While it was possible to get some mileage out of the sonic sword, the flame lance and (especially) the bolt axe were significantly less useful. The same holds true for Awakening - levin swords were the best magic weapon overall, whereas shocksticks and bolt axes were held back by rarity, and in the Bolt Axe's case, the lack of classes that could use it efficiently. A magic bow would suffer from that as well in Awakening if one existed, as the one class that would be able to get signifcant mileage out of it... is a DLC class.
