  1. Honestly I feel like the W3H Twitter marketing feels like a combination of 3H's and AoC's in its pace. Doesn't personally worry me but can totally understand how aggravating and pointless it feels at this stage in the cycle lol

What was the most recent crossover licensed musou, by the way?

On a more relevant note, although the screenshots for the battle pause menu show 'playable' circles around four characters, we haven't actually seen the HUD in-battle showing a character switch option - I wonder how they'd present the HUD to show the choice to swap between characters in this instance... (Adjutants slot just above and right of the active character's portrait)

I think you'd see either Constance's hairband or her voluminous hair behind her head if it were her.

    Characters wise

    - depending on how base game plays out, I'd probably expect some of each faction's broader scope characters as DLC if they aren't already playable on each factional route.

    - Wolves are still a toss up but if they're not in base, DLC or riot.

    - Not all that hopeful for characters outside of Fodlan and its surrounding countries.

    ===

    Content wise:

    - I'm still of the belief that similar to the conceit of Three Houses itself with its fourth route (possibly alluded to by each of the Japanese title's kanji of 風花雪月 representing a different route) that there's some additional route or story in base game, whether that be Byleth/Church focused or something else.

    - Having said that, a route DLC that explores another faction (or perhaps another alternate continuity) and provides a series of maps with it would always be welcomed. (Probably not to the same extent as the Hypothetical Routes of some of the more recent DW games)

    - History map equivalents may appear as Relic / Sacred Weapon focused mission sequences and/or Auxiliary Battles in territories beyond Fodlan's borders.

    - The usual fare of new skills / attributes / weapon level limits obviously would still apply here.

    - 3H War Phase costumes if they aren't already in base.

    - Alternate costumes for those Church aligned units that don't have a change (and if they're playable).

    ===

    Class wise:

    - What classes are unused in 3H (unless this means for NPC only classes)?

    - Honestly not sure what classes in particular, but generally in agreement with the broad-strokes selection of unique weapon + movement combinations from other games that don't exist in Fodlan -  though I think the strongest candidates are Malig Knight (though noting that Dark Flier already has the melee + magic flying niche), FE13 Dread Fighter, and maybe Bride?

  3. I think this was the last post on Army Preparations. The Marching Orders part would mainly talk about the mission select map and the pre-battle preparations (deployment and combat art / battalion selection) which hopefully goes for no more than 3 days. The Combat part would go over Issue Orders and Adjutants, which covers 2 days for these but they may very well add a third 'general' day at the start.

So possibly either new info next week (though it is Golden Week...) or they fall back on screenshots that we've seen a million times in the trailers (perhaps in combat images for the retainers?).

  4. Bow Knight

    Likelihood - 8.5

    Desire - 9

    Characters - Bernadetta, Leonie

Moveset - I'd be quite open for a mobile shoot-while-on-the-move playstyle with c1 possibly being a mounted equivalent of the infantry C1 from FEW. I'd expect the mount to be among the most acrobatic.

Skills - Bowfaire is straightforward. Maybe Fistbreaker? (I'd focus more on Deadeye related stuff on Sniper). Bowrange actually would have a purpose of extending the effective range of the AOE arrow strikes, though I'd feel like maybe the focus should be on arrow density for absolute crowd control...

Combat Arts - depending on the availability, I'd be inclined to put Hunter's Volley here over Point-Blank Volley (which would be for Sniper). A bit hard to decide what debuff bow combart arts to choose, though Encloser would be an interesting choice.

Speaking of the Ashen Wolves (or one of them at least), I've been thinking about this for a while, but I think like this unidentified character sprite that shows up in the trailer and screenshots could be a newly designed Constance. It's the mostly the blonde hair makes me think that, but maybe I'm looking too deeply into it.

I don't think anyone should be considered confirmed unless it's clear they'll be playable. Only NPC Anna is confirmed so far and we can't be sure about the others.

Speaking of, why do you list Flayn confirmed but not Jeralt? They've both been shown in the same capacity. I don't think a pre-rendered cutscene appearance should confirm anyone.

I think the burden of proof for an NPC is higher than the burden of proof for an existing PC. That said, I think a lower tier of 'confirmation' is in order for characters shown ingame or in trailers in some fashion whose playability hasn't been showcased yet. Which is to say everyone but the lords, retainers, Shez, and... Monica?

On this note, can we say Byleth is actually Confirmed given that we've only seen them in what appear to be cutscenes?

I'd probably put Monica in a tier between Bernie and Edelgard since we don't see her in action outside of a cutscene, though everything else we do see leans towards her being playable.

  7. Heh, forgot GK would use a lance given he matches the uniform of a soldier.

War Monk (+/- War Cleric I guess?)

Likelihood - 6.5, but might bump this higher if it were DLC locked (why exactly, for typical IS/KT DLC baiting I suppose)

Desire - 7. Although not particularly canon, they could make this a more mystical martial artist (and I guess add to the slightly eastern theme of some classes like Mortal Savant and even the Swordmaster line overall)

Characters - Balthus, perhaps for those brawling Marianne memes, and possibly even Annette if we consider axes as the tertiary proficiency. Probably also a crack reclass for a playable Rhea (assuming this isn't already partially covered by Archbishop or Saint)

Moveset - if Brawler / Grappler is the oppressive side of fistfighting, this would be the subversive. Still nimble with fist flurries, but with perhaps a touch more athleticism married with ki styled Cx type moves that also possibly have an AoE white magic buff? It's a bit tricky to add a reference to axes so it might be limited to whichever characters have more of an axe proficiency.

Skills - Fistfaire is self explanatory. Having them have Heal on command is probably expected. Countermagic actually would be an interesting choice on them, especially if we stack Tomebreaker as well...

Combat Arts - most certainly Pneuma Gale, Fierce Iron Fist would be a great carryover too. Perhaps even a physical Nosferatu-like combat art that siphons health on combo hit?

    What’s a Halberdier?

    https://fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Halberdier

Promoted Soldier i.e. infantry lance. The archetype has certainly been unfairly pigeoned into an enemy exclusive role far too often (like even though the infantry axes are the more immediate thought of enemy grunts, they have sizeable playable representation...)

    ===

Halberdier (or should we go all the way to Sentinel / Spear Master?)

Likelihood - 4.5. As awful as having lances only go to cavalry or pegasus is, I honestly feel like they won't stray too far from established 3H canon here. And leaving poor Dimitri alone...

Desire - 8. Conversely the lance infantry moveset is amazing (we possibly could see it for dismounted lance cavalry and pegasi, but I'd rather see it on its own merits with a full combo tree).

Characters - other than Dimitri, Ingrid / Sylvain / Ashe, Ferdinand, Leonie, maybe Lorenz, Seteth perhaps.

Moveset - something along the lines of a blend of AoC Spear Link and Oboro. Probably would still lean into a defensive sort of combat style (compared with Swordmaster / Warrior), but more mobile than Armoured Knights. I'd feel like any shield this class has would be cosmetic.

Skills - looking to both Tellius and Fateslandia here. Lancefaire perhaps, or maybe Lance Critical to contrast with Paladin. Perhaps Seal Speed? (though this wouldn't really be useful if Spd is still tied to Awakening; if it affected attack and dodge speed however...). Vengeance perhaps could be changed from a lance combat art into a skill?

Combat Arts - Pierce could be an interesting Tellius mastery skill to convert to a combat art. Otherwise Shatter Slash, Swift Strikes, Lance Jab.

  9. Dark Knight

Likelihood - 7, it's a gender neutral mounted magic wielding class. Honestly if there were some way to merge Valkyrie and Dark Knight conceptually I'd prefer that...

Desire - 7, admittedly I'd probably be more open to raising the score here if all three cavalry magical classes specialised in a different magic discipline (Valkyrie leaning Black and Dark Knight leaning Dark), but the number of *convincing* Dark Magic wielders is still rather low.

Characters - Sylvain, Hapi, maybe Lorenz (I forgot Hanneman has Riding boon, but even so he feels a bit more infantry suited)

Moveset - mounted mage moveset from FEW is a good starting point, but with less of the light based magic. Given the weak association with lance proficiency, having a lance skill somewhere would be interesting, but not necessary for all characters (Sylvain and Lorenz feel better suited to it)

Skills - Tomefaire is self evident. Canto is as I've discussed previously. Seal Res could be an on-hit debuff to enemies where subsequent magic attacks are more potent.

On 4/20/2022 at 10:57 PM, Fabulously Olivier said:

Slow Burn from Awakening could be a fun ramp-up buff that increases your Skill and Luck as you KO enemies.

This reminds me of a weapon skill in either FEW or AoC; interesting manoeuvre to lock it to a magical class...

Combat Arts - possibly a variant of Frozen Lance depending on the magical inclination of characters?

    ---

For the record, the recent Famitsu article (translation by BlackKite and further discussion on the site) suggests that the preferred classes for Hubert / Dedue / Hilda are Dark Mage / Armoured Knight / Brigand respectively.

  10. Wait, why are we saying musous are gone when:

    - the 'critical hit' cut-in (used for Warrior Specials in FEW) is still here just in the 3H style; and

I do think some sort of crit mechanic is still possibly in given the orange / cyan swirls associated with those triggering in FEW have been seen in both trailers, but the camera angles for those moments do feel more like activation of a musou...

And we still haven't really seen enough footage of an officer matchup (particularly one with an advantageous matchup) to comment on WPG at this stage.

    ===

On the point of the yellow gauges possibly not being musou meter, what is ciphertul's proposed explanation for them?

    2 hours ago, Vexal said:

...so they were likely recording on a debug build

Reviewing trailer 1, there's a few odd spots where the house leaders have blue aura but no indication that there's ?awakening meter drain, and war Dimitri also has an unusual yellow aura (though the sound could be from his picking up an item (but none of his gauges appear to rise), so this I agree with.

  11. 51 minutes ago, Fabulously Olivier said:

Do we know that there even is dismounting and that it's not just footage of Claude as an archer vs. Claude as a Barbarossa?

Admittedly it's a hypothesis, but when you compare the map state when Claude is mounted vs on foot in Trailer 1:

    1. Claude's minimap sprite is still on a wyvern in both instances (bizarrely both him on the white wyvern and while an infantry display it as Wyvern Master's sprite)

    2. The overall map state is effectively the same save for the positions of Claude, the Demonic Beast, and one random enemy with the triple up chevron (probably a flier captain).

    ==========

    Back to Dancer

Likelihood - 6/10, but only because I'm not sure from a thematic perspective how the White Heron Cup unfolds, also would we be limited to only one student taking up the mantle again? If there was a means to free it from such a unique state, I'd raise the score more (especially if we can get non students into the class)

Desire - 7/10, still a very solid class regardless and comes with possible additional utility.

Characters - if locked to the student body, Dorothea / Marianne, with maaaaaybe for Annette / a wild pick such as Ignatz. Manuela definitely if the class isn't student locked.

Moveset - I feel like Azura did the mixed melee / magic moveset better than Olivia did, but it is so that swords are the common element from FEW to this game. I still feel that swords would be the primary equipped weapon but perhaps the Cx attacks go for magic while the Rx chain stays sword focused. Perhaps they could sneak in some sort of rally effect on the Cx much like HW Sheik's harp Cx attacks granted certain self-buffs (though for a dancer I'd expect AoE and maybe not self buff)?

Skills - assuming the Dance gauge carries over, Dance is covered (but it would probably only increase Warrior and presumably Awakening gauges; if the bottom gauge is Durability that shouldn't be replenished, but it it is a cooldown gauge then it definitely should). Special Dance would add those temporary stat boosts (a la Rally) to allies during Dance. I'd take a page out of AoC and give Sword Avoid some sword of upgraded dodge (somewhat paralleling a Flurry Rush window but without copying it wholesale) though more likely just for i-frames duration rather than increased dodge distance.

Combat Arts - the class actually has a dedicated combat art in Sword Dance, which might mirror one of Olivia's Cx combos. Otherwise the magical damge type sword combat arts (Hexblade / Soulblade) and possibly also Finesse Blade.

  12. I feel a bit conflicted reviewing War Master within the vacuum of axes, as it strikes me as a common end point for Brigand/Warrior and Brawler/Grappler; in this light I'll focus on the axe side of things and save brawling related comments when the time comes (or if relevant here).

    Warrior

Likelihood - 8/10. Axes actually have a lot of diversity in the 3H class set, covering all movement types. Even so Hilda's showing off at least a Brigand like moveset so it'd be odd not to have its promotions. In the context of War Master specifically, please gender unlock it (after all AM Ch.19 allied female War Master is a thing).

    Desire - 8/10.

Characters - accounting for just Warrior, Edelgard / Hilda / Holst / Alois / Cyril, maaaaybe Petra / Ashe / Annette. No changes to this roster adding War Master consideration to the mix.

Moveset - we've seen a few snippets from Hilda's brief second reel; honestly I'd prefer a bit less of the flashy stuff that was tied with how Lissa utilised axes, and lean more into clean brutal strikes. Perhaps it could have some sort of shockwave (sort of how Dedue had one, but less 'impactful' in a sense that it'd be more a war cry or a foot slam). Regarding War Master, I feel that unless the War Monk / Cleric are included in base, that War Master will take brawling preferentially (again because there's the axe diversity) and add a few axe specific attacks into the mix.

Skills - Axefaire is straightforward. Axe Critical I think will depend on whether the Stun Gauge returns; if so I'd imagine it to boost the rate of gauge depletion while using axes, and also increasing the effect of the resulting critical hit once the gauge is depleted; and if not, as Olivier mentioned regarding axe type combat arts. Wrath I think would boost the damage from critical hits and warrior specials while <50% HP (though warrior gauge gain while <50% HP is still decent as well).

Combat Arts - Smash and Helm Splitter have global availability. War Master's Strike is specifically an Axe combat art but obviously locked to War Master - global effectiveness should be okay presuming the cooldown / durability costs are steep enough. Other combat arts are probably going to depend on the character, since even on an infantry axe there's versatility going from Armoured Strike vs Spike vs Focused Strike, for example.

  13. Honestly I feel like Relics will follow FEW Prf rules (though DoT for incompatible wielders would be accurate, given that a) there's no current indication you can change weapon, b) the upkeep required - i.e. maximal vulnerary stacking + healbot support would be incredibly detracting from the mission, and possibly c. newcomers will go 'why did my unit die after 2 minutes?', I think the negatives outweigh the positives here).

Sacred Weapons I think generally should be as per FE3H, though I'd feel like they'd keep Labraunda Edelgard locked despite there being no other reason to otherwise. Maybe for gameplay / 'balance' purposes the renewal effect on sacred weapons requires other conditions (as Olivier mentioned, or possibly lock it behind weapon rank if that is a thing)? I'd be inclined

Crest Stones I'd need to see if there's story relevance for them, but otherwise yes mission rewards (probably more for side missions though).

  14. For whatever reason I never really assumed Forrest was quite equivalent to Hero...

    Paladin

Likelihood - 9/10. As everyone else has already mentioned, an actual shame that lance cavalier was not a class in OG FEW; I believe both trailers show Kingdom (or Church) Paladins so it'd be shocking if they weren't around.

Desire - 8/10. Covers the void that the ground mounted units have (I would envision the moveset having even further melee range coverage compared with Frederick / Great Knight).
Characters - Jeralt if playable, the Three Nobles (Ferdie / Sylvain / Lorenz), Ingrid (though that pulls her out of Peg/Falcon), Dimitri (though I suspect most will go Sylvain or Ingrid for AG mounted unit), I guess Leonie as well?

Moveset - we know that for Claude at least Wyvern Master can dismount, so I'm going to assume that this class would as well. Mounted I would expect nothing less than a lance moveset, which could have some more broad sweeping attacks reminiscent of DW titles; though thrusts and helm splitting motions are a must as well. Preferably less horse acrobatics (save that for the bow knights lol). Dismounted, I'm a bit torn - a sword moveset would provide a swifter response, but we're otherwise lacking in non-mounted lance movesets that aren't Dimitri or armoured; though I'd probably be inclined to go lance here. Mobility wise while mounted would probably be somewhere between Xander/Mage cav and Freddy level?

Skills - Lancefaire is straightforward. I don't know how Canto would really function, unless it was 'cancel your attacking forward momentum with a sudden retreat that doesn't require a turning circle's movement'. Terrain Resistance would be interesting if there's an Ailell stage or some other maps with poison swamp etc. (though this might just make it more advantageous to deploy fliers / mounts for said map). Aegis is straightforward enough - on that note, I'm not sure if monster damage would fall exclusively under what is covered by Aegis or Pavise (it... doesn't seem to be considered in OG FEW??). If we include Desperation from Cavalier, that could function as an attack speed boost at low HP (perhaps even more so than the usual speed boost such as with FEW Astra)?

Combat Arts - Tempest Lance feels like a shoo-in though it's obviously not a class locked situation. Hit and Run could be interesting if the horses do 2D sprite era acrobatics and leap significantly backwards after the art is performed... Lance Jab and Swift Strikes feel closer to moveset attacks. If we consider dismounted sword arts, see Hero.

  15. 41 minutes ago, Fabulously Olivier said:

You don't think that running out of bios for confirmed characters would coincide with new trailers/demo? Because character reveals through bios would be anticlimactic.

What was the pre-release cycle for the students for 3H itself?

It depends if they do an AoC styled character reveal approach (still plausible) - but I'd feel like some other information would need to come along with it.

I'm expecting one more major trailer at the one month mark (similar timing as the timeskip trailer for 3H), and I guess if a demo is in the works that would be timed for then as well.

  16. Honestly I feel once the leaders are covered, they'll either go for trailer shots of the characters like they did towards the end of March, or possibly swerve to game system related shots for a few weeks (the last block of trailer shots was over a period of 13 days from March 7-19), before the next info trickle.

Even if we consider just the base game students only, it's very easy to cover 18 of them in an over 60 day period; though I'd hope that if that approach were taken they'd consider alternating student profiles with screenshots of them in game each day.

And there's still the question of characters like Monica / other unique but possibly NPCs like Holst / Bergliez / etc...

  17. Gremory

Likelihood - solid 9, arguably the definitive magical master class of 3H. Having a male equivalent with equal costume extravagance would be appreciated, but unfortunately I expect the guys to get shafted here.

Desire - 7. Most of this hinges on the moveset execution.

Characters - flexible for quite a few characters - I personally feel Lysithea / Mercedes / Dorothea pull the look off the best (add Constance if she's in). Male choice probably boil down to Hubert, and then a very crack choice of Sylvain.

Moveset - seeing Hubert holding a tome makes it almost certain that a physical tome will be present. It's hard to know what the mage movesets are going to look like, though I'd expect something covering at least higher tiers of the offensive white and black magic; but noting Lysithea is a dark magic exclusive practitioner when it comes to her Reason, perhaps the innate magic inclinations of each character might influence their combo strings? Given what we've seen of Hubert's Dark Mage moveset, maybe shift to a crowd clearing focus (Hubert's attacks feel more tailored to ensnaring and locking down enemies at first glance).

Skills - the increased Magic Uses x2 feel like both a cooldown and durability reduction. Defiant Mag is obvious enough (as previously discussed re Defiant Str). Would this class inherit Mage's Fiendish Blow (or perhaps a more potent version of the same)? (actually should we discuss the skills of lower tier classes on the class tree in this situation?)

Importantly I think having a higher tier Heal (whether Recover or Physic, though I'm not sure what the practical differences would be in a Musou setting would be - perhaps the latter doesn't require the healer to be in the immediate vicinity of the target?) would ensure that the non offensive Faith aspect is covered.

Combat Arts - this is obviously going to be dependent on each character's innate skill list, but I wonder if other than boring old Fire if any others could be standardized for all Gremories.

  18. Ooh, this should prove to be an interesting topic of discussion going forward.

The sword classes overall are in an interesting spot, and I do wonder how the class progression tree for them would work out given you could arguably have all of Hero, Swordmaster / Mortal Savant, and Assassin (plus I guess Trickster including Abyss classes, and Lord for a few special cases) as end point movesets.

    But back to Hero:

Likelihood - 8/10 for being the quintessential all around physical sword unit throughout the series (though as pointed about above there are caveats). Please don't gender lock it...

Desire - 7.5/10, though I'd probably add another half-point if they make an homage to older FE titles and add a shield for use in the moveset (though not to the extent of the armoured classes).

Characters - Holst if he's playable. Honestly I'd feel like Caspar and Alois fit the best here, but could also see Leonie or possibly Petra (though she fits a more nimble sword class) as well, given that Hero isn't otherwise associated with any playable character in terms of canon class.

Moveset - definitely can see this take sword over axe. In terms of reference points from FEW, I think somewhere between the Aytolis and Ylisse sword movesets works (the dual wield moveset fits Assassin more and the rapier moveset is practically for Lords), though maybe. If the class has a non-cosmetic shield, having it used for an aerial C finisher would be an interesting touch. One could argue recycling animations with an axe but I wouldn't personally expect it.

Skills - assuming base 3H skills carry over, Swordfaire would be a specific buff in damage output using swords, Vantage I honestly am not too sure about how it would translate unless it gave some sort of intangibility if you attacked an enemy as they were attacking you in close enough proximity that you could get damaged, and Defiant Strength is a pretty standard critical health Str buff (though how useful that would be given the S rank requirement are returning, probably not too high). Possibly a higher tier Axebreaker as well if it's a sword only class.

Combat Arts could be an interesting approach, noting that most are character locked depending on weapon rank in 3H - however IIRC in FEW weapon rank is more something intrinsic to the weapon itself. Not too sure if they'll go the 3H or the FEW route here, but if the latter:

    - Wrath Strike and Grounder are available to anyone who gains sword proficiency, and we know Shez had the former equipped. Grounder has felt to me more like a dexterous combat art which might suit Swordmaster line.

    - Although such a combat art doesn't exist for swords, given this line is the heavy sword moveset, some sort of anti armour combat art would be interesting; they could also just repurpose Helm Splitter (which is an axe combat art).

  19. Finally got around to watching the whole trailer second by second (or something) and have a ...rather long analysis. I didn't really go into the opening fight between Shez and Byleth since there's not much to add other than it being a parallel to the end of Trailer 1 except with Shez getting dunked on.

    Spoiler

0:19 A remix of the Main Theme of FE3H.
0:21-0:22 This sounds like Male Shez.
0:30-0:31 Again likely Male Shez talking here.
0:32-0:37 Confirmation of a gender choice for Shez.
0:38 In terms of the player HUD, there are four separate bars: HP in green, Warrior in yellow, possibly an Awakening equivalent in white on the character portrait, and then an orange bar that's next to two sword icons. I'm speculating this is some sort of either durability or combat art timer bar. The minimap has a lot of icons similar to the first FEW with triangle matchup arrows (though they appear reversed compared with FEW; I'll bring this up later), forts / outposts / chests and captains.
0:40 Whatever this special Shez is using, it either consumes the sword icon, or disables it from being used. The orange bar is empty. The purple overlay on the sword strikes may suggest Dark element for this attack (as he has normal sword lines beforehand).
0:50 Confirming Edelgard again has a predominant Fire effect on her combos (is this an effect of her Sacred Weapon potentially?), as previously seen. Given the choice of shield she's likely in Armoured Lord class.
0:54 Confirmation of Hubert. Ferdinand appears to be facing Hubert - the pauldron is certainly reminiscent of his timeskip design.
0:55 There's a few icons on the minimap that I don't recognise, but I suspect the crowns are commanders; the warning symbol I don't recognise, and Hubert isn't in a class that can sustain effective damage right now.
1:00 Dimitri seems to be following Chrom with Thunder element (associated with Areadbhar?) and a fair amount of ground destruction in his combos.
1:04 Confirmation of Dedue now with sideburns and stubble (and minus scars).
1:06-1:07 You can see in Dedue's initial standard combo chain, the orange bar slowly recovers, and note he has a shield icon that's faded out. Immediately after this the clip changes to one where he slams his shield into the ground, expending a full orange bar and consuming one shield icon.
1:10 Claude has Wind element on his attacks (again as expected, and probably tied to the Failnaught). Interestingly he stands up on his wyvern at 1:12 during the attack.
    1:15 Confirmation of Hilda.
1:17 There are 3rd army captains on the minimap in yellow. Interestingly Hilda doesn't have an orange bar, instead having two yellow bars instead. Friekugel seems to have Thunder element, and some of these combo chains remind me of Lissa's...
1:20 On activation of Warrior Special, Hilda deplete 1.5 of those lower yellow bars and it gains that orange hue back. Her laugh at the end plus the wink really drives home the Lissa comparison to me, lol
1:23 Music change to a remixed Chasing Daybreak. Rhea seems to be torching Alliance grunts.
1:26 Hi Flayn. Immediately after this an unclear faction (though I suspect Church given the silver helmets) is assaulted by rather ominous looking dark magic circles (Agarthan?). Clearly the Empire and Church soldiers at 1:28 are terrified as well.
1:30 A blink and you'll miss it moment, but the chapter / mission seems to be called 'The Blitz of Riegan'. Assuming I'm reading the landmarks correctly, the home base for the player here is the Great Bridge of Myrddin. It looks like you need to take conquest of each zone before adjacent ones open up, on the way to the main battle marked with the golden chess piece / cross piece. There is an Anna spot in the top right zone, making me wonder if she will return to her role back in FEW (and perhaps even similar unlock criteria?).
1:33 Presumably the small tasks located in each zone only become active once the zone is conquered; and it seems likely that some of them are once only affairs (compare the far left zone nearest Myrddin and the newly captured zone with the merchant).
1:35 Note that we get 3 Advanced Seals. I know that elsewhere it's now confirmed free classing is available across the cast, but if we didn't know that it'd still be odd to accumulate this sort of number for each small event if only Shez had class changing.
1:37 Nothing new, but again the enemy level for these battles is very low which means this is a very early battle chronologically despite occurring at the conclusion of White Clouds in the source game.
1:39 There's a lot here to take in. The leftmost icons obviously represent different aspects of planning ahead of the battle to unfold, though I could only guess what most of these icons represent (the more straightforward ones seem to be the grid for Deployment, the armour for Equipment, the papers for Data - save / load, the cog for Options, the back arrow as... Back, and the crossed blades for Start Battle).
The map itself has a few icons of interest, namely green commander like icons in the middles, and triple down arrow / chevron icons surrounding them. Note that Edelgard is selected and is a Fortress Knight with 0/3 stars of what I suspect is class proficiency (more on that later). Note how she has an up arrow next to lances? This makes me wonder if the display for this is reversed compared with the original FEW where the weapon type that you had advantage against had downward arrows. I'm led to believe that the ! marks above different weapon and class types represents their frequency on the map.
Also note that Edelgard's Sacred Weapon is the Labraunda, and that she holds two healing items.
We can see Hubert's minimap icon here as well, unfortunately the fourth character is obscured.
Lastly, co-op is confirmed with the P2 Can Join! prompt.
On switching to Shez, you can see that you can't change him out or position him in another deployment slot. Note he has a double up arrow against axes, and the map updates to reflect the presence of a lot of them on the map. Maybe some of these axe units have armour effective weapons, and that is why Edelgard has three downward arrows against them? Note Shez's unique class of Fluegel (pointed out by others as Wing in German), with a giant wreathed star - has he mastered the class?
1:40 Another massive page to analyse. Note the top options of Set Equipment / Set Abilities / Change Class (the last being another clue to class changing being probably applicable to more than just Shez, but again we already have confirmation it's global). Interestingly, there doesn't seem to be an option to actually change the weapon used on the screen we see here.
Note that equipped Combat Arts have R + (face button) as a command, which feels in line with games such as Fate/Extella Link and I believe Persona 5 Strikers? The use of a grid showing the effective range of Combat Arts is a cute nod to how Gambits displayed AND how technically characters fit on a grid in FE3H (though no-one ever actually zoomed in that far to play the maps, lol). Might is a straightforward abstract representation of damage, the icons on the right are probably abilities or effects - the Wrath Strike one somewhat resembles the Fang Crest (damage through guard), and the Windsweep one like is just Wind element. More interestingly is Cooldown Time and Durability Cost, of which the former is clear to understand, but the latter isn't. There's no indication of a weapon break mechanic so far, so what exactly does durability represent? And if it is the orange bar, why can it recover itself over time? Firesweep has Fire element and Blizzard the Ice element. I believe Blizzard has the same effective range as how the spell appeared in FE3H.
1:42 Battalions return along with Authority; how exactly isn't clear in this trailer itself (the previous trailer showing Claude fighting a Demonic Beast might have those Alliance troops as his Battalion). Endurance doesn't at yet appear to have a tangible representation.
Note how assigning the Empire Warriors (an Axe battalion) gives Shez Resist Lances, which covers the natural disadvantage Swords have against Lances. This might be why in the earlier map screen, Shez did not have weakness to Lance wielding enemies.
Switching to Empire Duelists (Sword battalion) changes this to Resist Axes, if for whatever reason you wanted to absolutely dominate Axes as a Sword unit.
1:44 I know I'm not liking this giant popup for a main mission. Here's hoping we can minimise it like in the original FEW. Edelgard appears to be in the top left of the map. I'm not too sure what the purple squares represent.
1:47 A few things: you can briefly see Edelgard here is an Armoured Lord. Then the active character switches to Monica (!!) as a Mage. Note that there is a Guard option just before the Other menu is opened, that has a blue icon with a character holding a sword; this is also present on the All-Out Defense option (is this to set Monica to stick with Edelgard and defend her once you switch to another character?). Note the option of Assign to Adjutant (this will be brought up later). The video continues to show Monica selecting Heal, with the icon of her Order to heal Edelgard appearing accordingly; the icon is similar to how I recall it in the original FEW.
The character with the bow above + Return to Battle is most likely Bernadetta, which you can tell by her distinctive embroidered shoulder which is also present on her timeskip minimap icon in FE3H.
There are coloured pots in green, yellow and orange, which may correlate to refills for HP / Warrior gauge / whatever the orange gauge is.
You can see the objective targets circled in green.
1:48 Monica has Wind Caller's Genesis as her weapon, which raises a few questions about if she has a Crest (specifically, of Macuil), and why is there a Sacred Weapon associated with Macuil. The other character in the Crooked Highroad stronghold appears to be a generic Mage or Cleric, but note they are not circled in blue and thus not a playable character.
1:50 This is the image from the Amazon JP page. Again, not too sure what the battle forecast is actually reflecting. Note that in this battle Shez has NOT mastered Fluegel.
1:51 Claude becomes Shez's adjutant. Given that R at least has a different function (for Combat Arts), I wonder what the button input setting the Adjutant would be on the battle screen. The icons definitely hark back to Pair Up from the original FEW, and the subsequent footage shows both an Adjutant Attack and an Adjutant Defence in action. Both have their own cooldowns.
1:55 Partner Specials are likely just Pair Up Specials from the original FEW.
1:59-2:00 Finally we're not chained to the monastery, lol. Definitely still a Monastery analogue though. I don't think the music transition to the opening section of Chasing Daybreak is smooth but rather an overlay, but we will see.
2:03-2:04 Not too sure how exactly the Training Grounds works, but in any case it seems to improve class proficiency.
2:06-2:10 As if there weren't enough hints from before, Class Change is back, though only Shez is shown here. The Japanese website confirms it for all characters.
2:11-2:12 Hi Lorenz (with actually decent hair for once). This event seems to mimic the Group Tasks from FE3H.
2:13 Also a screenshot from Amazon JP, Mercedes (bless) with Dimitri sharing a meal with Shez.
2:15 A bit more free roaming in the Base Camp.
2:16 Transitioning to one of the sections of a Between Heaven and Earth remix.
2:20 Clearly someone of importance to Almyra, but having not played Verdant Wind I don't have any educated guesses here.
2:22 Dimitri casually no selling dark magic like he actually had a Res stat, lol.
2:23 This arm could be Rodrigue.
2:25 I wonder how Dimitri was incapacitated enough to have Shez help carry them...
A brief snippet of Edelgard and Dimitri also not in opposition here.
2:27 Monica is seen next to Shez as he chats with Edelgard.
2:29 Edelgard has a different shield here, but it's not a generic Armour Knight or Fortress Knight shield, nor her one as Armoured Lord or Emperor
2:32-2:33 Likely Holst on the basis of pink hair and a Crest of Goneril on his cape. He is fighting a light blue haired War Master who I suspect is General Bergliez.
2:34 We hear Arval speak for the first time in this trailer, while Shez has three different scenes with the house leaders.
2:40 And Arval in the flesh(?).
    2:51-2:52 Selectable Byleth gender.
2:57 Remix of The Edge of Dawn.

Overall I'm incredibly stoked as to how the game will play out from a mechanical viewpoint, as it seems to tie what made the original FEW a solid musou title together with distinctive FE3H flavour and some interesting mechanical additions (Combat Arts and whatever the hell is up with durability, Battalions), and the narrative does seem to draw a lot more inspiration from the series that this is a spinoff of(though I am wondering if there is some sort of unifying end to the three branches...)

Byleth's role is also a bit nebulous with the information we have on hand, and I currently share sentiment that it'd be odd to give them the choice of gender and then not do anything with it.

Let me know if you want a visual reference for any of the timestamps.

  20. The trailer has a lot to unpack, but before that the Japanese website also updated

    http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/fe_fs/

    Biggest things:

    - the God(dess) in Shez's head is called Arval (and the Japanese kana is literally ラルヴァ and probably is pronounced like Larva)

    - Shez's description:

    Quote

A mercenary alone on their own. Defeated by the Ashen Demon. They were in training to avenge their defeat. In the forest, they encounter a group of students from the military academy.

    - the System page confirms free classing (as Olivier mentioned in the other topic), and a three phase progression of game flow (Preparations which is basically like the Monastery, Marching which is that map with the option to select missions, and Combat which is the actual battles)

  21. Oops I just posted this on the other topic, but I'll bring my thoughts on the pause map screen over:

    Quote

    - purple hair OC is playable, and seems to be an Assassin if I recall my generic units sprites correctly. Not sure what the battle forecast is supposed to convey as this doesn't correlate cleanly with anything from FEW1 that I can remember

    - Axebreaker 2 as a skill. I can't tell if the targeted Fighter also has a skill (see the icon next to Attack)

    - A bunch of other allied units that... don't appear to be characters we can recognise - are they generics? At least they're likely the mission objective to be defended from the enemy Fighters. Classes seem to be Warlock, Warrior, Bishop (??), Archer

    - breakable pots in three colours (similar to HW in terms of what they'd yield for the musou / other special / health bars?) and outposts (already confirmed from previous images of the battle screen)

    Update -

I think the playable allies are circled; are people calling the cleric Edelgard? The head sprite matches the generic's. If it's the character in the middle circle (between Hubert and OC's positions) - I could buy it but the resolution's a bit too poor, and I kind of feel like her tiara isn't that triangular? Agree on Hubert.
Ashe has much greyer hair. My other thought was ??Dimitri but the hair isn't obviously yellow.

  22. Hey all,

First post here - there's been a discovery of a few interesting photos on the Amazon.co.jp listing of the game... (someone already beat me to it, oops)

    Spoiler

    61Oxz0fNi+L._AC_SL1280_.jpg

Seems to confirm Mercie and the purple hair OC in a playable capacity (see below), and meal times.

There's a fair bit to unpack here:

    - Axebreaker 2 as a skill. I can't tell if the targeted Fighter also has a skill (see the icon next to Attack)

    61Wey7IuQEL._AC_SL1280_.jpg

This doesn't seem to add much more beyond the previous Sortie Map images we've already seen.
