  1. Cleared infernal after many, many tries. Using Xander, Robin, Reinhardt and Lissa.

Turn 1: Move Xander to the position where the green mage can reach him but Clarisse can't, so that he can kill the green mage in enemy's turn (He has QR2 but I'm not sure if it's useful, maybe it's useful in his special cooldown). Move Robin to the position where Clarisse can reach him. He can't ORKO Clarisse even with Triangle Adept 2 (TA3 will probably work) and Quick Reposte 2, so he must wear Quickened Pulse to initiate his special. After Turn 1, it looks like this.

Turn 2: Let Xander hit the wall, and move Robin away from the dangerous blue mage. After Turn 2, it looks like this.

Turn 3: Rein kills the red cavalier, and Xander's Blazing Light is ready so he can kill the blue mage. Robin can hit to the red guy.

Turn 4: Robin kills red guy and Xander kills the thief.

Edit: I forgot to mention Lissa. She heals.

    Nope, not biased at all.

Gamepress is like looking at this forum to determine fanbase. That's the site that lists "super cool" as one of Ike's cons, I'd hardly call it reliable.

Lissa is a free unit, so most people interested in her may have already searched for her before the gauntlet announcement. On the other hand, Priscilla is from a less popular game, so it's more likely that those just pulled her in the new banner wanted to look her up, know who she is and how good her stats will be.

However, I have to admit Lissa's artwork looks dull compared to other clerics, especially her battle expression. One more disadvantage is that as a free unit, most people got 1 or 2 star Lissas, but Priscilla's first appearance was a 5 star focus unit. So I guess those who knew neither Lissa or Priscilla may have some biased image that Lissa is a less cool unit. So I guess the scores between Lissa and competitors like Mist and Priscilla will be closer than what we first thought.

Maybe I will.  I do feel sort of bad for never using her in FE7 (I know she's useful, but Serra just had much better support quotes).

Though seriously, can anyone explain Lissa's collar-to-buttons thing, or why her clothing has a skeleton which doesn't even seem to support a dress so much as an apron?

In the book "The Making of Fire Emblem", the designers mentioned the clothing of many classes in Awakening are inspired by ocean creatures. The cleric skirt is inspired by hoop skirts, which use whale bones to expand the size. The skeleton is not completely covered and this makes it looks like a cage/basket and looks lightweight. I understand only a little Japanese and this is what I could make out. But it seems they only explained what the skirt looks like, instead of why it was designed this way.

  4. Carrot Lance+ for both Sharena and Effie.

I got four Spring!Xanders when I tried to pull Spring!Lucina. I didn't care about Xander, but the Carrot Lance is cool: when an infantry unit gets it, the lance pokes up outside its tile, and it stand out from the friend list.

Sadly, I didn't have much chance to show off my Sharena, because I have pulled too many blue units so I use Sharena very seldomly, despite she played an important role before the SI. When she's useful, her own lance is much more powerful than the carrot.

As for Effie, I didn't bother putting her in the battlefield at all. I just don't like running Armored units because they walk too slow. I thought Effie might be useful only because of the wiki tier list ranked her S+ at that time. Actually Effie will never gain enough SP to inherit Carrot Lance and Carrot Lance+.

Accepted. Any preference on leader? I have a few built up units, but for this I would recommend Robin.

Not really since i'm running a low level Lissa so I'll be matched with low level opponents. I have Lucina and Bunny Lucina (blade tome, not raven:(:) and Robin (no TA:(:). Other 5 stars are badly built.

Well, they might get bitter, and Lissa is a fairly prominent (and free!) character. Whether that's enough to defeat the cinnamon roll, I don't know.

Can I add you friend? My name is "Rosetta屯球屯羽毛" and current leader is Camus. Just sent you a request.

Well, at least their (game's) fanbase is split. Lissa does have a notable advantage of being the sole Awakening character. Will it be enough to win...eh, I don't know.

They'll finally stick together to support either Elise or Sakura in the final (probably second) round.

  8. Beat lunatic pretty easily with Narcian, two mages and either 4* Alfonse or 4* Michalis.

4* Narcian has been super useful in many PvE maps ever since after the first GHB. I don't have strong Axe users and I don't bother inheriting skills for the mediocre ones. So Narcian is the only one that can ORKO almost all lance enemies without skill inheritance.

However, Sanaki overkills Michalis. I tried several times by equipping weaker tomes and weaker triangle adept to spare some Michalis' HP for Alfonse or my Michalis.

  9. My final result: 73924 points.

    (1) All four heroes of my main team reached full Merit. My second team, including Xander and Camus whom I promoted halfway of the event, has passed 1500 Merit.

    (2) Reinhardt has learned Death Blow 3 and Moonbow from the SP he gained.

    (3) I love Masked Marth's Japanese voice. Even if I don't understand what she says, I love to touch her.

    Bye, tempest torture.

  10. I'm on the side of considering average-case natures, or approximately, neutral natures, as it's uncommon to get optimal natures. Most people have most units with "not bad" natures, such as boon/banes in HP, def and res. I guess it's them who need to refer to tier lists, instead of the hard-core players who have many nature variations of one character. If one has pulled a unit with optimal nature, he or she can just expect the unit to be slightly better than what the tier list shows.

Related, to players that are top tier: is there a significant difference in the usefulness of different colored blade mages? Where I am, green seems the best because you can run with Olivia and Ephriam or Ninian/Azura and Eirika and they can take on Reinhardt and Hector. I also find that their biggest weakness, red mages, are less common than the counters to the other mages.

In my impression, B tome breaker is more common than G tome breakers, and R tome breakers is rarely seen. Does this count?

It very well could be, but my sanaki doesnt have axe breaker, so she can’t kill the legion :(

ill try moving nino and tharja around and hope Xander can kill red mage. My Xander has swordbreaker 3 in his B slot tho (and everything else is as he comes)

My Xander could defeat the red mage in the third turn. But my Robin has Quick Reposte so the red mage may have taken more damage from my Robin than yours. :(

I beat Infernal using the exact same movement strategy, but with different units!

Tiki (young) [Lv. 40, 5*, no skill inheritance]

Klein (as he comes, but with Hone Atk 1 in C slot)

M!Robin (as he comes, but with Quick Riposte 2)

Tharja (Triange Adept 2, Axebreaker 3, Spur Res 3)

    ---

Side note... I thought Infernal gave you a 5* Legion... I only got a 4* and 2k feathers. Pretty disappointed actually......

Congrats! I was thinking about how to replace your characters... But I couldn't think of archers, because I don't have any...

Thank you for this strategy! I forgot how effective M!Robin is against colorless.

I used the same units, but with Tharja instead of Sanaki (my Tharja has Axebreaker, Sanaki does not). It got me through Lunatic extremely easily, however, I can't seem to beat Infernal :( My Nino just isn't strong enough to defeat one of the legions (she is under 50% health by the 3rd turn, so she can't double the legion, leaving him with 4HP, making me waste another hit from Xander. I'm going to keep messing around with units

Perhaps it's Sanaki's Hone Atk which increased Nino's Atk by 8 that KOed the Legion. Have you tried moving Nino and Tharja away, letting Xander kill the Red mage, and then in enemy's turn, counter the two Legions?

  13. Masked Marth is my thrid Lucina, not counting the Spring Festival one. I didn't merge my first two, since I was F2P and they are my 1st and 2nd 5-star units. I used one as attacker and the other as a healer. I'm planning to delay my skill inheritance decision to the CYL banner, then I'll consider building them as a team.

Currently, the attacker(-HP/+RES) has Reposition, Luna, Defiant Spd (sadly I don't have good A skills for her to inherit), Vantage, Hone Atk 3. She plays the role of supporting Blade mages and repositioning them. The healer(-HP/+DEF) is roughly the same, except for Ardent Sacrifice and Renewal 2. She is useful in some GHBs and Tempest Trials. I also inherited different B skills such as Swordbreaker 3 and Desperation 3 on one of them. I can't decide which B skill is better.

The -HP nature is bad for a healer, since her max HP is exactly 40. If her hp gets down to 10, she can't initiate Ardent Sacrifice. But it would be better if her HP is 43.

Followed your strategy to the letter (except replacing Nino with Linde) and managed to beat Infernal! Thanks a lot!

Glad to hear that it helps! M!Robin helped me a lot in PvE mode. Once I didn't have any non-infantry units, and he KOed two poison-dagger thieves by countering, in Ursula's map!

  15. Finally I recalled how I cleared the map in the third turn.

My team: Xander, Nino, Sanaki, M!Robin.

    Spoiler

    594748b5bf1c5__meitu_0.thumb.jpg.089a3c72f8f28ebe290bc4db848b123a.jpg

Turn 1: Let Robin break the wall to lure the archer. Nino, with buffs from Sanaki, move below Robin to lure the blue mage. The Legion on the right will target Robin, so the blue mage (blocked by Legion) won't attack Robin, but will attack Nino instead. After the enemy's turn, it looks like this:

    WechatIMG6.thumb.jpeg.048ccc1dac5d36dcd39684f8b992f597.jpeg

Turn 2: Nino kills the blue mage. Move Robin to the tile where no one but the red mage can attack him. Move Xander to the middle to block the way.  Thus the red mage will attack Robin and both Legions will attack Xander. After the enemy's turn, it looks like this:

    WechatIMG7.thumb.jpeg.475ebdf6eccaf603a0315a4e9a9045f1.jpeg

Turn 3: Sanaki kills the bottom Legion. The red mage and the two damaged Legions are easy to kill.

    ----------------

Summary: The crucial points are Robin's advantage over bows, Xander's counter attack, and Sanaki's Axebreaker.

+3 speed could be the difference between outspeeding someone to either double or survive, +3 attack the difference between netting a kill and not.

I don't know the specifics of how it's all determined, but I imagine they look at the best set of builds w/ SI and rank on that way. Point is, Lucina can be a little better due to getting a useful nature vs Masked Marth. The wiki list for instance, just separates them by a minor tier shift.

Then I assume the wiki is for whales to build optimal teams, not for the average player who pulled some random +def/-res natures and need guide on skills.
