance of 13%!?
As you visit the houses Laure will give some backstory
We are making progress....slowly.
Despite the paranoia and prejudice towards her, Laure really cares for the villagers
Therese's growths seem acceptable so far
Sir you're not supposed to hurt women so much!!!
DIE ALREADY. He also has no lines when defeated.
We're heading back to Paris now. It seems like we're leading into the Reign of Terror now

The game's plot in a nutshell:
Maybe.
Speaking of, hi FAMAS:
And Scout:
And C-93:
And Enfield:
And Tanya:
And Yuffie:
And Istina:
Incidentally, if Eugenie had long hair she'd definitely be my favorite character by a long margin: hope Laure will become playable at least...
(But really, with the amount of gratuitous fanservice this game has i'm amazed it's not actually a SFW version of some hentai game...)
(Also, sometimes you really ought to post the pictures BEFORE their descriptions in your LP)
Hoping to see more of this again in the future, even though i most likely won't be posting comments here anymore.
Well....I suppose i'll have to reformat my posts now that multiple people ask for it.
Am I the only one who finds it awkward to read and interpret? It all feels so backwards to me. But anyways I'll do it for popular demand.
The resemblances are....uncanny....that's a very detailed post.
It's winter and we have to get home. Laure's backstory is dwelled into; seems like even in the 19th century people confuse science with witchcraft. Doesn't appear like she's a mad alchemist; as mentioned before she does try to find new cures for disease. Oh and she's also a sniper.
Her stats are really good, even better than Cosette's and definitely superior to Therese's. And she can buff any gun-wielding unit's range!
But before we go into Laure's chapter, let's take a side tour...
As you recall, Zhiyun is a Chinese pirate and has been searching for a treasure that a British merchant took from her
But before we can get into Zhiyun's story, we must first take a detour of a detour to Leonore's story....
The nice thing about the sidequest mission design is that you can't really power level your way through them. You command set armies with generics with certain abilities and you need to figure out the way to crack the formula to win. Here you have equal parts heavy cavalry with the same abilities on both sides. Your units will recover HP in the presence of a defeated enemy unit. Certain leader generics will cause multi-tile damage if the enemies are in a straight line. Leonore is present who can 1-2-round KO certain enemies but she won't last long either if 2-3 enemies gang up on her.
That's a lot of units. It quickly devolves into a shitshow. You bunch your units to stop them from getting flanked but the enemy leaders have the Eviction capability. Basically you need to try and cycle out the injured to the campfires and also don't let your units line up.
Note how I've got the enemy lined up so I can send my captains to Evict them
Healing by the fire
Sending some units to commit suicide as a distraction
Just gotta wipe the the enemy's right flank. Granted they are gonna wipe my right flank too
Ah shit, enemy reinforcements don't stop coming.
MUST HEAL BY KILLING
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
Due to the drawn out nature of the battle I ended up disabling animations. I didn't meet the challenge objectives either...too many units have died
-
That was quite an update huh? RIP.
Moving on to the next chapter, our army has regrouped and are prepared for a defensive battle.
News travels fast. The queen is confronted by Hubert who seems to have figured out her powers and makes it clear that he's about to think of a way to send the royals to the chopping block.
WITCHCRAFT, HERESY, AND MUTATIONS
We've got no time to mourn. The British are upon us.
So what exactly is the Maid power to a normal person?
Is it magic? Is it just charisma or intuition?
Fuck that Hubert fellow.
Hooray, it's decision time again. Looks like if you decide not to arrest people, information will certainly go out to enemies, making them more aggressive or something. But your own soldiers will not be compromised in their fighting abilities.
I thought Nivernais was dead/caught/imprisoned or something but I lost track of that part of the story. Charlotte resists the temptation to give in to blind rage and revenge.
I don't see enemy spies, just loads of enemies
I feel like something is lost in translation with this line.
The Brits have the terrain disadvantage. I've got good terrain on my side, healers, and artillery ready to rain death on my enemies.
And I've got plenty of cavalry to make mincemeat of those light infantry who want to hit us from the back
The mission from 2 chapters ago was hell; now it's payback
Cosette can snipe folks
The redcoats march against my sandbagged infantry and die horribly
It's a massacre
Charlotte can 2HKO Bridget. This one's for Desaix.
I haven't received any notification that I killed a spy and delayed an attack
Fog sets in, and the artillery can't bombard anymore. Time to relocate
I thought I'd be able to interact with that tent but there's nothing.
Leonore shows up as the 2nd mini boss.
You'd think parking units on footprints on the edge of the battlefield will stop them from reinforcing. Jokes on you, they just teleport past your units instead.
Totally not worried right now. It's rainy and Mu Zhiyun's got her healing bonus
Lucky dodge
The British break. Your named characters are exposed and I'm about to run you down!
More pointless reinforcements
What this
BLAMMED
All that's left is Anne Wellington.
lmao 0 damage
DIE. DIE. DIE
THIS IS FOR GENERAL DESAIX YOU FISH N CHIPS EATER
"lmao good job but see you next time"
Roaring Rampage of Revenge? My thirst for blood is not slaked.
-
Sorry for the slow posts guys!
We get some level grinding in for our units
Maybe sappers can be useful for some things
The job description says howitzers have more range than cannons, but in-game they're the same.
To recap, we rescued General Rose from utter destruction and then our forces were scattered in the retreat. Pauline and Desaix are together, and Desaix has been wounded, possibly mortally.
Pauline, you're not just a Maid. You're actually a good soldier and leader
There's not much to say about the mission other than GTFO as fast as you can. It rains in the beginning so I would recommend using Desaix to soak up enemy attacks as Pauline will use up her musket ammunition very quickly
Oh man he's dying isn't he? He's actually a damn good unit
Despite the reduced attack he still manages to clear a path
Oh man
Oh noooo
Fade to black
Whoa, actual blood
Rip General Desaix
How will I progress with just one heavy cavalry unit
Who will be the replacement goldfish?
Oh man that slaps
Will Antoinette be the replacement Desaix? Her maid power is that she learns other people's skills right?

I don't gonna lie, this game actually picked my attention(idk why steam never show me this before). Hope you can finish this LP
BTW, happy new year.
Thanks, happy belated new year to you too.
Been busy with work but got an update.
I replayed this level on and off over the last few weeks due to the fact that I'm shit at tactical games and this was actually really difficult for me.
To recap, we rescued Dutheil previously. Now we have to rescue General Rose, our big chested artillery maid who seems more proper than our other big chested artillery drunkard. Common theme it seems.
But first we do a side quest.
Medals for everyone
Dutheil is a great utility unit but his stats are shit and he's horrifically underleveled compared to most of the team. He won't survive enemy light infantry attacks
Adelaide is OP and she's gonna get a rifle that will turn her into Cosette on steroids.
Promotions
Dutheil and Ernestine get some level ups from grinding
What a tsundere
A small sidequest with some significant decisions
Pauline has to go to an auction.
Jeez these sound like codenames for certain characters
That was not fruitful
Disloyal members of the army should be punished.....
All this got me was a relationship boost with the Jacobins, who as you remember sell firearms and upgrade their selection the more points you have with them.
Lol so much for brotherly love, asshole
Poor Pauline. She should just stick to the battlefield.
>only 500
Fuuuuu
She seems rather forgiving.
Okay, let's get to the main mission.
I swear. Fuck this chapter.
Your forces are scattered all over the place.
You're surrounded by a lethal combo of promoted snipers (2 range ugh) and heavy cavalry
The new units that the game gives you are essentially useless, as the high mobility of the enemies mean that they can easily be one-rounded and surrounded
Leonore is back
Why don't my units get protection like that? Not like they get doubled often
Lafite has a useless ability.
How often are you going to get your artillery unit melee'd?
And even with the bonuses, his stats are so low that he'll get OHKO'd by anything that can get close.
Something something Hubert's a dipshit but he has to be protected for some reason, probably as a result of telling the future
Please, save those cannonballs!
The most effective strategy (after retrying this like 5 times) is to just do your best to move everyone to the center.
Both types of enemy units can heavily damage most of your units except for Desaix and Oscar. Adelaide can get 2-shot and her dodge against the enemy cuirassiers is RNG dependent. The enemy heavy infantry can be easily killed off.
The light infantry are arguably more dangerous than the cuirassiers, but cuirassiers require 2-3 units to take down.
Fuck that range
Letting the heavy cavalry run around taking out as many snipers as they can
Not even Cosette can kill off cuirassiers in one round
One thing that was lightly hinted at earlier: Rose will point out enemy bombardments. Thing is, she can be killed by those bombardments and she doesn't move from her terrain as she earlier said she'll be bait. She needs a healer nearby or else you get insta-loss if she dies
>1 damage
Duthiel pls
Your stats are shit and I can't protect you as much as I'd like
French forces taking heavy casualties
You guys see those footprints on the map? There's 3 sets of them.
The reinforcements also act on the turn of their arrival.
Gun to gun, sword to sword, but for the time being we're scraping by.
The healers have little space to move around, and they can easily get 2-shot or even 1-shot
Let's go heal by the fire
Bad timing, 4 enemy light cavalry units show up
Ah jeez
Right flank has collapsed
Adelaide's RNG is giving me heart attacks
Ugh poor Eugenie
Pauline can't even counter
>It starts raining
Duthiel can't even heal up
RIP, despite being heavy infantry the light cavalry double him and inflict 10 damage per round. He doesn't have the HP to survive it
Honestly I'd rather he die than anyone else. I don't know if the mission will last so long that resupplying is needed
There's just too many of them
Someone's gonna die
Oof, 15 per bombardment in the red ring of death
They decided to go after Adelaide instead of Duthiel. Maybe he'll live?
Get some exp damn it
Treasure #1 get
Oof
Lafite couldn't move fast enough in the rain. RIP
The rain actually gets worse
>Dutheil, do your best to resupply
>Gets chopped to pieces by light cavalry reinforcements
Man I'm a horrible tactician
It only took me 6 turns and 2 casualties to get everyone together!
Look! 8 enemy reinforcements from the right side of the map. Thankfully they're only Tier 1 classes.
Treasure #2 get
Now Eugenie or Aimee can debuff the shit out of enemies
I had to look up "Feigling"
It means "coward"
Adelaide singlehandedly slaughters them all with counters.
By Turn 8, the enemy boss will move to attack you
Light cavalry? Useless against my heavy cavalry and an Aegis-buffed Pauline
Heavy cavalry fucking OP in this game
Oscar proceeds to fuck Leonore up
Murat gets the honors
I guess if you don't get completely slaughtered, you will easily be able to kill off the boss wave and finish the challenge.
>my best subordinates
If they're your best, that explains why everyone has gets slaughtered so fucking easily
CUTSCENE TIME
Come on Desaix, you've taken worse
Granted if you look at the combat animations, the officers actually never get hit. It's the troops who do the actual killing and dying
We have money and promotions.
Well I'm gonna do some level grinding to promote a few other folks
The game actually encourages grinding because you'll need to use all the classes for unlockables later on
-
Hey everyone! Sorry for a very delayed update. Been caught up in the whole COVID business at work (I'm in healthcare)
Hope everyone's been safe.
Recap from last time, the British forces pull off what seems to be a feigned retreat.
Will Pauline and Desaix fall for it? We shall see!
Pauline and Desaix talk about ideals again.
For un vaterland
It's okay if the revolutionaries killed most of your family in the process, traumatizing your poor sister
*Cue crisis music*
Time to save onii-chan Nappy
Time to sell treasures and loot and promote the worthy
Finally, we can use the Fine tier of weapons
But of course it's sidequest time. I'm sure Rose and Napoleon can wait a bit.
Looting battlefields is always a lucrative business. Just ask many museums across the world.
Random, commas, punctuation, everywhere!
There's a time limit. Grab what you can, kill whom you can, and get the hell out.
The best way to beat this is to just divide up your forces. You're not gonna be able to cover much ground if you escort Paulette around all the time. Cosette can take care of herself. Ernestine is still a bit underleveled but with proper terrain usage and healing items she can hold her own.
There's some terrain that enemies won't cross but Paulette's range can get them.
She will be a worthy counterpart to Adelaide.
By turn 9 (i could've been faster) you should start planning to get to the destination edge of the map. Paulette and Aimee are incredibly slow so start having them retreat
Well actually I delayed until Turn 11... not my best thought process
That was a decent haul.
I'm sure the citizenry appreciate the influx of loo-err.....goods
Somehow a cup makes you bulletproof but more prone to getting slashed up.
Rank up = fancier hats
Next mission involves a soft time limit in that we have to rescue Duthiel (one of Rose's subordinates) before he gets killed. RNG is likely to play a role here.
That's a lot of cavalry to break through
Geron Duthiel, the pessimistic, well-dressed guy.
He introduces a new job class, that of the Sapper.
He's definitely on the defensive side, and he needs it given that he'll likely get doubled by most enemies. He can fight back to some extent but he's definitely not a front liner.
Job Skill - Resupply: Restores 1 ammo to adjacent characters at the start of the turn. This ability will be incredibly useful. It means I can spam the more powerful weapons.
Character Ability - Hated Guy: Grants all male characters +1 Move at the turn start
Other skills - Routing: Ignore 20% of enemy DEF when in combat. Artillery Def: Half damage received from enemy artillery
Oh shit we're up against big bad Wellesley
Her main skill that I fear is Bulwark. If the damage done to her is less than 9, automatically reduce it to 0.
So we gotta pound her hard or don't bother at all.
Main character skill - Leader: Being a maid, whenever she finishes an action all units within 2 grids receive Heroic status, and all enemies within 2 grids have Heroic status removed. So I should just inflict Heroic damage on her on my turn before she debuffs it away
Aside from Duthiel there's a few allied artillery units that are being slaughtered. They also serve as a soft time limit for the mission.
Hubert's a dipshit from the very beginning. Isn't it obvious?
If you look closely at the map, some areas are less muddy compared to others. One should cross those areas.
Adelaide got pretty unlucky.
One NPC dead....few more to go....
Fear the might of the baguette army.
"Is there any job where I can get paid without working?"
Try a comfy government job. It's nearly impossible to get laid off and you get a good pension afterwards.
There's still so many enemies remaining!
Come on you footsloggers, keep at it
We're breaking through!
With Eugenie serving as the "Dancer" Murat and Charlotte can cross over
Duthiel's men are outranged in this map, but sometimes the AI will do something stupid and walk within bombardment range.
Piss off you Austrian dragoons
Oscar's lack of accuracy has always bothered me
But she can double artillery so that's ok
Murat takes a Heroic hit to the face but survives
Uh oh they're starting to bombard Duthiel. Gotta hurry up
I'm going to reverse the rock paper scissors through sheer stats
Wellesley shows off her Bulwark ability. Swords won't do shit to her; her Armor is too high
Oscar is near death but I send her to kill off the remaining cannon
Face off of the century. Pauline vs Anne.
Adelaide OP
Lol I expected something more dramatic, but ok
Rose is trapped elsewhere, the next mission will be to rescue her
'
He really likes calling that guy a maggot
-
Back to the frontlines, Pauline!
Our job is to scout out this area and face off against Coalition forces.
British Riflemen pop up. I really like the design of these generics.
Gee, you look a bit familiar. I'm betting she's Philipp's sister.
Ernestine, like most Tirailleur classes, has high dodge and speed, low melee defense. She's item-reliant though, which will make using her costly. I might just stick with Adelaide + Cosette.
The mission starts off with rain, and the boss has 2 skills of note.
She gains massive dodge when it's sunny, so this is probably an implicitly timed mission. She will also flee if her HP goes below 40%.
Ernestine apparently talks like Leanne from Fire Emblem. Okay, she's gaining some approval from me.
Oh hey Laure, you gonna join my army too?
What are the odds that Laure is also a maid? Alas, she does not show up in my army.
>Polita
Okay that's cute
Achtung! Oh man. This is good.
Difficult to deal with? I've got advanced classes now and ultra mustaches. No problem, Desaix.
Sometimes I wonder if these enemy bosses will end up in our army at one point. Highly unlikely.
Light infantry, regardless of their nation of origin, will fall like bowling clubs to well placed artillery and cavalry charges.
Meanwhile on the left flank Zhiyun is powering her way through enemy redcoats thanks to the healing factor in poor weather.
>1 damage
hahahaha ultimate tankGonna have to deal with enemy healers
Okay Oscar is still kinda weak against bullets. So much for that armor.
Charlotte gets sent ahead to bait enemy riflemen.
Meanwhile we clear out that little land bridge
Ernestine putting in good work.
>82% chance to get hit
Adelaide dodges it anyways. In rain or sunshine
I'm digging these new hats.
Charlotte's high bullet defense renders Prussian snipers useless
>Knock on door expecting NPC conversation
>It summons enemy reinforcements
Fuck you, Banner of the Maid.
Oscar's in a bit of trouble. Time to send her in the bushes and hope she survives the next turn.
Pauline is sent to plug up that little alley
Desaix can't reach enemy riflemen, so I send him to the bushes also
Murat is able to block off, thankfully.
One thing I didn't expect is that when the terrain is so poor that it decreases MOV all the way down, it can actually make it go down to zero. So Paulette is unfortunately stuck there for the rest of the mission.
Aimee can't move forward without potentially getting sniped.
Ah well, we'll just have to rely on Eugenie.
Nobody dies the next turn, thankfully.
More enemy reinforcements? Yeah that's fine.
OOF.
Eat Croissant, gain HP
Heavy cavalry can beat light infantry if they get first strike.
The weather changes to heavy fog. Good, I was afraid I was going to run out of ammunition.
Now the Prussian riflemen can't snipe and can be easily counterattacked.
Cosette can't snipe either, but she has reasonable dodge and defense.
Dodge rates go through the roof now that rain is over.
But we really have to push ahead to the boss because who knows how long the fog will last.
>Double miss
British Maids? Pah, it's all about French maids
Come one come all, I'll make haggis out of you
She's not that strong, it seems.
Finally, some houses that don't spawn enemy reinforcements.
Get a load of this.
PLUNDEREDAlright Ernestine I'll let you do the finishing moves. You need more EXP
Uh oh
Niiiice
Looks like all this was just a delaying action. Surely it felt like a full battle though.

Got a quick update
Previously we caught Nivernais but were forced to hand her over to the Jacobins for interrogation.
We're also falling behind our enemies in terms of stats and combat efficiency, so.....some grinding was done.
I'm not going to post every level up screen but it seems the cap is at level 15, after which a unit can be promoted.
They also learn their final class skill at level 15. Some units who don't have promotions continue to level up.
Defense Line seems like a useful skill for Lannes to have. Will be useful to essentially keep cavalry away from other more important units.
Some level ups!
Line Infantry, the ultimate bait
I rarely use the wine item for Paulette, so I'm replacing that skill with Artillery Suppression
The female heavy cavalry tend to have better combat stats but the men have better accuracy and leadership stats
After so long, Zhiyun gets a better weapon for once out of coincidence
There are branching promotions in this game. One tends to confer more offense/gimmicks, the other one defense. The alternative promotions are locked behind side battles like this one.
There really wasn't much to this battle other than just having to keep everyone together on the bridge to limit exposure to enemies and utilize adjacent bonuses.
RIP fifer
With Lannes' skill of HP recovery with each successful attack landed when his health is low, I think he'll be the ultimate tank. Grenadier for him.
Can you hear the Fire Emblem music
Pauline gets the Grenadier Old Guards.
Next up, the heavy cavalry challenge.
Not much to say about this map... Our units have defensive stats so high the enemies can't touch them.
Achievements yeet
How much more OP can Cosette get
Oscar's armor would go well with the Cuirassiers. She'll be more unkillable than she already is.
Nivernais is Nevinel? Is Devdan most certainly not Danved?
We find Nivernais' journal and Adelaide gets excited which is apparently not the norm for her.
Anne Wellesley shows up again! From back in Chapter 1. Or was it 2?
Either way, seems like everyone barring Philipp is a magical witch.
Ohohoho, who's this Green Jacket rifleman?
Nivernais thinks everyone's a pawn. I'm sure she's a pawn herself to the British. We're all just using each other right?
This sidequest was interesting. I failed the challenge however. Most of the enemies will miss Nivernais (whom you play as!) because of her True Lies ability. However 3 of them have heroic attacks ready to be unleashed and you're supposed to talk to the named Bandits to be persuade them to join you, after which they may be able to be lured to eat some heroic attacks.
However as you can see i failed pretty hard because as soon as I convinced one of the bandits the other 2 generic bandits killed Raven in one round. Holy shit
Oof. Weaksauce Raven.
The persuaded bandits also will not wander around, which means you have to lure enemies over. But the dragoons have higher MOV than Nivernais does...
Yeah! Eat a generic heroic attack.
All the named bandits are dead and the enemies have started to move on their own. Time to fail the challenge objective. Oh yeah, you have very limited ammo especially since it's raining.
Well...finished the sidequest.
This was probably in reference to the chapter where we gut a shark and find a bunch of bandits at port.
To be honest, is there really a Nivernais who was impersonated? The characters do wonder who is real and who isn't.
I lack the funds to promote everyone, so I can only do it as I complete missions.
Desaix shall be an offensive powerhouse with the Grenadiers a Cheval. He has better accuracy than Oscar does so I think the offense boost will be put to good use with him.
-
I'm on a roll!
2nd post of the day
Hubert, being the dipshit that he is, scolds Pauline for letting enemies run rampant in Paris. He quickly changes his tone when he realizes there's glory to be had in catching Nivernais. No I don't think he's competent enough.
It appears Lannes has a bit of a reputation with the higher ups.
[Sinister snickering intensifies]
I've unlocked some pretty powerful skills from Ecole Militaire, but Advanced Reports are only dropped by these level 20+ enemies that show up in entrustment missions but are optional enemies.
Always check your Achievements once in awhile. You can unlock things to sell.
Optimizing some loadouts..
I like these little sidequests that act as "Base Conversations" but do involve easy battles that yield some exp.
Eugenie has a fan. A fan who commissioned a play and is willing to pay big money. However she doesn't realize that the fan is...
I like how this is essentially a double take in text.
The Queen can read your minds, you know?
She's probably amused.
After seeing Pauline's dating advice, I'm sure her script will be equally full of lulz
Fighting suitors?
We Homer's Odyssey now
The challenge objective is actually pretty simple. Click the blue tile to hear a melody, and then try to replay it with the green tiles. Takes a decent ear and good memory. If you succeed, your troops will get buffs.
This is like some weird RP shit between two writers who want to take things in drastically different directions
Even with such mindreading abilities I would assume you couldn't even predict this
Whoa, blue weapons. Time to buy mwahaha
Fuck my units can't use them; they probably need a promotion first...
>ominous title
Looks like I need to cut a path in the bottom left corner by destroying that mound of gravel.
NPC stats are so comically low even generic light infantry can make short work of them
A familiar boss shows his face. He reiterates to Nivernais that he's not going to shoot civilians
I skimped out a bit on level grinding. It's showing. Lannes has lower stats than the enemies. The game does expect you to level grind, especially if you are to complete some of the challenge objectives like this one.
Arty to arty.
Adelaide actually got hit? Holy shit
Crossing the bridge will be an ordeal, as the light infantry are on terrain that boosts range.
It's only 3 turns in and Nivernais is going to start making her way to the corner. Oh shit.
Dragoons are the first to cross
Can't double me if I get you first
Paulette gets doubled by the entrenched riflemen, but she's the only one who can fire back. Good thing I got Eugenie and Ami to heal and dance.
Enemy reinforcements show up as I cross the bridge
My forces are getting bogged down. I need to cut through that mound of gravel quick!
>0 damage
Hubert's forces get creamed
Utilizing Fortify, Oscar baits Philipp and takes minimal damage. She also deals minimal damage in return.
It starts raining. Nobody's gonna dodge, which mostly works out in my favor when dealing with speedy folks like Philipp.
Philipp retreats. Again.
Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck
>Hubert
>amounting to anything
I rush Charlotte ahead, but she failed to dodge the enemy dragoons...
It's up to you now, Adelaide. Nivernais has literally no chance of hitting you.
CANNONBALL, I CHOOSE YOU
I failed the challenge objective. Didn't have enough time to wipe out the enemy.
Hubert (who was defeated earlier) lays claim to the arrest of Nivernais.
Nivernais questions Pauline on why so many units with maid abilities are so quickly gathered. She hints to Pauline to question the royal family, her employers, about this.
By the way, this would mean Hubert can get his hands on the armoire de fer!
Mirabeau is questioned. He says that it seems we have failed to prevent the course of events predicted by one of Julie's paintings. He himself was supposed to have died from illness years back but the power of the blue gem (presumably now in the Armoire) saved him. Pauline believes that her army is a tool for the royalists to use (eventually) to fight the revolutionaries, but Mirabeau states that for the time being the royals are needed and can be controlled due to some clever signatures and documents that can be used to blackmail the King as needed.
Unfortunately, all such documents are in the armoire de fere. Robespierre will definitely act on this information if it comes to light, but Mirabeau will keep him from taking action for now...
Oh dear, he's sick again. I bet it's tuberculosis, lung cancer, or heart failure
An unknown amount of time passes. Pauline wonders what his her purpose.
I have more practical concerns. I need medals as now I need to consider units for promotion to advanced classes.
We're back to the front again with the Austrians. Everyone's getting redeployed.
So, Frank Man is Lafite. I presume he's based on Jacques Lafitte, governor of the Bank of France.
Not sure who Dutheil is based on, but a quick google revealed a Nicolas François Dutheil who organized royalist agents from London.
Damn, you're savage.
-
As a recap from last time, we foiled an assassination attempt but turns out that was most likely a distraction. The real deal is happening at the Louvre.
Let's teach some new fish new tricks.
Eugenie gets stabilization so she can heal even more
Charlotte gets sneak attack because I always attack from the flank anyways
Every sidequest is valuable since I need the money
The Jeanne d'Arc sidequests are puzzles. You need to figure out how to capitalize on the Reorganization skill where you heal a set amount for each kill. Enemies here can kill in 2 hits so you have to kill off the high HP ones first and then use the low HP enemies to heal up before taking on the next high HP foe.
Mirabeau tells Pauline that yes she does have Jeanne's banner. And yes everyone knows she died horribly, but how it came to be is unknown
Eugenie needs moar HP
This little skit is Disgaea levels of hilarious
Napoleon wishes to court Josephine the widow. Thing is, he's trash at romance so he consults someone who is just as socially awkward: Pauline.
He takes a vacation just to go on a date with her, which is pretty sweet of him.
Of course, they drag Murat into this since he's the one who kinda hits on women quite a bit
Note that they treat this like a battle, and Josephine isn't dumb so she catches on quite quickly that Nappy is trying his best
No Pauline! I'm sure Josephine is NOT into military tactics
I honestly did not expect this to happen next.
4th Wall: Broken
Awesome, free guns for everyone
Upgrade Eugenie some more with my new money
Some level ups because I had to bring Eugenie and Charlotte up to speed. Charlotte will surpass Murat soon with her stats
Next battle!
No challenge? Whew.
Basically we don't know where the boss (probably Nivernais?) is. We have to reach the lights across the map and turn them on.
Nivernais supposedly should not know this much about France. So is the Nivernais we know an impostor? AMONG US
Masked Marth wyd
I just realized how ridiculous it is that we have full cavalry units running amok in the Louvre
RNG likes Lannes
More enemies are revealed
Lannes takes quite a bit of damage compared to the other units, but his personal skill lets him gain health as he attacks. Thankfully, he's hitting his targets.
Well that's a shit trophy
I'm probably going to lose the treasure chest in the top left
Oooh yeaaah
C'mon Desaix, roll 'em over
Oh fuck that's a lot of light infantry
Too bad Murat is downstairs
But that's okay Cosette and Desaix can OHKO
Try harder fools
Oof
1 turn away from the treasure chest. Better not be something that locks me out of future sidequests
Imagine if this triggers on Triumph Music. Unlimited dancing.
Give me my 1.5x EXP gain
Light up 4 out of 5 candles and this happens
Can Cosette stop having godly growths? No.
I remember Murat being so fragile in the beginning. Now he dodges like it's nothing
The boss is revealed and she must not go to the red tiles.
>True Lies
Also, >maid
Holy shit that means Pauline and Lannes will never hit her. Only cavalry and light infantry would be able to score shots.
The other skill is just Speed + 1.
Cosette utilizes her Heroic attack
Because she has Heroic Reload, she gets a 2nd turn to act and attack
I could've killed Nivernais right away but since there's treasure chests to open...
Hopefully she doesn't kill Lannes since he's in the way
Oh no
Inspiring Tune can heal certain status effects
It's only fair Pauline deals the finishing blow with a boosted accuracy Heroic Attack
Oh come on
We'd like to question you further, Nivernais
But damn she uses
ZA WARUDOto freeze time and skeet out of the Louvre with the Armoire de Fer. -

So she heals, she buffs, she dances......
Bit of a skilled unit for being lazy, eh?
Meanwhile we now have bread powercreep, is there anything special about the bread aside from healing?
Special Bread is to Elixir as Regular Bread is to Vulnerary, I think.
On 9/30/2020 at 3:24 PM, This boi uses Nino said:oooh that's really cool. Mounted healers ftw!
She's like L'Arachel!
Alright, this mission has 2 separate parts.
Pauline has to speak with multiple NPCs to gather intel. It seems when you speak to NPCs it will dispel the fog of war for everyone else.
As you can see, I've stopped using D'eon because his stats are trash
Turns out earlier on it was Cosette who directed Eugenie to Pauline.
The girls note that their military academy clique is all together. Cosette, Eugenie, Pauline, and Charlotte.
It seems that Charlotte has some history with this place. Her parents were among those killed by Lafayette a few years back.
Let's talk to Nivernais first.
Nivernais found some kind of journal that has the emblem of the Maid. It may be something to read up on and translate sometime down the story.
Prussian shits start spilling out the darkness. Ride 'em down!
Greyed out? Let's restore some movement.
SPD ups are always welcome.
Julie notes that the northwest may have intruders. Pauline sends Cosette's pet skylark there, and it reveals some enemies. One bandit retreats. The boss is revealed!
The boss carries a weapon that boosts hit chance against the speedier members of our army.
Cavalry Emblem? More like Banner of the Horses no?
I accidentally sent my pirate into the depths of the enemy forces. Doesn't look too good.
General Rose is accompanied by two very well-dressed chaps.
Their interactions remind me of Kyle and Forde.
Frank man is apparently always wrong.
The west must be safe, therefore it must be dangerous.
That's kind of mean bro
Are you recruitableI'm reaching forces faster than I can reveal the map with the NPCs. Is this the so-called 8 turn challenge objective at play?
Adelaide is OP
Pauline and Lafayette discuss the tactical uses of a hot air balloon, which is considered a pretty new invention.
Lafayette mentions that he does screen the background of his subordinates. He tells Pauline that he wishes for Charlotte to stay with her, as he does know that he caused the death of her parents a few years back.
Cosette and Adelaide really are making this 8 turn challenge easy
The queen's mindreading powers are revealed here. She's distraught that she has to speak with smugglers. She also tells Pauline to deal with bandits and not to ask questions about the armoire de fer.
At this rate, Oscar will be invincible to cannon and enemy cavalry.
Zhiyun manages to survive the mission, and deals the final blow on the enemy.
Cutscene time! Looks like boss Owl made it into the compound.
They want Pauline!
Desaix does his little rescue.
There's something awfully cheesy about this but I like it
!!
Pauline brings up the conversation she had with Desaix's sister. Desaix admits that he doesn't regret participating in the Revolution, but it has taught him a few things about the mindset of the commoners.
Pauline, of all people, also mentions that she remembers Desaix asking her out for a dance. She laments that there's no chance, but Desaix says that although the small the balloon has enough space for a dance. She gets awkward.
Our protagonists deduce that this whole assassination attempt is just a distraction and that the Louvre is under attack as that is where the Armoire de Fer is located.
Are we shipping Leclerc with Pauline or Desaix with Pauline?

Hello!
4 hours ago, Dayni said:I'm impressed they went that far for her to take the advice so badly she acts out and makes things harder.
Therese is probably going to be available to play with at some point, I just have a suspicion.
Hah, I'm almost tempted to replay the game and choose the other option to see if Therese becomes controllable if Pauline tells her that everything will be like a fairytale.
She'll probably be the alternative sniper unit to Cosette. Seems like we're probably getting 2 usable characters of each class. Pauline + Lannes, Murat + Charlotte, Oscar + pseudoQuan, etc.
The challenges for each mission are very interesting. I mean, luring an enemy bandit across the map to open a door and then killing him before he can nick the treasure? That's a step ahead of the usual Fire Emblem challenge of just killing thieves before they can open locks.
Anyway sorry I've been busy with life so I only have a short non-combat update.
To recap, we just saved Therese from certain doom. Enemies are also growing manly mustaches.
These exp grinding missions do not provide money, so you can't grind for items. However occasionally as you progress you might get a mission that gives you minimal gold. I mean, 500 isn't much. However sometimes enemies will drop bottles of wine in the exp grinding missions so technically you may be able to sell them for 200 gold each.
Holy shit, is this Galeforce that only activates with critical hits?
Her voice actress has a really deep voice. She reminds me of Effie and of Fiora's FEH voice.
So yes, hearing her say CRUSH in Mandarin Chinese is... I can't find the words
Alright guys, it's gonna be one of those night time fog of war palace assassination missions
The characters remark that it's ironic people are celebrating when not too long ago Lafayette essentially ordered soldiers to open fire on rioters (remember that decision tree back then when I had to make Josephine choose between Lafayette and Robespierre?)
Lannes remarks that despite initially being full of optimism when the Revolution took place, he realized the more things changed, the more things stay the same. Corruption still exists despite there being a severe curtailing of the power of nobles. It seems that whoever is in the higher-ups are assholes, essentially. Desaix still maintains some optimism, saying that at least we now exist in a world where people are AWARE of ideals, whereas previously that was not the case.
Pauline seeks our Mirabeau, who isn't here actually. She comes across paintings of things that have happened, and it seems of things that will happen...
Oh hey, it's Julie the NPC of Ecole Militaire
Annnndd of course she's a maid. She predicts the future via paintings, but she also believes that
ANYTHING CAN CHANGEand that by showing her paintings to those involved, they can change their fate. They discuss being uncertain about their maid powers and why they keep using them.I make Pauline choose the top choice. I mean, it seems fair to use that attack boost and morale boost to steamroll the enemy and minimize damage to yourself, no?
Okay Chrom
Wait who's there
Why do I have a feeling she's gonna be the second healer
Eugenie joined the military because her father lost everything in his line of work. She's talented, exceptionally lazy, and kind of nutty.
Here we go. We've got intruders.
This is awfully depressing. But I feel like Julie will join our party in the endgame. She is a part of the military and may be similar in rank to Rose.
I wonder what skills I can buy now
>8 turns
Eugenie Caron is a mounted healer!
She doesn't come with any healing music (I'll rectify that shortly), but she's a maid...!?
Voice of Aegis: She expends morale to buff damage resistance.
Emergency Elusion: Against melee attacks, she gains +20 dodge. Shame it doesn't work with bullets.
Triumph Music allows a unit to act again.
Marching Music boosts MOV. I think I'll replace the bread with some healing music.

Desaix does look like Quan holy shit. Down to the hair color!
The reason why i write the caption above the image is because I generally sum up the content of a group of images and then follow it up by the most relevant ones. It's also easier to post because I post the images relevant to the statement rather than upload a group of images first and then describe what I just uploaded.
Anyway!
To recap, the last post we were ordered to escort a princess! This was quite the endeavor and I had to restart the mission 3-4 times due to deliberately shit AI probably because I had Pauline try to explain things rationally to the princess, causing her to act "arbitrarily."
The princess' AI would move her away from your units and the map has 3 possible paths that she can take. So it became a strategy of moving your units just beyond all her possible move ranges in the hopes that she wouldn't get OHKO'd by pretty much 90% of the enemies on the map.
Charlotte.....the princess has her own guards but her stats are utter TRASH
See how I'm making a piss poor attempt to form a protective ring around Therese's move range?
Charlotte already proves herself to be just as capable as Murat in dodging shit.
The challenge objective of this map is to lure the bandit across the map over to the locked chest and hope that he doesn't get fixated on trying to kill your units (or get killed by your units) in the process. Creative, but it's fucking hard
PRINCESS GET BACK HERE
Had to send Lannes in as a suicide unit because those dragoons are killer
Thankfully Cosette is capable of regularly doubling enemies now
It's so difficult to keep up with Therese. Her move range isn't exactly low!
And of course the bandit goes after the NPC who can't be commanded .
After 2-3 restarts as you see here Therese has reached the end of the map. No, she doesn't disappear after reaching the objective tile. Instead this triggers the boss to show up.
Luring the bandit? Nope, not working. He goes after the unit with the lowest stats and it seems like he's picked Therese. Bye bye treasure.
Philipp looks like a recruitable character in the future.
He's a Bavarian mercenary who seems to have unwillingly thrown himself in with this lot. He regrets fighting in an area where civilians can be caught in the crossfire and he wishes he can just hookup with a lovely French woman. Sain/Gatrie much? But what can you expect? Dude's got a flower pinned to his vest. He's one of those dashing cavalryman archetypes.
I forgot if I've ever seen this type of enemy before. But looks intimidating. Must be the manly 'stache.
>Threatening: Okay making someone unhealable is just fucking unfair.
Philipp mentioned that he lost Ernestine. Must be his younger sister.
Self Protection seems to let him sustain combat without relying on a healer, but he ends up being unable to do heroic attacks. His speed is terrifyingly high, and he's equally resistant to swords and bullets.
His other skill is Morale Strike, which as it says, allows him to lower morale and render heroic statuses void.
Death's Head Hussars or not, Paulette don't give a fuck. Your skull is but a stepping stone to her.
You can't render Threatening if you die in one hit.
>that speed
>that miss
A tune can only heal so much. Channel your inner Beethoven.
Yeah okay I can't deal with a boss battle and bandits at the same time. Fuck this challenge objective.
Never underestimate the power of classical music!
She may only have 4 speed but good luck killing her
360noscope motherfucker
Sorry pal, your princess is in another castle.
Philipp doesn't die. He retreats to fight another day.
The bandit just can't stop harassing Therese and ends up killed. So much for luring.
I will be very bummed if full collection of trophies is required for some secret character or weapon or job class
The party discusses how so many enemies managed to make their way into Paris of all places without nobody knowing. Traitors in our midst? The powers of a maid?! Pauline believes seeking out Mirabeau would be the best course of action.
They also wonder why the enemies weren't so sneaky. Maybe Philipp made such bold moves because he felt bad about using Parisians as a bullet sponge? Who knows.
Also Therese is sad because people died and this is nothing like her bedtime fairytales. Boohoo.
At the rate at which I gain favor with the royalists, I'm sure Robespierre will end up being an enemy at some point
-
She'll perhaps get the head chopped off....perhaps.
Cavalry will form the right flank. All else to the left.
We thought there'd only be royalist insurgents. But holy fuck how'd the Austrians get here?
Someone bribed the inspectors. We must root out the corruption.
Bandits may not kill you, but if you lose all weapon durability then you're kinda fucked.
We gotta keep killing people to flush out the boss.
Things are going well
>5 damage
>laughs in high defense
Lannes is really putting them down
Oh hey I know this generic portrait
Oh fuck lots of line infantry reinforcements
>mutual missing
Unfortunately I didn't bother to check that the Austrians can pull the heavy cavalry into enemy territory with Lure
>38 HP
holy shit DLC OP
What this
Oscar is dead, and Desaix will probably be routed soon
But I can lose 2 units before losing the battle
There's an ancient book found in the shark. It seems to be written by someone who has magical powers
Pauline wonders if she'll die in mysterious manners like the author of said book
Opening some chests
>Pecker
Please, give me all the dick jokes.
Pecker apparently was hired to guard the boats against....traitors? He claims that he was duped and he didn't expect to fight French regulars.
My mind is in the gutter
Adelaide gets more OP. Bye bye D'Eon.
Exactly what are these badges?
Ooh seems like an interesting gun.
Murat gets to be useful
Pecker gonna get chopped
Pecker gets interrogated, and he says that he seriously doesn't know what the fuck is happening.
He states he used to be a guard for the nobles and now with the revolution he's out of work and has taken up banditry. D'Eon believes that more hidden Austrians have likely snuck past and are on their way to assassinate the king.
Back in Versailles, Louis XVI throws a fit when he is told that the palace guards are being withdrawn. He notes that the commoners are really testing his patience and he can't accomodate to such unfair demands. Marie asks him to do it for the sake of their children. Mirabeau states that this is what the Assembly would want; to have the king get into direct conflict with the Assembly so they can have an excuse to probably behead the entire royal family.
Mirabeau states that this is the only way to appease the commoners for now. Louis XVI is not happy that the very consultant he has hired seems to be taking the opposition's side. He also throws a pretty big threat in private conversation with Marie.
We seem to get a hint of Marie Antoinette's maid power. She can predict the future with prophecies.
They also mention that the armoire de fer had been broken into. Historically it was an iron chest housing important papers.
Nivernais is mentioned, and Marie mentions that Nivernais actually grew up outside of France.
Our next mission is made clear. We are to escort Marie Therese, the royal princess. Historically, I believe she was the only offspring to survive to adulthood.
The pirate musket would probably be useful when you're able to camp a bush and bait enemies.
Mmmm, money
Ooh a side mission. Marie Antoinette has rumors spread about her for apparently spending military funds on jewelry and etc. The peasants are pissed and demand blood. The sidequest objective is to arrest all the people spreading fake news.
We get our first glimpse of promoted class enemies.
I only need to kill the bandits, but all these dragoons have the Intercept skill and can lower movement if they get a hit in
>those hats though
Desaix learns a useful skill
He's at the max amount of skills so I have to switch something out for Tenacious Defense. I haven't really used Replace much so...
Adelaide will prove useful in 2-rounding bandits and dodging everything else
They said for the challenge to complete this in 6 turns. Did it in 4.
Oh this is lovely.
>Special Bread
>not croissant
I replaced Replace.
Next chapter.
NEW CHARACTERS
We're introduced to the princess and her female bodyguard...
She's probably gonna be an OP cavalry unit.
The princess believes she's living out a fairytale. Her bodyguard is her fair knight with a blessed sword made to keep demons and enemies at bay. She's undecided as to whether she is actually the fair princess of a fairytale or the arrogant noble archetype. But she's riding a horse too.
Pauline shows up. The bodyguard's name is Charlotte. She used to be like an older sister to Pauline and her friends back at the academy. She's also affiliated with the Feuillants.
>Try to reason
>It didn't work but I get 50 Royalist points anyways
It's an escort mission.
Charlotte commands Hussars. She's only level 6 and her stats seem ok.
Character Skill: Merciful Revenge - Deal 2 extra damage to enemies not at full health/are buffed
Marie Therese Charlotte
While she hasn't officially joined us (yet, probably), she commands Chasseurs like Cosette does.
Princess: Cavalry units close to her get morale and defensive buffs.
-
I could've sworn I had no money. I might've been looking at another screenshot...
Anywayss....
Protagonist powers. Witchcraft, heresy, and mutation!
Like most newfound magic powers, using it for the first time causes the protagonist to go into a coma
Where this
Ah, it's Desaix's older sister, Francois-Antoinette Desaix. She reminds me of Marianne from Three Houses. She believes the Maid powers are a curse as all who carry such powers end up dying miserably. Each maid's powers differ and it depends entirely on the woman. Her own power is that she can inherit and view the memories of her dead ancestors like an animus machine from Assassin's Creed. She also does not understand why lil bro joined the revolution, as the commoners have killed many members of her family.
Even in present day, maids are considered blasphemy and heresy though the days of the crusades and medieval times have long passed.
Apparently Mirabeau knows more than he lets on about maids.
Pauline meets up with Desaix who informs her that Nappy was completely victorious in Italy and the war there is over.
Ohoho, next chapter.
Who be these new characters? At least they don't have overly large chests.
Historically, the Secret du Roi was a network of intelligence agents that served the king.
Apparently D'Eon used to crossdress so well that men would ask for his hand in marriage.
Adelaide de Broglie is one of the Secret du Roi.
Nivernais is a teenage girl spy who is mistaken as a teenage boy. Pauline is confused, as she remarks that Nivernais totally looks like a chick. I mean, she's flat but she's still got a bit of chest.
There is a plot to assassinate the king. The crew attempts to deduce who the culprits would be. The foreign powers would want to have French royals in command, so naturally if the king were to be assassinated the blame can go to the revolutionaries. Therefore, if a foreigner did want to assassinate the king they would not be suspected.
Adelaide de Broglie commands the same unit as D'Eon. Like him, she's a flanker rather than a sniper. Her character skill is Intelligence Gathering, which plays into her low HP base. If HP < Target's, get +1 Attack and +20 Dodge. Otherwise I think she's already faster than D'Eon.
Time to buy some skills and improvements..
These Free Combat missions yield EXP only, not additional money. Otherwise you can endlessly grind.
So I grind a bit.
Also wtf is this
Turns out MUSYNX is a new indie rhythm game from another Chinese company. And I guess Azure Studio is giving them a shoutout
I do some grinding and this is more or less what stats the characters have. I don't know if the growths are random or fixed.
Cosette is really one of my favorite units thanks to her long range, high attack, and she has good spd growth
I'm not really impressed by D'eon to be honest. Adelaide has much better stats in almost all areas. D'eon can stat boost adjacent infantry with his guard skill, but that's about it.
That SPD is so bad
Murat needs a better weapon, otherwise despite his doubling he can't kill off light infantry and artillery fast enough
Let's pay the comte a visit.
It's the story of Joan of Arc.
>Spearmen
wait>6 turns
Ah fuck
So basically this map is more puzzle than anything. You have to kill off the enemy in 6 turns so you have to kill at least one per turn. Some of the enemies have high enough HP to counterattack, but Pauline can kill them all and you need to utilize her Reorganization skill.
Sadly there's no pikeman or spearman animations.
Took me three tries to get the right sequence
I like how Mirabeau essentially cuts Pauline off at this particular question and says "NEXT TIME WE SHALL TALK ABOUT IT"
Okay now we go to the next map
>Investigable shark corpse
Cavalry units will be important in reaching those treasure chests.
Maybe I should replace D'Eon with Mu Zhilun the pirate.

Looking at the curvaceous sprite and the recent reaction to Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil....I agree with you
