Threaten Speed's idea wouldn't be to expect to get a double attack out of it, but mainly prevent her from getting doubled herself. Anything 34 speed and under would no longer double her after being affected by it.

Oh you know I hadn't though of the fact that when you have threaten you will bait things into your 2 space aura... I haven't used threaten much.  But you're right it would likely increase her durability even more and increase her odds of doubling or reduce the chance of her getting doubled on follow up counter attacks.

From that perspective Camilla might be a good candidate for Gronnraven, Triangle Adept, Seal attack, Seal Speed.  In which case she basically would be a bully capable of tank kiting a wide array of units in the game till they're dead.

You're right though C slots are mostly team defining unless your speed/defense/attack are high enough for some defining oneshot kill.  According to my calculations neural Camilla with Graonnraven+ and Traingle Adept is going to hit for 64 damage against blue and grey units.  Glancing at blue units combined HP and RES she's going to come very close to oneshotting many.  So with Threaten Res, she'll oneshot most blues (unless they're stacked +10).  And any she doesn't oneshot are a non threat for followup attacks.

So personally my C slot will likely be either Threaten Res (to increase her ability to further torch blues) or one of the flier buff skills.

How about that C skill, though? Threaten Speed to potentially not get doubled as often? Everything else but that or maybe Threaten Res seems kinda meh.

Ward/Hone/Fortify/Goad are the most logical if you're running other fliers.  Otherwise as you said it gets tricky.  Since she's tanky Threaten Speed is somewhat tempting.  It would very useful in normal play, and possibly useful in the arena allowing her to double some melee that go after her the next round.

Thinking about it its tricky though.  Which is why I noted Quick Riposte would be good on her.  Her speeds so low she'll frequently get doubled and be unable to return the favor.  And for some of the dragon targets and other fast melee and mages -5 speed will only be enough for her to get a single shot off back.

She might be a good candidate for -Res given her bulk.  But bulk has its limits when your speed is really bad.  Which is probably why they gave her Defiant speed (but Triangle adept is just better IMO)

I was lucky enough to get a -Spd +Atk Camilla, so I'm thinking of putting Gronnblade+ on her and supporting her with flier buffs, because a flying mage that can one-shot anything would be hilarious.

...Of course, I'd need Hinoka for that, at least. Preferably Caeda too. Fortunately they're both coming up in banners and I have a bunch of orbs left over... unfortunately, they share their color with others I don't want. So we'll see how that goes, I guess. If I can't get them, maybe I'll take the Gronnraven path too.

I don't have Hinoka or Caeda too... so no +6 buffs non the less I want to do the same!  I have Cordelia+Attack -Def, Minerva+Def -Spd, and Palla+Att -Res.... two strong rolls and one sad Minerva (though she is one chunky monkey with that roll).  So a decent Camilla is making me drool.  Especially with reposition/draw back on Palla!

While it won't negate the flier penalty entirely, it should drop it down to much more acceptable levels (if my math is right).

Thanks for the thoughts Eclipse!  No I think your math is roughly right.  From what I'm looking at

    DmgCalc 4a max-Atk-Eff-Adv-Mit.png

So if Camilla def 30 were facing Takumi attack 50 you would probably either want:
    Gronnraven and Triangle Adept which gives you : (75)+ (-30) = 45 damage - 30 defense = 15 damage a hit from Takumi

      or

    Gronnraven and Iote's Shield which gives you :  (50)+ (-10) = 40 damage - 30 defense = 10 damage a hit from Takumi

So you could easily survive two hits from Takumi or other archers with either skill set.  So I think you're right Gronnraven and Triangle adept would be better coverage.

    - Camilla: She came first in the alphabet anyway.  Gronnraven+ and Triangle Adept means that she takes a lot less arrow damage than any flier should, and it makes her really hurt against blues.  I have +Def, which is gonna be hilarious (suck it, Kagero).

Oohhhhh I really like this idea!  I did NOT realize Gronnraven was weapon advantage vs. colorless foes (I thought it was just effective against colorless like Gronnwol).  Does this entirely remove the flier penalty?  My brain is rolling this around and it seams super weird.  Even if an archer still applies their effective penalty, they would suffer a double triangle penalty (which is really severe).  She would double shot any colorless.  But her low speed means she's rarely going to get to double shot.  Even with say darting blow she's only going to clock in at 35 speed.

Oh you could go with Gronnraven+ Triangle Adept and Quick Riposte.  That is what I would do on Camilla.  Then she would should be able to counter kill  blue and archers even if they match her speed or outspeed her.

Her crappy speed makes her tricky on the offensive.

  5. I really really want Camilla since she's the only ranged flier right now.  I'm ramping up my all flying team, and she seems must have so I'll have some magic/ranged.

So far I've gotten two Chroms... one neutral and one +Att -Spd.  I'm not sure which to go with.  Neutral seems smarter, but his attack is crazy and +Attack / Vantage seems fun.

  6. Very nice set of updates.  Thanks for posting these along with their translations!  I must say I'm very excited for all of these features.  For a game I play a lot, I'm very surprised to be getting such wonderful support.  Hopefully they do implement some better monthly sales packages for those of us that want to support but want something a bit more concrete for our hard earned monies!

Don't be afraid to try out new/weird stuff.  I just pulled a 4* +Spd/-Atk Roy - on paper, this combo looks strange, bordering on awful.  However, it's not as bad as it seems - this brings him pretty close to neutral Eirika, stat-wise.  Thus, I'll either make him an off-tank (someone who is very hard to ORKO), or use him as if I was using Eir, sans Sieglinde.

The best thing about Heroes is that leveling characters is the cheapest thing you can do, and there's no wrong way to gain levels.  Have fun, and good luck~!

I concur.  Initially I panicked hard at my +Spd/-Atk FCorrin who comes in with a terrible 37 atk (with weapon!)  But with a natural 37 Spd, 34 Def and an open A slot, she's proving to be a serious problem on offense and defense

Some others though like my poor -Spd +Res Ninian are making me cry... Her motto is don't battle... ever.  The number of matchups she can win are so thin its not funny.  I'm 99% certain now That she needs sword breaker and if I want her to combat anything.

    Crazy dragon ladies /sigh.

  8. Reinhardt at 5 star is stupid useful and destructive.  He's not dependent on +Attack or +Speed to be strong either.    I'm actually starting to wonder if I should run Reinhardt + Adult Tiki + Hector as my primary team.  This gives me ridiculous coverage and would deal with Ninos.

Reinhardt with a dance or draw back on your team makes him much more useful as well.

  9. It depends on the situation... But mostly it depends if you're sporting a brave/dire or charge weapon.  Most of the time shorter charge times between 2-3 are optimal.  None the less there are a few brave/dire characters who can easily make full use out of 4-5 charge skills.

Some good examples of useful 4-5 charge skills:
Cordelia with Bravelance will kill red targets with a single double swipe (and a number of blue units).  But since she has Triangle adept you can use Cordelia to bait reds and tank a hit.  She'll kill them if she outspeeds them but otherwise she'll have to follow up.  But by getting two kills and taking one hit she will charge Galewind allowing for one more kill or running away.

Reinhardt has this same capability as a Dire Thunder user.  Allowing him to frequently charge up blazing Thunder.  Rather humorously Reinhardt can actually go against the triangle and one turn Hector with Blazing thunder + Dire thunder's x2.

Klein with his Brave bow and 33 neutral speed is capable of quad hitting tanks and slow melee and hitting with Glacies (4 charge time) within one round.  This makes +Speed Klein rather terrifying and capable of killing a wide array of heroes in one round including Hector.

A tank with Quick Riposte works, too. Eat two attacks on enemy phase, and as long as you don't one-hit kill both of them, you'll have the skill fully charged.

Eldigan with Mystletainn means you don't even need Quick Riposte. As long as you can counterattack, two enemies attacking you will fully charge his Growing Light.

Very interesting and good point.  I hadn't considered this.. but it could be very useful if you run a dancer with a chunky tank.  You could anticipate getting to use Blazing X each fight potentially.

  11. Something two interesting things in the arena today related to the AE skills.  I'm actually able to one turn Hector with Reinhardt when his AE Blazing Thunder is charged (since it ignores everything).  So if you can double two people and bait one hit with a brave user you can actually kill a counter color (which is pretty nasty).

Likewise I noticed that if you have a high speed brave like Klein or Olwen.  You can quad hit slower units.  If you do this on a ranged and eat a hit in the process, then your blazing will be available the next turn.  Likewise if you do this and eat one hit... if you have a (4 turn) skill it will activate on the last hit... sexy!

Effie with a Brave Lance. She'd be supported by Hector's Goad Armor.

It made sense to me, because you'd always want to initiate the attack (because of Death blow) and a Brave Lance would be best fit for that. (I'd sacrifice my 5* Cordelia. My Effie is 4* and.... Would she keep the Brave Lance+ even when upgrading her to 5*?). Also, Wary Fighter would help her greatly, because she'd get doubled by literally everything that's not Sophia :D (Which also makes the -5 speed of the lance neglectable).

Im missing a C skill and a... Purple skill (missing the name). Would Galeforce be viable to take over as well

The primary problem you'll be fighting against will be mobility.  With this said Brave Lance+ is a smart weapon change on her, and would result in almost certain death when you counter attack the next player turn.  If you had someone to dance her forward she could be really scary like this.  Especially paired with Threaten Defense, allowing you to tear into them with your brave lance excessively.  Threaten Offense would be good against vantage opponents and may be the safer option.

With this said if you're also running Hector and Effie I would consider the +4 resistance buff, as Hector can take some hard hits counter killing magic users.

I got like 3 4* and 2 5* Nowi(s) just trying to get my first Ninian. It really depends on your luck, but there aren't many blues in the game, so if you do controlled pulling your odds for a lower rarity Nowi aren't that bad. At the very least, you're more likely to get a Nowi now, than you would be to get a Ninian later on a Nowi banner.

Yeah I'm super sad I haven't seen a single Nowi... I have like 5 Corrins though... and she's rocking socks off at least ;-)

    UGGGGGGG...

I just got Ninian.. -Spd + Res.... pretty much the worst boon/ban I could have asked for.  I think I'm going to have to put sword breaker on her to be useable.

  14. I feel like Oboro could be incredible with a few adjustments.

With an A-slot Defiant defense and a C-slot swap to Threaten attack she could potentially shut down and face tank all red and blue physical attackers, reguardless of speed.  Her problem comes in how to deal with magic damage from a distance or dragons.

Alternatively if you can deal with blues very well this would make something like Triangle Adept better, with your C slot being left to whatever you think might work best to assist the rest of your team.

  15. I've blown over 100 orbs and still haven't seen Ninian... I'm a sad panda.  They were all free and saved up.  But I'm still POed.  If you have a 5% chance of pulling her then you're then assuming 5 orbs a pop you could roughly expect one Ninian every 100 orbs.  None the less you could go 20 blue pulls not see her... and then rng could hate you and you might not see her for yet another 20 pulls.    So I feel your pain o/

  16. As others mentioned + or - attack almost never changes the outcome of a hector encounter because his attack is so high to begin with.  There are a few melee red matchups where  the extra attack can make a difference but they're extremely situational and just generally shouldn't be occurring in the arena.  Though arguments could be made for +Att, vantage Hector being very Juicy.

As folks mentioned + spd can change a few encounters with doubling.

Personally I think + def, + res or +hp are probably some of the strongest options on Hector.  Each can cause you to survive or win unfavorable fights or come out of favorable fights more cleanly.  This is especially true if you go with a renewal/sol/noontime build where hector could last rather long in the arena taking hits and healing up.

Fury seem a little overkill. Death blow all the way. He goes from crazy to psychotic with death blow.

Reinhardt  seems like a super candidate for Death blow.  You could also go with Triangle Adept on  Reinhardt  though.  In which case he'll be able to bait tank reds due to his rather healthy def/resist.  He'll get doubled by them all but he'll be able to take one or two sets of hits from reds.  Deathblow will improve his odds of tearing down blues (and doing some damage to Greens.

  18. I find it interesting that they're coughing up so many orbs up front without a reasonable concrete monthly or weekly package.  Its kind of odd because for those of us who spend "moderatle" they're effectively giving away more orbs than I would spend on such a game (due to their pricing).  Its kind of wonky... I can't complain entirely because I'm functioning well totally free to play.  But it makes spending money on the game feel really wasteful unless you're oozing surplus entertainment cash.   It frustrates me some because I want to support the game but not their sales model.

I totally concur on SP... that looks to be a pain-point now ;-/
