You have a good point; Echoes is also being localized by the same team that decided Tharja's Beach Scramble CG was too scandalous, so when you take that plus Nintendo's track record into account it seems pretty likely the age requirement will be changed.

Part of me is hoping the English version gets leaked early too so I can find out the changes early lol

It depends on the country; some European countries have a drinking age of 18, others 16, some don't even have drinking ages at all. Australia's is 18.

Quick question about weapons in this game: to my understanding, spells are learned by magic classes without needing to have an actual item, whereas physical weapons like swords aren't learned and have to be equipped. Is this correct?

I've played through Conquest four times, and each time I did what you did for Birthright, i.e. maxing a character's base class before promoting them. It depends on your playstyle IMO; whenever I play any Fire Emblem I usually have just a small pool of characters that I use so they get all the EXP they need anyways.
