  1. For those interested, there seems to be some preliminary sales numbers available here. I do not know how reliable they are but it could be something interesting to talk about with regards to the future of the Echoes series: http://www.siliconera.com/2017/04/26/week-sales-fire-emblem-echoes-retells-gaiden/ Edit: Did not realize there was a pre-existing thread for this. Apologies.
  2. By any chance, would anyone happen to have the Bowfaire skill on their Corrin? My thanks in advance.
  3. You've my thanks. I did not realize how few people must use that skill.
  4. Does anyone have bow breaker on their avatar? I cannot find a castle with it for the life of me.
  5. Don't put words in my mouth, I beg. I suggested nothing beyond exactly what I said. Any misinterpretations on your part are no fault of my own. Never once in the entirety of my posts did I come anywhere near to saying that my opinion was the objective one and as such, no one else should bother posting. If that's what I wanted to say, I assure you, I would have just done so rather than mince words. It's almost as if you deliberately twisted my words so as to suit your own purposes. As I stated previously, the goal of my post was to remind some folks that fire emblem is a fantasy medieval game and as such, need not necessarily adhere to modern day practicalities regarding designs and aesthetics. Since the amount of armor a character dons has no effect on said character's stats, heck, even if it did, characters wear they wear first and foremost due to their designer simply wishing them to wear it. No further reasoning beyond that. Once more, as I've previously stated, you speak as if you are the defining authority on what is and isn't good character design. Such things are subjective, my own opinions included, and should not be stated as if they are objective truth. Its one thing to say that you didn't personally care for a design. Its quite another to definitively claim it bad. I...I am not even sure what to make of your eldritch comment, so I'll just tune that bit out. You're taking my words out of context. Refer back to what you stated beforehand. You stated as if it were a hard truth, rather than your own personal opinion, that certain aesthetic choices were bad design. I was drawing attention to the fact that this a flawed foundation to stand upon as no one person has the authority to decide which aesthetic options are bad without exception. That is it. How one managed to draw from that, that suddenly my opinion was more valuable than yours, once again which is something I never came close to saying, is beyond my comprehension. Sling mud? Good sir, at what point did I ever throw an insult your way? At no point did I ever make mention of your character or capabilities or anything of the sort. I drew attention to way you phrased a statement. Simply put. Nothing more and nothing less. If you hadn't noticed, I've been practicing such the entire while. Once more, at no point did I suggest that my opinion held more weight than your own. The entire point of my original post was to draw attention to fact that there needn't always be a reason behind a character's appearance. Sometimes a character looks a certain way for no other reason than the fact that their creators desired such a thing. Whether or not such a thing would hinder thier combat abilities is largely a moot point as such things are not factored into the gameplay experience.
  6. I'm going to go ahead and assume that this fun bit of reading is directed at me. At what point did I ever say that one was not permitted to criticize what the characters wear? The primary point of my posting was to remind some that as this is a video game, and not one based off of realistic scenarios, designs will favor stylistic, aesthetic choices by their creators over practicality. Just because a class has always looked one way by no means dictates that it must stay that way. At the end of the day, the characters created for this series will look the way they do because thier creators willed it to be so. There exists no further reasoning than that. Sexism or any other imagined slight. I am just going to go ahead and ignore the last bit you typed there as what constitutes 'terrible design', is an entirely subjective one as I stated previously. No one here is the standing authority on what makes something good, especially not yourself. It would do us all some good if some folks could remember that they speak solely for themselves and not for everyone else.
  7. Sometimes, I feel like the inhabitants of this site forget that this is a video game, based around style and fun and not meant to be a super realistic experience. If this were a realistic war game of sorts, then I can see why one would argue revealing clothing lending itself to illness and the like. But Fire Emblem is not that game. It is not now, nor has it ever been a hyper realistic war simulator. Characters wear what they wear because their designers wanted them to wear that. That's it. Beginning, middle, end. There is no further reason beyond that. Its a design choice, plain and simple. Whether or not this lends to increased protection or any number of other things is a meaningless conversation as those things are not factored into the gameplay experience (meaning, a unit bearing heavier armor design wise does not necessarily have more defense that the unit running around in a shirt and shorts). Whether or not said design is 'good,' is subjective at best. I for one like them just fine as they are and would not change a thing.
  8. Its 4 am here (and I'm breaking lurker code by posting), so you'll have to forgive the abrupt nature of this post. Though I'll expand in future posts if someone likes, my personal grievance with Phoenix mode is that, from my perspective anyway, it demonstrates a complete, and utter unwillingness to learn how to play the game the way it was meant to played. People may claim to want to see the story or preserve their characters but are completely unwilling to put in the time and effort needed to secure said rewards for themselves. They seem to just want all of the goodies without having to endure the toil formerly required to attain them. That mentality just sort of saddens me as what makes Fire Emblem such a treasure for me is the experience of overcoming the obstacles the game throws in one's path (and not just overcoming it, but learning to overcome it in such a way that all characters survive the encounter). Without these obstacles requiring one to consider their every move, the reward of character development and story progression is significantly diminished and its value is largely lost. Alas, at the end of the day, people will play how they like. Sure, it won't affect my experience at all, but still, I suppose I wish people were more willing to learn how to play rather than go through the experience in a mode where the game practically hands you victory on a silver platter just for showing up. But that's just one random internet dweller's opinion. Do with it what you will.
  9. Happy Birthday, sorry for being a little late!!!

  10. Happy Birthday!!!

  11. Much as Sw33t suggests, I have reason to believe that you are prone to making grand sweeping generalizations about things. An exception rather than a rule? If you'd like, I can gather up hordes of video games that do nothing to portray sexuality, scantily clad women, or anything of the sort nor do they advertise as such. In this case you seem to be assuming that people are not intelligent enough to look beyond a surface level analysis to truly gauge exactly what makes a video game, well, a video game. Those who are dissuaded with this much ease, likely never had a very high opinion of video games to begin with and were not likely to ever change that thought process regardless of what information they were presented with. Once again, these are hardly the opinion's you'd want to be listening to in the first place, regarding pretty much anything. I'll humor you for a bit though. Let's imagine that videogames are as you say and advertise scantily clad women and sex in everything they do. Would they really be so different from any other form of entertainment? Namely, movies or tv shows? Honestly, look at the recent string of movie trailers for some of the harder hitting movies and tell me that they aren't sexualized as you suggest. Do people form entire opinions off of those alone? No, they don't because it's been proven time and again that even if said movies do contain said elements, they are but a singular aspect of an entire experience and often, a very tiny portion of it. If we're going to begin this everything is overly sexualized march, we may as well target the entire world while we're at it.
  12. Why would a person in this situation base their entire opinion of the video game culture off of a singular video game? That's like seeing a pornographic picture somewhere and basing their entire opinion of art off that. Or, even better, watching a single R rated movie and deciding that all movies must obviously be like that. Perhaps I'm reading your post wrong but if not, this isn't the kind of person you'd trust to make a sound judgement off anything anyway.
  13. @eCut: Thank you for your assistance. I'll be sure to look those over in due time and hopefully discover the error behind my ways. It is always refreshing to have someone cordially and respectfully respond to questions us newer users might have. Unfortunately, I don't take to these things as swiftly as others and often find myself puzzling over thigns for weeks if I don't stop by one of these forums to request aid. Once again, you have my thanks. @Nintenlord: That's exactly what I'm trying to do. Learn the proper tools, hence my requesting of the proper procedure to use in the very first post. I had reached an impasse in trying to learn it on my own and had thought to come here and see if I couldn't learn more efficiently from the community rather than on my own. Jeez, I feel like every time I ask a question in one of these forums, I'm always greeted with hostility and snarky comments. Perhaps, I'm reading your comment wrong but that is how it comes across for one in my position. @Ct: No, it isn't. But it does say to use a hex editor and as it turns out, HxD is the only hex editor that I currently know of and possess, hence my usage of it. I am well aware of the fact that I may be misreading something or perhaps going about it entirely wrong, which is why I am requesting aid here in the first place. I was hoping that those more accomplished in this field might be able to shed some light in some key areas that still elude my understanding.
  14. It is the only method that I know. Do you mean to imply that there are other methods available?
