  1. Despite considering myself a big FE fan for years, I hadn't played any of the games besides 7 and 8 until after Heroes came out. With my interest in the series reignited, I have since played 4 through 13, and beaten almost all of them. Despite considering myself "hardcore" and a "veteran," when games gave me grinding options (arenas, skirmishes, Tower of Valni, etc), I would use them almost always on my first playthrough, and quite a few times after that. Also, while I do consider myself above shipping and waifu stuff nowadays, in the past I would always pair up characters that have endings together, just because. I also really like armored classes (except in FE4. Couldn't help but give in to the Horse Emblem). What's wrong with the name Dingus?
  2. Funny how Ike never says "I fight for my friends" in a Fire Emblem game. Also funny how the Japanese version of that quote is more like "I fight for what I must protect." Much closer to his actual character.
  3. While it has been mentioned before with the whole "evil dragon" cliche, I am going to expand on that. I can't stand the "evil guy in power seeks more power (or has some other reason, usually involving an evil god), so they start a war. It turns out this guy was actually the pawn of a greater evil. The former is the penultimate boss, the latter is the final boss." Fire Emblem stories in a nutshell. Also, anything to do with the power of friendship.
  4. My unpopular opinions (or, what I think are unpopular. I'm not too sure about some of them, just basing the unpopularity off of a few things I've heard): I like armored units (well, except in FE4, for obvious reasons). I don't like most mages. Occasionally, I'll find ones that I like, but regular mages I have a hard time finding a use for. Mounted mages are fine, though. This is probably one of the reasons why I can't stand desert maps... I don't like transformation characters (laguz, manaketes, beasts, etc.). I have never been fond of the "human with animal features" design. While I do think Ike was a decent character and a great unit, I thought he was very bland for a large portion of POR. I hate reclassing. In my opinion, is causes some characters that I would have otherwise used to just be benched, in favor of the characters that are just better. Also, in games with little character development, I think it makes the characters lose any personality that they might have had from their class. I like the story of FE6. Not sure exactly why (although I think most agree that the villains were great). I prefer the Light Dark Anima triangle to the Wind Thunder Fire triangle, and I especially dislike the games where magic users can use all three parts of the anima triangle. Again, similar to reclassing, this means that a number of characters will just get benched in favor of others. However, whatever happens, I do prefer there to be a magic triangle. Anyway, thats all I can think of.
  5. Comparing his artwork to my catalog of heroes, he looks similar in style to either Yura or Ueda Yumehito's styles. Not sure which, because Yura has a very distinctive way of drawing noses (look at Clarisse, Navarre, Niles...) which are not the same style as Valter's nose. Ueda Yumehito, on the other hand, had shading that looked very similar, but the borders and hair styles are off. Leaning towards Yura, because Subaki is evidence that not all of their art has the same nose, and the hair and armor look similar enough. Of course, it could be a different artist (my catalog is nowhere near exhaustive) or a new one entirely. As far as him as a unit, super excited. Just hope he has a decent voice.
  6. After defeating the final boss and reading through all that the characters have to say, the screen fades to black... and stays black. The music continues, but I am unable to finish the game. I don't think a screencap is necessary. Also, any idea what is causing the reduced stats bug? It happened again at the start of the penultimate level.
  7. I don't think this was intentional... but now the character stat pages are showing me the growth rates. Yeah, it even shows the boosts from Metis' Tome And now there are no enemies. EDIT: Also, the Rausten Bishop in that level who has fortify and physic still has a bugged AI, where he will target max hp units. The same situation happened as described above (humorously enough, it happened to Lute again). He is also somehow able to use fortify when no units are injured, which I did not notice until all the enemies were removed. This doesn't bug the game though, only physic does.
  8. Apparently, Mauthe Dogs can use ballistae. As can Colm. Yeah, turns out everyone in range of a ballista gets the range shown for it, even though I confirmed that they can't actually use the ballista. Also, I think crit rates are messed up. I've noticed that Ross as a Berserker is having really low crit rates with anything that isn't a killer axe. Unless enemies have had their crit avoid boosted while still having terrible luck, then this is a bug. (EDIT: Have determined that this is due to silver weapons having "--" crit instead of having "0" crit) EDIT: And upon starting Last Hope, my characters, again, have really stupid stat decreases. Some of the more egregious examples: EDIT2: Even worse, the stat drops appear to be based upon where the unit is in my pick order. For instance, if Forde is currently the 8th unit picked, and I then change Ross to 8th unit picked, Ross will have -18 str and skill. EDIT3: Lute, due to having her max hp reduced, was targeted by a physic holding green bishop. Her hp is now constantly going up. It has yet to stop.
  9. This is a cool idea, and so far it is well executed. I do have a few questions though: what skill do soldiers get, and what do they promote into? What skill do lance knights get? My Amelia is 10, and I now have quite a conundrum. Also, what are the bronze weapons supposed to do? They were not effective against monsters, as far as I could tell. Note that I haven't played Fates, so I don't know in what ways that affected this patch. As far as bugs... on uh... Gheb's map, Tana was unable to use the short spear Amelia comes with despite having the weapon level for it. Is this intentional? I will admit I didn't test on other levels or with other characters. (EDIT: I have realized that this along with the other weapons the trainees come with are preferred. Is there no way to change their weapon rank?) The game will occasionally get covered in artifacts and bug out, which just requires a restart. I am uncertain what causes this. Next time it occurs I will get a screencap. I assume that not being able to go to the Tower of Valni is intentional. Lol. EDIT: Other bugs found: 1. Alacalibur cuts off the music. 2. In Flourspar's Oath, a number of cavaliers were changed to Lance Knights, and are thus unable to use the swords that they have. Said swords are the only weapons they carry. EDIT2: Upon starting River of Regrets, many of my characters had their stats reduced by a huge amount. I had to play through the level with these reduced stats, and it wasn't until I finished the level and exited the game that my stats went back to normal. The next level, Two Faces of Evil, is incredibly bugged. I am unable to even start the level. As soon as I leave preparations, the screen zooms to a place on the level, and then gets stuck there, the preparations music continues to play, and the game is entirely unresponsive. Here is a screencap:
  10. I really like this idea. Here are my thoughts. I think the most useful changes would be the weird weapons you mentioned. I don't care about the poison effect, my main problem is the eclipse effect. If something happens similar to my FE7 that has given me 6 archers in a game where the iron bow can't kill, I get angry. To a lesser extent, the devil effect is also annoying, but it at least adds to the humor of the randomizer. Another thought is making so that, when movement is randomized, promoted classes always have equal or greater movement than their unpromoted counterparts.
  11. It seems that all links to Nintenlord's Tiled map inserter are down.
