Lord_Brand
Today, inspiration struck: What if the reason Luigi was mostly absent from Super Mario RPG is because he was on an adventure of his own at the time? Perhaps he was visiting Daisy in Sarasaland when she was kidnapped again, and in the process of rescuing her, either additional members of the Smithy Gang or a brand-new enemy force attacked, leading to a parallel adventure wherein Luigi, Daisy, and their allies travel Sarasaland and beyond to stop the invasion. Super Luigi RPG thus serves as both a sequel and a gaiden game to Super Mario RPG, built off a similar gameplay engine, though with innovations in line with what later Mario RPGs brought to the table. For example, Luigi and his allies could each have a field ability they can use with their assigned button, and it's possible to score first strikes on enemies, as well as vice versa. Once in a while, the game could allude to SMRPG's events, such as characters mentioning things happening in locations from that game, or even residents from SMRPG's towns appearing in SLRPG as travelers. Stuff like a Mole from Moleville selling goods from their mines, or a Nimbus Lander searching for Prince Mallow. In addition to Daisy, Wario and Waluigi could appear, serving a role roughly analogous to Bowser as the "adversaries-turned-allies" of the party. They could even be the ones who kidnap Daisy at the start of the game, with the intent of ransoming her for gold (though Waluigi develops a crush on her). This interestingly could become Waluigi's new earliest appearance in the series' loosely-defined timeline, assuming SMRPG and SLRPG take place before Mario Tennis. That said, Waluigi most likely would have references to tennis in his weaponry and skill set, as a nod to his game of origin. Saint Rubenio
The setup is already there, even. Remember TTYD, how Luigi had these adventures he went on that he narrated to Mario when they met up at Rogueport? Make a game about those! Or anything, really. More Loogi is always welcome in my book.
Armchair General
I'm half-convinced that the day when they give Luigi (another) game of his own, the devs have cone creatively bankrupt, at this point.
