  1. While I would feel happy for the couples if they had good chemistry, I would also feel bad for the poor characters (and their fans) who would feel left out. Take Awakening: There are 13 main first-generation male characters, but only 11 main first-generation female characters. While this is likely for gameplay purposes even if one or two fall men fall, you can still get all the children, assuming that everyone lives, the only way to give all of them a paired ending is to do both of these actions:

    a. Play as female Robin and marry Frederick, Virion, Stahl, Vaike, Kellam, Lon'qu, Ricken, Gaius, Gregor, Libra, Henry, or Donnel.

    b. Force Chrom to marry the village maiden.

Somehow, I doubt that would be the case if Awakening had canonized pairings, so at least one of the other guys will feel left out. It makes me wish all the more that Anna or Say'ri were more involved in the group.

Did the poll include villains?  Not that I expect most of them would do any damage, but Griss was fine for what he was.  (Mauvier was pretty decent too, but I totally get that his character type isn't doing any damage in a raw popularity contest.)

Yes. Also, Zephia has quickly climbed up my list of the most vile villains.

  3. I gotta say, I really hand it to Alear. To go from being criticized for their hair to sweeping the gauntlet centered around it. Something something if you know, you know. And no, I'm not all warm and fuzzy just because I'm supporting her/them!

I'm a little confused as to why you altered what I said in your quote.

But, regardless, I could see more returning stages and Home-Run Contest, but I don't think we would have gotten any new roster slots for Gen 8 Pokemon, Paper Mario, or Luigi's Mansion, simply because of how long they've said it takes for brand new characters to get made. The most likely scenario is two or three of the DLC characters who they were already working on, and Rex and Spring Man since they were already being considered.

Perhaps I should've clarified that the hypothetical Gen 8 Pokémon would have most likely replaced Incineroar. I just find it weird that up to Ultimate's release, from Melee to Smash 4, a Smash game would come out in the middle of even-numbered generations and pick one from the most recent, as all the previous 'mons were from gens 1, 2, 4, and 6. As for Gooigi, sure making a brand new character takes a long time, but what about Echo Fighters? I'm genuinely curious.

If Ultimate had another year of development, then I'm honestly not sure a whole lot would change. We'd probably have another couple of new stages and a couple of the first-party DLC characters would be in the base game and no longer DLC, my guess would be Byleth, Min-Min, and Pyra/Mythra because I seem to remember Sakurai saying he was considering ARMS and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 characters for the base game but they didn't make it for one reason or another.

^ I think we could've had a few more returning stages and Home-Run Contest available at launch. I also heard a theory somewhere that Trophies might have also came back if they had more time, or they would at least have had the time to include descriptions. And, there would obviously be more representation from games that would've come out by that point that didn't really get much otherwise such as Sword & Shield (some Gen 8 Pokémon in Pokéballs, or even a roster slot), Paper Mario: The Origami King, and Luigi's Mansion 3 (Gooigi as Luigi's Echo Fighter?) in addition to music and Trophies/Spirits.

Thank you so much. It releasing a couple days after my bday is a great bday gift for myself haha. Can't wait to dive into it.

Hey, that's going to be the case for me too!😄 But between cake icing and butter from my The Super Mario Bros. Movie popcorn, my hands may not be ready to complete it for a while without completely bricking my Switch...she's already got a case of the Joy-Con Drift...

  7. I dislike supports center around relationships where the characters antagonize each other (looking at you, Azama and Felix)/lead into toxic relationships, especially if it goes past the C Support. It was also hard to pair most of the Awakening children since a lot of them had the characters bickering at one another. One of the more recent ones I found is the chain between Boucheron and Etie where Etie endlessly probes Boucheron for questions, stalks him, accuses him of using unscrupulous means to appear more muscular despite him naturally being that way, and even steals his sandwich. I mean, who does that? Luckily, most of the characters in question, even Etie, do have better supports.

I am currently on Ch. 10, in which I am aware of what happens there and in Chapter 11. Namely how you will lose your current Emblems and get right back to square one after Ch. 11 and while you do get new ones afterwards. You won't get your old Emblems back until Ch. 17-22. So in other words I have been doing some grinding with my units for EXP/Engage Bonding, and continued when I realized how the Relay Trials can be a decent source of Master/Second Seals. I have been thinking of doing this until I can get the DLC Expansion Pass since you keep the DLC Emblems even after Ch. 10/11. Only problem is that the Pass is $30, in which I am not exactly against the concept of Expansion Passes in general. But one of my initial problems with this game is that unlike previous titles the Expansion Pass is the only way to get the DLC in the game (aside from occasional free updates like the Ancient Well).

I am in this exact same mindset, and judging by that description, it seems like I won't be able to power through and get it over with in one sitting like I did when faced with similar scenarios in FE Fates: Revelations and Kid Icarus: Uprising (oddly enough, Chapter 18 in both of those games), and still can't do for the penultimate chapter of Birthright.

  9. Individual Heroes:

Brave Elise in an outfit where she becomes a beautiful woman and takes after Camilla as a green tome Malig Knight.

    Brave Lissa based on Emmeryn

    Brave Berkut/Rinea/Fernand

    Spoiler

In an alternate timeline, Berkut is given time in advance to come to terms with Alm being the king and he and Fernand work alongside him to slay Duma. Berkut and Rinea then get married and become Valentia's premiere nobles.

Young Dimitri & Edelgard Thief Dancer Duo

    Young Arion & Altena Duo

A Harmonic Hero with Cain/Abel archetypes

    Leo wielding his Iceblade

Halloween Subaki inspired by his Harvest Scramble outfit where his weapon, the Fauxchion is a weaker, but inheritable Falchion--a Perfect (cosplay) Prince indeed.

A whole bunch of others based on DLC outfits, miscellaneous art, and trading cards

  10. EEEEEEEEEEEE! Spring Ashe! Cuteness overload! (Don't worry, you'll be dashing someday, but since you are in your academy appearance, you're cute!) And Bernadetta & Michalis (the prophecy has at last been fulfilled).

Also, could they just ... put regular Ashe in the game already.

    Please...He's my no. 1 most-wanted hero.

  11. For me, it has to be Aerith. Everything from her appealing design, to her kind, yet spunky personality, her incredibly powerful magic, and understated, yet crucial role in the story make her a great party member and incredible character. Also, you never forget your first.

I know the latter three, and they are "loveable to hate" in completely different ways, haha. Except, I do think Metodey is simply lame. He's almost on the same level as Pallardó to me; just a "bleh" unlikeable dude they throw in when they want a semi-recognizable face among the hordes of nameless thieves or other scum. Walhart, on the other hand, is pretty badass I'd say, doesn't take from anyone, and doesn't squirm when put on the ropes a bit. The Death Knight is as hilarious as he is intimidating, what with his sadism and masochism in equal measure, and his crazed mutterings that he makes (basically to himself) as he fights do instill some nervousness in me...

The main reasons I mentioned Metodey are his comically impossibly large ego, unapologetically evil eye shadowing, and of course,Todd Haberkorn's delivery.

Assuming we aren't just getting Engage again already, this next New Heroes banner should probably be for Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn. That Three Hopes banner was the latest Three Houses banner so Tellius is the non-TMS game that's gone the longest without a New Heroes banner.

Oh yeah. I guess I never got around to adjusting my timeline thing since I wasn't sure if they considered it a new game or not. Guess we'll just have to see what the team thinks. But if that is the case, then yes, you are correct.
