Perkilator
This was from a while back but a lost prototype was found for a racing game that was also a crossover between Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. I guess that closest we got to this prototype being realized is the appearance of Spyro and other characters in Crash Nitro Kart for the GBA and Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled. Shanty Pete's 1st Mate
Interesting! Looks very rudimentary, so it must not have gotten super far into development. The race track looks very reminiscent of Panda Terrace, from the third game. I wonder if they would've taken cues from other classic stages, like Tree Tops or Shady Oasis? Would've been cool to have Bianca and Ripto as playable characters, among others. More ambitiously, perhaps there could've been flying races, too, reminiscent of Spyro's own flying stages. Kinda like the plane transformations in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed.
Zapp Branniglenn
Argonaut software? Wouldn't be the first time they approached a publisher with a "look what we made" prototype. That's how we got the original Star Fox. It's sort of a mystery in retrospect why Crash and Spyro didn't crossover sooner than they did. A followup to Crash Team Racing would have been a no brainer as well. The CG Intro Video included with the prototype confirms that this sort of game was at least in the negotiation stage. I feel better knowing there was an attempt, even if it was a failed attempt.
Acacia Sgt
Oh wow, fascinating... a shame that didn't came to fruition.
Lord_Brand
Would have been a better crossover than Crash and Spyro Fusion, most likely.
