  1. Good DLC: Adds onto the game, and doesn't feel like it should have been there from the get go. EX: Awakening's DLC.

Bad DLC: Stuff that's already on disc, or should have been there from launch. EX: Anything from Capcom.

It is entirely unnecessary to buy both versions of pokemon to fully experience the game advertised. That is not true of the current japanese release of FE:if. It's a cashgrab.

True, but if each of FE:if's campaigns have as much unique content as awakening in the end it'll be 3 games for the price of 2. While it may be a cash grab, file size may also be an issue at hand here as 3ds carts can only hold so much data, and DLC goes into the SD card.

  2. Buffs

Shulk: Make N-air and jab come out slightly faster (Also fix jab 2-3 not consistently connecting on floaty characters), and slightly increase grab range. (His grab range is shorter than Pikachu's or pretty close to it)

Ganondorf: Lower landing lag on F-air and B-air. Also make U-tilt an instant kill. Anyone who gets hit by it is clearly doing something wrong.

Ike: Make F-tilt and N-air slightly faster.

Marth and Lucina: Increase range, and lower ending lag/landing lag on all moves.

Little Mac: Bring aerial Side-B's range back to what it used to be.

Greninja: Lower ending lag on Neutral-B.

Wii-Fit Trainer: Make hitboxes more consistent.

Palutena: Lower ending lag on tilts.

Falco: Make D-air come out faster, and decrease end lag on lasers.

Dr. Mario: Make F-air spike, decrease end lag on down-B, and increase up-B's distance.

Zelda: Let her act after using Din's Fire in the air.

    Nerfs:

Diddy Kong: Make him so bad that he's unusable Nerf U-air and F-air's speed, range, and kill power. Make D-throw's trajectory and distance be unable to be followed up on.

Sheik: Increase F-air's knockback so it's harder to chain, but can be used to kill. Also increase Bouncing Fish's end lag should the attack be blocked.

    Sonic: No kill throws.

    Ness: Lower back-throw's killing power.

Yoshi: Lower D-air's damage, and reduced armor on aerials.

That's all I can really think of right now... (Also yes, I do hate Diddy Kong and every Kong except for Donkey Kong quite strongly, outside of Smash and in Smash.)

  3. also Ylisse isn't really all-goody(see Chrom's father).

I more meant Ylisee with Emmeryn and Chrom as the leaders. Emmeryn more specifically as her completely pacifistic ways are praised (while Elincia's initial indecisiveness in the face of conflict was called out as a weakness in FE10), and she's generally an idiot but gets praised for it as a paragon of all things goods.

  4. Fanservice has been in far more than just Awakening and If. Aside from the really fanservicey things (oh hey Camilla), I actually (for the most part) like the art direction for in Awakening and If for the most part. Same thing goes for characterization. Awakening's cast is rather average compared to other casts in the series. (by average I mean middle of the road quality wise) While tons of the complaints about Awakening and If's direction are quite valid, a lot of the problems in Awakening are found in other entries in the series.

Gameplay wise, I still have a lot of fun with every game in series, Awakening included. I do like that the Nohr path in If seems to want to cater to the more old school fans, gameplay wise while the Hoshido path seems to want to cater to the fans Awakening brought in.

  5. 1. From what I understand, this only applies if you've purchased both versions. If you just pick up White or Black digitally, you're still locked to a particular path.

    2. That's more expensive than I realized, thanks for the correction. Though this furthers the suspicion of cash-grabbery.

    3. Which is why I said "early on."

You misunderstood my point. I was encouraging people not to make too many assumptions and dismiss FE14 as a cash-grab, even if some signs point in that direction.

I'm quite interested in finding out the file size of each FE14 cart. I remember seeing somewhere that 3ds carts can only have 8gb of data (please do correct me if I'm wrong), and the DLC would be downloaded to the SD card rather than the cart itself. So while I am suspecting it being a cash grab of sorts, it may also be file size limitations. (I do remember reading that each campaign will have about as much content as Awakening)

  6. Personally I like the idea that the Hoshido are living in the past. Like, it was obvious that the peace treaties were crumbling for a long time, but the Hoshido have their heads stuck so far up their *** that they couldn't see it. This would explain why the Nohr "suddenly" invaded. Hoshidons (is that the term?) were simply so delusional that they thought everything was perfect, and now they delusionally think that the whole situation is very black and white.

I kind of like that as well. While Hoshido is very likely to be just a simple good nation without much depth to it (Like Ylisse), it'd be cool if they were somewhat delusional to the world around them (like refusing to admit that their relationship with Nohr is stagnating before war breaks out), and even rude to other nations. If they were handled in a similar fashion to FE10 Crimea (their ruler being criticized for their pacifism, or some other issues going on), I'd really like that.

Now one thing I've been thinking about in regards to the Nohr path. In the direct they mention the focus will be on reforming Nohr from within. Does that mean the conflict with Hoshido will be over relatively quickly in the Nohr path? It seems like they have the advantage in the conflict, so I'm wondering if it will just be a shorter story arc rather than something that lasts most of the game. Or it could just share the focus with reforming Nohr.

  7. What? I thought the Direct said Hoshido was going to be more like traditional FE games?

Hoshido's story is going to be like a more traditional FE game. The gameplay is going to be more like Awakening/Gaiden/Sacred Stones with a world map and such. Nohr's story is going to be more ambitious apparently, and appears to be more like older FE games where you go from chapter to chapter. (At the very least they said Nohr is going to be lacking in the ability to grind and freely gain gold.)

  8. Hey, that screenshot shows that characters can have six skills now instead of five. That's pretty neat. :o

Also, I hate Camilla already. That design is even worse than Tharja's. Just, ugh. She might as well only be in her underwear if she's going to go around with her panties and bra showing like that. The heavy cleavage is stupid too. As are her transplant-looking round big boobs. I bet if my stepdad happened to glance over at my screen and see her, he'd be like "What the fuck are you playing?!" -_-

I'm completely indifferent to her design. Whether or not I like her in the end completely depends on her character, and I'm definitely going to side with Nohr on my first playthrough as I'm very interested in the supposedly more complex plot, and being more like the older FEs gameplay wise that the Nohr route promises, than the traditional story the Hoshido route promises. (I'm still going to do a second run through on the Hoshido side, and then any other runs completely depend on which side I enjoyed more) That being said, I really like Marx and Ryo's designs.

  9. Since the Avatar is the main character this time around, instead of co-starring with a lord, I feel like it might work out better than Awakening and New Mystery of the Emblem. I mean there's no "Main Lord" for them to completely overshadow this time around (Chrom in Awakening), and they won't have their every line be them kissing the the Lord's ass (Marth in New Mystery). How they are handled as the lead character though, that remains to be seen.

    This'll be an interesting experiment.

  10. While I'm wary about the whole multiple versions thing, if each game has enough unique content to warrant being it's own game, then we're essentially getting two different Fire Emblem games, just in the same world, which is completely fine by me.

From what has been said, this is seeming to be the case specifically coming from this:

    Fire Emblem if Hoshido

A story focusing on protecting your Hoshidan birthland and royal relatives from the Nohrian invasion. Outside the main story, you can earn experience and funds and freely develop your characters; perfect for those who enjoy freedom.

    Fire Emblem if Nohr

In this story, you work with the Nohrian royal family to battle the internal conflicts within Nohr itself. Compared to Hoshido, the difficulty is higher, with limited chances to earn experience and funds.

Granted, if they are lying and it's just the same battles but with swapped positions, I'm going to be quite irritated.
  11. Fire Emblem if Hoshido

Huh... I'm getting the feeling that the Hoshido path is more meant to cater to the newer fans brought in by Awakening, and the Nohr path is trying to cater more to fans of the older FE games. Just a feeling, I could be completely off the mark here.

  12. Imma assume that people are more attracted to Nohr's side due to it being edgy and having Kamira/Camila's tits high difficulty according to the direct.

That, plus it seems that fixing Nohr from the inside will be a thing, and that interests me more than the standard repel the invaders that Hoshido's side seems to be.

I'm hoping they'll be defeated but not actually die in battle. Otherwise, I'm just going to hope they don't appear in any "route the enemy" chapters.

I dunno, I think it would make the multiple versions thing have more of an impact. I'm down for being forced to kill the other game's playable cast.

  13. Varied objectives are great for helping keep the game feeling varied. When there are a few route missions in a row in any game (Awakening, RD Part 4, etc) the game begins to drag down a bit. I'd be more than pleased if there was more objectives than just route the boss.
