Well, damn.

Just wanna let everyone know that I received my stuff today. Got everything I was promised and in great condition as well! Thanks again to Christian and Lu for all the hard work they put into this for us!

The prices fluctuate a lot on that site. When I bought both SR+ versions of Azura/Aqua and Flora a few days ago, they were all cheaper than their current prices.

I could list so many moments from the Tellius series, but I wanna shift my focus to other FE titles for once in my life... [spoiler=FE3/13 Spoilers] When you finally confront Hardin for the final battle with him. At this point, you know full well that he is not an evil man, but someone who was just possessed. And while that alone isn't too interesting, it's more so what led him to his possession that got me. He was turned into a villain against his will because his feelings were manipulated. I mean, the dude thought the love of his life genuinely loved him back... but soon realized he was just used politically. And then his resulting depression was taken advantage of in order to further an evil plot that he was absolutely against. When I faced him, I didn't want to kill him. I just... I felt bad for him. He was turned into a villain for having very human emotions. He was a well done villain. Also the music was perfectly awesome and perfectly fitting.

I can verify that this was a pleasant and efficient process for the both of us. In terms of places to order from, I chose amenitydream because they had the cheapest prices I could find for most cards (notably the SR+ variants), as well as the shipping was very reasonable (500 JPY for 12 cards and two 5-packs of sleeves) and was convenient for luyairis. Granted, I only really compared this site to Yahoo auctions and Yahoo/Rakuten/Amazon.jp stores. If anyone knows of a cheaper, and just as reliable, alternative to amenitydream, please let us know!

Hmm... we don't know what artists will be making an appearance yet at either location, do we? If Senri Kita isn't attending either of them, I'll be fine. ...but if she does show up, dear lord I'd kill to have her sign the inside cover of the Artworks Vol. 3 I ordered.

Odd, one of the main reasons why I prefer the older titles to Awakening is because I felt they did a much better job with character interaction (excluding the ones without supports), but I'll admit that Awakening was certainly more into the fluffy humor. Now that I think about it, something that all FE titles suffer from is that lack of character interaction across the cast within the story. Granted, this is probably unavoidable just given how large the casts are... although surprisingly enough, I think Radiant Dawn did that best job at that. If only their supports were as good as it's predecessor...

Should anyone be able to go, I'll probably just need the artbook vol. 3, and maybe the "armor knight crackers", depending on what the hell they are exactly. Other than that, I believe I have everything I need from C89.

This is actually the primary reason why I asked this question. I see a lot of veterans heavily criticize or even hate the 3DS era of Fire Emblem games. I would even include myself in this party (at least in regards to the heavy criticizing portion). But I never really seen newcomers to the series do the inverse, or even speak about the older titles. Part of me thinks this could be because how unfriendly series veterans can come off as, or how intimidating they make the older games sound in terms of difficulty. So, asking this has been very helpful for me to understand how those who entered the community by playing Awakening actually feel.

In hindsight, FE7's plot did have it's issues, though I don't think it's problems are enough to label it one of the worst stories at all. I feel the points regarding Araphen can be explained (was hoping to gain some sort of misogynistic power over Lyn, or not wanting to mess with the guy that nearly burned him to death...), and even the other minor plot holes aren't enough to distract me. The points about Nergal and Ephidel are very reasonable though. Either way, I suppose the reason I loved FE7 so much outside of it being the first one I played was do to how in depth the characters were explored. Thane, I know you said the cast was very uninteresting to you, but I really recommend you look into the supports more and play Hector Mode. I honestly think FE7's cast are some of the most developed and interesting in the series. But in any case, Kirokan is right; we should try to avoid spoilers in a topic like this. After all, this isn't an FE7 defense topic. I do really like the discussion that's going on though!

So what will all be available from Cipherfest? It looks like the badge sets, single badges, some number of play mats and the artbooks.. but it looks like it mentions something about a third volume of it?

If we're throwing out predictions for the SR cards this set, I'm gonna guess they'll take the Series 3 approach and give the #FE section 6 SRs, while FE3 and 13 both get 3. Since I don't know enough about/don't care that much about #FE, i'll only make guesses for what SR's we'll see for FE3 (the one I'm most excited for) and FE13. Assuming they'll get no more than 3 each, my guess are... FE3: Marth, Kris (if we get any remake characters. After all, we did get Athena in S1), and Emperor Hardin. FE13: Lucina, Robin (M), and maybe... Chrom? Or perhaps Robin (F). I'm curious though, are there enough characters from #FE to justify half a set? I believe they're 7 main characters + their mirages, right? Outside of that, is there anyone else that's notable enough to warrant 50 cards?

Sorry, my OP definitely left out the "started with" portion of the question. That's been fixed. I'm asking both people who have started with Awakening/Fates and then tried to go back and play the old ones, and those who have only played Awakening/Fates. It seems silly to ask an opinion for games that haven't been played, but perhaps those people have either looked into the old games or at least heard about them. For instance, I have yet to play Fates, but I certainly know a bit about all three versions already. And you posting their opinions does help! Thanks for sharing their responses!

I have a question for those who have started with, or only played Awakening/Fates: what is your view on the older entries of the series, before the 3DS titles? I ask this cause I often see many veterans of Fire Emblem note how different Awakening and Fates are in comparison to the old titles, but I don't think I've ever since the opposite side's opinion. So yeah, what is your opinion of the older titles?

This guy gets it. Path of Radiance is my favorite due to it's cast, story, and balanced (or at least, balanced enough for me) gameplay. But really, most of my love for it stems from the fact that it was the first FE game I truly knew how to play, given that I was too young and dumb to understand FE7 fully at the time. It was really when my love for the series took full bloom.

The official twitter says the Path of Radiance badge set and Awakening-Fates solo badges have sold out... anyone else a little shocked to see that Path of Radiance merch sold out first twice in a row now? Here I thought Japan didn't like the game... *Update* Nohr Badge set as well.
