  1. i really liked the adventure mode. best one they made yet. Game is really fun and its nice to get the guys together and play but i really dont play it by myself anymore, did for like 2 weeks but afterwards its more of a casual game for me. still a great game.

What’s the best use for Heroic Grails? I’ve been debating saving them for Young Azura, merging up my Black Knight, or getting Distant Def fodder from Garon. Probably won’t be doing arena for a while since I just started playing again, if that matters.

basically if you wanna merge one of the characters the hero grails help with the harder to access characters. i recently used some grails for skill fodders. Res tactic from canas. i personally have no desire to merge any of the characters currently, it takes a long time to get enough grails to +10 a guy. assuming you got the 3 free versions of the character from the maps you still need 7 which will take about 6 months if not more.

  3. Radiant Dawn for sure since its the sequel to Path of Radiance. its my personal favorite for so many reasons and makes/answers lots of other stuff that happened in PoR. Plus after you beat and do a new game on top of the Epilogue you can get the best ending possibly (Significantly better then the first playthrough)

  4. I like tempest trials and voting gauntlet (cause they give best rewards), tap battle is super easy so i like the free rewards. i dont think a lot about Aether Raids tbh you only get two play 2 times a day basically, im like in limbo on Tier 15.

its hard to think of a new game mode but i wish there was like castle defense. you like just position your units in the castle/fort/building etc and have to hold out for a certain amount of turns or get a certain kill count. Kina like Survive 4-6 turns in story mode but with a higher emphasis on "Holding the line"

  5. I love the series a lot but ive been losing interest tbh with the spin offs. we did finally get another main western release with VC4 but idk it feels like it takes forever to complete a map. i wish i had more time on my hands to fully enjoy the game but sadly i cannot.

one thing i gotta say i do love is the Squad stories. Great idea and gives every character a personality rather then just traits and a name.

i personally think the series should change up where the game takes place. Try maybe a futuristic approach or go back even farther to WW1. Games got greatplay but i think they should figure out how to speed along the fights. im in general a very cautious person so sometimes me and the game dont always get along, plus if you lose you gotta start the WHOLE mission all over again.

  6. We need less alts unless its seasonal (Winter, spring etc) and it needs to be not fatesawakening. More Tellius characters and overall older characters. I hope they make more quests for sacred coins, i find they are very hard to get. Hopefully they dont go crazy on the powercreep, some of these new units are getting pretty strong (Hrid, surtr, Christmas ephraim and more).

i like most of the modes in heroes even tap battle but i dislike rival domains/grand conquests, i dont participate in these ones that much cause they are that boring to me.

we know laguz are finally coming so i hope they release more throughout the year and not start with taguals after tibarn and nailaih

  7. FE1: Ballista units and cool continent.

FE6: Size of the maps are bigger then most which i like.

FE7: Diverse Maps and the Black Fang

    FE8: The map system.

    FE9: Everything (Literally)

    FE10: Everything (Literally)

FE13: Map system and child units. (Fates child system sucks and is pointless)

FE14: Dungeon crawling was different and i enjoyed it.

FE15: Not much i like about Fates but Ninjas are cool i guess.

  8. When Heroes first came out i quit after 2 months. at this point i cannot remember why but im glad i started back up this summer cause im really enjoying it. i actually dont mind spending money on the game cause im actually playing it a lot everyday and have been consistently for 5 months. i think there doing a lot of good things they just need to stop reskinning the same characters over and over again unless they actually have alternate outfits (ex. ike). I wish some things were a little easier to get like sacred coins and hero feathers but otherwise im usually pretty pleased.

At least with a Seize map you can end it early if you don't feel like chasing down and killing every single enemy on the map.

why would you do that though? getting all the experience possible is the smartest way to play. its very rare ill not kill everyone on the map before continuing. couple timed chapter in binding blade make it a little hard but other then that no reason not to kill everyone for training and just overall gameplay experience.

    Best:

    • Red Dead Redemption 2. Warts and all, I enjoyed the ride, and the game is a technical marvel.
    • Dragon Quest XI. I was upset with the seemingly flipped structure of the game compared to other DQ games, but getting over that, it was a very good DQ game.
    • Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. It's only been a few weeks, but it's been a lot of fun. Spirit Mode has actually been a fun side attraction, and putting all of the references together has been fun. Being able to play with friends and family all the time has been great, too.

Full disclosure for my worst games of the year, I didn't go out of my way to play any games I knew would be bad, so I won't be putting the obvious choices here. I could see games like Fallout 76 and Metal Gear Survive being bad from 10 miles away, so I avoided them. Sp despite this being a "Worst" list, I would still probably say all of the games here are still largely good games.

    Worst:

    • God of War. Controversial pick, but I'm reaching my tipping point of "Everything games". I don't think putting EVERYTHING in God of War was for the best, and the combat was pretty eh. The camera's obnoxious, and fighting 20 trolls for boss fights isn't a good way to handle most of your boss fights in an action game. Points for making me actually like Kratos a bit, though, since he's been god awful since the original game.
    • Monster Hunter World. Another controversial pick, but long story short, I just don't think this franchise for me. I knew this years ago, but so many people told me "Noooooo, it's different. This one is totally accessible. We'll play with you!" I still can't get into this franchise. I hate the structure of the games. I actively questioned why I bothered with the gameplay loop every time I did a hunt.
    • Octopath Traveler. I enjoyed this much more than the other two on my worst list, but I just feel that there were so many missed opportunities for this game that it just ended up being disappointing. It's pretty and has a fun battle system, but the story's incredibly bare, and the characters aren't anything special. For a game structured around its cast, you'd think it'd do more with them.

    Most anticipated for 2019:

    • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. I'm a big Fromsoft Stan. Sekrio looks like their first proper action game since they've exploded in relevance, and I'm really excited to see how it turns out. Everything looks very promising so far.
    • Devil May Cry V. I've been asking for this game for 10 years, and it looks fantastic.
    • Resident Evil 2 Remake. I've been asking for this game for 15 years, and it looks fantastic.
    • Project Awakening. This one surprises me the most. While Capcom is off making other games I really want, I am now questioning if I'll ever get a game like Dragon's Dogma ever again. This game might fit the bill, combined with some Monster Hunter(Minus the gameplay loop that I can't stand). I actually doubt this will make its 2019 release, but I hope. I really want a good Japanese RPG for 2019.
    • The Outer Worlds. On the flipside, a western RPG from one of the best WRPG makers in the business. I'm psyched for Fallout: New Vegas in space.
    • Psychonauts 2. I put $90 into it. Psychonauts 1 is my second favorite game of all time. They're getting almost everyone that made the first game special back. All of their pre-release material has been great. I need it.

damn your list is for sure not what i would expect. Octopath Traveler was insanely good and well done, with amazing art. i diasgree with about the characters and story as well. 1 of the characters was pretty boring but the rest were all interesting. overall for sure controversial picks.

  11. My best:

    God of war

    Ni no kuni Revenent Kingdom

    Red dead redemption 2

    Octopath Traveler

    Super Smash bros Ultimate

    My worst:

None i can think of cause i dont just buy random games.

    Most anticipated:

Death stranding: Looks awesome and unique. im curious about a lot more details but my interest is certainly piqued.

Fire Emblem Three Houses: As long as it isnt like fire emblem Fates i will be happy. even if its more like awakening id find it acceptable. If it was like Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn? hell id be so fucking happy but that wont happen cause they mainstreamed the franchise and less and less stuff is going into games, not getting my hopes up just yet without seeing more.

Ghost of tsushima: may have misspelled that but yeah this game looks good and havent played a good action game in awhile.

Days gone: love me some post apocalyptic games. that genre will never get old for me.

Code vein: love the dark souls series/bloodborne so you bet ill be getting my hands on this game.

The last of us part 2: Do i really need to say anything about one of the best game in history?

    Watching out for:

Metro Exodus and biomutant are 2 games im keeping an eye on and probably wont get on release but maybe later down the line if i like the gameplay/story im seeing.Devil may cry 5 as well, its a badass series what ese can i say.

Fire Emblem has plenty of continents and they all come with some sort of lore, history and general set up for different nations. So how would you rank these continents based on their presentation, lore and worldbuilding? Note that its not about what games or stories you like best but purely on the countries in these games and how the story affects these places.

    1: Tellius

To me Tellius is the best continent in all of Fire Emblem and I think most posters would agree on this. It received the best world building and all its countries are really well developed. What's more important is that the countries are defined without relying on gimmicks. Other Fire Emblem define their countries by just saying which classes hail from that place and call it a day, but Tellius notably doesn't do this. Daien isn't defined by fielding Wyvrens but by being a racist country that's also full of honorable warrior types and is even somewhat of a meritocracy. Most countries evolve to some degree and the effects of enemy occupation are much better displayed than in other continents. Tellius is even further expanded upon by a lore book which came with a full history that include things like the Begnion civil war or even a full scale world war long before the events of the game.

    2: Elibe

Elibe isn't as nicely developed as Tellius but its a very respectable second place. Elibe is really good at presenting a world with variety. All nations are notably distinct from each other. Etruria and Bern are monarchies, Sacae and Lycia sort themselves into numerous tribes and fiefdoms while the Western Isles and Illia don't seem to have any real government at all. To some extend the different countries are shown to have some history with each other. Etruria and Bern are depicted as rival superpowers while Lycians and perhaps even the entire continent look down on Saceans.

    3: Valentia

Its a case of smaller being better. Valentia has only two countries but they are depicted pretty well. The spoiled and decadent Zofia is a clear contrast to the cold and militaristic Rigel. The world building does a good job showing Zofia's decline with it being torn apart by mismanagement, civil war and bandits having taken over half of the country. The geography further sets it apart with especially Rigel being shown as particularly inhospitable since its all poison swamps, snowfields and at best northern pine forests.

    4: Jugdral

I'm not particularly impressed with Jugdral. The story and characters are amazing but the world they inhabit is a bit bare bones. Aside from the legend of the crusaders we don't really know much of its history. There's a timeline which mention something of a Gran Republic that Loptyr originally conquered but so little about it is said that its meaningless. The various countries are defined but only in ways such as ''snow country'', ''barbarian country'' or ''Knight country''. The only exception to this are the Tracian countries and to some extend Granvelle itself who need to carry the rest of the continent. That it ranks relatively high is probably my bias and that the three countries I mentioned do lift the others up. Some additional world building is done by gameplay too. Holy blood being so powerful shows how big a deal it is and no one having any resistance makes it clear how strong magic is on Jugdral.

    5: Archenea

I used to be pretty hard on Archanean worldbuilding and I still am. Countries like Grust, Altea, Gra and even Dohlr all lack noticeable traits. The continent is saved by the country of Archenea which actually does have some interesting lore. The glorious empire being founded by a random thief is actually pretty neat and thanks to Anri's tale and Gotoh's words we can piece together a decent history of the continent. The continent hosting two games ensures that some countries are allowed to evolve to a certain degree. Grust for example goes from a conquering nation to being terrorized and enslaved by the very nation it had conquered earlier.

    6: Fateslandia

Its bad. Nothing is developed and the continent doesn't even have a name. That said I feel weirdly charitable whenever I think about Fateslandia. The general set up about two superpowers and various nations and tribes needing to find their way between these powers is an interesting concept, and reminds of Elibe a bit. Nohr and Hoshido are clearly very different countries with established negative attitude towards each other. Hoshido's eastern influances and Nohr being barren and barely getting sunlight further separates the two kingdoms. With Ylisse and Magvel I think there truly is no additional story to tell on those continents but with Fateslandia I think there is a lot of potential if a competent writing team ever revisited the place.

    7: Magvel

Really not a single nation stands out to me. Every country on Magvel feels incredibly generic and defined only by the classes that hail from that place. The countries lack almost any real traits and we know nothing of Magvel's history. The twins spend  little time in the vast majority of the countries. Frelia and Rausten are visited only once while Jehena and even Renais fare little better. Eliwood and Co didn't even visit most of the continent in their game either but this ensured Lycia, Bern and Sacea got more attention. In Stones this didn't really happen. Ephraim spends a long time in Grado but we still barely know anything about the place aside from that its the enemy. Jehena probably has its best since it has a mercenary theme but even that country is merely a fusion of Illia and Silesia from other games.

    8: Ylisse

Same problem as with Magvel: absolutely nothing is defined. Ylisse, Plegia and Ferox never grow to be anything more than ''Good guy nation'', ''Enemy nation'' and ''Ally nation''. Sure, Ferox has a slight warrior gimmick but that's only important for one stage. Plegia is supposedly this sinister place that worships Grima but we only know this because the game tells us, it never actually shows this in practice with the Grima church being represented just by Validar and some mooks. The less said about Valm the better.

And the main problem for Ylisse is that its exactly the continent that shouldn't skip out on worldbuilding. Ylisse not telling us its lore is annoying because its created by a change in Archenean lore. But we don't know any of this. We don't know why Marth's empire fell, we don't know why Altea is suddenly a desert and we don't know how Ylisse replaced Archenea. Because of its connection to Archenea Ylisse should be held to higher standards that it isn't even trying to meet.

Damn dude i agree with every one except id put fateslandia in 8th, and ylisse in 6th.

So, I'm curious to see how people rank the Fire Emblem games. Thought I would ask.

    Here's my ranking:

    • God Tier: Radiant Dawn, Path of Radiance
    • Pretty Solid Tier: Blazing Sword
    • Meh Tier: Sacred Stones
    • Would Rather Not Play Through Again Tier: Echoes Shadows of Valentia, Binding Blade
    • Abysmal In Ever Sense of The Word Tier: Shadow Dragon, Awakening, Fates
    • Haven't Played, So Cannot Comment: Geneology of The Holy War, Tharcia 776, New Mystery of The Emblem

Feel free to include reason if you feel you must.

i agree with this list a lot i would just switch Blazing sword and sacred stones and id put Gaiden/Echoes shadows of valentia in Meh tier.

  14. So i pulled a Winter Fae and im not a big fan of the unit/character in general but she has amazing skills! i dont know which one is more valuable. Armor march 3 or Vengeful fighter 3.

My Armor Team consists of Black Knight, Fallen Hardin, Brave Hector (Maltet) and Surtr. i was thinking either trade my black knights fortify armor out for armor march or hectors even res wave for armor march but there both good skills. For vengeful fighter hardin and hector already have bold fighter and black knights got quick riposte so i was thinking instead of Wary fighter on surtr give him vengeful fighter?

These are the the ideas im having but need a veterans opinion. only been playing for about 6-7 months total (stopped playing after the first 2 months of release and picked it back up in August)
