  1. TTYD is what, 10 years old now? It's held up to time quite well, but the series isn't getting any younger and even though SS can be shrugged off as an isolated blunder, it's still 5 years during which no new PMs were being made.

Yeah, let's forget that game ever happened.

I've been wanting Nintendo and IS to do something memorable with the series, but I suppose there is only so much there can be done with it. In the case of a game being straightforward and great would be the first PM. I always found it more enjoyable over its sequels.

    However, on topic...

Fire Emblem started off as straightforward, so you can't really blame shadow dragon from being a complete mess. Around the time FE4-5 came, the complexity was driven into FAR too many subplots.

As for awakening, I can understand why it's story, gameplay, and overall cast are generally simple and easy to get. It's a game built on a nice mixture of fanservice and accessabilty.

Remember, up until then, the series was heading downhill.

  2. FMorgan!Sniper pretty much has baseline everything she needs. Just make sure whoever the mother is, has a good Spd mod (+1/+2 should be good enough)

Another question. I plan on passing a male exclusive skill. Is Counter effective towards Snipers? Or should I just OP out with another skill?

  3. Great Knight is by far the worst class in the game. Terrible speed and Skill, 2 weaknesses, even worse magic and resistance.

It's only saving grace is the high STR and DEF, which is useless on higher difficulties.

Generals do everything better with the exception of speed.

Anyway, War Cleric is Lissa's worst, GK is Freds, sage is Virions, GK is Sully, Trickster for Vaike, GK for Stahl, Sage for Kellam, GK for Sumia, Villager for Donnel, Trickster for Lonqu, GK for Ricken, War Cleric for Maribelle, Trickster for Panne, Trickster for Gaius.

  4. So! These are my current pairings, ones marked with x are official, those without the fancy x are available to change. So if you have any suggestions please tell :D

    Nowi + Avatar (MU)

    Olivia + Chrom (x)

    Maribelle + Henry

    Cherche + Stahl (x)

    Sully + Kellam

    Tharja + Gaius

    Lissa + Ricken (x)

    Panne + Gregor

    Miriel + Libra

    Cordelia + Lon'Qu

    Sumia + Frederick

Change Fred and Sumia with Henry. He's better towards Cynthia than Brady, who doesn't need a great father.

Change Sully with Donnel. Probably her best pair. Although my personal fav is with Vaike, but with that one, you lose Galeforce.

Otherwise, all of your non-perma pairs are decent enough.

  5. Fire being effective on Beast would be pretty broken in Awakening [since Mounted is beasts], except CG would STILL be better in most cases.

I kinda think that Magic, Bows, and Melee weapons should triangle each other.

Although, if they go with the common Mage beats knight [Magic > Melee], Knight beats Archer [Melee > Bows], Archer beats Mage [bows > Magic] set up seen in a lot of other fantasy settings [mostly MMOs] that'd be imba in favor of Magic, which already is a problem, so it probably should be reversed.[Melee > Magic > Bow > Melee]

I like the idea a lot, but what do you think could make Light and Dark have their own part? Should they just be inter grated in the magic part?
  6. Then again, you seem pretty resigned to hate everything regarding this game, so I'm probably just wasting your time.

Way to put words in my mouth. Just because I find certain features in the game lacking doesn't mean I hate the game as a whole. I'm just saying that it is inexcusable for them to slack on the main character's supports.

As for my personal opinion as to what their supports could center around, Ive already provided my 2 cents.

  7. On topic, to those saying Chrom/Miriel and Chrom/Tharja wouldn' have much to talk about, since when did not having much in common stop Awakening from trying to write 4 levels of supports?

Since Chrom and Sumia decided to have 5 S supports

I'm not saying it wouldn't work out. Some pairings are so outrageous that it's not even remotely believable. But it's pretty obvious why IS didn't give them more supports.

  8. Inheritence can only get you so far. This also applies in Binary.

As you said, Nihil is common, so keep this in mind if you want to have a boss killer in your ranks.

I've actually heard Ayra x Arden was pretty good. In general, Ayra can't have a bad husband uless he's a magic user.

Azel x Lachesis is great , since high STR is a given with Hezul blood, and this will give Nanna enough magic to be a decent healer.

  9. . I dunno, to be honest, all of Miriel's supports are kind of...odd. Personally, the only person I think she really has anything resembling chemistry with is -

*glances nervously around* ok good she's not here

    - anyway, she only really seems to form something resembling a connection with Frederick.

    Made my night right there.

Miriel has, hands down, the most emotionless and downright tasteless supports, to the point where even her friendship convos are bad.

While I'd like to see what kind of support she would have with Chrom, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be mindblowingly different from her other supports

  10. If even it does matter much I always try to make the parents as strong as possible.

Unless it's FuryxLevin, this is what should be done.

Finn is a decent option for Raquesis. I've played the game many times, though, and her kids simply aren't spectacular no matter what you do so don't stress too much.

This. Delmud can turn into a great fighter with the right parent, but Nanna will always be inferior to her Master Knight mother. Finn giving Nanna +5 speed is nice, though.
  11. As for Miriel, I can imagine her asking Chrom about the "properties" of Naga's bloodline and its descendants, or Chrom just checking up on her to see how she's doing or something.

I would actually prefer them supporting over Chrom's ancestors, and Miriel examining him to see why the Exalted Bloodline get to wield Falchion, etc. Lots of possibilities wasted if you ask me.

  12. It also cements my stance that Fire Emblem has never excelled in storytelling except maybe the Jugdral games, and even then, that's mostly background stuff rather than the story actually in the games.

Even then, there was a ton of story elements that wasnt added until FE5 and several other story sources (manga, developers notes, etc.) were released.

Awakening doesn't have a complex story because it was a game that was meant to lure in more fans to the series, since it was going downhill after PoR. It adopted the popular marriage and support systems so a new level of character development could be explored. It is a pleasing concept. However all in all, this title wasn't supposed to be taken seriously. I've seen what Fire Emblem is capable of, and the game just drifts off course too much.

  13. You don't have to worry about Chrom. He passes down Aether to all of his daughters. As for Sumia, pass down Galeforce for Lucina and for Cynthia, try to nab her Renewal.

Don't worry about Morgan. As long as your avatars' a strengths and weaknesses aren't terrible, Morgan has nothing to worry about. I recommend a male only skill, like counter.

Lissa should pass down Galeforce or Renewal. Stahl should pass Aegis, since Owain starts out as a Myrmidon, and Stahl shouldn't pass skills that would otherwise be easy for Owain to get himself.

Severa should get Galeforce. Gregor has tons of combat skills, but I recommend a male exclusive skill.

Ricken can pass Aegis and Luna, but Luna isn't as good for magic users as it is physical fighters. Miriel should pass Renewal.

It really doesn't matter what Cherche passes down, but Renewal is always nice. Frederick should pass down Luna.

I haven't done Maribelle with Gaius yet, but I'm not sure how good it is. Galeforce for Maribelle and Astra for Gaius.

If Yarne is to stay as a Taguel, pass down Astra, Pass, or lance breaker. Panne doesn't have much to pass to Yarne, but give him something that isn't a Taguel skill.

Astra for Sully, Movement +1, Renewal, or Acrobat from Kellam.

Any male exclusive skill from Henry, Luna from Tharja.

Libra should pass Renewal, Olivia should pass Galeforce

  14. Did you ever wonder why Olthin (translated Orson) wasn't a Spotpass character?

Not only does he have his own in-game weapon, but he's a popular character from the game he stars in. (Thracia 776).

The main reason why I care so much is because this leaves his weapon unobtainable outside of Barracks and landing on those special spots, which is a shame, since I love accurate axes.
