  1. Some info I was able to gather from this tweet batch:

    • Their Emblem name is roughly 'Emblems of the Three Crowns'; 鼎 has an archaic meaning of 'monarchy'/'throne', and of note this would share a name with a certain English track name from 3H itself (it doesn't match in Japanese, but in that case the majority of Emblems have a two-character 'title' except for Marth and Micaiah, so it's a classical / literary way to convey the same thing). They could keep this or just go with Emblems of the Three Houses for English.
    • Nothing too exciting in the recap of the Friendly Rivalry and Lineage skills.
    • Flame Gambit sets the nine space zone immediately surrounding the target. Associated with Edelgard. Actually rather powerful as an on command Blazing Lion terrain effect, but naturally limited to random swapping of the Leaders.
    • Gambit: Sacred Shield (I think this will become Shield Gambit) is similar to its source game, except only applies to the first ranged attack received in each combat. Associated with Dimitri.
    • Gambit: Poisoned Arrows (read: Poison Gambit) applies poison after battle to the target as well as directly adjacent enemies (1 space away, so a + pattern).
    • Aymr is confirmed to be a heavy/Smash type weapon, and Dragon effective. By the way, everyone can now be a student! We knew this already, but seeing Lapis (and later Goldmary and Seadall) in the Academy Uniform is probably fulfilling someone's fanfiction quota of 'Elyos characters attending Garreg Mach' or something, haha.
    • Importantly, the Engaged Emblem is Claude this time; so Friendly Rivalry is still active even during the Engaged state. Also, the Sword Claude!Lapis had equipped before swapping to Aymr has a confirmed name (via datamine) of Georgios; it is S rank and of the Blade type (so smash / no follow up etc.).
    • The Engage Skill, Combat Arts, has the potential to be rather terrifying. All of Raging Storm / Atrocity / Fallen Star are available in the menu, though we only see the first in action. Raging Storm has an Engage turn cost of 3 (so using it will guarantee you Disengaging the next turn), but grants you the extra turn after attacking; the attack does seem to be adjacent enemies only however. Being able to use Raging Storm followed by Houses Unite (the Engage Attack) is pretty crazy irrespectively. Time to watch Atrocity deleting everything and Fallen Star giving guaranteed avoid. Yay.
    • Houses Unite we've pretty much seen already. Importantly I think the Qi Adept bonus is the same as Tetra Trick's - guaranteed Break (while the enemy was an Archer or Sniper, Edelgard!Seadall never punched them so the usual Break rules don't apply).
    • Already confirmed from DLC1's Japanese trailer, but the Sync stat boosts are in Str / Dex / Def.
    • On comparison of the male and female Leaders!Engage outfits, male is definitely emulating Dimitri while female is emulating Edelgard. Claude stays third wheeling, rip.

    Anyways, I'm interested in how does Yunaka get to 26 crit, when the weapon screen only says 18. If I remember correctly, Train To Kill only activates on defensive tile, right?

    That makes it a little less useful than I thought. I hope we can grant another revival stone when the last one is used up though

    Huh, weird, with no supports active this doesn't add up huh.

    FWIW Vincent has translated it as 'one stone max per each receiving unit', but I think we need someone a bit more fluent here...

  3. I'm kinda surprised no-one posted about Tiki...? There's a bit more info from the snippets yestertoday (idk what timezone everyone's in):

    Main takeaways:

    - she has an Emblem title (Emblem of the Manakete Princess) and Bracelet name (Bracelet of the Ancestral Divine Dragon).

    - Sync seems like it boosts HP, Def, Lck.

    - Engage skill (Transformation) does appear to be unit type / battle style dependent, as I suspected. We see Divine and Wyrm forms this time, for Alear (a Dragon type) and Ivy (as the Flying type Lindwurm). The breaths associated with this are different too; we see listings for Fire Breath (seen before with Framme? as a Fire Dragon), Ice Breath (see Jade as Ice Dragon), Flame Breath (...possibly for Fliers as Wyrm Dragon?), and then see Mist Breath (dragons as Divine Dragon, and Dragon effective as usual) as a weapon option.

    - The stat boosts during the Engage are a bit ludicrous: +10 HP, +5 to all basic parameters and Bld (so Str / Mag / Dex / Spd / Def / Res / Lck, and then Bld).

    - I'm thinking that if Eternal Claw is a high Critical attack, then Smash Tail is a smashing attack.

    - Engage Attack (Divine Dragon's Blessing) seems to only work once a map (i.e. only one Revival Stone can be given to a unit on one map).

    - Her dialogue appears to be at the completion of the Divine Paralogue.

    - Still no specifics for Starsphere's Protection growth boosts. Gotta wait until Friday for this I guess.

    It's hilarious how Abyme of all people is a boss that appears more than once. Went from the first forgettable boss to a lategame powerhouse, threw away her bulky armor and everything. I like her already.

    Spoiler

    ngl I think she was just holding back her true power; kinda wish she actually was a berserker in Ch 3 just to crush our hopes and dreams haha

    ...still only has one weapon in her inventory tho ._.

    I'm pretty sure you lose your rewind ability for a bit which is certainly a ballsy move and I enjoy it

    As far as I understand, (story):

    Spoiler

    ...the time crystal was actually dropped by Veyle after killing Lumera (whether intentionally or not, I have no idea) which explains rewind only appearing prior to Ch.4 and arguably justifies it being revoked again; but this is gutsy, not only narratively but also mechanically. We'll see if the landing sticks I guess, haha.

    A few other mechanics related things:

    Spoiler

    Apparently Normal mode might just penalise enemies with Hit -10/Avo -10 independent of all other weapon or innate stats.

    Obscurité
    14 Mt
    10 Crt
    >6 Wt (can't tell how much ofc)
    80 Hit (assuming no Hit penalty)
    0 apparent Avo penalty

    Fell Child is a Special Class considering Veyle is Lv. 25, plus the S rank tomes.

    I wonder if Dragon effective Prfs are less effective against Fell Dragons or not, given the different dragon icon color...

    We know that by chapter 17, Firene seems to be in ruins so by the looks of it

      Hide contents

    Chapter 12 will be us arriving in Solm, possibly will be the night chapter where Kagetsu got MVP after 31 turns, where we will meet Timerra and her retainers

    Then we'll probably get the desert chapter where we see Fogado as chapter 13.

    Chapter 14 could be that temple chapter where we see Seadall in his intro where he dances Ike!Alear. Hortensia and co may also join here since this is where her twt preview seems to take place

    Chapter 15 will probably be the Solm palace chapter

    Chapter 16 could be boat maps

    Then chapter 17. It might be interesting to note that we probably will still not have our emblems back since we know Zephia has Sigurd here and Griss has Celica.

    Hmm... (story / Emblem related):

    Spoiler

    Considering Horty was holding Byleth and Veyle doesn't when our initial six Emblems are turned red, it feels like the progression of Emblems here is:

    Lyn/Lucina

    If Timerra precedes Seadall, then Ike before Corrin

    Byleth depends on when Horty joins, but I actually feel the boat map in Rosado's battle intro is after the forest Escape map

    Eirika is still MIA but as far as we know she's still under Gradlon control

    I suspect the first six Emblems are still under Hounds / Gradlon control in Ch. 17 - after all there are 6 enemy commanders to defeat...

    As a comparison, Hard Ivy's stats:

    Spoiler

    52.jpg

    Which makes the stat differential:

    HP ±0
    Bld ±0
    Str +5
    Mag +1
    Dex ±0
    Spd +2
    Def +1
    Res ±0
    Lck ±0

    For some reason her Hit is +10 despite no Dex/Lck changes, unless the Killer Axe has gained a Hit boost (not completely impossible since we can Augment this ourselves); similar story with Avo +14 (4 coming from the Spd). Crt/Ddg are static.

    Oh, and also Stalwart.

    On another note... (character related spoiler):

    Spoiler

    ...is it just me, or does a certain Fell Child's eyes look particularly blood red, a hue similar to that of the Dark Emblems? Are they under control in a sense as well then?

  7. Wasn't sure where this would be best situated, but thinking back on the flyover that Digital Foundry's Engage technical preview showed, and noting the previous discussion on throwback maps on the subreddit (see here and here) and the collation on the Serenes prerelease Maps page, I went ahead and made some speculation as to where in Elyos said throwbacks are geographically:

    Spoiler

    Rvi6RBG.png
    n65K9Jx.pngZfV3FtS.png
    GvoS8Ti.pngcEF7M5g.png

    For Sigurd, I can't see an obvious place for two banks with castles to each side, with a connecting narrow stretch of land or strait.

    We don't know Marth's or Byleth's throwbacks. If Marth's is FE11 Ch. 23 (referencing his first claiming of the Falchion), then it could be somewhere in Solm given that Thabes is a desert.

    For my suspicions of Eirika's throwback map being in Elusia, you can see a bit more overgrowth on the walls of the bottomless pits, which isn't particularly evident in the original map in GBA.

    The arena is pretty much guaranteed to be Arena Ferox.

    FE9 Ch. 8 is a rocky fort landlocked by some greenery, though Engage's map emphasises the rockiness over all else, which places it quite readily in Brodia.

    I'm not certain on Corrin's throwback map, as there's another double bridge location in Firene; though I guess a river system in a U shape is close enough to a Y...? Also the sunset hue of that map throws off an exact match here.

    No clue on the island fort at this moment.

    The yurts are endemic of FE6 Ch. 20x (Sacae).

    The shrine to its west looks like the shape of the Shrine of Seals.

    The second Firenese double bridges location, though the way these are oriented, plus the mountainous surrounds, makes me think FE5 Ch. 22 is very likely here.

    I can't make out what the dark building is on the Solmic coast, but it feels a bit off the main track for the Seadall chapter.

    I think the rocky formations at the border peninsula, and the angled rocks further east, are story chapters in Solm.

    Obviously we'll find out pretty soon where these throwbacks actually reside, but I'm interested to hear if anyone else had other thoughts as to their possible locations~

    I think a bit like you. I think they just wanted to reveal, for each kingdom, the royals and their retainers. With some exceptions being

    -Anna: Because it's Anna, and it's fun, for them, to reveal she'll be in every games.

    -Yunaka: Because she have kind of a complex backstory, maybe? Maybe she's important for the story? I don't see anything else.

    -Seadall: Because he was the dancer guy, and they had to reveal there will be a dancer! Plus, He's the fortune teller and they wanted to talk about fortune telling too.

    While Jean, like you two said, seems to be completely optional and not of a great importance for the general story (and shallow for me, ahah).

    Considering that Yunaka is in a story chapter, and it appears that Seadall has Corrin and first appears as a green unit, the two of them will be encountered by all players, and thus there's reason enough to have them properly introduced.

    For males not being able to directly master seal into fliers was already know, wasn't it? We saw in the class changing video of Céline, who was in her base class, that she could only access her advanced class by master seal, and other base classes by second seal. All others advanced classes were not available because she didn't meet the requirement of being level 10 of "base class of said advanced class".

    I think a fair number of us were hoping in vain that another base class accessible by male units would be able to directly promote to the advanced fliers.

    2 minutes ago, Hiroki said:

    That makes me think that classes with multiple proficiencies have a little advantage against those who don't. It would be easier not to be broken if you have the choice between two weapons before ending your turn, than just one. Just one would force you to keep most units out of range fearing they could be broken, while in normal times you could leave them close to enemies, as they could stand one or two hit before everything become critical for them.

    This is also the reason why Leif's Adaptable is quite powerful as he'll aim to prevent a Break state where possible on defense.

    Having said that, there was that clip in Ch. 6 where the enemy didn't really capitalise on breaking Vander, and Vander was ready to counter a random lance unit that decided to attack once the Break had already cleared.

  10. 10 minutes ago, Hiroki said:

    So, from chapter 5, it will be more difficult to kill bosses. My question is when they use those revival stones, can they attack immediately or are they stun a bit?

    As I recall from watching the few clips of Ch 7 where Horty loses her first HP bar, and like one small bit of someone Overriding into Ivy's first HP bar, there's no penalty state applied when the revival crystal is used.

    ~~~
    NWR also posted the relevant screenshot for males not being able to directly Master Seal into advanced fliers:
    257.jpg
  11. I'm personally more interested to see what the actual prerequisites are for a male base class to be able to enter Wyvern / Griffin - if there is another non-flier base class, or it must be through second sealing.
    Remember that the evidence exists in most of the Emblem introduction videos where there are male wyvern knights / griffin riders.
  12. 3 hours ago, ciphertul said:
    Just to add, fairly certain Zephia is a Sword Wyvern but no idea if she has Axe or Lance secondary. Lapis has been shown as Swordmaster and Sword Paladin both are just straight Sword so she might be blue Sword only.
    Don’t forget the random Warrior Lapis at the end of Lyn’s video.
    …though I’d put that in the same category of weird reclassing as Swordmaster Etie and Mage Zelkov.
    Bruh what's with the censored crit rate, it's not even doing a good job at hiding their 100% crit XD
    English description of Blades makes it sound like they can Smash without initiating combat, while Japanese description is the opposite. That's gonna be a problem for sure. Actually, their English description is just a mess in general. "Cannot follow up, or strike first if initiating combat"? So you can follow up if foe initiates combat? Which is it!?
    I think we’ve seen in Leif’s video that heavy/smash weapons on defense didn’t effect their Smash property (visually some of the greatlance strikes are double thrusts as I recall).
    TLDR for each section of the video;
      Reveal hidden contents
    The emblem rings are big mcguffins and important to story but the emblem characters themselves are rather unimportant and have no importance outside of their introductions, including Marth even. The Somniel is where you mainly interact with them. He feels Micaiah doesn't feel like she was written by someone who played RD
    Normal, Hard and Maddening difficulties, Casual and Classic mode. Can decrease difficulty in game
    You can't passively increase you engage meter once depleted, you need to actively charge it (combat, healing). Each action=1 section
    Custom outfits for the Somniel only. Can't change Alear's hair except some F!Alear outfits have her hair in a ponytail
    Growth method option seen in JPN tweets not available at start of game so he can't comment on it
    Has played 3 chapters of maddening. Biggest change is enemies have new skills such as skills that negate break, effectiveness etc
    Was incorrect about enemy AI prioritising getting into bushes being new, he thought it was
    Dual audio available. Text is available in US English, Latin American Spanish, EU English, EU Spanish, French, Italian, German,  Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean and Japanese (I CAN HAVE MY U BACK IN ARMOUR YES)
    Stand out characters from the first 8 chapters are Yunaka and Louis. Great in writing and as units. Yunaka has a shady past and is a pathological liar but wants to turn her life around. Louis is really fun. He's kind of a weird dude who likes to people watch and likes to see people happy. Him and Yunaka have nice supports.
    Can scan 5 amiibo a day.
    Address the '10 second supports' allegation. Says that mainly sounds like the bond conversations with emblems. Actual supports are on par with the rest of the series in terms of length. Most similar to Awakening.
    He talks about Jean for a bit. He didn't expect people would care about him. Is the villager archetype of the game. You are defending his village from corrupted. Joins the army to become a better medic (his father says he'll be a burden to Alear lol)
    Talks about Somniel. We pretty much know everything so I skipped it. One thing he mentioned was that when allies wake you up, it's very ASMR and the game recommends you wear headphone. Sommie joins you in activities after you build your relationship up with him.
    Characters don't have much unique dialogue in The Somniel. The mostly talk about where they are located in the Somniel and only a few characters talk about current story events.
    Talks about poison and how it now makes it so you take more damage. Doesn't know exact numbers. Can stack three times. Lasts for entire battle unless you use antitoxen or staff.
    No zoom in option for during battle. Default option is direct control of character, you have to swap to cursor option for moving character.
    Red emblems are called Dark Emblems. Talks about him messing up with letting Hortensia kill Alfred with the Noble Rapier lol. It was his genuine first playthrough that he just happened to record so he was still learning the mechanics and new UI. Tutorial for enemy emblems says enemies can't actually engage with emblems so he presumed that Hortensia would only be able to use her tomes since the Noble Rapier is Lucina's engage weapon.
    Most bosses have revival stones. Basically extra HP bar. Makes it impossible to kill bosses in one round of combat. Show up from chapter 5.
    Weapon triangle stuff. WT seems to only influence break and has no bearing on hit, avoid or damage.
    No combat arts. Engage mechanics takes its place.
    No mention of if men can fly but am gonna see if I can ask him again on twt and will hopefully get a response.
    As I recall, when I asked him about this, the deal about class changing was on the cusp of Ch.8 (not to mention no second seals were available at that time) and thus was in a grey area of discussion; though I suppose framing the question as ‘could a master seal be used to promote to an advanced flier class as a male character’ and get a comparative screenshot for this purpose.
    On the point of poison, he thinks that the in combat stats were lowered while under the effect of poison, but wasn’t sure how to check specifically.
    Oh, so that's what that does! Thank you, Kori!
    For what it's worth, we have seen a few instances of Divine Speed + Break Defenses interactions as follows:
    a) Doesn't normally double, but Break Defenses and Divine Speed both trigger:
    Wn7safm.png
    b) Doubles, with Break Defenses after the first attack, then Divine Speed after the normal follow-up:
    XwQW0WZ.png
    Makes me wonder though about the likelihood of setting up a double where the first attack misses but the second connects while Engaged with Marth (for Divine Speed) and Break Defenses is active... (probably unlikely unless it's like Boucheron or someone, lol)
  16. For the Master Bow - the coloration of it compared with the other weapons during Tetra Trick doesn't feature the green Tron lines (they're very desaturated bright yellow) so I'm not really expecting it to appear in the Engage Weapon catalogue. As Azz says, Master Lance covers the ranged attack for Adaptable (and will make Ch 8 Ivy tricky to approach unless you (a) snipe her with Thunder or a Longbow at 3 range, (b) the fallback button of Engaging; trying to Hand Axe her would probably get her to switch to Fire since she can counter with it and not get broken).
    One could argue that Twin Strike always having Ephraim use Siegmund could imply Siegmund is never available as an Engage Weapon, and thus similarly would count as an oddity in inventory-to-Engage Attack inconsistency.
    ~~~

    I can understand the rationale for Mystical having a lot of bonus effects, given the limited class pool in the Mystical type (Celine's prf classes, Mage, Sage, High Priest only) and the relative weakness of Mystical classes' promoted skills (whatever mediocrity Spell Harmony is, and Self-Healing); but at this stage Covert feels a bit short-changed (Divine Speed adding conditional poison feels a bit weird unless you're using an archer), especially since they also have a similar restricted class pool (Alcryst's prf classes, Archer, Sniper, Thief only). Of course Astra Storm has its mega ballista effect with Covert, but hopefully there's a bit more to this type's bonus effects...

    I'm looking through all the emblem skills and it looks like some weapons are missing? I'm pretty sure I've seen Thani from Micaiah and Tyrfing from Sigurd which are not in these lists. Notably missing as well are Falchion for Marth and Binding Blade for Roy.

    Edit: Found the pictures. Seems like the emblems each give three weapons, but only two made it on this list.

    Anyways, does anyone know what the skill "Stalwart" does? I've seen it a lot on bosses. At first I thought it negates Break, but there's another Unbreakable skill already

    Was talking to the source of the other info, and apparently:

    Spoiler
    Quote

    Stalwart: Reduces damage from effectiveness.

    A few others that I asked for info on:

    Arms Shield+: When unit has weapon advantage, unit takes 5 less damage. (Normal Arms Shield appeared to reduce incoming damage by 3 in Leif's intro video.)
    Vantage+: If unit's HP is 50% or less and foe initiates combat, unit can counter before foe's first attack. (Presumably <=25% HP then for vanilla Vantage?)
    Adaptable has a [Flying] type bonus of Res+5 during combat.

    Additionally, they advised of in combat stats for Ivy with Leif's Killer Axe and Master Lance (referencing this image for base stats):

    Quote

    Killer Axe
    Ph Atk: 23
    Hit: 93
    Crit: 36
    Spd: 9
    Avo: 20
    Ddg: 4
    Rng: 1

    This seems to give me raw weapon stats of: Mt 11, Wt >9 (10 in Thracia), Hit 65 (75 in Thracia), Crt +30

    Quote

    Master Lance
    Ph Atk: 19
    Hit: 83
    Crit: 6
    Spd: 4
    Avo: 10
    Ddg: 4
    Rng: 1-2
    Consecutive attacks when initiating

    This seems to give me raw weapon stats of: Mt 7 (14 in Thracia), Wt 5 greater than the Killer axes, so >14 (16 in Thracia), Hit 55, Avo -10 (?!)

    Glad Cleric isn't inheritable, that'd be a bit ridiculous casually giving everyone bonus C staves.

  19. 2 hours ago, FashionEmblem said:

    So, if I'm interpreting this UI correctly, Anna is getting +1 to Mov, not the +5 from gallop so that's engage-exclusive (the icon for gallop is also greyed out). Canter, however, is active outside of engage and inheritable. Still, with the fairly low movement stats in this game it's not as strong an ability, so I'll dial my excitement back.

    Screen Shot 2023-01-07 at 7.21.25 PM.png

    +1 Mov is from equipping Sigurd's Ring. Canter is 2mov after taking an action.

    Correct re Gallop and Override being inactive and uninheritable (at least so far, considering Bond 10 max from footage we've seen).
