I completely agree people look at Youtube comments and see some complaints and criticisms and think that the Fire Emblem fanbase is full of entitled "elitists" and think that they completely hate the 3DS games and the things they brought to the table. It's the reason why "Awakening saved the series" might as well be a meme by this point and is one the most annoying things to hear whenever I talk about Fire Emblem with someone who isn't a fan of the series as a whole. I started with Awakening and have beaten most of the games and talk with a lot more of the core fanbase and just see the assumptions about it as obnoxious. Although I guess this is something we all have to get used to since Fire Emblem has become a much more popular series and there will continually be people criticizing the games in the fanbase and people outside treating it as endless complaining just because they don't care as much about the series. Nah, you don't sound like a douche.

Yeah "Awakening saved the series" is very tired of a point and I don't really get why people bring it up. If anything, some might find it insulting to see a game different than what they want save what they want saved. And either way, what's made FE so much more mainstream is just marketing plain and simple. Thanks for saying that. I just thought my rant might come off as pretentious, know-it-ally and like I was acting like I knew human psychology like it was my major or something.

As excited as I am, I know the same negative members of the fanbase are going to instantly crap on the new characters/plot/whatever even with only like a minute of footage or something. :/

There's negative members in every fanbase. It's nothing new. Also, iirc, it took until Fates, Awakening, and Echoes came out for a large number of people to crap on any part of it. People overestimate how much of the fanbase is "shit." Then again, that's how most fanbases always are. The Undertale, FNAF, etc. fanbase are nowhere near as bad as people think they are. It's pretty funny too because you'll see a video about how the series is bad and 99% of the comments are just "man the FNAF fans sure did come crawling out" or something like that even though maybe two comments are like that. To give an example in FE, the recent "Basically this is FE" video had a comment with a ton of likes that tried to act like all old fans are is whiners and that they deny that any of the video's content represents FE. People get a weird victim complex when it comes to fanbases and it is intriguing, laughable, and sad all at the same time. People forget that the silent majority exists oh so easily.  Man I sound like a douche in this comment.

Keep in mind that the game may not be showcased during the E3 direct on June 12. It may be revealed during the subsequent 3 day Nintendo treehouse.

Pretty sure the 3 day treehouse is just gameplay stuff though. I don't remember them ever revealing stuff there. Also, since FE is a big IP now, I highly doubt they would just let it get revealed so unceremoniously.

If it's a remake of an FE game, I hope they go all out and not half-assed like SOV. Update the dreadful maps, add new classes and add weapon triangle.

As Nintendo has stated before, it's not a remake. FE16/FE Switch is an original main series game. Whether that means it's related to past games in any way is still up in the air though. Also, I think someone is allowed to dislike something even if they haven't played it or at least say they're disinterested. I don't need to watch The Room to know how bad it is for example. It could be amazing, but having these first impressions be so bad is a big mistake on Game Freak/Nintendo's part.

    None of them.

Pirate emblem didn’t have enough information and was debunked pretty quickly. Vampire/Gothic emblem just sounded like it would be Fates only edgier with way too many ways for it to screw up. That and everytime I thought about it I got this mental image of Corrin in a vampire cape going “bleh bleh I vant to suck your blood.”

Gonna have to agree with this as well. Too much dumb crap in all of them for my tastes.

  6. The only reason I was against the removal of face-petting was not becuase I wanted it or liked it, but just because I dislike censorship of almost any kind. It feels like babying to remove stuff because we supposedly "can't take it." I understand why some might not be bothered by smaller changes, but I've learned that when it comes to stuff like censorship it usually comes in small steps towards larger things so I always am against it. Adding content or changing something slightly to keep the T rating is justifiable imo and is fine, but otherwise I will always disagree with it. The Soliel controversy was really stupid as it started with a joke taken seriously and went from there as people who probably weren't even into FE or knew what it really was decided to suddenly care about it. I'm more mixed with her character itself as she's such a non-used stereotype from Japan (more common ones including tsundere and the like) that just no one would get here in the US and it would come off as confusing. Though they didn't change the supports (except her S's and M!Corrin's), so it still doesn't really make sense to uninformed players so it's still weird. Though some of the stupidest changes were in the other supports where things changed for no good reason. Some of the S supports for the children characters became "best friends forever" supports (RIP M!Kana) and Saizo and Beruka's C support randomly was changed into a joke support. All in all though, censorship is really annoying and should be avoided. Also, I feel like we had this convo some amount of pages ago and I typed something really similar. All rant aside, it's very likely something will get censored. I didn't really hear anything about Echoes getting censored though, though that was still by 8-4 who are a lot less stringent. Though if we're getting a world wide release, it might be Treehouse which is usually OK, but they fucked up Fates in many ways, which hurt my trust a lot.

I'd say that was due to their focus on getting UK VAs, with it having less of a developed VA scene than the US. Even then I thought it was decent enough; middle of the road, heard far better and far, far worse.
And I thought the story was better than the 1st game's story (granted, it isn't perfect but I also don't hold 1 as some paragon of JRPGs). Either of their plots IMO are better than anything FE's put out in my experience (especially with Awakening/Fates/SoV showing that IS will go out of their way to hijack their own storytelling attempts).

I mean I don't think it was terrible. Just kinda mediocre. Though you get used to it. I won't comment further on XC2's story because this isn't the thread for it and I don't wanna go over in detail of what I disliked because of that. Though I disagree about both being better than anything FE has recently. Ignoring XC2 so we avoid debate about its story, a lot of FEs have high quality stories. Not perfect of course, but quality nonetheless. Though you did say in your experience, so I don't know what FEs you have played or not to know that perspective. If it's just the really recent ones, then I understand perfectly. I dislike XC2's story, but between it and Fates, XC2's story is far better.

I liked the gambling minigames (tip is, don't draw more cards when you have 18 points in Blackjack) but the fishing minigame was terrible, especially so when the RNG decided to be an ass to me and give the AI a bunch of rare fishes in a row. The only thing that made me rush 3rd and avoid getting all achievements was a certain star (moon?) door

      Reveal hidden contents

Namely, Kloe's second door. I really don't care about what she's doing with the kids and the matron, especially when it's a door about the latter's birthday.

Yeah, that door and the one about

    Spoiler

    Josette and her family

are my least favorites. At least the one above has a fun minigame

Do you mean chapter 14? (ch.13 boss is a male). That boss is supposed to have higher stats than anything you've really seen so far, but only speed is supposed to be capped. I think I know how to fix it - can you tell me some of the other instances where you've encountered this?

Yeah, I did. Woops. Put some pics of examples in the spoiler below.

For example, the bottom shows chapter 13's boss. As expected, he's got crazy good stats. However, the swordmaster to the right (the top pic), has even better stats and is far more dangerous. He also isn't really worth to kill since you just get a wind sword that you could easily buy from the armory in chapter 12. Btw, there's two bonus master seals that no character needs in the game. Don't know if that's intentional or not, but it gives the player a crap ton of bonus money for the amazing items in chapter 12's armory (like the aforementioned wind sword).

This is the boss of chapter 14. There were some others I think might have quite good stats compared to my team, but considering the game's PP focus and the nature of the enemies, I understand why they might have such stats.

This is the only other example I saw that doesn't look right. This is a normal healer valkyrie (the one that drops the fortify staff) and she's got capped speed.

    2

I might start from the beginning again just to get some more pics of examples.

  10. So is the chapter 13 boss supposed to have capped strength, skill, and speed? Because I don't think she is. I might have an older version though.

Edit: Yeah it seems to be a mistake that's happened a couple times in some chapters where the stats have been a little scewed into ridiculously high numbers every now and then. Probably an error with the input of stats, growth rates, and levels of enemies if I had to guess the source. It's really easy to screw that stuff up, especially in FEBuilderGBA

  11. I feel that the Cipher OCs and whatnot aren't in any way connected to FE16. It would completely alienate a lot of western FE players, a large part of buyers, to do so. It's probably just a reference for fans of Cipher for a Cipher character to ask something about the Boundless Chaos. I do think that Cipher OCs will be DLC in FE16 though sense Echoes did so. I also enjoy Nieve's art. It's tasteful fanservice which I can get behind. More is less after all.

Maybe he is something on the light side xD but he looks okay^^

do you thing this pictures have something to do with fe16? Maybe this characters were in the fire emblem games but i dont found them.

These are both Cipher mascots. Pretty recent ones at that. They've introduced quite a few recently.

  13. I think it's just supposed to show that he once was a genuinely good guy and that Lopto is the only reason he is the way he is now. It also helps show the inner conflict of Ishtar as she struggles against the right path of justice, or the obviously less righteous path of staying with the ones she loves despite their evils.

This is a rather dumb argument. It's not the same thing, because when rape and genocide are present in (competent) fiction they're portrayed as horrible things. The people who perpetrate them are meant to be awful people, and they're supposed to be awful things that we're not supposed to enjoy. They're meant to horrify us, to show how awful a situation is.

Child marriage or sexualization of very young characters in anime and games are generally done for the pleasure of their audience without really having a discussion on why adults marrying children this young can be damaging to a child and why it's an abuse of power on the adult's part. A piece of media that discusses child marriage respectfully and goes into the full effects of it would be okay because it's making a point. If it's just to pander to someone's fetish, it feels less okay. Things that are generally not okay can eventually be widely accepted as "not a big deal" because people are shown and told that it's "okay" so often that they are no longer sensitive to it. I'm not even just talking about child marriage here, this is relevant to a lot of ideas.

Not to side with anyone, but I'm 99% sure people get off to pretty dark as shit rapey stuff on the net and they aren't raping people so I don't think it's as simple as that.

    What about them?

The author was found to have... dubious, shall we say, materials of underage females. It sparked a debate by many about if you can still enjoy art if you don't like the artist/they're a terrible person. Personally, I think you can. I fucking hate 99% of Hollywood, but that hasn't stopped me from buying their shit movies.

That's a pretty hollow excuse. This game wasn't made in medieval times, but the 21st century. To appeal to 21st century fans. It's still all sorts of sketchy.

Anyway, logic dictates that I should go for Ninian, since the only flier mage I don't have is a blue mage flier. But dammit, too biased on faves..

Considering how the games act, sometimes they want to act like they take place in medieval times with medieval values, then they're suddenly very egalitarian. Also, it wouldn't be the first time something unappealing to people appears in a game taking place in a different period. Not that I'm defending the Sanaki thing though. This better be some culture gap about what a flower girl looks like or something.
