I'm beginning to lean more towards the first positioning as well - and I kind of like the trim, but it's not what I'd hoped it would be - a shame after the time I spent trying to get the angles and curves right, and the hours I spent studying Dei's technique with his trim shading. It didn't work at all as I'd hoped - I may hold onto it as a testament to progress however. I'm holding off on work for now, working on an entry for the splice contest. :P

Aha, seeing the username was an instant deja-vu moment. Definitely has been a while - good to see some of the oldies stuck around. :P
I can imagine - I've been frequenting the mainsite a lot since Awakening's release myself. Never really got an urge to return to the boards until last night however. -
Been a long while since I got on the spriting train - but I reopened an age old project (not really age old, but old all the same) and figured I'd work on it just last night.
I had originally started working on a redesign for my first ever OC, Zanryu (like you wouldn't have guessed), well over a year ago. The version I ended up with when I picked it back up is on the far left in the proportions limit box - the new versions are the second and third. For the most part, the face shading has been updated to FE8 standards, most of the rest has been untouched.
Currently caught between which eye positioning looks best, and working out some kinks on the neck shading. Will be overhauling the body from the head down however- I enjoyed the look of the custom armour at first, but it already lost my interest merely a few months after creating it.
Criticism would be GREATLY appreciated - really looking to get back into the swing of things and make something new. Something I can be proud of for the first time in years since I went on hiatus. :P -
Well, been quite some time once again - I'd like to thank everyone for the several birthday wishes they've left me in my absence. Brought a smile to my face coming back to see that. :P
I've mostly been absent from the Internet in general, and I recently reopened an old piece I was working on nearly two years ago now - was hoping to get some criticism and such, and couldn't seem to find anywhere active to try my luck - so I checked here and noticed a significant boom after all this time. Figured why not immerse myself again! So here I am. :) Howdy. -

Good to finally see that finished. Such a shame the first time I saw it completed was at the burial of a glorious project. :(

Excuse the double post, but this is the only way I can get any attention, apparently.
I lied. Still not done even after realizing it wasn't done and editing it.
So yeah, expect more tweaks, gotta finish the back of his head - it looks too bare and dark compared to the highlighted parts, but I can't get it to look right if I make it brighter than that. So I've got some work to do. :X

Oh, if it's a magic sword that makes more sense. Although, if memory serves magic swords more commonly have fancy-ass hilts and stuff. Although, I'm diggin' the design of your sword as a whole - no matter the rank. It looks cool. :P

I'm saying fuck special weapons, I'm keeping it to the simple formula - but with my own subtype.
You've got Swords branching to Blades? Fuck that, I'm bringin' the Silver Claymore.
Meh.
EDIT: I also must stress, the box I have around the piece is 18x18, but the sword itself fits a 16x16 box (the hilt pushes into the border, like in actual FE weapon icons).

While all the lances fit the restrictions and all seem moderately mediocre in design and use to match the C-Rank specification, Acey has by far the most original concept (though, how original can a lance get? Shaft, head, done.) Now, a while this is more of a glave than it is a lance, glaves can be generally considered an archetype for lances - furthermore, lance wielding foot soldiers in Radiant Dawn also swung their lances; a glaive would make this motion more effective than swinging a piercing weapon.
tl;dr
Most unique concept, well done, and the concept also favors practicalities.

I haven't spoken to him in quite some time - it's strange. After talking to him almost every day for three years, I haven't heard from him in at least one. Wonder what he's up to...
