  1. Are there actual support conversations or just the mechanic. I'm asking be it seems like the latter, although it could just be all the time I'm spending on the Constellation.
  2. Was it Keith Szarabajka? I've sometimes mistaken his voice for Blums.
  3. You said he's going to be a strategy consultant right? Maybe he learned a thing or two from a certain tactician...
  4. I can see Al and Roy's heritage being used to underscore the key theme of the plot. Might I ask how progress with the dialogue script is coming?
  5. I'm making Julie do a lot of the fighting because I feel the quality of a war is measured in the amount of emotionally scarred children it produces. Extra points if they're also orphaned. Also I highly recomend you try to pass this test with your hack. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/UsefulNotes/TheBechdelTest?from=Main.TheBechdelTest
  6. With a couple edits, I think this would be a good look for Hanon actually.
  7. That's pretty much why Hector is also in the right of it. Dawson wants a better and more reliable system of government, and he has point when the same system that put Hector in power also allows murderers, potential rapists, and generally unlikable people like Erik, Darin, Marquess Araphen, and Lundgren gain power. There's nothing to suggest he would be a good leader during periods of peace either. Hector is a capable military leader, but good warriors do not always make good politicians. Hector's personality is not exactly suited for the domestic given his brash nature. Hector wouldn't just step down unless it was plain as day that he could never fit the role no matter how much he tried. No actually, Arch is portraying Hector as someone other than a typical strawconservative. Hector is not opposing Dawson out of jealousy of his power, he's fighting Dawson because the man is disturbing the peace of the realm. Above all else, a lord is expected to defend himself and the people he governs on the field of battle. Dawson challenged him with an armed rebellion, it does not matter if Hector agrees with Dawson's goals because the means will probably end with Hector's head on the chopping block. Just because they were forced to study good leadership does not mean they will always have the knack for being good leaders. That's not to say that Hector is a bad leader, it's just that his transition Marquess will probably be more turbulent than someone to whom the role comes naturally. The fact is that even if Hector becomes a great leader, a bad egg is bound to take the reigns somewhere down the line because the political system has neither a democratic nor meritocratic check on the transition of power. Dawson could not wait until someone more corrupt took the lead, because by then, his ideas would likely be seen as the passing fancies of an eccentric noble recorded in the footnotes of a history book.
  8. Yeah no. Zephiel was a whiny brat who decided that his father trying to kill him was a perfectly valid excuse to commit genocide of the human race. I mean he decides that if he can't have a loving father, then everyone has to die rather than trying to, you know, have a family and be a better father than Desmond was.
  9. Is there anything to offset it being exploited by High Con lancers?
  10. I've looked been looking between this, the vanilla mug, and the official art for Kent. It's the brighter eyes and softer shape of the brows that's throwing people. Making the brows more rectangular and re-darkening the eyes should replace any spark hopeful youth with a disciplined sternity. It looks like you will, actually. Race inevitably has some impact on a character, especially when they stand out in a homogenized setting, but it also depends on the attitudes of that setting. That attitude is usually fostered by the geopolitical atmosphere. The racism and distrust some caucasian-like Lycians nobles display towards the asian-like Sacaeans is due the potential of the latter to invade but also in how they may be exploited as mercenaries.
  11. Dude, calm down. I'm just asking from the perspective of a student who did a couple character design courses recently. Who also wants to design his own characters for a comic series one day. Or I was refering to the fact that his affections for Lyn have gone unreturned and the family he's dedicated his life to serving is basically done. Maybe he's responded by becoming even more disciplined. Shorter hair, more discipline. Regardless, the new mug looks good. Gaufrid looks awesome too. What's his backstory? Summer Isles? Not a token minority hopefully.
  12. It looks much better. This isn't so much of a critique as it is an artistic inquiry: did you make the decision to shorten Kent's as a sign of maturity or is there also as aspect to his character development in the tale?
  13. So after a long time, a computer crash, and procrastination, I finally got back to editting a map of Solum. Tracing over the sketch, trying to properly represent several features, downloading the font used for the maps in Lord of the Rings, finding a tutorial on making a proper back ground, I managed to create this: Not quite finished in my opinion. I feel like there are some more features that need to be added to make it look more vivaceous, like some rivers in Magnus and areas that were mentioned in the story but never visited. Right now, it's just the places from the course of the story.
  14. Your hack makes me curse a lot...that's meant as compliment to it's challenge.
  15. Not if the endgame foes are also stat boosted to require max level, sacred twin stat boosts, and max support to not be slaughtered be at a level playing field....
  16. This was an idea I had in another topic, but what if you made it so that the Divine Weapons have infinite uses but no experience gain. This would strictly make them endgame tools as you would only want 20/20 leveled up units to use them.
  17. Glad you like it. Once I figure out how to use my damn tablet polish it up and edit it, I'll try to make it look like a Tolkeinesque map you could tell I've recently seen the Hobbit by the 3 dots over the "i"s.
  18. Awesome hack. Can't wait to see more. I made this based on the image you made via paint. It's a rough sketch though... Make no mistake, I'm not requesting that you put this in your hack or anything. I just made it for fun and felt like sharing.
  19. Do you plan on having a world map of Solum put up?
  20. I couldn't find a forum specifically marked for hack suggestions or brainstorms. If the moderators feel this should be in the Creative sub forums, then I won't contest their judgment. I had a feeling that FEXP or some other program would be the only way that my ideas could even be possible. I do not expect anyone to just volunteer their support when all I have is this. That is practically the first complication I realized when I had this idea. Some of the solutions I tried to come up with are listed in my post. I think that Skill Sharing is one of the better ones while the Blossom Solution is just "ehh". However, your suggestion is probably the best one although I got the impression that Eight Legends had a certain aspect similar to the Crusaders. "pls no" to the whole idea in general or just the prologue idea? Pretty much, the universal message is that it can't be done via ROM hack. However, would it be viable using FEXP? I would never expect anyone to put more work into a project like this than I myself would be willing to. Right now the topic is more of a brainstorm with an uncertain future. I'm not sure it should even be on this forum, but I felt anything relating to hacks and fangames belonged under ROM hacks. More selfishly, I also wanted to hear the thoughts of the experienced programmers. I'd like to discuss more ideas somehow, though. From dialogue in the Florina/Ninian support, the Hector chapter 19xx script, and the details pertaining to the Ending Winter, I got the feeling that the tragedy surrounding Aenir occurred during the events of the Scouring and that Nergal spent his years looking for a way to resurrect her. I'd be interested in hearing about that. Also thank you all for replying.
  21. I admit that I have very little experience in the actual creation of hacked games. I'm a pretty decent writer who gets ideas stuck in his head that he has to entertain and put down on paper or else he will bother his peers to no end. I got this idea stuck in my head as I played the various hacks created by Mageknight and Arch as well as the demos for the fangame Bwd Yeti is making. I know that a Fire Emblem set around the Scouring is not a very original idea, however I just could not let go of these ideas. So I wrote them down in a word document and I felt like sharing them here. Yes I'm aware of the audacity of an inexperienced noob showing up on the board and requesting help from established spriters and coders for a big project such as this. I don't expect it to go too far past this actual document. I'm just looking for some feedback really. I'd like to know how feasible a game like this would be. Could it capture the experience of an official FE game? What do you like, what do you hate? Is there anything in it that sparks your interest? So without further adieu: Game Summary: Elibe, once a land of peace and beauty. Now a battleground soaked in the blood of men and dragons. For a century these two races have waged war on one another. Though exceeding of men in both might and wisdom, dragons could not match their numbers. The tide turned in man's favor and the defeat of the dragon appears night. Though mankind sighs in relief with victory in sight, the worse is yet to come. This is the tale of the final clash between the dragon and humans from the corners of the land that shall change the face of Elibe. This is the tale of the Scouring. Features: All Eight Heroes as playable units with unique classes All of the Divine Weapons and the Sacred Sword are usable and have their own sprite animations. Different Dragon Enemy Units including Fire Dragons, Ice Dragons, Wild Wyverns all fighting without using Dragon Stones at least early in the game. Narga having an involvement in the storyline somehow. Yahn A subplot covering the events around Aenir and Nergal Chapters around the Ending Winter. Maps will have random and semi-random weather events such as snow one turn, rain another, fog one turn, night another. In addition to that, tiles will be changed such as water turning to ice and plains turning to sand. New tiles such as Dragon Temples that grant Stat bonuses to Dragon units. The game itself will be divided into several campaigns covering the stories of the Heroes. This doesn't mean one part per hero but rather three heroes per campaign. The last one will involve promoted Legend units fighting during the Ending Winter. A team of Swordmaster Siblings that use the katti weapons. Undecided Features and Potential Complications: Setting and Powers: The Fangs of Bern – a band of warriors from the Highlands of Bern.
