  1. Brom isn't exactly going to double-attack anything, you know. Brom weakens, Nephenee kills. Best strategy. And we're trying to beat it in 6 turns because...? Unlike Easy and Normal, Mordecai can't kill most of the enemies in a single hit, and isn't fast enough to double. He attacks, Nephenee finishes them off. You're not exactly ever going to be using Brom, Lethe and Nealuchi again either way. Mordecai, Nephenee, Brom, Leanne and Lethe take the south path, Lucia solos the north. 2-E is irrelevant. Depends how you want to play it. I agree that Aran > Edward/Zihark.
  2. I fancy trying one of these. My guidelines: - 12 pre-C:27 units (excluding Ike) - At least 5 must join before C:17 - At least 3 must join before C:11 - At least 1 Mage/Sage/Healer please. - 1 choice per user please Going to do this on Normal, I think. Easy just feels like cheating. Units: 1. Elincia 2. Rhys 3. Mist 4. Largo 5. Soren 6. Makalov 7. Mia 8. Jill 9. Muarim 10. Brom 11. Janaff 12. Marcia
  3. lolfanfiction Either way, you're making a big deal out of nothing.
  4. Hmm...maybe I used PoR transfer data, I can't remember. But she does well with or without. Plus, it's really easy for her to gain levels in 2-E, too. Stand her on the ledge above where the wall breaks and throw Javelins at the enemies below for the entire chapter. She'll easily gain 3-4 levels throughout the course of the chapter. Whether or not she kills the enemies is irrelevant - in Hard mode the amount of Exp you get for merely battling enemies is pretty similar to what you get for killing them anyway (unless you don't hit them). As far as Lance users in Ike's team go, she's a better option than Gatrie, and has plenty of time to build an A support with any member of Ike's uber crew. Also, if my memory serves me correctly, Nephenee's base Strength (without PoR data) is 17. Stl Greatlance has a weight of 18. That hardly weighs her down. Aran is good with Volug support. +30 Avoid (I think) combined with his Defence makes him awesome in 3-6 and 3-13, but you can't realistically train up three unpromoted units in Part 1 (I know I said I use Micaiah in addition to Nolan and Jill but Micaiah at least can one-shot some common enemy types, which include some bosses, with Thani). Really, if you use both Nephenee and Aran throughout the game, Nephenee is going to be much faster, and at a higher level, thus Aran really isn't worth it. Jill and Nolan will both outclass Haar and Boyd, respectively, at third tier. Aran won't outclass Nephenee. Therefore, the choice is simple. I've tried them both in Hard mode, and that's the conclusion I came to. Oh well...if you don't like Nephenee and cba to train Aran, you can always use Devdan (LOL!).
  5. Okay, next time I play through Hard mode, I will trying using Volug and ignoring Micaiah. Won't be for a while now (halfway through a Normal mode playthrough atm and am itching to play PoR afterwards) but I'll give it a go.
  6. A) I see little need to do so. He's good as a support unit in Part 1 and 3. That's about it. I see no reason to use him over 4-E units (one of which has to be Micaiah anyway). Plus he suffers from 'transform metre', and in a team with so few good units it isn't exactly handy for one you've made your team so reliant upon to be eating Olivi Grass every other turn. B) + C) Failing to make any sense of what you said, other than the fact that you seem to want to clear Part 1 as quickly possible (and it isn't exactly 'hell'...play through it with the right strategies and it isn't all that bad) D) Her tome is, therefore she is, so I don't see what you're getting at. Nobody else can use that tome. Since most members of Micaiah's team can't reliably double-attack/ORKO, she can finish enemies off as well as anyone. E) Using her purely as a healer is fine. Unless you level her up a whole lot though, she isn't exactly going to be a great one (especially if you don't use her at all in Part 1). F) Aside from Janaff/Ulki/Skrimir, I don't find non-royal offensive laguz to be very useful. The only laguz going into the final chapter are royals. Bringing any others is pointless as high-trained Beorc with high stats and uber weapons are going to do much better there. G) Completely dependant on her Speed growth. I'll agree it's unreliable, but then again Ike has exactly the same Speed growth yet nobody moans about his (yes, I am aware his base Speed is good, but if his growth messes up he's not going to enjoy it). H) An extra attacking option doesn't hurt especially since she's an essential unit. And 4-E-3 isn't very difficult even if you don't rush straight to Deghinsea... Long story short, I've never had much trouble training and using Micaiah in Hard mdoe.
  7. The issue arises: (a)Is there anywhere I can actually purchase the Japanese game? (b) Is it going to cost a stupid amount of money? I don't really see the point if it's going to be really expensive, and PAL copies can go for over £100 these days.
  8. Coming from someone who wastes DB's precious Exp trying to increase Volug's Strike rank, I'll take that as a compliment :) Micaiah always turns out fine for me in Hard mode. She works very well as a General/Mounted Knight assassin, and is a great healer when she promotes. Whether you use her as an attacker and a healer or a dedicated healer depends on her growths, but oddly I've never had trouble with her Speed in Hard mode. Plus, she can wield Rexaura and is the only real candidate to do so.
  9. Uh, yes. In Hard mode, by a long shot. Nephenee just has excellent availability and can more loss double everything off the bat, meaning she's a very useful unit throughout the whole gam. Aran has good Defence, something Micaiah's team sorely lacks, but due to DB's Exp and BExp shortages you can only realistically raise three units, one of which pretty much has to be Micaiah, and the other two should be Nolan and Jill, meaning you have to sacrifice one of them for a unit who seriously struggles on the Speed front. Aran can be awesome if trained, but Nephenee will end up just as good with the bonus of being much easier to raise to an adequate level by Part 4.
  10. Well, look at it this way, Mist only had one line. At least it wasn't like Sephiran where he practically narrated eight or so flashbacks.
  11. Really? I just think it's meant to be nothing more than humorous content and nothing anyone should look too much into.
  12. Well, the only major difference between Nolan and Jill is that Jill's a flying unit. They are both awesome at third tier and have so much room to grow. In Hard mode I just focus on training up those two + Micaiah. Edward is too fragile to be a contender for DB's limited Exp, plus you can just use Mia instead (or maybe even Zihark but it depends on his Str growth). Aran can turn out awesome despite early Speed problems but will only ever be as good as Nephenee, who is so much easier to raise that she pretty much leaves Aran surplus to requirements. Jill will still do quite well and can still probably turn out better than Haar if you use a Master Seal before she hits level 20 but I don't feel it's worth it.
  13. ...don't use a Master Seal on Jill. Don't even CONSIDER using a Master Seal on Jill. Unless she's level 20, in which case use a Master Seal on Jill to prevent wasting Exp. Or unless you're happy to ruin the best Beorc unit in the entire game just to save a few NPCs.
  14. Goran - Nice base stats, Warriors kick ass. However, I'd prefer it if, when defeated in 3-11, he'd just retreat instead of dying, and would then be available in the upcoming Micaiah chapters. It wouldn't make sense for him to join the Apostle's Army. Veyona - Base stats are nothing much to look at, but maybe he could have really good growths to make up for it? Much like Pelleas, really, only with the exception of actually being possible to raise before 4-E without wasting BExp on any difficulty not called Easy. Ludveck - I was really disappointed that he wasn't even mentioned again after Part 2. The game never really elaborated on what eventually became of him. Seemed to want the best for Crimea, thus it would possibly make sense for him to join up with the Apostle's Army. His stats were good enough for him to be usable (although the issue arises of where in Ike's team he would fit in as it's full of uber units already). Plus, he could be given some sort of ironic lulz epilogue if he has an A support with Lucia. Maybes: Levail - Pretty much the Shiharam of Radiant Dawn. In other words, a boss you don't want to kill but have no choice (well, you do with Levail, but not killing him does nothing to alter the story and it means you don't get the best weapon in the game). Character-wise, it would be understandable if he joined up with Ike and Micaiah, since he's a decent chap who probably doesn't want the world to be destroyed and all that. Septimus - Gotta feel sorry for this guy, and he ain't that bad a unit. Of course, you couldn't imagine him joining up with the sub-humans, could you? Catalena - If recruited, she'd actually be usable, unlike the other Pegasus Knights (exception - Easy mode, as always), as she has good stats. Unfortunately, she's a psychotic zealot in favour of the wrong goddess.
  15. I didn't actually remember Ike speaking in Brawl except for "Aether!", but because he was pretty mediocre I never played as him (pretty much the same as Roy in Melee: completely outclassed by Marth in almost all aspects). So I checked it out, and good gracious me his lines were God-awful and made worse by Adkins once again being an inadequate voice actor.
  16. Nope, not played that. I was thinking more along the lines of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. American accents worked fine in it, even if one or two lines ("dilly dally shilly shally", for example) were a bit crap (more to do with stupid dialogue rather than accents...I mean, if I were a voice actor, I'd cringe at saying "dilly dally shilly shally" in what is supposed to be a serious conversation). Of course, the reason I think American accents worked fine is because it has a more or less modern setting.
  17. 1-6-2: Send Tauroneo over the western bridge and up to the boss. He should get within his range in four turns I think. Equip him with a Javelin so that he two-shots the boss. 1-8: Tried it once, almost impossible. Like the guy above said, kill the Wyvern Riders with Tormod + Elthunder. Rescue prisoners with Muarim, Vika, Volug and Nailah. Rafiel will need to be used, and your remaining units will have a tough time against all the enemies heading in their direction. Seriously not recommended in either chapter, particularly 1-6-2 which is fairly easy for a Micaiah chapter and great for getting Exp. 1-8 just too easily leads to one of Micaiah, Sothe, Nolan or Zihark dying because to many units are off rescuing prisoners, although it's great if you fancy a real challenge.
  18. :D Thank you for letting me know. I will look into it.
  19. I'm from Wales, and usually dialogue presents itself in my head as somewhere between Welsh and English. Naturally, as a University student, I have a very weak accent so I guess that's where it fits in. In general, when people read dialogue it subconsciously presents itself in their mind with their own accent or something similar. But when it comes to acting/voice acting, to me there are certain ones that work.
  20. I found the part where Greil actually dies to be more emotional. He was still alive when the cut-scene ended. Budgeting reasons, probably. Plus the fact that Fire Emblem is a relatively unknown series that mostly maintains a cult following. That's exactly what's wrong with it. I said it on the first page,American accents simply don't work in the fantasy genre (with one or two exceptions, but Fire Emblem certainly isn't one of them). Some Americans might not find it such a big deal, which I'm guessing is where you come in. But there's a very good reason Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones etc don't feature American accents - it just doesn't seem believable or right. For the record, I don't have anything against American accents or anything. Like any accent, they shouldn't be used where they don't work, and they don't work in Fire Emblem.
  21. Some kind of natural disaster involving climate will most likely mess up technological advancement, methinks. Hopefully the world won't continue getting warmer, though. As someone who is interested in Arctic, sub-Arctic, and Antarctica ecosystems, and a personal fan of cold weather > hot weather, the world getting colder would be nicer, much nicer. Like it was in the Medieval period. Am I the only one who thinks the record-breaking winter of two years ago (and the fact that our last three winters have been colder than they have been in decades) isn't pointing to something like this happening? I think a nuclear fallout that wipes out all life on our planet bar cockroaches and twinkies is highly unlikely. Don't think it's going to happen, myself. Large-scale space travel is also highly unlikely, I'll say. And personally, I don't believe in it. Earth is where we, as humans and natives of this planet, belong.
  22. Yeah, the whole 'Ike leaving Tellius forever and never being seen again' thing was a bit...off. I wasn't sure if I liked it. Not that I thought he should have a happily ever after ending or anything, but given that he was good friends with just about the entire main cast that survived RD, it was a bit weird. True he wasn't exactly Mr. Personality, but at least he had something of a sense of humour (however dry).
  23. I guess you could consider that a valid argument if you ignore the facts that he mumbled too much (mostly in PoR), did the battle grunts poorly, and his accent was awful. Then again, you can't really expect too much from someone whose primary profession is supposedly an athlete, and had never before done anything involving acting or voice acting (IMDB shows a couple of unknown films and shorts since FE).
  24. ^Exactly. Naturally, their bodies will have decayed beyond use in the 3.5 - 4 years since their deaths. In terms of Greil and Shiharam, it would ruin the entire emotional premise of PoR. Since RD rendered PoR's storyline a waste of time anyway (the one thing I didn't like about RD), why ruin what remaining impact it had on the Tellius series. An "Ike and Jill lived happily ever after with their revived respective fathers" ending would ruin it completely. I've long said the same thing to people moaning about how you can't revive Aeris (by legit means) in Final Fantasy VII. The story wouldn't be half as good if it were possible. It would utterly ruin the emotional atmosphere. The same goes for Boromir in Lord of the Rings, Ned in Game of Thrones, Sirius and Fred in Harry Potter etc. Killing off characters who the reader doesn't want to die is almost necessary in a powerful dramatic story. As for Bryce and Petrine...RD revived two of the Four Riders, and they were the two who could definitely have been expanded upon in a sequel game anyway. Bryce and Petrine's characters were pretty much covered in PoR,. Perhaps Bryce didn't get as much screentime as he probably deserved but it's not as if he was a complex character or anything. They are both dead, and if RD did actually revive them, I'd have preferred it if they had stayed dead. They would have done nothing to advance RD's story. Also, in response to what one guy above me said, that their deaths were unconfirmed because they weren't shown in animations...well, in Chapter 24 or 25 or thereabouts (I forgot) the Black Knight informs Ashard that "General Petrine's men have captured Ena, but with the general's death they are unsure of what to do with her". Pretty much confirms Petrine's death if her death speech didn't. As for Bryce...his death speech concludes that he dies after it, especially if you kill him with Ike.
