  1. Okeydoke then. Unless thief utility is that vital (and really, you'll probably waste as many turns trying to recruit Julian as you will nabbing chests), down goes Julian.

Oh, and was anybody else getting horrible speed out of Linde? (I'm talking 10 at lvl 10 horrible) I think it's possible her speed growth took a hit. (Maybe to compensate for Nosferatu?) That's pretty bad if it's screwage, so it might be me, but...

Since we were talking about utility earlier, I'd like to inquire about Athena...should we just peg her at lo-mid or something for prologue utility? I found her extremley useful for those chapters, though obviously she's a total joke when she returns.

  2. I did use Cord in Chapter 2, but he didn't really add a whole lot to the field. He was pretty minor, and the only reason he became necessary was because I put Ryan as a Mage instead of an Archer. He's okay to have in Chapter 2, but he just seems outclassed in almost every way by Draug. Only advantage is the Triangle Attack... which isn't much.

I didn't say he was wtfpwnsome utility. I just said he was contributing something to the field. And since he can be nabbed on Turn 1, why wouldn't you?

I don't really buy "Outclassed by Draug" as an argument, btw. Draug's growths got souped up absurdly. (Smash might say he's inherited Gatrie's growth spread) I can see how he has trouble because of eh bases and all, but that's not really a good argument. Draug's mid tier for being growths+early join if nothing else. Cord may or may not pass for mid-low.

Julian should too then, since he forces you to waste about 10 turns just getting to him and back.

Well, due to the whole Lena deal, there's actual incentive to recruit Julian whereas there isn't any for Matthis. But if that's not being considered, then yeah, I 100% agree.

Besides, it's also worth mentioning the no Julian equals no thieving utility whatsoever, because No Julian pans out to no Rickard. I guess thieving's a bit less useful because of the Thief staff, but that's only 5 uses.

  3. D axes is doable for Barst. No slayers, but he's got plenty of time to get access to those (And there's a long period where Slayers wouldn't have helped him, anyway). C would have been nice if only to get Silver quicker, but he can live with D.

That is, unless mustering more levels is possible.

Considering how horrible her start is, I think asking ONE level out of her is a lot.

By the way? I think people are coming down too hard on Cord. He's got C2 utility if absolutely nothing else. I found him rather helpful in that chapter, anyway (3HKOs soldiers and can take 2 hits before dying) He's not great, but he's a free extra pair of hands, and that's always nice to have.

Matthis should just go down to below Est. Seriously. You have to go WAY out of your way to recruit the goddamn guy and all you get is a piece of rubbish for your troubles. I don't even want to hear that "recruitment costs shouldn't cost against a character" because anybody who's said that must not have tried to recruit the asshole. If nothing else? It's absurdly time-consuming.

  4. She's at risk for it ever since her joining chapter in the prologue. Thieves in P-8 are even one rounding her if she hasn't procd enough speed (and with such a bad start of hers, she's going to have issues getting even one level; besides, that only blocks out low-end 13 AS theives)

There is also Myrm, for which she can be trained early on (I think we have t accept that early on she is being babied)

Yeah....but do you really want to make it worse? Now her move is average, it's even harder for her to snipe kills due to her lower strength, and it takes her even longer to get out of getting one shotted. If you can somehow make it work, the payoff won't be worth all the effort.

If we're reclassing Cecile to anything (and we are, absolutely, but I don't think Archer/Mage saves her, it's just kind of like finding a half-full canteen in the desert), it's a chipper class.

    EDIT: Chapter 1.

No, it happens all the time in the prologue as well. I've seen it.

Oh, and dividing EVERY possible My Unit class seems like too much of a hassle since it's really just for prologue performance. I vote that three My Units are tiered; My Class A Unit, My Class B Unit, My Female Unit.

  5. How do you even manipulate the AI into attacking my unit if it's NOT a mage on P-2? Is he really stupid enough to target you on the fort even if he could have attacked Ryan instead?

He was incredible in normal mode, but I have a feeling that his usefulness will diminish in Lunatic mode.

Probably; but his bases really don't seem that bad even for Lunatic (He's 2 speed, a bit of durability, and a horsie down on Sirius, which makes a notable difference, but I'm having a hard time believing that's going to make the difference between "I can get kills and not die from shit and you can't"), especially since he can chuck hand axes/steel right from the start. Maybe not TOP TOP tier, but I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be ranked high if it turns out that Personal Experience might mean something.

  6. Either I got ridiculously RNG blessed, or Barst is easily top tier. Capped str, skill, and speed before promotion. Guy would make an absurd berserker...

But like I said, I could have gotten absurdly RNG blessed. I just felt like throwing that out.

And frankly, I still don't understand why 1 str/spd/def makes such an absurd difference between Luke and Rody; it's not like it's always the difference between life and death like it is with Cecile (C1 bandits, but Javelin counters that) Yes, it obviously pans out in Luke's favor, but Steel Lance has 1 more mt than Steel Sword which nullifies the str a bit, plus Javelins counter for the times where Rody's at risk for being doubled (And he's had 8 prologue levels to do decent in, I kind of think it's unlikely he wouldn't have procd 1 spd, but I'll concede that an HP and a defense isn't guaranteed). I'd still say Lances are better than swords overall; Luke's E rank makes it a bit of a big deal that he can't mess around with them.

Kind of challenge Sirius being ranked uber high as well; his bases are only so much better than Arran's, and with his EXP gain being diminished a bit for a lot of earlygame he might need a bit of time to catch up. I'm not saying he's lower than Upper Mid, but he's got problems, problems he didn't have in B2.

  7. Meh.

    Forged Wyrmslayers.

Oh, Excalibur's effective too. (So's Shaver or wtfe that's called now, which can be forged)

In fact, from checking the damage on my NM run (need a feel for the game/who to use, Gibson mode was turning to shit because I was trying too hard to train Cecile) I'm pretty sure Maric can OHKO them with Excalibur at base (or at least with a dust, that's for certian)

  8. So its not your fault you refuse to do anything because you're not happy, since it isn't your responsibility

That's correct. It isn't my responsibility. I will repeat this once more for you; it is the developer's job to eliminate design flaws within the game, not the player's.

It is your responsibility to fix what you find wrong on this Earth, instead of throwing around blame at anyone that disagrees with you.

As it is yours to take responsibility for your own actions. You are contributing to everything I've mentioned, whether you choose to believe it or not.

    I'm not 'ruining the industry

People like you are, actually. I've explained why endless times.

    the other says 'do something'.

I don't know if you've figured this out yet or not, but I am not a developer. There is absolutely nothing I can do. You're doing the equivalent of screaming at some guy to stop the holocaust nukes on doomsday.

  9. I was expecting <INSERT CHARACTER HERE> <INSERT CELEBRITY'S LAST NAME HERE>, <INSERT STUPID CATCH PHRASE HERE>.

You're the one who throws out random internet memes when they aren't funny, not me.

Also...are you associating me with a phase like "Cord", "Pitt", "BELIEVE IT?" ...Are you fucking three years old?

    Is <INSERT CHARACTER HERE> REALLY a tier over <INSERT OTHER CHARACTER HERE> <INSERT CELEBRITY'S LAST NAME HERE>, <INSERT STUPID CATCH PHRASE HERE>.

That'd be funny if I actually did that often. If that was so often an occurance, I'd surely remember it. Are you just relying on your buddy Mekkah for jokes because you can't make any good ones yourself?

    Yours wasn't much better.

It was much better, actually. I'm establishing reasons WHY the starsphere's growth boost was removed. Where exactly did pulling out FE5 get you? Have they implemented any growth boosters as crazy as Book 2/FE5 since then? No. And why the hell do you think not?

  10. If Brawl is such a horrible game to you, change it yourself.

Stop making it our job to eliminate design flaws from within the game when it's actually the developer's.

something other than Salty's decision to blame me for all the things they dislike in the gaming industry.

That blame's justified. Seeing as how what you plan to do about design flaws is just have the gamers fix them. This equates to a LOT of developers not doing their jobs, and as long as you posses that mentality, that's one more person companies can get away with selling half=-assed products to.

Iunno, maybe because they also included scrolls back in FE5 (which are very close to Starsphere's effects).

Nice irrelevant whoop out your ass. FE5 was still a long ways off from FEDS, and not only A: Were they only Starsphere broken when used in groups, stat caps were still all 20s.

I mean, it's fairly simple that the argument of it being based more on FE1 than it is FE3 Book 1.

Here's the problem; it doesn't prove a goddamned thing.

ntelligent Systems does not always look at a game and say "hey let's balance it".

No, absolutely not. But what they DO do is say "whoa, that would be stupid with these current mechanics, we should fix that." And the starsphere's growth bonus being eliminated is proof of that.

so nice ad hominem attack there

Yes. It was a nice one, wasn't it?

  11. That wasn't a "retarded argument". If it was based on FE3 Book 1, a lot of things would've changed in the first place.

Yes, it is. It being based off of FE1 doesn't change the fact not even IS is going to overlook stupid bullshit. Why do YOU think they threw out the starsphere's ubergrowths? Is it really because the game is based off of FE1...or is there another reason? Hell, the Ballista are more like book 1, because they don't have 1-2 range that can't counter melee on the enemy phase! Why do you think they opted NOT to base ballista off their FE1 versions?

It was retarded and nonsensical the first time GameFAQs purists argued for it, and it's still retarded and nonsensical now.

This is coming from the same person who wanted to throw Shanam in Top Tier due to Bargain.

lol, only that was like 4 years ago, and what I mentioned was much more recent.

  12. Wait, how do I allow anything?

Because you possess the "oh just ignore the game's problems" mentality that gaming companies feed off of.

Don't go throwing the blame at everyone else that enjoys games and doesn't spend their time complainin' over every little detail they don't like.

You ARE to blame for it because you are encouraging things like this to happen and be overlooked.

Things you're probably not bothering to think about because you can't see past your own self-righteous stance on them. If they lower the percentages and make them work as equipped items then

And you don't have any proof this is what will happen.

And while there are changes I disliked in Brawl, overall I don't see how it is RUIN THE SERIES END OF ALL THINGS CATS AND DOGS GETTING ALONG AND THE TERRORIST WIN level of bad you (and a lot of other elitists who seem to think likewise) present.

Brawl is a step backwards with superior technology. Shit like this in this day and age is simply inexcusable, but Nintendo does it anyway. Why? Because they don't give a fuck anymore. The faster they can shit out a rushed project to fund their next console which all the fanboys will scream over, the better. It's all about the money now. And that message really comes across with Nintendo as of late.

Well, the thing is, in wi-fi, those things won't be optional.

    I don't care about Wi-Fi. That's not what I'm taking issue with.

Oh; and the Starsphere WON'T have 30% growths. This is obvious to anybody with half a brain. COUGH FEDS COUGH

  13. I for one found the fact that you could get infinite stat boosters in Eight to be a horrible thing.

Good thing that only ever made a difference on ruins one at which point nobody gives a shit anyway.

I would probably not use the Star Orb, just like I generally don't throw high price weapons and obscene forging around in game.

The starsphere is completely different. It exists for like 3 chapters. It's not casebreaking at all.

You are free to ignore them like I will.

And I am free to complain about them, because they're terrible, terrible, terrible things. Shitty game design being passed off as acceptable is the reason why bullshit like Mario Kart Wii and Brawl happen. Shit like this is the reason why media and children (and most recently, game companies whom wish to follow the wii into the shitter) have become obsessed with motion control gimmicks over actual solid game design. Shit like this is why colossal imbalances like Tales of Vesperia happen. And people like you who say "oh just ignore it!" to broken shit implemented in the game that could have been avoided if it was play-tested decently at all are also a major contributing factor as to why it happens.

In short? People like you are killing the industry. Because you ALLOW and ENCOURAGE shit that shouldn't happen, to happen. It's why decent games are rarer as time goes on; companies think from a marketing point of view, and there's more and more people lying around who are willing to overlook any broken flaws or mechanics with "don't use it". As such, less effort is put in, and what we're left with is an unfinished product being produced.

  14. Well then you know what? Don't use them. -__-

Don't use Zagaro and Wolf. Don't use warp staff. Don't use Ryu's Super. Don't use Overlimit stupidity in Tales of Mehsperia.

It's not my job to eliminate design flaws from a game. It's IS's. And the orbs are a design flaw.

In essence, you are complaining about something that is just free RNG tweaking, that doesn't actually harm the game objectively

It DOES harm the game objectively, because Marisia was not meant to solo chapters. It's even more ridiculous if you use them on units who are actually meant to kill everything already. Have you actually played Book 2? I'm willing to bet you haven't, otherwise you wouldn't make such an atrocious claim like "it doesn't harm the game objectively" when in reality it translates to having a bunch of maxed defense guys running around on the field; including characters not MEANT to max defense.

Like people that think have an issue with forged brave weapons, arena abuse, or RNG abuse?

Yes, I do have an issue with all of those things, because thanks to those Wi-Fi has no depth whatsoever.
