Tharja is an obvious favorite but let's not forget that male Robin, Leo, Henry, Julia, and Linde are in the gauntlet as well.

Male Robin is both popular in the meta and in general, plus he has Smash Bros. fame.

    Henry's a popular Awakening character.

Leo is the most popular Fates male in Japan according to the JP-only Fates poll.

Julia and Linde are popular mages in the current meta.

In general Tharja is a poll winner in her own Awakening and Heroes poll both 3rd for females, own figurine, still huge fanbase etc and lets be real many are not gonna pick others because of "Meta" I like Tharja so this is fine for me since I love her dark complex character!

Leo didn't even scratch the one he previously was in and Henry unlikely as well.

  2. The waifu/husbando stuff is probably (most definitely) in the upcoming Switch game regardless of it obviously not being in the remake they aint gonna assume that's the reason if its gonna be in the next new game in the first place lets be real here. The sales won't be any better elsewhere I already estimated 450-550k total which is decent amount this game obviously wasn't meant to break or even tie with Awakening or Fates its to hold off to the glorious HD FE 16 people had waaaay too many expectations of Echoes.

At least in terms of 3DS games, Echoes isn't really facing much competition, at least in the West (Japan probably has like a bunch of exclusive games we don't know about). I mean, outside of Echoes, what else is the 3DS getting? Hey Pikmin is a thing but Pikmin is still C, maybe B-tier in terms of popularity, whereas Fire Emblem is currently A-tier. Then there's Ever Oasis, but i'm seeing next to zero interest from people in that game. Then there's the New 3DS port of FE Warriors but by then, most people will likely have a Switch. Then there's a new Monster Hunter, i think. I think it's the spin-off one. Then there's the Kriby games but those are just expanded versions of minigames featured in recent Kirby titles. And besides that, unless E3 proves otherwise, the rest of the 3DS' library this year is just eShopware. But yeah, Echoes is only gonna sell decently in the West, which isn't bad by any means. I can definitely see it being one of the higher selling 3DS games of 2017.

Oh I meant big games similar to like Splatoon 2 and stuff unless Gen 4 remakes or something else big comes on the last bit of the 3DS then at least it got that title this year. This game was just a side project till Fire Emblem 16 comes which is likely gonna be a major boom like Awakening/Fates especially to a more broader audience as usual.

Going to paste what I said in the General Fire Emblem thread on this over here.

As a TLDR; I think that first, Echoes was never going to be a best seller and IS new that. So dont take this as a loss, SoV was likely cheap to make, just look at how fast it was pumped out. Second, in a way SoV was a step back in advertising for the series. It didnt try hard enough to draw in the newer generation, and I am not talking about the people on Serenes or Reddit. I am talking about people outside of the community. It didnt try and really advertise to them. The advertisements are only seen around Nintendo sites and FE sites, and some of the advertisements have backhanded comments to the previous few games, whether they are a joke or not is regardless. It didnt try and lure any of them in. That could of easily been fixed by maybe advertising Supports a little more than they were, and maybe going more current gen with Supports rather than Tellius/GBA style which can be seen as a step back in someways. To put it simply, SoV advertising has way too niche of a target audience. Sure it appeals to us as FE fans, but where is the bones thrown to new and possible fans of the series? And I am not meaning avatars, s supports, and all of that noise, I am just meaning in general trying to gain the attention of people not familiar with the old FE style.

Yeah my thoughts exactly IS knew it wasn't gonna sell well that's why they literally said in their thoughts at the FE Direct "don't worry we're working on FE Switch we'll keep expanding and keep the stuff FE players are familiar with and more in 2018" they were a step ahead and foresaw this.

"Hmm.. remake didn't sell well. Welp, that confirms it. The series needs to have its marriage, self-insert and shoehorned children and visual novel elements we can add in to sell."

Sad to say but the more I saw the remake trying to be "faithful" to the original, the more likely it seemed it wouldn't sell very well. Hmm, maybe they can patch a New Game+ option where you can play through the game with a self-insert avatar so people can marry Celica.

Lol that's obviously ain't happening but I guess that's why FE16 Switch is being made for next year as a back up plan.

  6. Yeah this game is suffering from being the black sheep of the series, not much push as much as recent entries,  other competition with other games, missing recent popular features (don't have to explain the obvious and yeah it obviously wasn't going to be in it but sadly this had to be addressed here...), and last of games in the 3DS's lifespan i'm definitely not expecting very high sales like Awakening and Fates but decent around 500-550k I guess FE16 Switch is the crutch in case.

  7. I'm betting skill buying is gonna be the norm in newer FE games with the My Castle/Your Base since no one really complained that much about it (talking about JP btw) except more hack checks will be be involved with illegal unlearnable skills on characters to penalize hackers if they ever do online battles again. Also the Marriage system obviously is gonna stay highly received still in JP plus no reason it shouldn't.

  8. I doubt there'll be anything particularly new either in handheld mode or TV mode the only thing I can see being used is the touch screen probably for easy navigating of your units on the map like FE 11 and 12 of course Character overview Data/Stats/Weapon display will be easily toggable with a click of a button the other thing of course is Private Quarter stuff unless they revamp that mechanic to something easier and non tedious, HD Rumble can be used for a sense of urgency when units get attacked and adds more thrill to the combat animations, Co-op for a game like this is a little iffy and I'm not sure how that would really work for a game like Fire Emblem but I guess they can experiment on that if they want. Of course full on HD models, cutscenes, graphics, presentation, fluid animations are the more prominent things that will be big notable changes!

  9. Now that I've seen Echoes my thoughts change but some remain:

My Castle base system (in the actual world!)

Avatar system NO base canon class any base class you pick is YOUR canon class like Kris also a personality option

    Divine Weapons still unbreakable

    Similar Skill system to Echoes

    Skirmishes like Echoes

    World map like Echoes

    Return of Light Magic

    More Dark Magic

    Base convos like FE 9/10/12/15

    Keep Archers 1-2

    Longer consistent chapters

    Make Manakete units great again

S rank weapon levels can be achieved at any class

    Keep Reclassing

Keep children don't know how they would implement them again though
