  1. I did say this topic was going to be a variety thing...so we'll get back to Aileron soon. For now, meet another in the Collective: Doc. This is just part 1, since I'm not feeling good and I wanted to get this out of the way, to be honest. Sorry if it's short! (EDIT: I really need a second writer. I made some pretty messy mistakes.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Gambler of Fate Dead Man's Gamble, Part 1 ---- The almost eternal dark landscape of Nohr crept through Doc's mind, as if reminding him of his days that are long gone. But that didn't stop him from riding further through the nearly-dead land around him, he was almost used to it by now. Almost. While he had seen everything, Doc was still mighty fearful of the Royal Family and the King, Garon, despite his children being more than amicable. He only spoke when he was given a task by Prince Leo or King Garon; usually to quell whatever rebellion that was putting Nohr at risk. Other times, it was getting rid of dirty laundry with Niles; quick and painless executions to either upset the balance of whatever target Garon wanted gone...or mindless killing. Doc was adverse to the latter, given his history towards mindless killings leading to the death of his own family. After all, he had yet to experience the war that would soon follow. This mission, he was accompanied by Niles and Nina, an orphan that Niles had caught trying to break into Castle Krakenburg and took her in as a daughter. Much to Nina's distress around men, Niles brought her as a learning experience to understand the conditions she was fighting in and, after nearly a full day of riding, they finally arrived at the location: A small mansion on the outskirts of Nestra. "What're we doing here?" said Nina, crossing her arms with a hint of impatience. "That mansion's occupants aren't against King Garon in the mission papers, so why're we casing this place?" "King Garon wants us to kill someone. A random knight he wants killed," sighed Niles as he read his notes. "Specifically, a royal knight who is serving these folk." "But, I don't understand that, Niles," said Nina. "Why's it important that we kill him?" "I don't know much myself...but whoever the 'Hound of Nestra' is, he's certainly done something to piss Garon off," said Niles. "But this? It's all too intriguing for killing one specific person for being patriotic..." Doc grunted, looking out of his viewfinder, zooming down at the compound to look at the guards. "But why go through the effort of sending assassins when we can just simply walk right in to find him?" "It's never that simple with King Garon, Doc, even Lord Leo can confirm that his father's demands are absurdly specific," said Niles as he leaned on a near-by rock. "That reminds me, Nina, have you heard back from your friend yet?" Nina jolted her head up from writing. "I can't deny that I haven't, but we still don't know where that wandering girl from the Ice Tribe went," said Nina with a sigh, sinking her head back down. "Though, reports say she's been covering her tracks pretty well." "I still don't know why the Ice Tribe leader would ask us through his daughters...those maids that serve Prince Kamui and Princess Corrin," Niles said, clasping his chin in thought. "But they certainly want her safe and sound; despite her troublesome personality." "Reminds me of me a little when we went through those first few missions, huh?" said Nina. "Except those were lower-risk people, this is a bigger mission that you need multiple people on..." said Niles as he facepalmmed. "For now, we'll wait until Doc can spot him." It was at this moment when Doc raised his hand to the two of them and pointed at the door to the Mansion. Looking through separate viewfinders, they viewed a singular blue haired individual wearing what seemed to be a fusion of a butler and royal knight's outfit, who then boarded a horse and rode off towards Nestra. "I believe that's our target," said Niles, motioning towards Nina. "Nina, get the horses." "Understood," said Nina with no hesitation. After bringing the horses from the wooded area, she turned to Doc who rose from the ground with a troubled face. "What's wrong? You looked like you saw a ghost." Doc didn't respond, ignoring Nina's question. He quickly got on and rode his horse ahead while Niles simply appeared beside Nina. "What's with him?" "Who knows," shrugged Niles as he and Nina began slowly walking their horses down the path. "He's always been like that...for the two years I've known him. I still don't know much about him, really. But he doesn't like bringing up his past a whole lot." Nina could only stare ahead as she and Niles took off after Doc. Ahead of the two, Doc had a rare moment to consider his options on dealing with the Hound of Nestra...but what troubled him more was that the boy strikingly reminded him of his dead son. But he had to reserve his judgment of dealing with the consequences when they came. For now, he was the hunter. With his prey slowly galloping towards Nestra. He could only hope that this mission would not end with death and he could convince the boy to run for the border and escape King Garon's madness. But for now, he had a job to do with Niles and Nina trailing behind. Whether he liked it or not. To Be Continued... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  2. Weapon colors from MM1/ Powered Up Mock-up for a potential thing.
  3. Let's start this off right with one of my recent things, I'll upload more as I do stuff: EDIT: EDIT: Okay I think it's done now
  4. When I was a lot younger, I used to have some pretty esoteric dreams of abstract places and very odd poetry prose, especially from one line I still remember: "O'er some hellish hill With this hallowed home None shall come hither than the stranger tide's blister" Most of my dreams ended up a dark route until like three years ago; making them less morbid, yes, but I actually tend to discover more that those dreams were more of a vision into my own mind to show me something either darkly or frankly horrifying from a more Jungian-level horror. I guess that's what lead me to Psychology in trying to understand myself. And then lucid dreams where I end up in Gensokyo from Touhou or various other places, doing random as hell shit. But most of the times now involve a dream of various locales and places that I've never seen before or just imagining these worlds for something. One dream I have constantly repeating is of a large valley (around the state of Texas, let's say,) surrounded by mountains with various forests, trees and rolling hills from wall to wall of the valley. In the centerfold of it all was a giant tree with what seemed to be a castle built within the bark and tree; I couldn't really describe it any better as it's always been a repeating dream for the past 15 years now.
  5. Oh wow, nice to see a thread for this! I actually wanted to write that I really did enjoy Azura as a whole in Fates, although writing on some parts was a bit rough. Rena Strober is fantastic and I'm glad she was able to put forth the performance given; I hope to hear more of her when I play Zero Time Dilemma and, hopefully, many more projects.
  6. http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=65062 You can find the thread above. For the most part I intended to make it be a story that collectively focuses on several people, but I kept to one for the time seeing as this story is just beginning. I worked pretty hard and I appreciate the constructive criticism when possible!
  7. I honestly didn't expect to begin writing this for a while. But I might use this as a means of telling a tale or two that I've had in my mind for a while. Although this one might be a long one, so I hope that I can entertained. I intend to split between this story along with several entries from the main character's actual in-universe journal. If anything isn't clear, let me know in the feedback thread for this! For now, enjoy the Prologue. (EDIT: AN: The story's first arc is mostly in Awakening, but very abridged in a way. I don't have much of an explaination beyond that but it'll mostly involve Aileron's POV and very rarely show Robin's.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prologue ~ The Outrealms Myth vs. Reality For a time, no one knew where the Outrealms came from. It was only stated to be a myth, written as part of the tales the creation myths with Naga, and nothing more. Coincidentally, it also became an enigma of sorts to the wary commoners and locals who would mysteriously disappear from the world they belonged to. The disappearences, although never fully explained, were cast off as people simply dying or off on a very long journey. However, there are a few who know of the Outrealms. The few wayward souls who travel between world to world, simply seeking adventure or escape from their own madness. Though they do not meddle in the affairs of a world, they cannot turn a blind eye and simply watch form afar with whatever conflict that may occur. The accounts of these few explain possibly the mysteries and detailed accords of the various tales from the era of Akaneia, Jugdral, Tellius, Magvel, Elibe and, more recently, Ylisse's dynasties and wars. But the question of where these few come from isn't totally explained, at least in a more common sense. Supposedly there may exist a nexus, or centerfold, that may connect the different points in time, space and, perhaps, all other planes of reality. A recent conjecture had brought the conclusion of these worlds being connected by one realm, said by the Ylissean Tactician named Robin after being transported to a future where Grima still existed among various other realms that he and the Shepards explored. Usually, this would be a cause for concern for us that do know. To say that Robin's idea would be thrown aside as 'simply impossible,' is a relief upon the Grand Order within this very world... A world where I-- No, all of the lost, huddled masses and immigrants for various timelines or destroyed worlds due to unforeseen incidents to call home: Navarre, the ever infinitely expanding plane of reality that acts as the crux and nexus for every world, time period and dimensions that may exist. Though, I suppose I've rambled for a while. I've forgotten my manners: My name is Aileron Rowe, I'm a resident of Navarre and traveller between worlds to seek an adventure or, simply, to laze around to take in the landscape. I cannot say that I'm a staunch workaholic, but it usually works out for me when I get to go on missions within the outrealms to keep an eye on things. I work as a for-hire Mercenary (sort-of) by the Grand Order, an organization that serves the Regent (Lord) and his Wife (Lady) and is a quasi-secret force that usually handles external conflicts by sending operatives to keep an eye on world histories from being altered or, simply, vacation time. Yes, Vacation is a mandatory task when people overwork. Such is the case for me, leaving the comforts of my nice air-conditioned ranch to head towards a splinter of the main timeline for the period of Ylisse. Quite no joy than sniffing horse manure once more. Gods, why must I go to some place like Ylisse and not a place like one of those privately owned beaches that the Anna family runs? Nevertheless, I suck up my pride with any mission I take. As for more information on Navarre, it is a strange case of both modernization from various lost people who come from 'Japan', 'United States' and any other lost soul from the planet known as 'Earth'; along with some places taking the more traditional, medieval or turn of the century-rustic look with instances of modernization. Fortunately the technology is advanced, allowing for upgrades from horse and buggy to these vehicles. Some of the outrealmers who lost their worlds due to an external threat appeared in Aeero City, where most of the Naga-centric (or otherwise) are entered from with the Eastern Gate. The Gate is a way to easily enter worlds, allowing for transportation on an easier level with smaller vehicles, or horseback. But I chose to walk, seeing as I needed an excuse to exercise my muscles, instead of commandeer a horse from the owners of the Gate. There are four gates: The North, The East, The West and The South Gates: Each leading to a different set of Outrealms. The Eastern Gate sits at the edge of the world in Aeero City, being maintained by a family known as the Signore Family. As I enter through the first building and reach the counter where my good friend and manager of the Gate, Civaro Signore, along with his wife (one of the Annas) as I hand them my report ticket for them to overlook. I sigh as I slouch into a comfortable pose. "So you're heading back to Ylisse?" said Civaro, turning to me with a curious eye after shooing Anna away for the time. "For vacation?" "I didn't have much of a choice, along with the fact that Lord Lowell is hard to bargin with considering our relationship," I said ruefully. "I swear to Naga, he seems to enjoy sending me out to this place at any given opportunity! It's like he knows my secret of loving the smell of Horse crap!" The two of us broke into a small chuckle as he organized the papers together. "So where's your son at?" I said to Civaro out of curiousity. "It's not like Jake to be gone on a work day." "He's currently running some deliveries to a few clients: Namely the Browning Corperation and our good friends the Hoshi family," said Civaro. "I can't tell you what Lucian's up to with whatever the hell he's been getting from the Outrealms...stuff's pretty expensive." "I wonder if it's got to do with that obsession he has of trying to collect every legendary weapon or his luck at keeping the Museum from being put into absolute debt?" I thought openly. "But then again, he said he was trying to work on upgrading the school in Academia Island. So who knows?" Civaro simply shrugged as he came to me with a pen and paper. "You know the deal though, but, when do you think you're going to be back? I've got several things I'd like to do with you." I shrugged as I signed the papers. "Depending on how long Trevor wants to keep me away...which is probably a month in our cycle of time," I said. "I'm guessing you wanna finish building that airship huh?" "I mean, it's been six months, so you can't blame me," said Civaro as I handed him the signed documents. "Alright, gate should be opening soon...any last things?" "Mind calling my cousin Eirika? She's gotta take care of my mutt, Mugi, while I'm gone," I said with a sigh. "Other than that, no." "Sure, because I owe ya one from the other night..." said Civaro, patting my back as he hobbled back to his office. "Now off ya go, you nut!" As Civaro hit the switch to open the gate I grabbed my knapsack to my back and looked to him, waving goodbye as I was engulfed in a blue light. This was the same old feelings everytime I'd go through that portal. But for some reason fate wouldn't have it any other way and I didn't expect the long journey ahead of me and the few people who brave the worlds. A journey that would bring questions to the history of the Outrealms. 8. I'm currently watching through Diamond is Unbreakable (JoJo's), Samurai Flamenco, Nozaki-kun and Macross Delta. Recently finished Sakamoto, which was a pretty fun series, and revisiting the original Gundam series. Still gives me chills for whatever else I've gotta return to in terms of this huge (700+ hour) backlog.
  9. I finally got around to joining this place after lurking for so long in the Hacking section! Glad I can be part of the discussion whenever I can be! I've been playing this series ever since PoR, but I didn't come to appreciate it until I played those that came before and after.
