I never had to use any of these when I did Judo, thankfully :v

Are you calling us weebs?

Yes. Yes he is.

I'm saying that the number of people with some Japan know-how is higher here than it would be other places.

Eh.

I still don't think I was insulting or that the assumption was wrong or anything.

Or that I did anything wrong, for that matter.

I wonder just what it would be like to be this bloody clueless...

If you are going to bloody assume, why would you assume that i am somehow a weeb when all signs point to the contrary? I never have anime sigs unless they are game characters. I never use Japanese terms/slang/euphemisms/etc unironically. Ive stated much that i do not keep up with anime. I dont even really use anime or moe style emoticons.

Where did this assumption come from, ser? If youve observed me and my posting habits, you would assume im not exactly well versed in Japanese pop culture. Just like i would never assume you know anything about Norwegian language. Seriously dude. Seriously. Observation is better than assumption. Always.

I've a feeling I'd better just ignore instead of retaliating because I'm too tired to deal with it, but here I go. I will admit that calling that 'stupid' was in the wrong, but, for reference, the phrase "are you for real?" can be QUITE insulting depending on the person. Because tone cannot convey well across the screens, what you might mean for "surprise" can be read as condescending, depending on the way that person most often hears the phrase. It's an example of how assumptions can be bad. Quotation marks were used because sometimes based assumptions aren't really based, but people claim they are, so I'm in the habit. I DON'T think yours was very based, but that's my opinion.

But yes. Really. In my own life, I have NEVER heard that phrase used with "surprise". It was always, at best, mockery.

...I'm suddenly reminded of a certain Ike fangirl. Yep. Definitely not reading for the rest of the night.

Also, for reference, there was the ":o" emoticon!

I mean, that's what emoticons are for, right? To help convey facial expressions that can't be seen in real life, right?

I added that for a reason.

Hahahaha. You're funny.

Right.

No.

Oh, and also, plz. You're talking about "insulting."

You really are funny.

Haha. Insulting.

Yet this.

Uuuummmm. No.

Just no.

Since when did someone with some know-how on Japanese culture = weeb?

It's just, senpai is literally super common.

It's practically the "konnichiwa" of the Internet.

That, and kawaii.

That's why.

I said more.

Not all.

If anything, you're generalizing now. ;n;

And not "has to," mind you.

Ive never seen the word "senpai" until very recently on the internet. As in barely in the last year, and ive been on the interwebz since 2001. So no, thou art incorrect.

Neal i suggest you go back and study nuances of commonly used phrases

Seriously. I also suggest using the powers of observation.

Again, i ask Why would you ever assume that every user on this forum is into Japanese culture? Playing Nintendo games = really into Japan? See, this is no.

Hahahaha.

You're assuming that I assume that I think every user is into Japanese culture.

Even though I clearly stated that I said "more," not "all."

Observation, you said?

Assumptions, you said?

Okay now I'm being condescending.

But yeah, we're making mountains out of molehills, lol.

You can only assume a individual presents a characteristic with no knowledge of that someone if said characteristic is shared by all member of its group

Basically, when you assume Floki has a fair knowledge of Japanese culture because she is a part of SF, you're going with the premise that everyone on SF has said knowledge

Why the fuck am I talking like this? I should sleep

Bye all o/

It's definitely … interesting. On and off, on and off. I think I should raise the temperature threshold at which I want it to activate or something.

EDIT: The thermostat is so complicated that there are actually directions taped to the wall above it.

I think everyone in this thread should take an ice cream break.

I would love ice cream. And-

Wow. You lost it, huh.

I mean, wow.

...

...Sangyul, I really would like that ice cream, if you have some. It'll make it easier to ignore things.

What did I walk into?

Someone tried to point out something, another person went "what, no, I'm not in the wrong", and then drama happened.
