Like many others, I like the gameplay aspects of the children, but their placement into Fates's story was really awful.
First, there simply wasn't enough time for the Gen 1 units to have the kids at all. In Awakening, only Lucina had been born and that was during a time skip of two years. The story made it clear that the other married couples hadn't yet conceived which makes sense given that they were in the middle of 3 wars. In Fates, by contrast, we know from Revelations that only a few months at most have passed from the beginning until they descend into Valla.
Second, the Deep Realms is just plain idiotic. No parent would send their kid to a place where they could conceivably live their whole life in what would feel to you 1-2 years. At the first visit when your baby is now 5 years old, most parents would be horrified and pull their child out ASAP. Plus, the story excuse for why the children were sent there is that they needed a safe place away from the fighting. You know, it's too bad that the army didn't live an fortified castle on the Astral plane outside the war between Nohr and Hoshido....oh wait, they did.
It's just really hard to accept all that. I would have been much better to do a time skip. Perhaps destroying Garon in a major Act I and then going after the real threat in an Act II that took place 15-20 years later.
All that said, some of the kids are really great characters though so I still get them.

My general view is if I am doing something within the rules and mechanics provided by the developers then it's fair game. Personally I hate self imposed limits because any failure to my mind can be laid at the feet of the limit.
The problem I've had with Fates is that playing by the rules allows ridiculously overpowered stuff.

Do folks not consider buying skills through MyCastle battles legit? Or forging?
I wonder because so much of the advice here seems to ignore those options. I know that DLC is considered out of bounds for a "no-grind" game. This is an honest question. I'm pretty new to the community.

I look at it like this, after the war, although the royal families are friends and all, the populace isn't. They even talk about how Leo and Xander are having to get their people on board with the new way of doing things. I see Valla as a demilitarized zone between Nohr and Hoshido. Probably the now sealed canyon, and some amount of land to the west and east that used to be Nohr/Hoshido. Possibly including now leaderless lands like Izumo and Mukushu. As for the Castle, I think that was a noble keep somewhere in that area. They brought back some artifacts from Valla, like the throne to make it all official.
That's my headcannon excuse for it.

OP, if you live in Illinois as your profile says, you probably have access to Medicaid for health insurance. You also possibly qualify for SSI benefits if your autism/anxiety is debilitating enough. I know not everyone wants to accept government help, but it's there for a reason.

No, I don't. But then I don't understand Corrin's reasoning for going back and staying with a 'father' that kidnapped you, killed your birth mother and adopted father (although you think he's your real father), tried to have you killed and keeps sending you on suicide missions.

Does Witch's Brew give anything good, like Stat Increasers, or is it just Vulneraries?
I get stat boosters more often than not.

Meh. I pretty much never bothered with forging in past FE games. I don't see any reason to bother with it now, with the way it's been revamped and the fact that the improvements are minimal. Especially on Conquest, because of limited resources. Creativity is not my strong suit, either. . .
I can see this in Conquest, but for endgame and for the other paths, forging is insane. At +6 and +7 any weapon gets +10 and +15 crit respectively, assuming the weapon can crit. This can turn really ordinary weapons into better weapons than legendary weapons.
For example, a Thunder +7 is Mt 16, Hit 100, Crit 15, Avo 0 and range 1-2
For comparison, Leo's Brynhildr is Mt 10, Hit 80, Crit 5 and range 1-2
And while it is expensive and time consuming to gather all the resources and the 128,000 needed to buy enough Thunder's, I've been happy with the results.

Cousins marrying each other isn't that uncommon. In many places in the U.S. or elsewhere it is perfectly legal. And royal families are notorious for marrying off cousins.

I like all of them, but Kiragi can get just stupid amounts of skill with the right mother. And there's nothing that gives you that warm feeling like a crit in the 200s with Kiragi saying "Have a nice day!" as he murders them!

Nina, she's goofy but Niles is gross and Shura is just random fantasy charater.
Forrest vs Elise vs Dwyver (trabadour)
Love them all, will not choose and you can't make me!

Forrest and Shiro are my tops. Basically for all the reasons stated. Ophelia is a close third to those guys.
The worst is Percy. He just seems like a joke character that's not funny.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but the SaizoxBeruka support chain was excellent I thought. The C support made the rest sort of rushed, but it was so true to both characters that I literally laughed out loud.

It's the same with Soleil - the localisation bent over backwards to clarify - "no, no, she's bisexual. See? We added this line. She likes boys and girls." But then her only opposite-sex romance is with a dude who looks like a lady and, yes, you got it, the player avatar, while simultaneously having no romantic female supports (instead, hers are just kind of... creepy, at least early on.) I suppose the localisation has something in common with IS in that they just can't make up their minds or commit to a single idea.
EDIT: God I'm angry this morning. Please excuse the vitriol, I just got up and I have no idea why I'm like this today.
In Revelations she can marry Kiragi.

I agree. However, I don't believe Azama is particularly popular for that very reason, even if he's got a few good lines. Jakob, on the other hand, seems to be very well-liked and I just don't see why. I'd never be able to stand someone brown nosing me, and if I found out my subordinate had gone out of his way to insult people and make their lives generally more difficult, I would've fired him immediately.
Jakob won a lot of points from me on his initial support with the Avatar. I still get a chuckle when he tells her/him that she may not be independent. I know it's almost creepy to be that obsessed, but it was still funny. I liked Jakob/Camilla for a similar reason. Their competition was actually true to both characters.
As for Soleil.....I still love her, but that girl needs sexual harassment training. I think Ophelia got what was coming to her though in the B support.

How are you guys beating this on your first and second tries? I tried doing this myself five times, then went to YouTube. I watched three different people play it, and copied their moves exactly. None of which worked. Then I looked at this forum. Tried taking your advice and played the map seven times. Needless to say, I lost every time. Will someone help me? I just want Corrin to be a grandmaster!!!!!!
I'm not sure what difficulty you're on, but if you're playing on Normal, switch to Phoenix and it will carry over into the DLC.
Opinion on Different HP and Luck Caps?

I like the differential caps. I just wish the HP growths were so stingy in this game.
