  1. So, what your thoughts on having a game where no character have a class and they instead just use a specific weapon like in Heroes, except that they might have access to a second weapon or a new movement type upon promotion? I think it might open a more diverse set of characters. An archer would not have promote specifically to another class of just two options. Instead, he could become someone that wield a bow and lance, a bow and axe, or even just gain a mount and the bow itself. Meanwhile, his archer buddy might just promote to a unit with an entirely different set of weapon accessibility. Character identity would  not be effected by this process either. I honestly think that the lack of classes would improve it.

Here we have one sword fighter from a noble house; equipped with a skill that allows him to use rapiers and the legendary weapon and there, we have the gruff, buff warrior who is also a sword wielder. This guy would be wearing chains, rags, and large gauntlets to make him seem like a threat to his enemies. Hell, with the lack of classes, we could probably even have extremely tall allies and enemies. No one is bounded to the weapons their classes allowed them and their actual roles compared to what they do can be taken more seriously. (Actual knights for example that could use swords and lances and is not found wondering with a group of bandits for whatever reason. )

We could have mounted knights and lance wielding samurais. I personally could stop questioning the reason Lords have this specific class that no one else in the game have access to despite obviously being lords in other parts of the world.

In terms of modelling and clothing, Intelligent Systems have a crap ton of funding and tech because of the success of FE Heroes and it's previous main stream FE games, I don't think it would be too much of a hassle for them to make a specific set clothing for each character. Hell, they can get away with people having similar clothing because of uniform standards and even keep the same general move set for the majority of the cast. (Although, I only guessed that Intelligent Systems had massive success. I'm doing a fact check at this movement. XD)

  2. I don't want an army with an over abundance of pretty boys. I appreciate having an army of people who looks nice, but I REALLY want to have a horsed face ally with a cool, spiky mustache at one point or another or maybe a character that would resemble someone like Don Quixote.

Having facial structures other than the standard perfect faced anime dude will make the overall world seem a little more realistic and would be a lot more appreciated by yours truly.

Also, I would love it if they would remove the boob armor.

  3. @CyberController And don't forget, they hit obnoxiously hard for classes that are just supposed to debuff your units. Ugh, even thinking of that chapter gives me a sour emotion. I'd rather do chapter ten multiple times than whatever that chapter was.

Chapter 3 of Fire Emblem 8.

There is just so much standing around your units will do and you try to stuff everyone through those tight gaps and generally leave some of the ally units to do nothing. I think it would have been more fun if it was a bit more open and reinforcements spawned by the entrance, preferably cavilers.

  4. I was just playing the most recently released story maps with Azama on my team. Usually I stay away from healers that buff the stats of the team with their specials because I usually appreciate healers who are specifically good at healing massive amounts of damage. However, I just decided to bring him along since I don't really use him that often and I got to say, he and other healers like him are better than I gave them credit for.

I would always wonder why I would use a healer with DEF if I'm just going to keep him in the back lines anyways, but I then I saw how Azama can just tank a crap ton of hits, build up his special cool down, and buff the entire team with Earth-Balm healing special. It turned out to be a fantastic strategy to keep him on the front lines! His Reconcile can restore the little damage he does take and pain still allow him to inflict damage upon others even with his weak attack power. (I am still personally against the existence of the pain staff) It was during that battle I noticed that Azama is generally a well build character that does the job of def buffing and tanking rather than healing, but just because I saw that he carries a staff, I did not even consider using him in that matter until now.

Have you guys noticed any other strange stat and weapon combination that does another job better than the one you would think that any other person wielding it would be able to do proficiently?

  5. Assuming that the siblings are included, that's already eight slots taken. I wouldn't be that shocked honestly.

But are you sure about that dragon stone statement? Corrin has dragonstone abilities within her innate sword moveset and I honestly don't see how they can make floating dragons possess decent movesets and combos unless they just spam fireballs

  6. What about Rinkah and Gunter? They seem pretty close to the main story for a bit. I'm not too enthusiastic about the idea of Gunter since I'm practically convinced  that he will be another Frederick, but a pyromancer axe weilder could really spice things up in variety. (Pun not intended)

Any news on knife users and beast stones?

  7. I guess around 35 characters is not all that bad. I'm still looking for that awesome key gimmick to separate this game from the other warrior games. I guess the support system is okay. There's also command over allies. I'm crossing my fingers for general control over the grunts and lesser officers as well.

Also, online play? Were there any plans for that?

  8. Fire Emblem X Civilization

Now before I started watching Mang’s playthrough of this mod that makes civilization into a game with fire emblem characters, I saw the name pop up a few times from this programming dude I watched javascript tutorials from. I got pretty bored with the game pretty fast.

But after seeing Mangs, I looked into the game a little more and find some fun out of it. I saw a whole series of ai only battles that were semi interesting. What I enjoy about the game is how everything happens outside a single city. One would HAVE to go out and explore for some resources to come back and add to the town (or make a new one). The player have to be careful with his actions and interactions with the other kingdoms or things will go south.

Fire emblem would fit well into this format. It's simple strategic combat could fit perfectly with the slightly more complex goals of growing an empire. Fire emblem has the character development, interesting settings, and a fantasy genre that could mix well with civilization’s  world development ability. Your character could lead a band into the unknown to fight bandits, warriors, undead, and more or send generals or minions to do so for him while he handles more important tasks.Building assets will be essential for progressing and promotions into swordmasters, heroes, and more would be the table changer to whomever your character would be warring against  Instead of the tiny one- two hit in civilization, interactions between  two opposing armies will trigger the trademark FE battle with  a map that changes depending on the tile a band attacks on and sieges on castles or forts would generate a map of epic scales.

Important characters would be the commanding officers of whatever unit you send to handle something. If course, you could skip the battles if they are not important. Special quests that could be located anywhere in the world, even in enemy territory, could unlock awesome weapons and resources or could recruit some fantastic additions to your kingdom.

Something like that would be awesome to me: starting off as a lesser Lord or who defeats, assists, or unite foreign kingdoms so he could then take down the big baddie. Hell, even the idea of leading a massive army against an equally huge force so the main character could strike down the villain with his sacred sword sounds cool.

That is the one thing that would slightly bug me in fire emblem: despite it being hinted at times, we could never actually take control of an actual army.
