I still take offense to you insulting Camilla, who is one of my favourite characters, just like you took offense to me saying that Ike has a bad design, so, y'know.

You're being a bit of a hypocrite for bringing up Camilla, please stop, as Camilla has a really nice design <3 Another unpopular opinion is that Ike has a god awful design, especially in RD.

...I can't stand Ike or Cordelia. Their fans, their characters, what they say...ugh. I despise Soren. Shadow Dragon doesn't deserve the hate it gets. Marth is the best Lord, with Roy being the second best. In fact, it makes sense that Roy is a bad unit as he prefers brains over brawns, as shown through his strategies in Binding Blade and what he says in Heroes (he is also my baby so leave him alone) Micaiah is a lovely character, questionable at times, but still lovely. Tobin is the best villager. The Ram Kids are precious and need to be protected. Robin is the best avatar and their relationship with Chrom no matter the gender is A++ Eliwood is much better character-wise and gameplay-wise than Hector and Lyn. Xane needs more love. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE does not deserve that hate it gets and is actually a fantastic game with great characters such as Touma and Eleonora. The Archanean characters are fantastic, but are in desperate need of the Echoes treatment. Leo is better than Takumi, who is a bad character. Camilla and Charlotte are amongst my favourite characters in Fates. Virion is absolutely perfect. The Black Knight was an awful villain. Sothe is amazing. Celica was perfectly justified in Act 4 Faye isn't all that bad. People need to chill about Warriors. People need to chill about other people's opinions.

As a sucker for a good orchestra, Shadows of Valentia wins this for me. I remember listening to the pre-release clips of a couple of tracks and I was like, god damn, I'm getting the special edition just for the CD. Other tracks I like are: - Lost in Thoughts All Alone: Big fan, though I do like The Heritors of Arcadia more. - Don't Speak Her Name: Very fitting song for the chapter it plays in. - Id (Purpose): Robin's personal theme which fits him very nicely. - Life Returns: Oh goodness me, I love the herons, I love songs with vocals in video games, good god this is a masterpiece. - Together We Ride: Absolute beauty. - All versions of the Fire Emblem theme. - If they count...all the songs from Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE

I can understand why you like him, I liked him in PoR before everything came out in RD, but...it all comes down to personal preference, and I respect that. Another reason why I have a problem with him is because of what he is, and I have this problem with Rafiel, too. They were supposed to be wiped out with only one survivor, yet they keep popping up. A minor problem, but it bugs me. He does get 10/10 for his design though.

Favourite - Echoes: - Improve hit rates. - More supports. - Be allowed to have both Deen and Sonya in the same file. - Go back to Awakening/Fates style cutscenes. Least favourite - Fates: - Remove Corrin. - Let Azura and Camilla support. - Remove Anankos or something and give us more backstory on Garon, as well as the Concubine Wars. - Get rid of the possessed!Takumi. - Get rid of the kids and give us more interactions between the siblings. Nohr family, Hoshido family, Felicia and Flora, Saizo and Kaze, etc. - And a whole bunch of other stuff.

I don't like the Black Knight. I found his reason for killing Greil was weak, and then in RD, I just didn't really feel any sympathy for him. Does his master(to avoid spoilers), count as a villain? If he does, then the same goes for him.

There are two parts that make a bad character: gameplay and character. A character may be awful stat wise, not being able to hit anything, being very fragile, etc, but they may have a very fleshed out backstory, personality, etc. If they fail at both, then that is a bad character. Of course it comes down to opinions. One person may take joy in using a character who dies in one hit, but still love them due to their character, and vice versa for someone else. Personally, I feel like the fans factor in to this as well. Very vocal and extreme fans often tarnish a character for me, unfortunately, and this causes me to look at the character's flaws more and be like...well you weren't as great as I remember you being... This is why I find Ike and Cordelia to be bad characters.

Really? I suppose I need to go back and watch a playthrough of PoR again, it's been a while... The thing I like about topics like this is that you can always state one thing then be like, "but why didn't this..." There's really no solid answer... Either way, Greil still strikes me as a guy who used corporal punishment, and I see no reason why Ike, or other lords for that matter(Eliwood, Hector, possibly Chrom) wouldn't either, as Fire Emblem is set in medieval times. What may not be classed as acceptable in our world, would probably be deemed acceptable there.

Yeah, practice weapons. Greil must've used some force to knock him unconscious with a practice weapon. Kinda the same thing really. Tbh, Greil didn't need to knock him out, but he did. Father of the year folks!

If we're on the topic of corporal punishment, then yeah, I definitely see Ike doing that. We have seen a parent hitting their child in Fire Emblem, back in the OVA, Cornelius slaps Marth, if I recall correctly. I don't think it's hard to imagine Ike doing the same, just probably not for the same reason Cornelius did. Like others have said, Fire Emblem is essentially set in medieval times, I'd wager punishments were worse than spankings, and Greil seems like a father who doesn't take shit from his son, his daughter, maybe, but not his son. Ike would probably take a few pages from Greil, tbh.

I'm supporting Maria, heck, I'll even train up my three-star Michalis just for her, the absolute cutest character in the series. If she loses, I'll switch to Elise, best royal sister in Fates.

I can't see Ike marrying and having kids, this is the guy who just upped and left his friends and sister at the end of RD... However, I can't see him being a bad father if he did. Distant and 'tough-loving', but willing to show affection if the kid is upset or whatever. In terms of husbandry...idk, he's too distant, too cold, definitely not husband material. Ranulf's hubby though? Hell yes!

Will you include pairings? If it were me, I'd stay clear of them unless they're canon like Marth x Caeda or Alm x Celica, but this is entirely up to you. I recommend cutting the characters and focusing on a handful, as Fire Emblem has so many. Good luck!

Yeah, I remember hearing that. I've never played the original Gaiden, so everything I know comes from Echoes.

FE 7 - I always put Eliwood on the frontlines, even if he's stuck at level 20 until he promotes. I also use Erk until endgame. That one healer guy you get really late...Renaud? He saved my rear countless times. FE 13 - Stahl with a bronze sword even at endgame. Virion, Virion!Owain and Tiki. FE 14 - Rinkah in both Birthright and Revelations, Odin in Revelations alongside Laslow, Peri and Niles. FE 15 - People say that Tobin is the worst villager, but I'm not seeing it. Bow Knight Tobin is one of my best units, if not the best.

Gosh there are so many... Ike - More his fans than anything, but ugh...he really grinds my gears. Cordelia - More her fans than anything, also that she never gets over Chrom in a majority of her supports. This is reflected in her item quotes, etc. Obviously, they're generic and all but IS could've tried... Corrin - Oh good god, I can't stand Corrin. A lot of people have covered this...this...ugh, so yeah. Takumi - I just can't stand him, especially in Conquest. The whole possession things just seems...pointless. Hana - Heroes related. Hinata - Heroes related. Nyx - Never used her after I saw one of her supports. ONE. All of the child units in Fates apart from Midori. Male Kana in particular... Soren - I just really don't like him. Effie - I find her rather lack-lustre. Kris - Completely ruined New Mystery for me, took the spotlight away from Marth and Jagen. Katarina - It's a no from me.

My all time favourite character is Marth. Always has been, and always will be. I have no idea why I like him, I just find him extremely interesting, despite the little characterisation he gets. I will defend him though, as I've had past experiences where...well, it wasn't fun. Other favourites include Robin, Tobin, Gray, Xane, Roy, Eliwood, Kaze, the Nohr siblings, Rhys, Sain, Caeda, Tiki, Ninian and Sanaki. Micaiah is also growing on me for some reason...
