  1. A little surprised by the lack of love for Ike. He is one of my favorite characters. He grows into such a powerhouse and has a strong set of morals.

I would love more Ike. Perhaps an older version of him would be cool and a story where he isn't the main focus.

Personally, I would love to see another FE game that does not offer grinding or pairs. I enjoyed FE:A a lot, but I prefer the PoR and RD much more.

  2. Just an update on my first Lunatic run ....

it's been one giant grind fest. I'm trying to recruit Noire, who is perhaps my first kid I'm trying to recruit.

Really excited about having a sniper with Galeforce, Aptitude and Armshift.

    ANY WHO ...

The map is not impossible, but to beat it I need to do ... more grinding!

    I'm about 10 hours in.

Lon'qu, Summa, Chrom, MU and Fredrick are among the units that can actually hang with the enemy on that map. They still get damaged, but in a fair way.

I have a few second tier units that can survive a hit, but not more. Too many enemies, not enough space to escape them. They eventually get devoured. My main units fall, too, as there are just too many enemies.

I'm basically stuck to grinding some more. I can see how much fun the game will be once I'm done grinding, but man, it's been like eight hours grinding, two hours actual game play so far for me.

A little less grinding would be cool.

  3. Mind me asking why you had to buy PoR twice?

In college, one roommate had a 360, the other a PS3 and I had a Gamecube.

That's when I got PoR used at Gamestop. Had to hunt it down, but I managed to get it for about $30. Became such a fan of the game that I practically forced friends to borrow it so they could play it and we could talk about it.

Anyway, one friend was a mess. He had games, stuff all over the place. Pretty sure it got lost into oblivion. It was gone. He sincerely didn't know where it was. I took it down as a loss.

Few months later I started missing the game. Tracked one down again (it was still about $30). Needless to say, I'm very particular now about who I let borrow my games.

Bought Radiant Dawn the day it came out. I still remember going to Best Buy and picking it up.

I know that's more story than you asked haha. But yea, that's what happened.

  4. So, my 3DS got stolen. It was just a regular one with FE:A, my favorite game for the system, inside. I keep my system in three places - the center console in my car, my work bag and the drawer inside my night stand. Checked everything, called friends, family - it's nowhere. Tore up my house looking for it, too.

I've thought about it and I think it was stolen after I got a car wash recently. I live in a large city and went to a car wash I never went to before. I've thought about it and I'm pretty sure it was taken there now. If not, well, I must of lost it.

It kind of sucks because I really had a stacked party. Beat Apotheosis. About 140 hours in that file.

I was planning on getting the New Nintendo 3DS XL whenever it was going to be announced, but I was put in a real bind.

The only think known about the New Nintendo 3DS (for US) is that it is coming out in 2015 and that Nintendo wants to get rid of their current supply here in the states. That could mean a release for next month of some time in June.

Anyway, grabbed a 3DS XL off Craigslist for $115. Figured I could flip it for that when New 3DS is announced.

Now I have to grab a new copy of Fire Emblem (which sucks because it isn't on sale anymore) ... FE is my favorite series across all platforms (Radiant Dawn is my favorite).

The bright side: I have a reason to start over again now. Going to try and beat it on Lunatic. That should be fun, always enjoy a good challenge (although I tried before in the past and it was pretty frustrating).

Just sucks. Wanted to share. Not looking for a pity party. =D

  5. With Wrath, it almost won't offer any crit due to their already overpowered Luck.

I could see Wrath being viable. I was landing Crits without it using Owian and a forged Killer Axe - I named it Axehand - at 42%-52% during secret battle missions. Granted, Solidarity might have been in play for some of the attacks and Owain also had Gamble and Zeal going. Still, the crits were landing and when they did, they hurt.

I agree with your other points, though. No point in Lethality or Counter. And some enemies do have insane luck (99).

  6. It took you forever (judging by your finally in your topic) and you went on with a massive set up... to beat it at full power, which isn't needed.

Getting everyone at full power for the hardest map in the game is fun, for me.

Apparently, you like to prove that you can do it with less. And that's fine, until you start calling other people "chumps." To each their own. But you post as if you're better, or more special, because you went the route you went. You're not. If you're posting here so people can cheer you on and start jocking your game then I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

It's entirely possible to clear the map in a variety of ways - full power, bronze weapons, no LB, etc. You're stating the obvious and doing it in an immature way. You're not getting any respect from anyone, just an FYI.

    So, yea.

  7. I didn't want to outright make you feel like a chump, but now I'm going to:

Limit Breaker is -not- necessary. It merely has the biggest impact on making the map easy. Rallies are [not] necessary either, again they just have a large impact on making the map easy. [Full Power= Rallies and Limit Breaker used]

Snipers: If you're rallying or Limit Broken, you only need Chrom. Other good candidates for Sniper: Lucina!Morgan [Aether/Luna/Ignis] and Ike [Aether/Luna/Ignis]. But yes, you want snipers. Although, if you're at Full Power, they're unnecessary.

Vantage isn't completely necessary. Vengeance is incredibly useful, as even at full power, 70 Damage hits still exist.

Yes, tonic. Don't worry about DEF or RES unless you're needing a survival threshold to be met. [i.E. 60 for Mire Fliers, 56 for Celica's Sorcs [RES] and Somewhere around 77 DEF for Ikeadin/Anna if they're allowed to attack.]

Forged Weapons aren't necessary at all at full power.

One of the myriad keys to crushing the map is indeed Rescue.

Not really. My first run was Supreme Emblem. Most of my runs are Supreme Emblem. Katarina's set is boring. Lunatic+ Skirmish is harder and more fun.

    And time for chumpage:

I'm fully aware that you can beat map without LB. Not sure how you made me feel like a "chump," either.

Obviously there are a variety of ways to beat the map. But Vantage and Vengeance knock out enemy soldiers when the turn limit is on the line pretty easily.

But congrats to you. Thanks for showing a video that shows how to beat secret battles without LB. I think just about everyone on this thread has most likely seen it (maybe not the crappy one you posted where the camera shakes like crazy, but a similar one), so congrats to you.

And forged weapons at max strength dish out MORE damage, so how is this not helpful?

And Snipers are key. They are probably most useful in Apotheosis then any other map. Giving other examples of good Sniper units is pretty lame, especially when you're offering Lucina. Who is pretty much like Chrom in that she has Aether. Thanks for that.

I really don't understand any of your points, it's like you're trying to prove that you're more "hardcore" because you know/beat secret battles with a different setup. Getting Supreme Emblem = getting Supreme Emblem. There's no right or wrong way to do it. Also, you agree with some of my points but still go on to call me a "chump." Nice one.

But thanks for the advice, champ, er, I mean, Chump.

    Yesh.

    edit* grammar

  8. I recently beat Apotheosis. This much I know:

    Limit Breaker is key.

Have two maxed out snipers. This is key. Chrom makes an excellent sniper because he has Aether.

Have two units with Vantage, Vengeance

Drink as many tonics as you can before battle. I didn't know this, but you can actually consume tonics just before the battle by accessing inventory.

    Forge weapons, obviously.

    Have loads of rescue staffs.

Also, getting Katrina and then beating secret battles is more practical then beating secret battles right off the bat.

This was my team (maxed out unless otherwise noted):

    Morgan, Sorceresses -

    • Vengeance (HP: 3/85)
    • Vantage
    • Tomefaire
    • Galeforce
    • Limit Breaker, only used forged Celica's Gale

    Paired with Owian, Warrior -

    • Limit Breaker
    • Armshift
    • Gamble
    • Zeal
    • Astra

    Severa, Sorceresses -

    • Galeforce
    • Armshift
    • Vengeance (HP: 1/85)
    • Vantage
    • Limit Breaker, mainly used a forged version of the stronger version of Waste (I renamed it after I got it forged, forgot what it was called).

    Paired with Inigo, Assassin -

    • Galeforce
    • Armshift
    • Pass
    • Patience
    • Limit Breaker, used forged Brave Bow and forged Brave Sword

    MU, Sage

    • Ignis
    • Limit Breaker
    • Armshift
    • Solidarity
    • Tomefaire, mainly used forged Celica's Gale and Rescue

    Paired with Aversa, Sorceresses -

    • Galeforce
    • Shadowgift
    • Limit Breaker
    • Life Taker
    • Vengeance, mainly used forged Celica's Gale

    Cynthia, Assassin -

    • Galeforce
    • Limit Breaker
    • Lifetaker
    • Renewal
    • Movement +1, mainly used forged Brave Bow and forged Brave Sword

    Paired with Batman, Hero

    • Swordbreaker
    • Limit Breaker
    • Acrobat
    • Pavise
    • Sol, mainly used forged Brave Sword and Brave Axe

    Noire, Sniper

    • Limit Breaker
    • Hit Rate +20
    • Bowfaire
    • Astra (really helpful)
    • Skill +2, mainly used Brave Bow and Double Bow

    Paired with Brady, Sage

    • Dual Guard+ (Saved me on key turn that I messed up on!)
    • Galeforce
    • Magic +2
    • Tomefaire
    • Limit Breaker, mainly used forged Celica's Gale and Rescue

    Chrom, the unsuspected hero, Sniper

    • Dual Strike+
    • Aether
    • Rightful King
    • Bowfaire
    • Limit Breaker, mainly used Brave Bow and Double Bow

Paired with, Black Knight, War Monk and also one of my favorite FE characters of all time

    • Luna
    • Limit Breaker
    • Rally Defense
    • Rally Magic
    • Defender, mainly used forged Brave Axe and Rescue

    Lisa, Sage

    • Limit Breaker
    • Dual Support+
    • Rally Magic
    • Galeforce
    • Tomefaire, mainly used Celica's Gale and Rescue

    Paired with Donnel, Hero

    • Zeal
    • Armshift
    • Limit Breaker
    • Sol
    • Rally Skill, mainly used Forged Brave Sword, Brave Axe

    Others -

These are other team members that contributed, but did not kill anyone. Could not have done it without them. All are maxed out except for Kellam -

    • Cordelia, Falcon Knight, primary Rescuer
    • Olivia, Dancer, for my Snipers mainly, sometimes Rallies
    • Katarina, Rally Bot
    • Micaiah, Valkyrie, Rally Bot 2, Rescuer
    • Cherche, emergency killer (if enemy had less than 10 hp), but mainly flyer for Kellam (Trickster), who was paired with her as Rescuer. I used the Deliverer skill, which I think is underrated.

That's it! That was my team. By the time I faced the archers, I had Severa and Morgan with very little HP. IMO, the toughest round was the round four, where the enemy has flying units in upper left corner with Mire (the ranged attack). I was able to figure it out, but took a lot of flying. Didn't use Luna once for the map, even though two units had it.

  9. Yes, I'm very late to the party. But, I can now say that I've beaten the secret battles of Apotheosis under the turn limit, thus earning the Supreme Emblem, which isn't much, but it'll be cool to sport on by SP team.

What was the key to my victory? Believe it or not, it was A) help from members of this forum and B) turning Chrom from worthless mule into a class A Sniper. Going into the battle, I had just one Sniper (Noire). Having two Snipers on the map was the key to winning, at least for me. Because I never used Chrom, I had to pair him with DLC member the Black Knight.

I had the BK setup as a War Monk so he can use staffs and still give Chrom decent pairing bonuses. This was done because at this point of the game my options were A) grind a character I never used for better support or B) use a DLC character I was already using that was maxed out. I did so much grinding to get here and I wasn't up for more.

But honestly, Chrom with Double Bow + Rallies + Aether is more than deadly. Noire delivered the killing blow against Anna with a Double Bow and Astra. I love it when she gets all crazy like that.

My team (maxed out unless otherwise noted) with skills (other members just listed):

For anyone that cares, thanks! Any thoughts on my team would be cool to hear from. I did A LOT of grinding, and finished this after 107 hours of game play. I'm sure if I did this a second time around, it would take less, but yup, it took me 100+ hours to beat the secret battles! :sweatdrop:

  10. I've been thinking of making a team of assassins only class run. They'd be the only class on field, except for the mule.

Forging would need to be allowed to take down some of those tanks/generals. Then again, my crit rate should be off the charts.

    Good luck!

  11. Not a bad story on the problem. Just wait until Football or Basketball seasons begin, the website will be full of gambling left and right.

Thank you for the kind words. The Sun-Times ran the story today because it's officially football season.

Now, if newspapers paid more attention to important issues like why a female MU is better than a male MU. In time. In time. =D
