Are you running Svalinn Shield on Henriette? My Henriette has no trouble dealing with Legendary Chrom when she has Svalinn Shield equipped, so I can't imagine it being too difficult to tank Duo Chrom, who lacks weapon triangle advantage. Granted, my Henriette is almost completely maxed out including supports (and is only missing a floret), but the difference can be made up for with more Distant Guard stacks, as I only run two stacks because I'm lazy (and because I'm running three Mythic Heroes on my team, and most of their exclusive skills are already in the C slot).

My Henriette is not optimal enough to run Svalinn Shield (I think). At unmerge +res -hp she sometimes has trouble tanking with Flayn support, especially against Duo Lif that go 1st and blocks healing.

I have not seen him yet, but according to the calculator, as long as you can stop Deadeye from being charged right from the get go, Fjorm: Ice Ascendent should have no trouble tanking effective damage and counter killing. That is easier said than done on Light Season though, since Light does not have Elimine. The only thing I can thnk of for Light is to maybe run Mila to Isolate Chrom: Fate-Defying Duo and hope his teammates does not Pulse him with other means.

Yeah currently is light season and I don't have Mila or Bride Fjorm. Even if I do, Bride Catria with Duo Chrom is still a scary thought to face. B!Catria + Duo Chrom + Far Save B!Hector would be quite devastating for me to tank or initiate.

  2. Have any of you dealt with Duo Chrom in AR yet. Neither of my save tank (Fjorm and Henriette) can deal with him, and I don't have blue unit that can potentially tank him (that I know of, don't have B!Hector too). So far I met him twice, lost once cuz I couldn't predict To Change Fate, 2nd time the team has no save armor or B!Catria so it's a cakewalk with my Yuri+dancers team.

  3. At least I won't feel bad for not voting L!Claude since he lost by a thousand votes.

Unit wise, I want Byleth and Thorr, although my Anima team is getting stacked since I got Elimine and V!Lucina, but I like her design and might wanna finally build a successful galeforce team.

Fodder wise, this is really not a good lineup. The only two cav/flier mage I use frequently are Gunnthra and Hapi, former has omni chill B skill, Hapi comes with her own far trace. And then there is Time Pulse which is too valuable and only gonna make me hoard until I have at least 5 of them.

I see. That's surprising; Mega Man classic had an anime, Battle Network had an anime, even Star Force had an anime; I'm surprised that X didn't.

What makes Path of Radiance better than Fates (apart from better gameplay) is a coherent narrative with actual worldbuilding and compelling characters. Path of Radiance would be by far the most straightforward to adapt into an anime; no need to canonize pairings, avatar units, or specific routes, and it's actually a good story with the script right there for adapting.

    What's wrong with Ike?

    Tellius story spoiler

    Spoiler

I think because I played PoR and RD back to back. I already dislike him from the very beginning of PoR, so him being the spotlight, not to mention he is the only one who can kill the boss goddess. Almost every time he appears on screen in RD it makes me dislike him as a character even more. I feel like he is similar to Captain American, the self-righteous kind who can excuse his own terrible behavior but not for other against him or his associate.

Compare that to Fates which is just mild and inoffensive. Before FEH, half the setting in Tellius is just fluff and exposition, so why does that matter if they have "extensive" lore if it's just gonna be mentioned once or twice, or that I need to remember some throwaway lines mentioned 5 chapters ago for it to make sense, but of course now Altina went from background extra to having a mythic form and christmas alt, otherwise I don't even remember the legends exists. I don't even know why identity of the black knight is a bid deal. Zelgius only appeared for like one scene in RD, how is it a plot twist? And I gotta read wikia to find out about the whole half-brand thing and there is actually a bunch of them, talk about unnecessary and convoluted.

good writing and the fact that they at least cared to give a name to the continents FE4's and 9's stories take place

You can change the continent's name to ABC and the whole plot would still be carried out as usual.

Here is the trail of sky animated movie that introduced me to the series.

  5. Digimon Cybersleuth and Hacker memories should be adapted instead of the new one. There is already a comic based on it, and the setting is more interesting/coherent with older Digimon anime/games.

I am psyched and also not looking forward to watching the Mass Effect because there is no way they would make a Male Shepard/Kaidan romance.

As for FE my top 3 are New Mystery, Fates, and Awakening. None of which is good for adaptation since it will canonize pairing and gender of avatars. FE4 and Tellius were praised by most of the fanbase but personally I don't see what makes them better than Fates, and I definitely would hate Ike even more if he become more popular, since he is the typical stoic anime MC.

Just picked up Octopath Traveler recently again, and I think it has Netflix potential. Each character can just have their 4 chapters as one episode, and then make the hidden ending as the finale.

I like Netflix Castlevania a lot, even though I have never played any of the game in the franchise. Arcane and Witcher, on the other hand, I just don't see the appeal or the hype, not that I played Dota or finished the Witcher trilogy.

  6. The combat feels good and sort of dynamic. It has one of the most casual-friendly feature, you can actually retreat at any point and still retain your exp/levels that you gained during the battle. In chapter 3 I got gang-up and lost most of my units, I wanted to see if I can load earlier save and found the retreat option, it takes you back to battle preparation page.

But the story is really long and exposition/filler-ish. I tried to read them all but after chapter 2 I gave up and just skipped ahead. And the fact that mine is English voiceover with Chinese words doesn't help since I keep noticing the differences in translation (it is annoying and sometimes confusing). Might try to see if I can change it in the setting.

Requiring item to promote your unit has always been a terrifying feature for a hoarder like me, like how would I know I use it on the right unit 1st without doing 30 minutes research on the internet. It happened in 3 Houses and it will likely happen here again if I do get the game.

  7. I am really excited for this game! The only thing that will stop me from buying this game completely is if more than half of the roster is missing. I sure hope NPCs like Gatekeeper and Judith, and DLC Ashen Wolf characters will be playable.

I don't see a golden route in the main 3H game because it would be hard to incorporate into the maps and battle, but a Warrior game can just be explained away in cutscenes and filler battles just to explain the plot (Koei likes to do that). Since Edelgard is wielding a different axe here, she was probably the "variation" that was changed by the plot shenanigans (time travel probably), since she was a major villain in most of the routes (and frankly her own route too but that's just my opinion). My guess is she was prevented from creating her alternative identity entirely. Not sure how, maybe going all the way back to her past to prevent her tragic backstory from happening so her belief and hatred for the crests would cease to exist. Or it could be a totally new Edelgard from universe where she didn't hold hatred towards crest and church.

As excited as I am for this game, it is still not mainline and I hope we can still get one this year. It's only February but I already can tell that it's not gonna be a good year for me so I need some good news and FE to play.

Robin is actually not that much better than Henriette, at least when both are maxed out.

+10+5 Valentine Robin [+Def, +Res] has 47/65/21/52/55 with just her weapon equipped.

+10+10 Valentine Henriette [+Def, +Res] has 50/63/24/52/55 with just her weapon equipped and refined for Def (to match Robin's Def and Res).

Henriette ends up with +3/-2/+3/+0/+0, which is slightly better with a notable extra 3 HP and the ability to lower her Def by 3 to boost her Res by 3 by switching refines.

Robin's only gains over Henriette are in her non-stat effects, which are the Slaying effect, which allows her to run Glacies instead of Iceberg, 30% damage reduction on the opponent's first attack, and an additional 1 HP healing per attack.

The extra damage from Glacies doesn't matter most of the time because Iceberg is already usually enough to one-hit kill most opponents, given that it hits for 31 damage with Distant Def 4 and A/R Far Save 3 equipped and no other stat boosts, and the 2 HP healing per round of combat is also not that significant.

Robin's only real advantage is her 30% damage reduction on the opponent's first attack, though the impact is less substantial if you're already running damage reduction from team support and only really matters against a small number of ranged wall breakers, as most things can't really get through 67 Res plus whatever additional Res you're dropping on them from team support.

Robin's color really only makes a difference against Legendary Chrom, but I'm pretty sure neither of them survive without Svalinn Shield.

I run a unmerge V!Henriette alongside V!Gustav and Flayn, and she would have trouble if the team has any sort of blue mage, especially Hapi will either took mine out or heavily dent her for the next range unit to kill. The reason I mentioned V!F!Robin prf is because she also comes with support, and V!Gustav has trouble with that sword cav that grant +1 mov to all, too many times he missed the kill by few HP, if I switched to bonfire+steady breath then he can't kill invested F!Edelgard (I have two team one with bonfire+SB and another Ignis+Close Defense, but if both sword cav and F!Edelgard are there I have high chance to lose). Robin prf gives debuff within 3 spaces and provide healing too.

I usually just throw the match if I see Legendary Chrom with pre-charge special anyway, not worth the hassle. I met one this week in Bridal Catria team, can't hide far enough with Yuri and sniped 2 of my units.

  9. Not Owain being the another speedy lance cavalry with workable def, but I suppose there is really no other way to be a pref-less lance cav these days.

F!Robin stats and being colorless makers her a better save tank than V!Henriette, not to mention a Prf.

Chrom is good, not sure if he can deal with far save B!Hector but at the very least can be a good support with his prf if he can't handle the combat in certain AR match.

Was thinking I want to buy some orbs so I can get at least one of each, but the orbs price are all ridiculous and definitely not worth the price after converting the currency. I only have book 5 left to grind for orbs too.

mmh, about what this year's CYL winners might be... i have no idea
i wouldn't take Tiki being a dragon once again for granted, although it would be cool to see what they could make with a Brave breath unit... ok this such a juicy opportunity, she'll most likely be a dragon
Chrom... either a lance cavalry if they want to go for the boring route which would be hilariously in-character, or it'd be cool to see him as a staff intantry unit with Emmeryn's dress
FByleth will most likely be an overly predictable sword unit (flier, if they feel daring) with Snow Mercurius
Seliph... again, no idea. i don't want him to be a green tome unit (a tome unit in general), but Leif's already been a bow unit twice, and one of them includes Seliph wielding a dagger... you know what? make him a beast unit. let the horse be the one who actually attacks foes

If IS follow the same pattern, the character from oldest title will be the sword unit, so Seliph has a really high chance to be swordie. Only CYL4 doesn't do this and it's because they are all from 3H.

And Tiki is probably colorless Dragon since it's rare.

As for Chrom (this is my personal desire not prediction), I've been saying this a thousands times everywhere when it comes to theorycrafting Awakening unit, but I still wanna say it: Griffon Rider. He has been armor, cavalry, and infantry, so flying would complete the movement circle.

  11. Murphy Law is way too real. The only green I do not want is H!Rhea and that's what I got.

Hero Fest tickets are all duds, only 1 4 star special Ylgr.

2 more circles on Elimine banner and nothing. I swear this game hates me ever since I canceled my FEH pass.

    • As for what Hrid and Eir are actually getting, I'm not sure how to feel about the overlap of Freezing Seal II and Atk/Def Menace's debuff effects, though I guess Hrid is more in it for the self-buffing. Still helpful though. I don't know why Eir is getting Atk/Res Unity though... her Res is alright I guess, but she only had Atk and Spd boosting effects on her skill set??? Sparkling Boost+ makes her an even better pseudo-healer, but an almost unconditional +5 Res boost to all allies is... huh. That's just cool.
...really does make me wonder what they're gonna do to Lyfjaberg...

@MagicCanonBalls To be fair to Owain, he's more or less guaranteed to be the demote unit. Demote units NEVER have anything heavily desirable for inheriting outside of the weapons.
Also they totally could give Hrid Distant Stance. I'm sure he would much prefer a theoretical Distant Reversal, but nothing wrong with boosting a tanks Res if he doesn't have much of that in the first place.

Probably because Swift Sparrow 3 is everywhere, already on 2 legendary units (Celica and Lucina), while Atk/Res Unity is rarer.

As for the new mode/event for Summoner Duels, I am kind of meh on it and I do not really look forward to it. I guess I am just tired of juggling between a ton of competitive modes already in the game. Also, I think it would be much better if they just put all the competitive and ranking modes under ONE icon in Coliseum. Needing to constantly check Aether Keeps, Coliseum, and even Events is just extremely annoying and downright stupid. And it would be great if Arena Assault can be reduced to five battles; even I am getting pretty tired of it at this point, and I got access to every Dancer/Singer in the game along with most Firesweepers and tank busters, AND I got guaranteed wins with Teams 6 and 7 using beefed-up Aether-Raids-styled super tanks.

Flat bonus of Res+5 is not that insane in my opinion when C Feud exists now. A super tank offloading damage reduction can get wrecked by a nuke with C Feud shutting down support from Flayn and Elimine.

AR and Arena being separated is because AR resort exists and it feels like a their own thing, but regular Summoner Duels being separated from whatever alphabet events is just nonsense.

I am tired of AA too but without it I have literally no where else to use my excess pool budget build units. I have a +5 Sedgar and +5 Elincia that are just sitting there waiting for AA matches, or my F!Kris that is unmerge, too weak to handle anything in PvE or AR and only occasionally useful in AA. I don't even allow myself to use my AR core units like A!Fjorm or Gustav.

One skill (and Bramimond) exists that counter common units like Eir are not a big deal unless it's Elimine/Save Skill level. My problem with Guinevere is that she has problem tanking archer without boosting Def since I only have the 3 free light mythic and none of them boost Def, tanking magic enemy with C feud is non-issue for her unless it's Bramimond with pre-charge Dragon Fang (in which case I am happy to lose to a dedicated IP team). I used to put Atk/Def Solo seal on her but during NinCorrin time she would die by 1 or 2 dmg differences after tanking everybody else, so I switched to spd/res form and she has been steady mage check ever since but useless if the map has even 1 bow unit on the front line. Not to mention Eir is light, which means Bridal Catria is still rampant, so every stat boost counts.

Maybe you are high up in AR, I mostly drop in and out of VoH, max I got is T34 so I don't see units with C feud that isn't W!Lysithea here. And with Master Duel I don't really keep up with competitive in this game for now, my Arena just dropped to T17 this week because I forgot to do the 5th battle again like last two week that caused me to drop to 18.

  13. Brave Eliwood and Brave Roy are the only 2 Brave units that I didn't get. Hopefully I can finally get Brave Eliwood this year.

All the Awakening alts look really good here, but Owain skillset leaves a lot to be desired. And Lucina being another green armor with save skill, that makes 5 out of 7 save armor that is green (excluding L!Tiki). But the arts look really good.

Nitpicking here but 41 orbs for anniversary just seems weird when most of the rewards has 5 in their number, they could have make it 45 at least.

Hrid skills refine is odd, since Atk/Def menace slightly clash with his B skill mass debuff, but I supposed they can't give him any upgrade to Distant Counter. Eir on the other hand, res+5 in-combat with no distance restriction is insane, my OG Chrom might shine again in Light season as omni-tank, and I can put Def boosting seal on Guinevere (spd/def form can't come sooner).

I think it's more that the votes are a bit more spread out. The last couple of years have had pretty clean-cut clear winners, ya know? This year, with the exception of Chrom and Byleth, no one was really 100% sure who to rally beyond.

Male Byleth will win next year, right?

I sure hope so. This is probably the only mobile game I will continue playing since I lost all my progress on Pokemon Master and I am too far behind FGO to pick up the pace.

Next year Sigurd is probably guaranteed, which leaves Felix and Soren. Male Byleth is not since avatar always has split fanbase (people who like male avatars not necessarily will support female avatars and vice versa). And if I prayed hard enough we might get a new FE game or a remake this year, so his popularity will likely dropped again.

  15. I have been waiting for Digimon Survive since its announcement, although I have mixed feelings from gameplay trailer (battle and evolve animation looks really slow, wish we can speed up)

Midnight son looks promising but it's the monetization system that I am worried about.

I am going to wait for PC port of Triangle Project. Like Octopath, the word is just too small on switch lite, even if I switch to chinese it still looks small, and the lighting/art style made it worse.

  16. I watched a video of someone using OG Fir to tank left side of the map, so I know Arthur is gonna have to step in again. All the panic debuff, the near save sword armor, plus the trenches seems overkill. Even my Save Ball with Flayn has trouble clearing the map. Feel a bit not satisfied for using male morgan here, since he is on my arena core team and I already see so much of him, but literally no one else can replace him.

Nice. I guess I will finally finish my Save tank team for Astra. I am tempted to get four copies, but I know I will try to get at least two.

She is really, really, really strong. Combat is the last thing I would judge a Mythic unit on. You can certainly use them as combat units and some are built that way by default, but without access to stat boosts, they are better off focusing on support in general where raw stats matter a lot less.

For Astra season, double Save tank teams can completely forgo regular support units and stack four Elimines for max scoring, HP+20, Spd+16, up to Def/Res +16 in combat, and up to about 75% of damage reduction in combat. You can even replace one of the Staff of the Saint with Tannenbaton to offload Guard from the Save tanks. Personally, I would also replace another Staff of the Saint since I honestly do not see the point in having more than two, but we do not have another inheritable staff on the level of Tannenbaton yet. Even with just two Elimines and two Flayns, that is not a bad setup either and the Flayns can Pulse Tie the enemy team every turn, and you can either double down on debuffs with Panic Ploys, or run Recoveries to get rid of debuffs on your tanks.

And with her Weapon, you can get rid of Triangle Attack, Pulses, and buffs. Getting rid of movement is not a huge deal in my opinion since you are getting at least Def/Res+12 and 65% damage reduction in most scenarios, especially if you use Save tanks with additional built in damage reduction on the unit itself, and Save tanks do not care about being flanked either.

I would say Palm Staff for spd debuff is good for fast save armor like A!Fjorm, then gravity so you can have mobility to grab pots, and then there is pain+ to speed up killing things so you can grab the pots, and also because sometimes ARD has those annoying box armor team that makes initiating without a Thorr a serious pain.

  18. This banner is really tempting. Unfortunately I am out of orbs and still one full circle away from free spark on Hatari banner (Only got one 4 star Xane, but got an extra Say'ri which is always nice). Green and Colorless are stacked, I still want Legendary Claude for collection purpose, and either Elimine or Ashera could be my Astra savior. Stopping Bridal Catria is honestly huge for my Astra team since I only have A!Fjorm and no melee save armor, and my infantry unit just cant tank much from bridal catria team. Green Duel 4 means I can build my Sedgar for Arena, Eitri is just bonker, and I need another A!Fjorm to even out the -spd iv.

Red isn't so bad, Constance is the only Ashen Wolf character that I failed to grab, Lethality would be neat for my Kaze and more Distant Counter is always good. If I got lucky I could have a whole new arena team, and my Niles + Arthur can finally retire.

  19. Ryoma being the only Fate Male Royal not in Top 20 is hilarious and sad.

    Alfonse placing always confuse me.

Oh Seliph, curse my tongue for saying I wish him and Soren wouldn't be top 2. I don't wanna switch to Felix just to push him out but also very tempting. Nonetheless Chrom is looking really dangerous with Sigurd fans possibly rallying behind Seliph even more.

The TMS push might just get IS to release a banner finally.
