  1. I admittedly had that issue a lot in CS and CSII where there are a lot of good party members to use, but you only have 6. If you want to, just keep Alisa and Elliot in the back if you gotta choose ones outside the main four. They're more for support anyway.
  2. The amnesiac protags popular in the late 2000s and early 2010s are coming back! I sure hope that we'll speculating incorrectly. We've had enough amnesiacs in video games in the past decade or so to las a lifetime.
  3. The real question is if this confirms simply that part of the leak, or the leak as a whole. Only time will tell I guess. The only leaks I don't think are beneficial are the ones like Echoes where the whole game is spoiled and a free download of it is obtainable.
  4. Do you realize it's actually getting ported? That was an official thing announced in March.
  5. I think this is probably the most accurate. Most of the really bad tropes many associate with anime nowadays tends to come from light novels, particularly isekais, due to their bland writing, main character worshipping, and usage of tropes with barebone execution of said tropes. Tropes aren't inherently bad by any means, but when they are misused in a series that usually executes tropes well (and honestly is where most of the good writing is from), it can become noticeable and many may come to dislike it as we have seen.
  6. I have to full-heartedly agree with this. The many distinctions of what's "anime" just confuses people in conversation so much that it's really annoying because what one person sees as "anime" going into a conversation may be completely different than someone else's definition of "anime." It's become such a loose word for English speakers, and probably others as well, that it's hard to get points across without being called a hater of anime or not understanding what is and isn't anime. We really need to create some new word to define it or something.
  7. To add onto that, FE2/15 and FE10 both have one of the gods help you. In addition, the bonus ending scene from FE10, iirc, shows her come back as a combined true form. As for Florina, I believe it isn't anything like that. She's just timid with everyone and especially men.
  8. I think things get too "anime" only if the tropes feel more prevalent than actual writing and characters. FE13 and 14 were OK with the characters most of the time, but they definitely felt bad at first impression and it doesn't help that you have to dig through 50 supports to see why they are the way they are. On the story end, both Fates and Awakening have way too much "power of friendship" for my taste. The avatar thing CAN be done right, but FE12, 13, and 14 do it in the most nauseating way to me where they think the player must be treated as a god by good guys and like the devil by bad guys. Add facepetting and really cringy waifu type stuff and you get a game I feel I shouldn't play in public. I don't hate any of the games, but I just don't want this shift in tone and appearance for a series that never really had it before (bar FE7 where you can just not have the avatar in Eliwood and Hector mode).
  9. Fates felt like it had effort. I never felt like the localization team intentionally skimped out (except for maybe the "..." support) because they got lazy. They cut/changed content, sure, but I always felt like it was because they thought it was in the players' and business' best interest (whether that it was is a different debate). NISA didn't even really try. Minimal editing and even the horrendous idea of machine translating. If that doesn't show a lack of effort or care, I don't know what does. It's why I love that Xseed shows a lot of love and care for their games. They do their best to put in as much voice acting, they'll even add in extra lines (as seen in the PC releases of CS), and also add little things that weren't there in the OG game like with the chest phrases. NISA comes off as average at first, but that's when you compare it to a bygone age. They are like a fast food restaurant. It's not especially amazing or maybe even good, but you know what you're getting and it's cheap and efficient. Whether that's your cup of tea or not, I'm not sure, but imo, to put it as a ranking, NISA-Horrible Treehouse-Average XSeed-Amazing
  10. While there have been many fudge-ups over the years, one of the biggest ones of recent date was the horrendous Ys 8 where they had to later patch the following. Source:https://gematsu.com/2018/01/ys-viii-relocalization-update-now-available The relocalization, which weighs 1.16 gigabytes on PlayStation 4 and 279 megabytes on PS Vita, includes changes in the script, item names, in-game terminology, monster and boss names, graphical text, and a fully re-recorded English dialogue. Read more at https://gematsu.com/2018/01/ys-viii-relocalization-update-now-available#h3gBAERYWj4X1MLb.99 There are many other examples of rushed translations and whatnot too throughout the years. Also, to comment on Ys 8 for a second again, it's been proven that they machine translated some of the lines in the original patch. If EA is considered the worst business in the US, I think I know who would be second.
  11. I honestly just don't see us having a sequel. (Unless it's Fates or Awakening for some reason.) They're definitely going to try to draw in a new crowd since it's on a new system and is the first "console" game in a while. Hopefully they realize marketing is the thing that makes these games succeed and don't just leave it in the dust.
  12. It's weird how in every other aspect of life, I'm wanting time to go slower, while when it comes to E3, I want it to come faster.
  13. I don't believe it either, but focusing on 2018 titles doesn't necessarily mean there will be no 2019 titles mentioned.
  14. Do we know a more exact date for that livestream btw?
  15. Guess it all depends if we see the deals being similar to how they were described before at a later date or if the E3 offerings are similar. Not that the leak would even matter at that point anyway.
  16. Alert! Some news about the Nintendo Switch online gaming stuff was revealed! Does this support the leak then? (Link for reference below) https://gematsu.com/2018/05/switch-online-service-features-and-plans-detailed
  17. I still wait for the day we implement Kaga style events for characters.
  18. Considering it has to live up to Tellius' grand name, (In the community's eyes I mean. Personally I only somewhat like the Tellius games.) it's gonna HAVE to be impressive or it will be a let down in many eyes.
  19. I don't mind Peri as a character. I mind her in the context of how she brings down other characters by somehow standing her, at best, doubtful, and at worst, morally unacceptable, behavior just for her to exist in the army. If she could somehow permanently redeem herself or something, it might work, but she doesn't due to how supports work and ends up as a disaster.
  20. I don't understand why anyone would post a leak about something coming in twoish days just to get attention for such a short period of time. People sure can be selfish sometimes I guess.
  21. Oh yeah that's true. I kinda forgot to even say it in my initial comment and just forgot and put something similar, but what I actually meant was, with the exception of FE3, has there ever been a game in the series where we return to another continent to finish up plot related stuff after a game in between of some other thing? I guess FE13 did that, but it barely relates to the original lore and continent.
  22. Besides FE3, have we ever revisted a continent who had a story that felt complete? (I don't count FE10 since I felt it had some obvious sequel bait moments to wrap up.)
  23. I will admit, the term otakuization is a really hard term to give a hard definition as to what I mean. I, of course, know what I'm trying to get across with its use, but I'm no English major, so I honestly don't know how to put it in a way that's understandable for people other than me. At the end of the day, I think shoving in unnecessary dating mechanics into a series where they don't belong is almost guaranteed to hurt writing, seeing how most of these cases have gone, and that marketing is important as y'all have pointed out. Side note: While I understand your point with Neptunia, that's kinda a very meme type game, so I'm not surprised in the least that it's niche.
  24. Glad to see that any comment on the deterioration of anything or criticism is instantly put as bitching. I intentionally even added on to my edit to make sure people didn't think that I was bitching just to moan and whine. It's your choice at the end of the day to view it one way or another I guess.
  25. Yeah, probably should have worded my opinion in a more skillful way. I should have said subversion of a trope doesn't mean crap if you do it horribly. AKA execution>originality, something I hope is one day in most writing 101s. Edit: Also, since we seem to keep coming back to it, is the okatuization of niche series just an inevitability at this point nowadays? FE, SMT, Trails... There's some hope to rebound of course, but I feel like niche series are losing their niche qualities to become mainstream to get more profit a lot nowadays (whether its for necessary reasons or not is up to debate). (Note: I don't mean to sound doom and gloom of course, or sound like a complainer. I like my favorite series to get more attention, but if they have to make sacrifices to some stuff, I'm not sure if that's a good thing.)
