Fodlan is probably not in the southern hemisphere: in the library there is a worldmap, only the bottom half is visible and only one part of it has names. Neither the lands nor the geography match with Fodlan, so Fodlan should be where we cannot see (northern hemisphere). The Sreng desert feels weird though (along with Dedue's complexion).
