  1. I was like 7 or 8 years old. A friend of mine who was older than me and very tech savvy downloads an emulator in my school computer and a Pokémon Yellow rom (as I had asked him to do so). I got my starter Pikachu, then I went to Route 1, extremely excited because I wanted to catch Missingno., as it was the only pokemon I knew of. Boom, a wild Pidgey appears. I was like "What the fuck? What is this thing? Where is my Missingno?". I beat it and find a Rattata. "Why can't I find Missingno???????", then my older brother told me Missingno is a glitch and can't be found like that. I would still play that game though. I recall having a level 80 Pikachu with Thunder, Barrier/Reflect, Slam and another move whilst fighting the Elite Four.
  2. Is there a "Trainee Class" flag? If so, set it. If not, I dunno what else to say (I'm not familiar with FE8 hacking, sorry).
  3. I think for the palettes, you have to go to Franz's palettes and edit them individually. Or you could set his Soldier palette to 0, which makes it the default Soldier palette.
  4. Bump: I'm releasing the update today. It includes the following: higher quality music, Prologues I and II from Shadow Dragon (although Prologue II has a few bugs), Frey as a character (albeit unused due to bugs), and the rom itself being 48MB after patching. Since Demo 2's size exceeds 10MB, I uploaded both Demos to a Mediafire folder: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/08h61b0cprdm6/
  5. Bump: I have updated the hackrom and the music sounds a LOT better. "Trouble!" (which is used in the pre-chapter dialogue) sounds indistinguishable from how it sounds in FE11 (at least to me), although "Come, Join Us/Together We Ride!" (recruitment theme) still has a very noticeable quality drop from how it sounds in FE11.
  6. I set the Seize event to a Gate and set the coordinates properly. The event has completion flag 0x03 (Seize flag) and I set the event to a Dummy 0x1 (as it's specified in FEBuilder)
  7. I never made a map with Seize as an objective (To be fair, I guess I never really finished a map), so I'm not sure of what I did wrong. Thanks for the advice though! I'll look for a guide.
  8. I've been working on my FE1/FE11 Hybrid Remake hack, and I've noticed that it's impossible to Seize during Chapter 1. I had already noticed this and left it intentionally like that in the Demo I published, but I can't seem to fix this bug.
  9. Ah, I see. I tried to resize Jagen to fit in the "neutral portrait" part of the template, but he doesn't look good at all. I guess I'll either have to learn how to recreate his sprite, or get someone to help me (which I would have to do regardless, considering my plans for the hackrom are pretty big)
  10. Yeah, but FEBuilder's automatic color reduction left my Jagen.... A little color-less. His armor has mostly the same color, but his face is grey as you can see.
  11. Thank you! About the color thing, FEBuilder does it automatically and allows me to edit the palette, but I'll try to use my own colors.
  12. Oh yeah, I forgot that FE03 has Book 1. Although I would be left without sprites for some characters (like Wrys, or Darros)
  13. Hello, I am using FEBuilder and I'm working on my FE1/FE11 Hybrid Remake hack. (More info here: https://forums.serenesforest.net/index.php?/topic/92222-fe7-fe1fe11-hybrid-remake/) I tried to import Jagen's sprite from FE11 to FE7, but I ran into one problem (yes, I know it's importing a DS sprite to a GBA game, but I couldn't find a GBA-style Jagen sprite). Besides the color reduction that makes Jagen look quite monochrome (as it exceeds 16 colors), FEBuilder automatically assumes part of his armor to be his mouth and eyes, and so the sprite ends up a bit scrambled (Here's a screenshot) FEBuilder forced me to resize it to 128x112 (from 128x128), so that might be the issue. How can I fix this? EDIT: So apparently the GBA FE games have a "format". I'll try to do this the best I can.
  14. I went Ilia, so I can't really say about that. (Fuck Sue and Shin, Wolt is the best bow user imo, and I used Shanna quite a lot)
  15. I completed FE6 in Normal Mode. Sure, Roy was much weaker than my other units because I almost didn't use him at all before promoting (although I got him to lvl 20 in like 3 chapters). But what I'm saying is that Roy is much stronger than people usually say. He's often thought of a weak unit, but he's not weak. Sure, he can't destroy every enemy, but he can hold his own.
  16. 1. Shadow Dragon is a great FE game 2. New Mystery of the Emblem is quite possibly the best Fire Emblem game. 3. Gaiden is excellent. 4. I like Kris as both a character and a unit. 5. All of the content New Mystery added is awesome. 6. Even before promoting, Roy is still a surprisingly potent unit. 7. Draug is one of the best units in the franchise, even in his Shadow Dragon incarnation (although he's stronger in New Mystery) 8. Armor Knights are among the best classes. 9. Sacred Stones' plot at first is literally a copy of the Archanea plot (kingdom gets destroyed by it's ally (which has a VERY similar name. I mean, Gra and Grado are basically the same name), there's 5 special orbs (Sacred Stones and the Lightsphere, Darksphere, Geosphere, Lifesphere and Starsphere), and the game itself isn't very good gameplay-wise. I would definitely NOT recommend it for a newcomer; I would rather recommend FE7, or FE11 or FE12. 10. Wolt is not a bad unit. I completed FE6 (and this is before Mangs' run in which he used Wolt), and Wolt was amongst my most potent units. He's also surprisingly good at arena abusing. 11. Speaking of Archers, I consider them to be a very good class. They may have no enemy phase, but they're not gonna die if you use them properly. Just put them behind an Armor Knight. They are especially good in Gaiden. 12. The replacement units aren't really bad in FE11. Sure, they may pale in comparison to your other units, but my promoted generics were able to do some decent chip damage in Hard 5. 13. I prefer Avatars without a unique class (like Kris) over Avatars with a unique class. 14. I only like the world map if it's well implemented. 15. Shadow Dragon's art isn't that bad.
  17. Oh yes, I can add screenshots. Also thank you! I tried to give it my own twist. EDIT: Added screenshots! And yes, you can visit Villages with non-Marth units, although the houses tell you only that Marth can visit Villages, mostly to keep the script identical to FE11's script. EDIT 2: Apparently Gazzak's battle quote and death quote were set to trigger in the incomplete version of Chapter 1. I'm fixing this right now and adding death quotes as well.
  18. After quite some work (and a long break in the middle), I am proud to announce "FE1/FE11 Hybrid Remake". Now, you might be wondering why it's called a "Hybrid Remake". This hackrom is a mix between FE1 and FE11. For example, while units and classes use their FE1 bases and growths, all text comes from the English version of FE11, due to FE1 not containing much text. I also imported "Trouble!" from FE11, and I'm planning on using purely FE11 music for the hackrom. As for the game itself, there is only one chapter now, Marth Embarks (Chapter 1). The only problem is that Marth can't seize the gate (I don't know why, I tried to fix it but it doesn't work). The map is taken from an old FE1 remake, but there's a lot of differences between that hack and mine (like my hack having the units start at Level 1 instead of other levels, as well as using FE11 text.) There's also other changes: the Weapon Triangle has been removed to make the game more accurate to FE1, some classes/units have been changed (like Sheeda being able to use Swords), the Curate class replacing the Monk class from FE7 (and I attempted for it to use Bishop animations, but it most likely failed), and gave the units their own descriptions. Weapons are also identical to their FE1 counterparts (except the Bowgun, as it also poisons. It replaces the Poison Bow, but I left the poison effect on purpose so you can make Gordin more useful) Future plans for the hackrom include: Remaking the entire game Implementing Manaketes if possible FE3/FE12 Hybrid Remake as a sequel????? (Note: I might actually do this if this hack is well received) Adding some easter eggs/secrets, perhaps? BS Fire Emblem as another hack (or maybe I could include that in the hypothetical FE3/FE12 Hybrid Remake) There's also a few "instructions" for the Demo 1: Load a save in which you completed the game Select Eliwood Normal Mode (you can choose Hard but it's left unaffected) This is because Chapter 1 is in Eliwood Mode. If you pick Lyn Mode, you will enter a previous version of the chapter (that was left abandoned due to tutorials and more things). For the Demo 2, you can access Prologue I and a buggy, unfinished version of Prologue II by picking Lyn Mode. Chapter 1 is in Eliwood Mode. Here is the download link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/08h61b0cprdm6/ Here are some screenshots: (haven't changed portraits yet)
  19. Can a Triangle Attack "crit" for x9 damage?
  20. Ah, FE WOD! I know that site. I'll try to follow the strategy but... In my recent attempts, Harken is dying often, and Marcus sometimes dies as well. EDIT: Something is definitely wrong. I see the Druid (?) who is exclusive to Hard Mode, but Harken seems to have his Normal Mode stats... EDIT 2: I FINALLY WON! I had to RNG abuse a bit, but I won having talked to Jaffar and recruiting Nino!!!
  21. Oh, there's reinforcements... No wonder they didn't stop coming. I didn't notice because Fog of War. The big problem is, surprisingly, Maxime. While he might seem like a generic boss, he is fairly powerful. While he's normally not even close to being a match to Marcus, if Marcus is carrying Jaffar, Maxime doubles him with the Silver Lance, which can kill Marcus.
