  1. If you wanted to get rid of that ferrari you would get a sizable chunk of your money back. heck most versions of a ferrari are only sold to a limited amount of people that the 2nd hand price surpasses the retail price. also if you where to buy those cars 2nd hand unless you demolish them you'll gain pretty much all your money back. gucchi lowers in price 2nd hand but yet again you'll gain some money back. at the end of the day in both those cases you purchases some valuable raw materials in combination of craftmanship. quality had it's price. and while you could buy a ton of nice cars for the same money. it doesnt have that ferrari quality. You want something of the same quality your going to spend just as much on a different brand like the lambogini. If where talking raw materials in a ferrari or lambo them profit margins arent as big as you might think that in the combination with the craftmanship the profit margin is lower than what one would expect them car parts are legit pricy to make. this isnt like a restaurant in wich you literally pay 10 to 20% of the raw material costs and 80% for the service of not having to cook yourselves. also comparing a ferrari. a car wich pretty much anyone in the world would want to have. with a motor wich is very pricy to make handmade interior and comfy seats. you can't be serious. not the greatest comparison. if you where to spend 10.000$ in a gacha game you lost 10.000$ for some jepegs and voice lines you could buy a ton of sizable games for the same price. also if you where to sell an account in wich you invested 10K not only is it very hard to do. you'll get a mere fraction of your money back if you do it fast enough before some power creep wich devalues older stuff. If where talking gacha games i would rather compare it to the more hardcore merhandice collectors however gacha games are a bit of a downgrade compared to that since you have nothing to show for. also a gacha game could end at any point. People can do with their money what they want but you can't convince me that pretty much anthing else has better value than some jpegs with some voice lines. especially if where talking games the sector in wich these gacha games are at. if you really needed some of them jepegs and voice lines for the majority all that stuff is there online. Gacha games with mainly the fanservice I'd say it's a different kind of merchandice collecting with a bit of gameplay for especially the whales, since grinding ain't fun mainly collecting for those kinds of people. i guess you can't really call them games if you want to try to justify the price. like literally 5$ for 2 or 3 summons. Also your quote in terms of inflation Inflation is also a thing. Base games that cost $60 20 years ago still cost $60 today. The price of base games effectively dropped by a third. Cost of living in most cities also did not drop by a third, if it dropped at all. I do not think developers should take a pay cut just for your entertainment. 20 years ago you say? them most profitable wii era was until 2011 ds era even until 2012 with them big releases. that's 7 to 8 years. or what about mario odyssey why aren't they bankrupped yet it didnt have any dlc at all on switch. OMG games need dlc to make a profit. that was a big investment title. also most wii u and 3ds titles had no dlc at all especially the big titles like mario kart 7 so in other words especially for nintendo it was literally just a few years ago Mainly switch titles have dlc. wii u barely had any dlc at all with smash bros being that exception also if where talking FE 3 houses most games where on handheld for 40$ so they increased it by 20$ since it is a console game. that's an increase of 50%. inflation is not 50% for even 10 or 15 years. your overestimating it a bit. the grapics in tree houses are nothing to write home about so let's not pretend that it was a big budget title. it's probably one of the weakest looking switch games. only surpassing stuff like pokemon sword & shield. also if where talking price cuts the amount of game sales determine if a game is profitable or not. the purchase price of a game is irrelevant. I could charge 1000$ for a game but if not enough people are buying it the game will be a total flop. Last time i checked classic Fire emblem games had sales ranging from 50 to only 300ish K copies worldwide they had mediocre sales. Fire emblem awakening sold 2million + and fates and tree houses are around the 3 million copy mark So especially in the case of fire emblem I highly doubt the inflation was an issue here. those past games even at just a couple hundred K where however still profitable enough to keep it going lol. 10+ games before awakening also speaking of inflation Nintendo games are the least affected by this. if you go to buy a game at any other console that isnt nintendo the games retail price of 60$ drop so fast after just 1 month to like 30$ or less even brand new in stores. very few games stay pricy on say the ps4 they drop fast. nintendo years later for a ton of games just 50 or 60$
  2. Fries and a drink add to the experience they aren't inferior they actully make the experience better. if where comparing food. if where talking botw okay this is a great example it had some legitmate good stuff in the dlc even it is a bit stingy to held the dlc back considering that it was done before the base game was released. if this was old Nintendo that dlc would have been in the base game. xenoblade 2 was yet again another great example of decent dlc If I where to go to that fast food join again I would add those fries and a drink to my burger every time. Now back to what most dlc is: added fodder even the added story lines in a ton of cases. You have an excellent burger but your going to buy some chicken nuggets with those on the side, problem is the chicken nuggets while alright werent that great and they did not add that much to the experience. in otherwords if I where to go to that fast food joint again. I'd stick with the burger and skip them nuggets. good dlc adds to the experience and isn't mediocre fodder Back with actually game comparisons First of all radiant dawn costed 60$ and it was at least 1 year or two later so everyone could join the party. I'd rather pay 60$ for an actual game in wich the story actually adds some value not to mention excellent gameplay. The money excuse isnt there dlc is paying more for less content. and mostly content that isnt even that good with very few exceptions. Only for the most die hard fans is it an option and even than they might feel a bit empty after playing it. The dlc in all past fire emblem games where like fodder. awakening, valentia, fates. btw the bathhouse dlc etc isnt even that sexy it's a game after all if you really need it that badly commision some stuff from an artist or look some stuff up online. so that sex sells i don't buy it with dlc unless your in it for them lines. the dlc in especially the 3ds titles was a total mess. trash lvl story some fan service some easy items surpassing the base game costs fantastic. tree houses is maybe the best deal for a modern fe game dlc since it is only 25$ compared to the 3ds titles surpassing that value but even than it's an inflated price compared to the base game and the content isnt that notable. That's how dlc works I get that but it's a shame really. 2nd of all could you imagine games like mario galaxy 2 being dlc instead Shorter development time means just a few added galaxies lesser content for an inflated price. that's what dlc does. less time to produce some additional product for an inflated price compared to the base game. Could you imagine radiant dawn actually being modern day dlc in path of radiance? The story would absolutely suck and the content would be rushed. Radiant dawn could have been total garbage if they where to go the modern dlc route on that one. you would get way less. radiant dawn as dlc could have been a bad after taste instead of the excellent game that we luckily got when dlc was non existent for console games. Also games being more pricy if everything was included from the get go? are the nes to ps2 and wii era a joke? how the *** did nintendo sony and xbox get this big in the first place. the old system wasnt a problem at all. Sure nowdays they smell more money but this system of additional revenue and being greedy to hold stuff back wasn't needed for nice profits. Sure they need to make money but saying that dlc is essential to stay afloat is just being ignorant. literally every console generation was succesfull withouth dlc prior to the last 2 gens. also gacha games are another lvl of bad in terms of value so dlc is god lvl of generous compared to that. relying on whales to make a profit. that's just abusing some people to spend hundreds if not thousands on a very inflated experience. so a ton of people can enjoy the game for free. a dumbed down experience with some fan service but a free game nonetheless at the cost of the people with them spending problems. There is a reason why multiple countries are starting to ban games such as feh heroes. It's not a fair business strategy to rely on such people. Nintendo had big succes with the nes snes and gameboy gba era And do I need to remind you that nintendo's most profitable era by far was Nintendo ds and wii era with zero dlc at all Ps2 and psp same thing If game devs really want to gain more revenue stick with collectors editions or merchandice for those die hard fans imo.
  3. dlc became a mess starting from awakening. the dlc came close or surpassed the base game for seperate chapters wich in pretty much all cases where just fodder. I miss the old days Fire emblem path of radiance storyline was a bit to long for one game so we got dlc it's called radiant dawn. Why can't we go this route anymore, that way the added story line isn't extra fodder but actually a solid experience. dlc in a ton of cases is such bad value and especially in rpg's it's not to great. rpg's add stories that really feel like they tried to tape it onto the main story postgame it doesnt fit or is very meh just to make some extra cash, fanservice like hotsprings bathhouse dlc, easy equips and exp. yea right titles like radiant historia where so good with that dlc. it's trash and usually surpassing the base game in costs aswell. the extra content for such games is usually pretty forgettable. BOTW dlc was actually pretty good but even than it kinda stings since all the dlc was done before the game was released. and now even small titles like luigi's mansion have dlc. the best case scenario is a sizable chunk of content for 20 to 30$ these days.
  4. Matchmaking a thing in all of fire emblem howso? In my experience the matchmaking in the older games It was just there on the side aside from the most canon relationships with the story it's pretty missable, most people would probably not even bother with it. The main appeal of the past games was it's gameplay and in a lesser degree the cheesy story line there was not much stuff to work with. FE path of radiance with one of the larger support systems in a (classic) fire emblem game for the most part barely any romance at all. it is very limited Fe radiant dawn. support system slaughtered compared to path of radiance. FE shadow dragon had some stuff going with some canon relations ships and some things on the side, however that game had zero support conversations. FE sacred stones sure we got some stuff there with some memes if you looked hard enough. however again very limited support conversations only limited to 5 per character. so you could only get 5 c supports 1 B and 1A or 2B and 1C you get the picture FE blazing sword in terms of relationships less sauce than sacred stones but with the same limited support system geanology of the holy war marriage and the next generation of kids fighting the war. I can hardly count that as fanservice it was fitting of the story rather than to be there for fanservice I can hardly count that. Can we like not forget that supports in all of the above games are all very minor parts of the game requiring very little time at all, a pretty small part of the game. Awakening onwards though. avatar can S support all characters love confessions. tons of other characters have S support with each other aswell. how can I make the perfect kids. and you might say that tree houses toned it down however as a trade off your training your student in a school experience Sure awakening and fates had supports. fates had a bit more than that aswell. but tree houses had student activities eating singing with your students etc just a different kinda fetish really wich takes up a more sizable chunk of the game than past releases. TBH It's not even close tree houses kinda blew the support and team building thing to heavy proportions a way more sizable chunk of the game compared to even fates. Shipping mainly became a thing in awakening onwards. it was more in your face about it and it became a sizable chunk of the game to create the perfect kids for some while in past games it was there on the side usually very limited most people kinda forget about it and it had little impact on the gameplay. Sure marth caeda is a thing. Seth eirika, some husband and wife duo's you name it big deal sure part of the story interesting. it was there but the shipping wars was really niche with pre awakening games before awakening happened. Revealing outfits naturally classic fire emblem was either pixels or early 3d. so naturally that's going to go up a bit in them modern releases but that's not that big of a deal really. I will say though classic fire emblem art I kinda liked it allot better than the current more generic anime art. it was somehwat less anime looking if where talking fe games released before awakening. if where talking character models portraits. Fire emblem always had a certain art style to it. it wasnt as anime looking it stood out i really liked that. awakening sadly changed that to make a hell lot more generic anime like a ton of rpg's. and tree houses once again a step above that. It's not bad but it's a shame that fe could not keep the more old less anime art work for them models and portraits. FE valentia of one of the newer titles was a step in the right direction to make it more like the old art style so there was that in terms of character art. if where talking some cg or official art work scenes in the older games I loved them cg's and some of the official art. Some pieces almost looked like a painting. They where awesome ] ]
  5. those overly busy and trashy designs but especially the expanded support conversations and marriages with all the female members saved the franchise though. IS gave the people what they wanted and the sales have been better than ever. prior to awakening with the expanded support conversations and the avatar system for them S supports the sales where really bad. sales where maybe only a couple 100K per title?
  6. well games like grand fate order or pokemon go do not follow that rule though Pokemon go made more money in 2019 than 2016 the previous best earning year in wich it was hyped and played by a sizable chunk of the world. yet with a fraction of its playerbase left in 2019 the revenue is higher than it was when streets where filled with pokemon go sheeps. Pokemon go messed with rarity of certain mons and added more micro transaction features aka deeper holes for them whales to spend more money. https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/10/21060877/pokemon-go-record-revenue-2019-niantic-labs-ar-growth eitherway though even 50 million would be profitable for this game can't imagine this game costing more than a normal game, unless they invest a ton in advertising. also everytime they invest a bit for those small updates in fe heroes it's yet another wave of income from them whales to complete the collection. a few jpegs and some voice lines can't break the bank to much. I mean a game only costs 40 to 60$ brand new. a few jpegs and some voice lines is a 100 - 500$ bill per whale per update? why invest millions to create a full game when you only have to draw some jpegs with voice lines instead and multiply those earnings for a fraction of the cost. also if where talking voice actors from what i've heard it's tops 100$ - 200$ per full character heck I have even heard smaller jobs cost 20$ each. so them voice lines are pocket change as far as the english part goes where not talking big money here. voice actor jobs in english are a ton of 20$ bills per role. and considering FE heroes this isn't a long anime in wich voice actors actually have to voice for a sizable amount of time. so 20 to 50$ per character dubs might not be out of the question. if where talking actual content the game is dirt cheap the only real costs are the people that are maintaining the game atm since it's online and with some updates. Full games dont have that so it could surpass base game costs if it runs long enough. however every update means a new wave of revenue something that full games dont have so the costs are not that much of an issue unless they advertise a ton. advertising is probably the most pricy aspect if where talking game cost. Is that a good thing though? imo not really I'd rather have a full game in wich the costs of a game are mainly in the development time of the gameitself instead of people maintaining it and for big time advertisment if where talking fe heroes.
  7. some skin showing on horseback does it truly matter it's a fantasy game and in terms of fanservice that's super minor stuff really. where talking about a games in wich we fight monsters, dragons pegasus knights and tranforming beasts. people throwing fireballs and lighting bolts it doesnt matter if such minor details are a bit off with reality. not to mention that the fanservice on horseback is way less visible I wouldnt even call that fanservice especially ingame. you can only really see that in the official art wich a ton of people didnt even see anyway in the original games that is. I personally find the high school setting in the beginning of fe tree houses and you being a teacher a bit more disturbing towards the story in terms of fanservice especially when where looking at the game stories prior to that. it's different and a ton of people love it but i wasnt a big fan of it personally. speaking of realism chalk boards wheren't invented till 1800+ let alone that fighting lessons for say knights would be anything close like what happened in tree houses. if anything is clashing with realism forget the clothing when riding on a horse, training units didnt happen in a high school esk setting like tree houses.
  8. That's some pretty interesting less visible fan service. Haven't really noticed it. The only notable fan service wich I have seen with miniskirts is for example with the female mages or especially the female sword masters in path of radiance radiant dawn. especially considering the heavy armoured woman who are usually on horseback like titania in path of radiance or minerva in shadow dragon you mean mainly the Pegasus class than? even if where talking miniskirts I'd say it's not really effective fanservice it's quite a bit less noticable on a horseback compared to an unmounted unit. fanservice nonethelss but quite allot less noticable I have to say. pretty interesting to know never paid attention to that.
  9. you have to keep in mind that fate grand order has years with 900 to over 1 billion $ of revenue per year that's surpassing feh lifetime sales by quite a bit in 1 year. so they are probably investing way more in the overall app than feh heroes considering that the earnings are way higher than fe heroes life time earnings in just 1 year. they want their biggest whale players to be satisfied with their purchase after all. Also the extra content and story lines is exactly what keep people more invested in their waifu's and husbando so if anything grand fate order absolutely abusing the pockets of their biggest whales. also the non powercreep to keep stuff relevant. abysmal rates of getting them is the key thing why the power creep is non existent otherwise people would feel ripped off. and while this is good for a free to play player them whales still want specific characters and collect em all so thanks to the terrible rates while normal players play with vanilla stuff overall. If your going the fate grand order route your biggest whales will spend way more. if that's a good thing that's up for debate but someone is going to spend when you go that route. at the end of the day it's quite a pricy experience compared to the past. while those whales played 60$ and enjoyed say a game like FF VII for their story line nowadays they might spend 5K to get 2 waifu's in grand fate order and spend 30K yearly on the game. no matter how you look at it. it's quite hard to justify such prices for a ton of people. also keep in mind that mobile games usually have way lower developement costs than some of the best games ever made and lesser gameplay. Mobile games are usually quite a bit more fan service wich the normal game rarely provides so that's the thing that might have some people spending way more. so waifu's and husbando's preferably with allot of fanservice especially with allot of lore to keep people invested into them are the main selling points for a mobile gacha. also per download the games rakes in about 300$ per person playing it on average or 500 if where going japan only. wouldt say it's the better route but the characters and the written stories about them must be pretty damm good to keep them whales invested in them so much. Naturally sony will abuse that and write some quality stuff to keep them spendings up. I highly doubt it's going to be all that pricy all things considered eitherway it's save to say that it is probably costing way less than a bigger triple AAA game on ps4 yet earning way more and having a low risk but very high reward pay off. If all mobile games could be like grand fate order it's pretty hard to justify making console games with them higher development costs and lesser earnings from a business standpoint that is Than again in the consumer department a lesser experience for a price tag that is way higher than 60$ than again it's a different experience for people who want some canon fan service of their series comparable to say merchandice collectors of series? https://www.pocketgamer.biz/asia/news/72490/sonys-fategrand-order-accumulates-over-4-billion-in-revenue/ that being said for a ton of especially smaller gacha games they say that the few$ of whales are 90% of their earnings. i would not be to suprised if that where also the case for games such as fate grand order but kinda hard to tell really. the smaller spenders in a ton of gacha games are pretty minor for a gacha game dev in comparison. majority of their income is from the small group of whales.
  10. I mean if where talking mini skirts and armoured breastplates yes i agree that's some fanservice but it is so minor that most people might not even bat an eye for that really. than again though zelda also has fanservice since ocarina of time and that actually did have some impact. every game has some kind of fanservice but it was pretty minor in the older games really even in radiant dawn and path of radiance. and yes some conversations in older games like shadow dragon aswell but not much really. personally it had less of an impact for me and it fitted the story. yea sure that's some fanservice aswell but pretty much every game has some kind of fanservice. If where talking FE Genealogy of the Holy War with kids etc the new generation. It's pretty rough to call that fanservice since it actually made sense for a medieval story instead of a high school experience in tree houses to train units. I highly doubt people where into FE4 for the romance but I could be wrong. Besides I do have to agree that in awakening onwards the fanservice increased by allot. doesnt need to be a bad thing it saved the series after all but it is kinda hard to see why it hasnt have increased. Personally pre awakening era you had to look pretty hard for fanservice. and in all honesty it was pretty missable and depending on the player you might never bother with it at all, also pretty minor when you did find it. in awakening it became noticable also by the players who usually didnt care for the story. Mini skirts are only really a bit notable in path of radiance and radiant dawn. and can we not forget that radiant dawn slaughtered the support system and that said system in a ton of fire emblem games in the past was very limited and a very minor part of the games. also path of radiance support conversations I mean Ike is not really the guy that wants to be wed people literally making jokes about him being gay if where going by that route. the support conversation in path of radiance where pretty minor. I'd say sacred stones or shadow dragon had more romantic conversations. and yes in shadow dragon caeda was the one that lured/attracted new recruits in but even when all those things are said pretty minor stuff really. I'd put radiant dawn and older games on about the same lvl as zelda fanservice some risky stuff going on in those games aswell. again some fanservice ain't bad and it can add to the experience every game has some. It's however pretty save to say that awakening onwards iccreased fanservice by quite a bit. The whole support part got bigger and that is an understatement and than there was fates we all know what that game had and I'm not even talking about camilla that game even had a feature to look characters up in scandelous clothing even when censored in the west. and even tree houses while toned down we have a whole high school simulation vibe to train our units. kinda hard to see that fit the theming of fire emblem and while it isnt a part of the whole story it's an interesting trade off if where talking fanservice compared to fates. I wouldt say it was decreased. Again nothing wrong with fanservice but denying that the fanservice hasn't increased by allot when awakening came around is pretty hard. we literally have an avatar that can date any of the opposite or same gender these days after all. is that a bad thing no but again it's an increase. obviously fire emblem warriors. kinda hard to deny that that game aint fanservice. or the wedding outfits in feh heroes Yes feh heroes is pretty minor in fanservice compared to other gacha's but if where going games and especially it's origins it's kinda hard to say that the fanservice of the older games is in the same league as it is with the modern games awakening but especiallty fates onwards and obviously mobile game fe heroes. Take my words with a grain of salt these are no facts after all just an opinion
  11. but if they want to increase profits to keep the revenue up to stabilize stuff isnt the feh pass a good thing than? obviously majority of the playerbase hates these kinds of things In say grand fate order spending a couple thousand on a girl is more common. Grand fate order seems to abuse the pockets of its biggest whales more to keep the revenue up. more money to spend before maxing stuff out. if where talking whale spendings this 10$ a month is cheap compared to that. pokemon go for example got some pre hype income nearing the golden era days once again when they added raid battles and special passes etc. paying players will have more shots to get certain things. new stuff for the whales to spend their money on. at the very end of the day they either have to increase stuff to max out on for them whales, having brand new features for whales to spend stuff on or stuff like feh pass that affects the small and bigger spenders. While the profits do seem to decrease I think the series is still highly profitable even at only 50 million yearly. again the main series only sells 2 to almost 3 million copies. unless production costs are really higher than the mainline games wich i highly doubt.
  12. isn't it normal for a mobile game to have less revenue after the starting year? pokemon go isnt immume for that to name one example. Seems pretty normal first year has top sales and that later years might remain consistent. even if the sales drop down to 100 million or even 50 million. it's still way more than the main series for less development costs. fire emblem main game sales are only a few million each after all. even at 50 million a year if consistent. dragalia lost is a succes with only over 120 million in it's total life time. even at 50 million they will keep it going. unless people actually want to spend more. fire emblem main line series even if more succesfull today only have 2 to 3 million sales. 50 million for a mobile game per year is still huge especially for what it is. you cannot all be like grand fate order revenue. it's pretty impressive for such a small series that is fire emblem.
